Again, this one is for all the right-wing crazies who keep calling Biden a "warmonger" despite of him never doing or saying anything to would make him one.

OK, time for all the Trump supporters who applauded and cheered when Trump said he was pulling out of Afghanistan, to now cheer and applaud President Biden....and diss all the NEOCON Repubs like Graham, Cheney, and McConnell who say we should stay...

We won't hold our breath...

Whoa, slow down and let’s wait first before giving Biden a prize. If he does this, that would be great and I would applaud him for that and pretty much most conservatives, but September is a long way off as well as 4 years, a lot can happen, but if he can pull this off, he’s got my respect.

September is only five months away. The withdrawl needs to be coordinated with the other NATO troops.

Still, a bit away and a lot can happen by then, so let’s see if the war loving establishment will come to their senses and do the right thing.

Unless the US remains involved in and committed to building a democratic Afghanistan and fighting off the terrorist / warlord elements in that nation, the US is just setting itself up another Taliban run mysogenistic Islamic thugocracy and eventually for a repeat of 9-11.

So, whose side are you on - Biden who is working to pull our troops out or McConnell, Graham, and the rest of the Repub NEOCONs who accuse Biden of planning to "turn tail and abandon the fight in Afghanistan"?

Committed to building a democratic Afghanistan? What, exactly, do you think the United States government has been doing the past 20 years there? Over $100 billion dollars of U.S. taxpayer dollars wasted, tens of thousands of U.S. service personnel seriously injured or killed. Even to this day, Afghani security forces cannot be trained and simply cannot be trusted to fight and secure their own country. Over 20 years for all that? What makes anyone think ANY country can build 'democracy' in Afghanistan? Thank you President Biden for removing all of our troops from that region. It is 20 years too late but nonetheless an end is finally in sight.

But let’s continue to baselessly attack Biden as a warmonger in the meantime.

I said, I was going to give the guy a chance. No need to try and pick a senseless and un-winnable situation.

If Trump had brought our trips home like he promised to do, Biden wouldn’t have to be cleaning up this mess.

Well, if the Democrats Pelosi, Schumer, Graham and all the establishment Washington elites as well as the Pentagon, he would have. So maybe they’ll be more forthcoming and allow Biden to bring the troops back.

Biden's decision would miss a May 1 deadline for withdrawal agreed to with the Taliban by his predecessor Donald Trump. The insurgents had threatened to resume hostilities against foreign troops if that deadline was missed.

Missing a deadline is deserving of applause?!!!

Anyway, I wonder where those troops will end up going. Ukraine perhaps?

There was the boycott of the Olympics over the Soviet's invasion of Afghanistan in 1980. Decades or so later the US is in Afghanistan fighting the very groups they funded.

Not gonna happen. In September they will announce a further extension for logistical reasons.

Afghanistan has been a complete mess ever since the Soviet-Afghan war, all the way up to recently when Russians were paying the Talibans to kill American soldiers (something the fat guy chose to ignore). This isn't going to end well, either way. I really can't see the reign of the Taliban's terror coming to an end. I would not want to be a female there.

Probably home, unless you're still clinging to the silly idea that Biden is a warmonger who's gonna start a war with Russia?

Yeah that's some tough warmongering there.

Long overdue.

Still waiting Trump supporters.... Who is right here - President Biden who wants to remove all the troops or Repubs McConnell, Graham, McCarthy, and Cheney who want to keep them there?

Do you agree with McConnell when he says "we are turning tail and abandoning Afghanistan?"

Biden wishes to withdraw troops from Kabul by Sept 11 this year? That will be the 20th anniversary of 911.

Wonder if his Pentagon generals would like the idea.

the U.S. intelligence community released a gloomy outlook for Afghanistan

I had a "gloomy outlook" back in 2001, right after learning about the Bush-Rumsfeld invasion plan and the tactics and strategy involved.

The commander-in-chief isn’t bound to what Congress or the Pentagon want

You're right it shouldn’t, but...

Biden plans to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan by Sept 11

If he does, I give him credit, however I do not believe it. Trump wanted to withdraw, but remember the concerted effort from the neocon-neolib establishment against that. And now these people are in control, putting Biden up front as a puppet. The swamp does not want to leave the Afghanistan mess, not now, not in September.

When the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan they decided to give General Zia Ul Haq of Pakistan a goodbye kiss for undermining their Afghan invasion and war effort by allying with Americans and supplying military and logistics to mujahideens. It is widely believed that Zia's plane crash was masterminded by KGB. I wonder if the US has similar plans since it is clear that their staunch 'ally' Pakistan has long undermined their effort to bring stability and peace to Afghanistan.

Pukey

Afghanistan has been a complete mess ever since the Soviet-Afghan war,

Yes, Continued errors by multiple administratins, starting with Reagan who gave Stinger missiles to the Jihadis.

all the way up to recently when Russians were paying the Talibans to kill American soldiers

Gee, you still believe this after it was debunked? I wonder how many more hoaxes you believe. Moonlanding? Covington kids? Russia hoax, "Fine People" hoax, handicapped journalist hoax, drinking bleach hoax?

Hint: OAN and Newsmax are not a good sources for factual debunking.

While normally a Biden supporter I oppose this withdrawal date. Why give the Taliban a date to celebrate the US gone from its nation on a date forever mourned in the USA for the Sept 11 attacks? A double celebration if they also celebrate the 9/11 attacks. Not well thought out. Move it forward a week or back a week would be better.

There is no but

Oh, yes there is...

Trump fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper Monday in part over his opposition to accelerating troop drawdowns worldwide, and especially in Afghanistan. The upheaval accelerated on Tuesday with the resignation of three high-level civilians and the installation of loyalists who are expected to ram through Trump's agenda, and continued on Wednesday when retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor, an outspoken critic of the war in Afghanistan, was brought on as senior adviser to new acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller. Any move to accelerate withdrawals would set up a clash with the nation’s top generals and other civilians, who have argued publicly against leaving Afghanistan too quickly while the security situation remains volatile.

So Schumer, Pelosi and Graham and others as well as the Pentagon blocked the President’s move to do a full withdrawal.

It would also complicate President-elect Joe Biden’s pledge to leave a small number of troops in the country to guard against terror attacks.

Why? And who? Let them deal with it themselves.

Trump could have brought all troops home had he wanted to:

He did, when Congress and the Pentagon are blocking, not much you can do.

*Miller will likely present the president with all the options for and against going down to zero troops in Afghanistan, *but ultimately Trump gets to decide.

He did. and he got punted. Remember, Congress wages war snd will approve if any troops should come home or stay. This is why the Dems signed off on Bush’s war because the Democrat congress allowed for the troop buildup, boy do they have small memories.....
