Well said Mr Schiff. Quite a speech. Far more honest than
Elections that can be tampered with. Elections that don't allow millions of Americans to vote.

It’s not just Donny that’s a threat to our democratic republic; the GOP condoning Donny’s corruption is also a threat.
PTownsend
Too PC. He's much worse than that. But his devout followers still claim his lack of an ethical compass, dishonesty, a/immoral behavior, nepotism (besides Jared and Ivanka, why do Giulliani's and Barr's sons work in the White House), insider trading (how have Jared and Ivanka got richer while serving Trump), allowing foreign states to meddle in US affairs, et. etc. are perfectly acceptable to them. They just want 'the media' to stop reporting what he does and says, they prefer media controlled by the state like China, Russia and its partner Iran, Saudi Arabia and other states led by a dictator have.
Concerned Citizen
This sham of an impeachment drive is the culmination of a three year long screeching hissy fit by Democrats and thier media cohorts in the wake the crushing loss in 2016 by thier former darling Hillary Clinton, who was exposed as the corrupt, lying elite she's always been.
This unconscionable effort to overthrow the president who has brought jobs and food on the table to the poor worker will not go down well with the electorate.
Elitist Democrat leadership and thier media goons have absolutely no sincerity or concern for the working class at all, which is why voters turned their backs on them in 2016 and will do so again in 2020.
Chip Star
It’s a little early to staff with the lies.
Your definition of the voters turning their backs in the Dems is a bit odd given three million more voters voted for Hillary. Let’s not let facts get in the way of your hyper partisan screed though.
Alfie Noakes
I can't be the only non-American who finds this all a bit baffling.
I mean, it's a kind of trial but the Republicans can prevent witnesses with clear evidence of Trump's guilt from speaking and the the "jury" is a Senate with a Republican majority. Obviously they're not going to find him guilty, so what's the actual point? Is it just a token effort or does it have some real worth?
TheLongTermer
No, what is a threat to a democracy is a media elite and a political group who have deemed the president guilty from day 1 of his term. The man could never get a fair trial, as everything he does is "wrong" and he was labeled guilty before even given a trial. Therefore the trial was a sham, and those who created this waste of time witch hunt should be on trial themselves for wasting national treasury and time that should of been devoted to more worth causes. Schiff and Pelosi will become 2 of the most despised politicians, too dumb to realize they created their own demise.
Ah_so
Trump's supporters don't care if he genuinely was guilty of the crimes he was accused of our not - to him he is a demi-God, above the law and untouchable. If he abolished democracy and declared himself President for life I think a lot would cheer him on.
These last few years American democracy has been dying, visibly wilting before his eyes. Those who will suffer most appear to be those cheering him. Irony is probably a concept not many of them understand.
Concerned Citizen
@Chip Star
My point is that working class voters in states like Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc, which were once Democrat friendly, turned thier backs on Hillary and the Dems and put Trump in the White House. And Trump has delivered on his campaign promises to give them jobs. And the idiotic Dems having not learned from this now want to overthrow him!
Like Trump or not, to the people of Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc, this is akin to assassination of thier hero. This simply will not go down well.
How in the world are the Dems going to win those workers over? Bernie is the only sincere one amongst the candidates, and yet the lying Dem leadership and thier media goons are doing every trick in the book to undermine him. Like last election, many Bernie Bro's will stick it to thier party and vote Trump out of spite.
This all spells further disaster for Dems.
For thier own and the people's sake Dems need to get off thier identity politics infested, moral high horses. They need to ditch the men, white people and worker hatred and support for the brutal slaughter of the unborn at 40 weeks. They need to focus on the needs of the working class with policies that bring jobs, raise the minimum wage, improve access to health care and ensure border security.
Blacklabel
Yeah cause he will give Alaska to the Russians or something. Such stupidity, even from Schiff.
itsonlyrocknroll
The indubitable, political democratic real world truth, to remove Donald Trump from office is The Democratic Party must state a clear full policy agenda, immigration, education, inequality, climate change, etc etc
Focus, channel President Trumps alleged "high crimes and misdemeanors" But do so at the ballot box.
That's democracy.
Have the courage to fight an Election, let the American people decide.
This whole process of impeachment is a foolish and wasted journey, affording Donald Trump and most importantly his advisors a platform, free of charge, to beat his political opponents over the head at will.
There are no political short cuts.
SuperLib
Well said.
theFu
Obviously they're not going to find him guilty, so what's the actual
It is purely political. Dems will use it for their campaigns at all levels of govt.
In the 1990s, I was taught by Dems that a liar President was acceptable.
I'm still extremely unhappy with how they broke my health insurance costing us over 4x more than before. Monthly health insurance premiums are, by far, our largest bill. Higher than our mortgage or cars.
Peter14
And so the death of American democracy is complete. Time of death is about to be announced by the senate.
The world is worse off now that America can not be trusted by friend or foe alike. Americans voted for a lying egotist and may well do so again, showing those who vote that way have no brains, care nothing for fellow Americans or for anyone else in the world. By voting for Donny they actually show they do not even care about themselves or their families.
I weep for my American friends, literally. I weep for the world. At a time when world leadership is so desperately needed, America collapses in a heap and one of the voices piercing the darkness comes from a 15 year old girl (Greta Thunberg). America has failed itself and the world. Pandemic, climate change, Bird flu re-emerges. How many things can go wrong at once when we have no leader to pull us through it all.
The death of American democracy will have wide ranging negative effects on us all. Things seem about to get much much worse. Stay tuned for November 2020, if the pandemic doesnt get you that is. Good luck.
Blacklabel
So now the Dems are pushing “censure” just so they can say that there was no acquittal.
nope, you could have censured months ago but you chose to waste our time and money instead.
u_s__reamer
The Republican cultists betrayed their oath to render impartial judgment, refused to do the right thing and allowed their rogue leader to slip the noose of justice, but not to worry since the Dems have given the demented Don enough rope to finish the job himself before November.

Oh the reality that you have few to no actual policies and the ones you do have are pie in the sky things that you can’t explain how you will pay for.
that the secretary of education will be vetted by a transgender elementary school child and half the cabinet will be people of color, women or non binaries(!?) regardless of ability to do the job. That reality?
bass4funk
Looking at the current Democrat field, they don’t have a clear message, none of their ideas will come to fruition, they’re more focused with beating Trump over searching for a candidate that inspires and can tackle the issues that many Democrat voters care about. None of these old white candidates with their radical liberal socialist policies can beat Trump.
Jimizo
Pie in the sky like building a wall, deporting all illegals, banning all Muslims entering and getting rid of the debt?
On the subject of the debt, why are you worried about paying for things when you support Trump piling on more debt while the economy is good?
Chip Star
Since you’re a registered Dem, you me “we,” not, “you.”

By falling for Putin's influence campaign...and Donnie's lies...
I'm from Ohio - tell that to Ohio farmers who needlessly suffered under his stupid tariffs. And did you see 2019's GDP? A measly 2.3% - and fourth quarter was 2.1%. The facts are clearly showing Trump's handling of the economy is far worse than President Obama, who had a 5.5% quarterly GDP in FY 2014.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/188185/percent-chance-from-preceding-period-in-real-gdp-in-the-us/
Utterly and completely ridiculous... And leave it to a Trumper to invoke violence.
Just look at the Trumpers, "We love Bernie"...what a crock. Yea, you loved Bolton too - now he's a "Backstabber" and a "tool of the left". I hate to break this to you but Dems could care less about your clueless analysis...
From the party that just foisted a sham trial on the public - and ignored their own Repub savior that had the goods on Donnie. But the truth will still come out; Bolton, Parnas, the e-mails - they'll all show what a blatant cover-up this was - and Repubs will be radioactive for decades.
For their own sake, Repubs better Dump Trump and get Nikki Haley on the phone ASAP...
Blacklabel
Because the money is being well spent. Not by giving everyone free college while not reimbursing people who saved their money and worked hard to pay it themselves.
unmm the wall is being built btw.
if you are a politician you can’t give me a 32 TRILLION dollar program and then say “I don’t know” when asked how to pay for it. Then lie and say taxes won’t be raised.
nishikat
Don't worry. Trump will not leave the WH even if he loses the election. There is proof of that.
Blacklabel
Prime example of no policies from your liberal media:
(let’s not worry if someone will actually be a good president, let’s just use identity politics and wealth to buy the election). Cause orangemanbad.)
“Most Democratic voters are in no mood to take risks. Many do believe the president to be an existential threat to the nation and even the world. The task at hand is to pick the candidate best positioned to win. We can argue about policy after the election. The winning ticket is Michael Bloomberg andKamala Harris. This is not a judgment about who would be the best president. It is only about who is best positioned to prevail in the election.”
Serrano
The pathetic Democrats are just pissed off because they know whoever they nominate is going to lose to Trump, probably in a landslide, and they'll probably lose the House too.
Well said Mr Schiff. Quite a speech

What if there is a recession? Trump can't blame Hillary. At least GWB was pretty humble in 2008. If a recession happens Trump will just keep tweeting about Crooked Hillary without doing anything about it.
Yes, MB is a much better candidate than Trump. Good point.
Jimizo
But you were talking about pie in the sky promises. Trump said he’d get rid of the debt, throw out all illegals and ban Muslims entering to country. Many of his supporters are angry about him not building the wall ( now it is bits of fence when he trash after he trash tweeted Jeb! making it clear it was a ‘wall’ ).
Trump was full of lies ( sorry, New York bs ) on the campaign trail.
I’m just surprised more of his supporters like yourself, who clearly don’t like pie in the sky, don’t call this out more often.
Blacklabel
Yeah let’s just sell the election to the highest bidder. Dems have not one, but two old white male billionaires. But will make sure to pick a minority woman as VP (but not Tulsi) to pay lip service to “diversity”
sure let’s take the candidate that dropped out months ago because nobody wanted to vote for her and make her VP of an almost 80 yr old President. good idea said no one.
with the advanced age of all these old white dudes, VP is key and shouldn’t be used for identity politics.

Impeachment is so last week. You have to downplay it in the media now so people miss the acquittal.
please pick Bloomberg and Harris. That will only get you New York and CA which you already have.

How? Sanders doesn’t attract enough minorities, the same for the good mayor Pete and Warren, Biden does better with minorities, but doesn’t poll well with younger people, Amy won’t ever be President, neither will Bloomberg, the man that wants to tell people what and how to eat and drink. So I wouldn’t worry about Trump getting another 4 years.
Most definitely.

Uh, how about Donnie's Dept of Treasury...
4th quarter 2019: 2.1 percent
3rd quarter 2019: 2.1 percent

And 2nd Qtr 2019 - 2.0% - great trend huh?
CY 19 GDP was only 2.3% - pathetic... And 2018 was only 2.9%. Which as everyone can see is a downward trend.
Get the facts - right from Trump's own Treasury Dept.

Keep dreaming of revenge on those TV show characters.
You don't really know much about economics so you've been consistently wrong on this. You keep mixing up quarterly GDP with annual. For example, you won't believe this: Trump has never had over 3% annual GDP.
And here is the brilliance of the GOP.
The issue is that the Top 10% of America are getting a lion's share of the wealth. Stock market is up? Great, something like 16% of Americans own stock. Good for the rich, but wages for the working man are flat. So you're cheering the rich getting richer because they tricked you into thinking you were included in all this new wealth. You aren't.
Wages have been flat for decades and that impacts the working class more than anything else.
lincolnman
Wait a minute - are you saying Trump fudged his own numbers on his own Treasury Dept website? They aren't accurate? We can't trust his data? Maybe its a con-job?

Evidently liberals don’t either, that’s why they didn’t create a booming economy. Regulations, tax increases, Wall St. doesn’t agree with you and neither do the people, none of the Socialists can beat Trump on the economy.
Go to Silicone Valley and ask them, they may hate Trump these rich liberals, but they would never vote for this idiots, they want to make money, not lose it.
Yes, sir!
Add to that people are spending a lot more which is what you want in a vibrant economy. More spending, more taxes are recycled into the economy, embrace Trump.
And the socialists solutions are income redistribution, raising taxes and increasing the minimum wage? Good luck with that.

Wait a minute. I provided data from Trump's own Treasury Dept directly from its website. It shows;
2nd Qtr 2019 GDP was 2.0% 3rd Qtr 2019 was 2.1%, and 3rd Qtr was also 2.1%.
It also showed 2018 GDP was 2.9% and 2019 was 2.3% - a clear downward trend.
So, is this data provided by Trump's DoT false?
Why are you providing a Fortune link that's over two years old and addresses 2012 that has nothing to do with today.
Tell us why in 2018 or 2019, Trump failed to achieve even a paltry 3.0% growth and why we are on a clear downward trend in GDP?
nishikat
I'm sure this would not be said if the economy goes south.
Attention Trump people. Why is this? Is it Hillary's fault?
SuperLib
Trump promised 5% growth. He can’t even reach 3% with massive tax cuts and interest rate cuts.
Do you disagree?
PTownsend
Are you calling Trump and ilk national socialists? Their income redistribution plan ensures the rich can get even richer by providing tax cuts and more subsidies for the corporations they control. The country's income gap continues to widen as a result, while working and middle class families see their costs of living increase and their buying power decrease.

If you want an example of a current system similar to fascism, look at Russia, that darling state of the globe's far right.

I believe it is defining Liberal/Libertarian dereference (third-person singular), past and present, in relation to The Democrats, referring to current 2020 Candidates miscellany, to highlight a political paradox.
The point in question is where does the liberation fit, or stand on the same hustings philosophically as the ideologically progressive socialist?
It is the square peg Mike Bloomberg, and the round hole Elizabeth Warren?
Both have a political target pinned to there backs, tailor made for Donald Trump advisors to aim at.

But remember, many of Trump's hardest core followers have said all along they want him to undermine US systems. Remember, many of them want 'foreign' states to meddle in US affairs. Well, I guess we won't be getting any answers to our questions today - but we did prove that one of Trump's biggest lies is that he is somehow a master of the economy - what a fairy tale...
Data from his own Dept of Treasury prove GDP has DECREASED from 2018 to 2019. And after touting he'd have annual GDP growing over 3%, he's never achieved that; 2017: 2.6%, 2018: 2.9%, 2019: 2.3%...
Trump has been an abject failure on the economy - according to his own measure.
Let the truth be told - Trump tried to bribe a foreign government to interfere in our election - and if you're willing to overlook that because you think he's great for our economy, look at the data on his own DoT website - it tells a very different tale...
8T
Kinda obvious, don't you think?

That’s not what people go by. The people feel good, growing prosperity overall and that hasn’t happened for many years and even black Americans are admitting this.
Because I watch the markets, I invest and right now as we speak if anything that is going great for Trump it’s the economy and as long as that holds strong, he’ll be reelected again.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you guys also gave us numbers in 2016 and polling after polling about he will never get elected and Mueller, impeachment he’ll go to prison, he’ll be impeached and removed and impending doom and gloom. ROFL! Too, too funny.

Democrats hold onto the numbers as long as they want to, that’s the only thing that will make them smile and that’s the only thing that they have or just numbers intangible numbers that mean nothing to the average American, but it helps give warmth to Democrats
