Trump just keeps winning!

Richard Grenell is a better choice anyway.

Too bad. Heather would have made a good ambassador not to mention being the hottest one in history.

Trump has several other good people to choose from. Ivanka would be a good choice except CNN wouldn't approve, so that's out. hehe

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

There are two and only two kinds of Trump cabinet nominees:

1) utterly unqualified candidates (Carson, DeVos, Perry, Nauert...)

2) people's whose sole purpose is to completely undermine the mission of the department they are tapped to lead (Pruitt, Zinke, Mulvaney, Malpass...)

7 ( +8 / -1 )

If he can't find anyone, I'm available.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trump eats it again and we get Trumpophiles saying someone else is a better choice (why wasn't that person the first choice?) and making sexist comments. Very sophisticated individuals.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Because its my opinion that someone else is better. I’m not the president, Trump is. Whoever he chooses is fine with me.

She didn’t want to be away from her family, that’s reasonable reason to back out.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

If she didn't want to be away from her family, why did she accept the nomination? It's no secret to competent individuals that the UN ambassador is busy.

Ivanka would be a good choice

She (and her daddy) have been very effective in their personal business dealings with China.

Trump received 16 new trademarks from China’s Trademark Office in October, bringing the total number approved by China last year to 34, http://fortune.com/2019/01/21/ivanka-trump-china-trademarks/

No doubt if daddy appointed her to the UN, she and Jared could help their family businesses even more.

Richard Grenell is a better choice anyway.

Der Spiegel wrote a profile of Grenell based on numerous interviews with German and American diplomats, politicians, officials, etc.

Almost all of these sources paint an unflattering portrait of the ambassador, one remarkably similar to Donald Trump, the man who sent him to Berlin. A majority of them describe Grenell as a vain, narcissistic person who dishes out aggressively, but can barely handle criticism.

Also, Grenell . . .

. . . knows little about Germany and Europe, that he ignores most of the dossiers his colleagues at the embassy write for him, and that his knowledge of the subject matter is superficial.

Sounds like an ideal choice for Trump and his MAGA Cultists.

1) utterly unqualified candidates (Carson, DeVos, Perry, Nauert...) blah blah blah

Why would you call Dr. Carson utterly unqualified? He's more qualified for his job than Barack Obama was for president.

@rgcivilian What are your qualifications? If they're top-notch, heck, apply!

Who would want to represent the US with Trump at the helm?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Well, let's see, given Trump fascination with reality TV, I could see him picking;

Dennis Rodman...

Scott Baio...

Omarossa (if she groveled)...

But my pick.....Ann Coulter! "I am here at the UN today representing that "Idiot" in the White House."

Who would want to represent the US with Trump at the helm?

rgcivilian1 for one!

I could see him picking Dennis Rodman... But my pick.....Ann Coulter! "I am here at the UN today representing that "Idiot" in the White House."

Har! Good one, lincoln!

How about we don't bother to replace the UN ambassador and stop paying 22% of the UN budget and save $600 million and put that towards the wall?

"The United States is asking Britain, France, Germany and other European allies to take back over 800 ISIS fighters that we captured in Syria and put them on trial," Trump said in a tweet, using another acronym for IS.

*"The Caliphate is ready to fall. The alternative is not a good one in that we will be forced to release them. The U.S. does not want to watch as these ISIS fighters permeate Europe, which is where they are expected to go."*

Oh my . . .

Trump wants to release terrorists so they can continue to terrorize. HAR!

Why would you call Dr. Carson utterly unqualified? He's more qualified for his job than Barack Obama was for president.

Hahahahaha because he's a brain surgeon, not a contractor.

Tell me, do you go to your mechanic for heart surgery? Why not!? Totally qualified!;)

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump can really pick 'em! Either they don't want to work for (or with) him or they are criminals!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

How so?

The rats are deserting the sinking ship.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

She used to be a nanny. Politics aside, I wouldn't want to be a mouthpiece for an immature baby-man who never grew up in the first place.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

She had been criticized by Democrats for her lack of diplomatic experience.

But it's ok for AOC?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

But it's ok for AOC?

Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is a representative, one of 435. She is elected to represent her district in the US Congress.

She is not the face of America, nor does she represent the entire country at the United Nations.

But please, keep tossing out non sequiturs.

The choice was with the candidate. Not a problem. Just find another capable person.

However, the argument for the requirement for "experience" is not necessarily the best. Experience usually indicate an "insider" or "knows" the past or "understands the system"... that invites "conformity".

There has to be someone that can thiknk and do things "out side the box"... espcially at the UN. UN has been primarily funded by the US for used by interest groups not necessarily thankful for the funding.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Sadly for those who like or dislike Trump... this is not a case for either.

She has NOT gone through the process of selection by Congress. There is no judgment call possible.

The point is.. all is conjecture.

She made a personal choice for what ever reason. And it is her right to make that choice.

@serrano How about we don't bother to replace the UN ambassador and stop paying 22% of the UN budget and save $600 million and put that towards the wall?..

Yeah great idea so while hes at he can get rid of the 800 military bases in more than 70 countries....

The he can build a wall around the whole of USA that is magna stuff gold letters every 100 meters....

Conservative, gay and a Bolton prodigy, what more can you ask for?

Intelligence.

A capable candidate would have understood the position before accepting the nomination.

Almost any time a nominee withdraws it's a black eye for the person that did the nomination, barring exceptional circumstances. Wanting to spend time with your family is not an exceptional circumstance.

Tell Warren and AOC that. Lol

Well, when you try to dig up dirt to destroy, it is a bad thing and once again, we’re it a liberal, woman and Black, the screams of crying fall would be all over the tube.

Tell Warren and AOC that. Lol

They weren't nominated, they were elected; they also understood their positions. ROFL! Smh. Lol! Kudos.

Well, when you try to dig up dirt to destroy, it is a bad thing and once again, we’re it a liberal, woman and Black, the screams of crying fall would be all over the tube.

Your compulsion to denigrate liberals is becoming rather trite. The nominee backed out for family reasons, there is no indication that this had anything to do with " dig[inflg] up dirt to destroy." Let's try to keep things relevant.
