We won't see hospitalizations and deaths go down for a couple of weeks because (

Because Trump/McConnell and their fellow 'elite' Republicans don't care. The virus has hit those at the lower end of the economic scale and people of color hardest. These are people Republicans have marginalized; the Republicans care first and foremost for their wealthiest members. What a sick Party running a country getting sicker every day in every way. See China and the Mandarins, India and Brahmins, Europe and the 'royals'.

4 million, with close to 150,000 deaths. Compare that to the H1N1 that had 15,000 to 20,000 deaths and something like 60 million infections. I'll take the H1N1 over COVID any day of the week.

And yet Trump blames Obama for the deaths and lack of management during the H1N1 outbreak.

When will the US hold Trump accountable for this mess today!

10 ( +12 / -2 )

With such a sociopath as president, half of the USA can die as long as he looks “great”, won’t truly matter to him. Guess he might believe he is the “greatest killer” of all America.

ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS12) — A man who died in a motorcycle crash was counted as a COVID-19 death in Florida....

https://cbs12.com/news/local/man-who-died-in-motorcycle-crash-counted-as-covid-19-death-in-florida-report

She said of the 581 deaths on the spreadsheet, only 169 deaths are listed as COVID without any contributing factors.

https://cbs12.com/news/local/i-team-deaths-incorrectly-attributed-to-covid-19-in-palm-beach-county

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

There’s no cure for stupid but plenty of underlying causes. The contributing factors are highly evident in this case.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

so coronavirus causes motorcycle accidents?

thats not highly evident whatsoever.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

I wasn’t talking about that.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Nobody in the world believes that except you. How could the virus cause a motorcycle accident? How ridiculous.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

She said of the 581 deaths on the spreadsheet, only 169 deaths are listed as COVID without any contributing factors.

Nice try, but that is saying that there were no other contributing factors, just straight out Covid deaths. But most deaths are based on Covid being the reason the patient dies from pneumonia, kidney failure, stroke, etc.

The article says there are eight instances from the 581 that were incorrectly listed as Covid related and the medial examiners office agreed and was changing it.

Florida doesn't keep track of the stats accurately. If you remember, the woman who kept the stats was fired for pointing out that the state was intentionally undercounting tests, hospitalizations and deaths.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

so coronavirus causes motorcycle accidents?

146,000 deaths in the US alone. That's a huge number.

Of course mistakes in counting will be made, especially in a virus as complex as this one. I wonder how many deaths there have been of those who actually did die from something caused by the virus, but were NOT reported as such.

The huge number of deaths growing larger each day tells the picture, not isolated anecdotes.

At this point with so many deaths from the virus, so many sickened by it, so many economies damaged (maybe permanently) by it, I can't understand the 'reasoning' of those who dismiss its severity. Of course they probably do have the right to do so. And maybe that's part of their job.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

not really, in a population of 320 million or more. We have 7500 deaths per day usually, its part of life.

Especially once you deduct the nursing home deaths, all the "presumed" deaths and all the false deaths attributed to COVID that werent.

of course it would be great if China had never let this get out to the world, then no one would have died from this, but that didnt happen.

146,000 deaths in the US alone. That's a huge number.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

The virus doesn't belong to a political party.

The total excess deaths in the US are 18% higher than those counted as Covid-19 deaths above the expected death rate without the virus. That tells you that Covid-19 deaths are undercounted.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

437 deaths per million people. 8th place worldwide.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

@Bkacklabel

146,000 deaths is a huge number. Do you remember when you were quoting the polls when they were showing a majority of US people approving of Trump’s handling of coronavirus? Have a look at those polls now,

On the China point, this needs repeating yet again. The CCP has a lot to answer for regarding Covid. That said, once it got loose, it became a test of leadership and its competence. Certain leaders saw their stock rise after their response and others saw it fall.

Take a look at the polls you used to quote for the answer on Trump.

Sad.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

polls? like the one that says 43% of Blacks are voting for Trump?

Or the one that says 8% of people who approve of Trump will vote for Biden?

Lets stick with facts, not polls. Unless we want to agree that my polls are just as valid as yours.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

The average number of new cases is now rising by more than 2,600 per hour nationwide, the highest rate in the world.

So much for the CDC.....

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

437 deaths per million people. 8th place worldwide.

Just to be clear everyone, that is 8th WORST out of 195 countries in the world.

Really the US is in 187th place.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Lets stick with facts, not polls. Unless we want to agree that my polls are just as valid as yours.

The polls I’m quoting are the ones you were quoting when Trump’s approval on Covid was good as far as I’m aware. I checked them and got the same numbers as you.

Are those polls no good now?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Lets stick with facts, not polls.

I hardly ever type ‘lol’ but in this case it’s appropriate. Lol.

Facts you get from the ‘fake media’? All the polls you’ve googled up in the past are now irrelevant? Har!

Death by the numbers

1 in 1,350 Black Americans has died (or 73.7 deaths per 100,000)

1 in 1,650 Indigenous Americans has died (or 60.5 deaths per 100,000)

1 in 2,100 Pacific Islander Americans has died (or 48.0 deaths per 100,000)

1 in 2,700 Latino Americans has died (or 37.2 deaths per 100,000)

1 in 3,100 White Americans has died (or 32.4 deaths per 100,000)

1 in 3,250 Asian Americans has died (or 30.7 deaths per 100,000)

adjusted by age per 100,000

75 yo above 330 death

65 yo above 82 death

55 yo above 35 death

45 yo above 14 death

under 45 yo 2 death (1.7 to be exact)

make a wise decision about how you choose to live base by the numbers

The United States on Thursday passed a total of more than 4 million coronavirus infections since the first U.S. case was confirmed in January, according to a Reuters tally, reflecting a nationwide escalation of the pandemic.

The United States took 98 days to reach its first one million cases of the coronavirus but just 16 days to increase from 3 million to 4 million, the tally showed. The total suggests that at least one in 82 Americans have been infected at some point in the pandemic.

The average number of new cases is now rising by more than 2,600 per hour nationwide, the highest rate in the world.

Hey, we're really winning the war, huh Mr Wartime President? Is this what you meant when you said "America would lead the world"?

In fact, you've been MIA during the entire war, unless you were tweeting nonsense like the virus is "contained" or just "one person from China"...

You are hereby charged with Dereliction of Duty and Aiding the Enemy - and your trial is scheduled for Nov 3rd.

Get ready to be sentenced by the American people...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Trump said during the Fox interview America has the lowest mortality rate in the world which is incorrect. At least he says people should wear masks.

4 million infections increasing 2,600 per hour and 146,000 deaths speaks for itself. The country still has not hot the pandemic under control and Trump said "it will get worse, before it gets better!"

The figures speak for themselves.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Compare the Covid-19 statistics for the USA with any other industrialized country, and it is clear that Trump is a failed president.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Trump did not fail, the majority of americans failed themselves by becoming too fat and unhealthy

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

These tremendous numbers, like nobody has ever seen and nobody would have believed ( first covid was called "a hoax", and then it was "only" 60,000 dead, yet saving "millions" of lives) will constitute the historical legacy of the wannabe "Caesar of Amerikkka": Flippi, Flappi, Floppi (I flipped, I flapped, I flopped). It's a disgrace!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump did not fail, the majority of americans failed themselves by becoming too fat and unhealthy

Trump didn't fail? You really need to watch this...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uLJkpH__os&feature=emb_logo

5 ( +6 / -1 )

In the Florida outbreak, many of the new infections are young people.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

If Biden should win, it won’t, if should should be re-elected, it won’t.

No arguing with that. No understanding it either.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

It's strange that Trump is going to cancel his convention in Jacksonville for the health and welfare of his fellow Americans, but he's still trying to force all of the schools to open up.

He's failed as a president and had he handled this pandemic responsibly months ago, the country and his political future would've been in a much better position. He's a fraud and everybody knows now that the emperor isn't wearing any clothes.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

146,000 deaths in roughly half a year.

In comparison, WW2 had approximately 460,000 American deaths. A war that covered 5 years, averaging less than 100,000 deaths in a year vs. a rate of COVID-19 deaths at present of about a 1000 a day, which, doing the rough math says 365,000 deaths in a year.

With the current administrative ignorance, it isn't a stretch, at all, to think if it continues, a 5 year total could be devastating, with a 365,000 a year death rate exponentially rising, easily to a rate of a 1 million per year and more.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

So, what do you want to do, bass4funk and blacklabel?

Twist everything into some bizarre liberal, Democrats thing?

What do you want to do, ignore the virus?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

"The timing for this event is not right," Trump said in a White House press briefing. "It's just not right with what’s happened recently, the flare up in Florida. To have a big convention it’s not the right time."

But opening schools is OK.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

open the economy and go back to work. reopen schools and educate our youth. allow people freedom of movement.

stop using the virus as a political tool to attack Trump and to try to elect Joe Biden without him having to come out of his basement. he needs to answer some actual questions at some point.

stop acting as if 4 million people infected with something, with a less than 1% overall death rate is something to shut down the entire country over. 60 million got H1N1, nothing shut down.

stop counting "presumed" deaths and unrelated deaths as COVID and realize its 430 or so deaths per million, 8th highest in the world, even with the miscounting.

stop the speculation and joyous reporting of the death count, as well as future goals. I mean, you have a guy above giving us a 5 year projection? give me a break.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

But opening schools is OK.

It's almost as though Trump only cares about a certain narrow section of the American people, and it's not clear if he cares much for their well-being either.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Be Best, US!

Fauci, who became a household name in the early days of the pandemic, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Thursday on Opening Day of the truncated Major League Baseball season at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Awesome!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Only a psychopath would think 146,000 deaths are no big deal as well as ignoring the long term, permanent health consequences of getting infected, which will be in the millions or people.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

right down the middle, a strike.

The time Trump landed his helicopter at center field and threw out a first pitch

@Black

stop using the virus as a political tool to attack Trump and to try to elect Joe Biden without him having to come out of his basement. he needs to answer some actual questions at some point.

LOL! The words of the defeated who has given up trying to defend the undefendable. Their only option is to blame the other side like Biden for not giving them enough to complain about.

The virus is being used as an example of trump's incompetence as a leader. It is easy to have a rallies every month, go to his gold courses on the American dime, lie, and call others childish names while tweeting on the toilet late at night when you inherit a stable, fine tuned machine from President Obama. The virus has exposed all of trump's crap.

Now it is time once again for a Democrat to clean up another failed Republican presidency!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The time Trump landed his helicopter at center field and threw out a first pitch

Hahahaha! 16 years and a million cheeseburgers ago. Seems legit.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

not happening. Biden cant stop blundering. thats why corona needs to be continued as a narrative to support Biden hiding out.

https://www.foxnews.com/media/charlamagne-tha-god-biden-shut-the-eff-up-forever-after-calling-trump-first-racist-potus

Charlamagne Tha God says Biden should 'shut the eff up forever' after calling Trump 'first' racist POTUS

Charlamagne then cited polling that showed a wide enthusiasm gap between Biden and Trump, noting that it's "not good" for the Democrat to be lacking excitement among his voters, and suggested Biden's latest remarks will further contribute to the "lack of enthusiasm."

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

The self proclaimed "War Time president" has had more casualties that the Great War, and it is not over with yet.

He cancelled the Republican Convention that @Black was talking in a previous article after moving it from NC to Jacksonville because NC wanted everyone to wear masks. Now the Republican run Florida, the state that he needs to win is innundated with infections. trump said himself that Florida has a lot of infections. He was not repeating the conspiracy theory as @Black that the numbers are a lot lower, but they being inflated to make trump look bad.

trump is disappointed that the turnout will be terrible like his other rally.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

@Black

not happening. Biden cant stop blundering. thats why corona needs to be continued as a narrative to support Biden hiding out.

The narrative continues because 146,00 people have died and are still dying.

Americans are banned from entering most if not all the first world countries and some some third world countries around the world.

The narrative continues because 40 million are unemployed at a cool 11% unemployment rate and eviction moratorium will be lifted soon.

The narrative continues because the suppose leader of the US wants children to go back to school to get an education, but the leader of the US do not listen to the "Educated"!

LOL!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

why corona needs to be continued as a narrative to support Biden hiding out.

Extreme partisan's extremist statement. But I won't waste any more time trying to rebut knowing the mod on duty is one of your fellow ultra-rightists.

Do us a favour - be consistent with your sometimes justified attacks on the biased MSM and CNN in particular.

Fox News? Really?

Let’s link to stuff suitable for adults, eh?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I was listening to a right winger today talking about how in 2016, people who hated both candidates voted for Hillary. This time people who hate both are polling for Biden.

The right is trying to ignore the reality that this election is a referendum on trumps performance over the past four years.

People watching their loved ones die around them have thoughts about that performance.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

who reports it doesnt change what was said. If I use CNN, you whine about that too. all the liberals here claim they dont watch it and that they arent liberals.

Point is, this was said.

Do us a favour - be consistent with your sometimes justified attacks on the biased MSM and CNN in particular.

That makes zero sense.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Hard on the heels of Trump's shocking admission, "It will probably, unfortunately, get worse before it gets better.", comes the announcement in a rambling, stumbling recitation of someone else's script that, despite the enthusiastic encouragement of his staff to stage the event, he had made the personal decision to cancel the Republican National Convention in Florida because "the timing... to have a big convention is not right", adding the out-of-character remark full of faux empathy that "There's nothing more important in our country than keeping our people safe." This sudden whiplash-inducing pivot was no coincidence; it's transparent just like Trump's trademark carny barking to his base. And his latest shaky "on script" performance" is a clear indication that 4,000,000 cases and climbing are paralyzing his ability to fool enough people to get himself re-elected.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I was listening to a right winger today talking about how in 2016, people who hated both candidates voted for Hillary. This time people who hate both are polling for Biden.

I mis-typed. In 2016, people who hated both voted Trump. This time their polling for Biden.

Yeah, and the U.S. has done nearly 50 million tests, far more than any other country. Of course the number of cases are going to be higher.

Yeah, and the U.S. has done nearly 50 million tests, far more than any other country. Of course the number of cases are going to be higher.

Explains the cases but not the deaths. Multiple testing with some people.

When will the US hold Trump accountable for this mess today!

Well for accountability start with CCP, WHO director and the rioters, arsonist, looters..

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Well, after thinking about it, maybe there is method to Trump madness in botching and bungling his COVID response....

I mean, he's desperate to say he's completed just one of his campaign promises - Hillary isn't in jail, the wall ain't built, Obamacare wasn't repealed and replaced, the deficit isn't at "zero", North Korea hasn't given up its nukes, unemployment is at its highest in decades, etc., etc...

So, i guess he wants to tell his base, "I've sealed our borders with Canada and Mexico"....which is really Canada and Mexico sealing their borders with us because of our world-leading COVID rates....

But hey, his supporters won't care about that small distinction...its keeping them "furriners" out...

And in their view, it only cost the lives of 146K Americans (to date)....

MAGA baby.....

Don't forget Andrew "Let's put COVID patients in the nursing homes" Cuomo.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Don't forget Andrew "Let's put COVID patients in the nursing homes" Cuomo.

Yeah, because his one mistake is equivalent to Trump's complete and utter failure to deal with covid, right?

But at least he knows an elephant drawing. Stable genius indeed.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

his supposed "one" mistake directly caused the deaths of over 6000 people. so yeah

Trump is responsible for nearing 150,000.

And he said Obama should resign when two Americans died of ebola.

But go ahead and try to gaslight some more as if anyone is stupid enough to believe your team's fake news anymore.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trump didnt sign the order to put infected people into NY nursing homes. Cuomo did.

Well yeah, because Trump has done absolutely nothing other than claim covid would magically go away.

You're trying to compare a guy who was effective, with one mistake, to a guy who has been entirely useless leading to more American deaths than any other president in the history of the union.

Trump's #1.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

@Black

Trump didnt sign the order to put infected people into NY nursing homes. Cuomo did.

Do I need to post a copy of his order with his signature?

LOL! Cuomo is not president, trump is! trump has failed, and is still failing!

The Great Depression
