US must be getting desperate to beg China, at a time when the US is trying to own the South China Sea, and putting TRAAD system on their border.
OssanAmerica
The day China actually does anything about NKorea is the day the US accepts that the South China Sea is sovereign Chinese territory since ancient times.

This is probably the only thing I agree with the Donald with.
China banks Fatty Kim's regime. China also makes billions dealing and trading with the US.
Make a choice. Lose the US and its money or keep supporting fat boy.

Trump has done ZIPPO to pressure China in any way. He gave Xi a piece of chocolate cake, and thinks that's sufficient.
How about a total freeze on scientific exchanges, visiting faculty and H1B visa holders from China. China would not like being less able to steal our stuff, which they now do freely.
But Trump does what the corporate masters say.

Easier said than done. It's probably easier for China to pressure NK than for the US to pressure China. I think the only way for China to agree to remove the Kims is if the US permanently removed bases in the Korean peninsula.

Trump talked tough about China during the campaign, and then he caved after 10 minutes. Now he is left to begging.
Make America Great . . Again. Pffft.
More like make Trump great again.
They probably talked Trump business opportunities and that is why he caved. Ivanka has recently received a number of patents in China, and the Kushner family is selling immigration visas there.

It is the U.S that is funding China scientific rise, the number of chinese post docs in the
U.S has increased astronomically and most labs are accepting Chinese and Indians because
of they are cheap compared to other nationalities, nowadays it is becoming difficult finding a postdoc
job that pays even 32,000USD annually. To make matters worst, many labs are run by naturalized
Chinese which further accelerates the employment of chinese postdocs.

Goodluckto you:
No. China is NKs only supporter and lifeline, and NKs survival depends entirely on China. By he same token, without Chinas approval, the US can not do anything about NK. Seriously, is that news to you?
gonemad
The conflict is between NK and the US. China can mediate between the two, but won't be able to solve it. The US have to understand that they are part of the problem.
HonestDictator
And China will have to understand they that are also part of the problem. Because a united Korea will mean better economic competition to China's economy. So China wants to hamper the ability for a united Korea which would probably be more western/US friendly as well until they can own the region economically and politically.
