Literally, he has been played the same way NK has played everyone else. Hook them in, make a promise, break the promise, get aggressive, make concession to peace, hook them in, make a promise...

Yes, but difference being that none of the previous administrations ever thought it was going to be easy. A lot of diplomatic groundwork by seasoned professionals went into previous initiatives. They never thought it was going to be easy and all went in to dealings with the DPRK with a healthy dose of “we know they can’t be trusted”.

The difference here is the seat of the pants, it’s easy I can just do it because I’m Trump lunacy.

Anyone mention how creepy that photo is?

I refer you to what Kestrel said:

So much hate from the left - even to the point of seeing something dirty in a father holding his daughter’s hand. Rest assured, it speaks volumes about you sick people.

If in this present time there's no Trump nor Kim Jong Un, peaceful world to us. We're living in this political nightmare to bear them!!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The trump hating media tries to sabotage any progress in the NK at all costs. What do the gullible consumers who believe these propaganda hit pieces expect? That a complex issue like the NK one can be resolved in one meeting?

Um, no. In fact we've been telling the morons on the right that Trump meeting Kim wasn't likely to fix the issue, and that NK has been playing this game for decades. The morons on the right were praising Trump for meeting Kim, as if it was something he had dared to do that no other president was able to, rather than something no other president has been stupid enough to do. They were calling for Trump to get the Nobel for this. All along we kept saying "NK has been playing this game for decades you can't trust them". Now the morons on the right are figuring out that NK can't be trusted, and they ask us if we think this can be fixed in one session. Um, no. Maybe if you'd listened to us all along, you wouldn't suddenly be figuring this out as if it was some special revelation. It's not. NK just played Trump - like they've been playing presidents for decades.

And look, you're even doing it here:

Trump has made trememdous progress in shifting the NK propaganda from war to peace already.

Don't you guys learn? Trump hasn't done anything. Literally, he has been played the same way NK has played everyone else. Hook them in, make a promise, break the promise, get aggressive, make concession to peace, hook them in, make a promise...

That is not something that would have been possible under a warmonger like Clinton.

You realize you are making an empty claim about how you suppose someone would have acted had they been given that opportunity, while at the same time defending someone who almost brought it to the brink of war.

Completely and utterly delusional hypocrisy.

The trump hating media tries to sabotage any progress in the NK at all costs. What do the gullible consumers who believe these propaganda hit pieces expect? That a complex issue like the NK one can be resolved in one meeting? That the Kim clan will commit suicide after being told to? Trump has made trememdous progress in shifting the NK propaganda from war to peace already. That is not something that would have been possible under a warmonger like Clinton.

Of course there will be be political theater with several walkouts like this. I blame the media for blind political activism and the media propaganda believers for sheer stupidity.

for Trump, Abe, Israel and main NATO players Kim is the blessing they do not want to stop. He is the main enabler of their military expansion and unlimited amounts of the public money stolen and put in to the fortunes of the military complex. They know he is not a danger but they provoke him and make him look like a menace and by no means will they make a real deal with him, they are even preventing any further rapprochement between the SK and NK because the SK is the only country with genuine interest in peace and normalization between the two Koreas. To the contrary American and Japanese governments and militaries are in a great fear of this actually happening.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No end of hypotheses based on political prejudice here. There is one thing which seems to escape many wouldbe observer's attention, if NK and SK reunite, the United States will no longer have reason or a place in the Korean Peninsula, and giving up their most strategic base (35,000 young Americans) vis-a-vis China is the VERY LAST THING which the U.S. wants to do. What we have seen so far is that President Moon and Great Leader (?) Kim are very serious this time about reunification. It will be good for both and for the Korean People as a whole. But America CANNOT allow this to happen. trump's taking up Kim's overture made to distract from the early days of trump's prostitute pains in the news was a political necessity for him. The second meeting demanding that NK shed EVERYTHING in return for vague promises from trump was just theatre and trump had no intention of 'negotiating' but was trying to shift the responsibility for failure onto Kim. For many here who read only headlines, the ploy clearly worked. But there are deeper levels here and, if the impossibility of the U.S. willingly giving up its military occupation of South Korea with China in its ascendency is not obvious, maybe it should be considered before judgements are made based on propagandistic words rather than actual behavior.

Lots of CNN believers in this section. Lets all chant:

KEEP KOREA DIVIDED!

(because orange man baaad)

Yes! Evil [MEDIA]! Do what we do!

Something no one claimed!

Because [mocking of the truth]!

yeah!!!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

KEEP KOREA DIVIDED!

Yep, that’s we chant at every CNN believers meeting; “Orange bad so keep Korea divided”

Meanwhile in the adult conversation, I read an interesting take earlier today that our best tack would be to undermine Kim by targeting his generals - selectively sanctioning some and not others, fanning rivalries, and by raising troops levels in ROK, drawing DPRK troops away from their sanctions busting activities. The generals would start to feel the pinch putting pressure on Kim.

Interesting idea

> It's a creepy photo because of Trump's previous inappropriate comments about his daughter.

No, that shows more about how some condone irrational behaviour of a man who has admitted to sexually assaulting women, who has ogled teens backstage in their dressing rooms and used to huuuge mates with Jeffrey Epstein.

I'm glad I ain't the only one noticing this. Trumpytraitor gushed on Howie's Stern's show about how 'hot' she is, he'd like to date her - he wants to MARRY her! And there's pictures and video clips on Google, Bing and elsewhere of these two that would make a dog upchuck. In fact, I'm feeling pretty sick right now.

Unprofessional, ill-mannered, obscene, creepy, sick, repulsive, rotten representation of America, 300% disgusting!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Oh looky looky, folks. He's holding the hand of his daughter-wife and she's giggling. Lovey dovey. Man, I'm going to throw up!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Ohhh, he sez, he sez. He keeps kissing Kim's rear end too. Don the Con never tells the truth, so why believe him now?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Inept isn't enough of a word to cover the Kim love-in that's become a national, nay, global embarrassment. There's something creepy about paying hommage to the dynasty, though. I do hope Ivanka never follows in her father's footsteps.

Which reminds me, the Tim Apple debacle was delightful and Trumpian when he said "we have to bring people in. We want them to be based on merit" whilst Ivanka sat at his side.

PotUS has taken gaslighting to a whole new level. Hard to see a huge amount of difference between the nepotism in the Kim or Trump regimes.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Maybe, but they didn’t get the most important thing that desperately wanted and need, a relief on those crippling sanctions

You're silly if you think that's what they want. What they want is to maintain power. To maintain power, they have to put off the west indefinitely. So they play the game they are playing, and because you guys thought the whole NK conflict never existed until Trump became president, you think they're playing some new game, not realizing they are running circles around Trump, because he's too inept to deal with them.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No one said that. No one in the last previous administrations even attempted to talk to Kim, they just gave in the entire kitten liter of sanctions and that didn’t happen.

See, once again you people are spouting crap as if you have any clue what you are talking about.

You act like it's an achievement to have met Kim. Any president could have met Kim had they so chosen to. Any president. The Kims expressed interest in meeting presidents for years. But no president was stupid enough to meet with them. Of course, you people don't understand why it's stupid to meet with them, so you call it a success.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So much hate from the left - even to the point of seeing something dirty in a father holding his daughter’s hand. Rest assured, it speaks volumes about you sick people.

Only low-information individuals think Trump's unhealthy sexual attraction to Ivanka is something to be lauded as plutonic. Have some Trump quotes to provide context:

I've said if Ivanka weren't my daughter perhaps I'd be dating her.

what a beauty, that one. If I weren't happily married and, ya know, her father... ," *

Is it wrong to be more sexually attracted to your own daughter than your wife?"*

ever heard of diplomacy?

Yes. It’s something the United Stated used to do more or less competently before the orange moron came along and hopelessly ballsed it up.

Hope you weren’t under the impression that’s what Trump was doing.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Kim could not care less about Trump. Kim will continue to be leader of DPRK for decades to come; Trump, on the other hand, has no future.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

In the eyes of Kim and his government, Trump is a real moron

Um, no, Hung Nguyen, heck, the Vietnamese government knows that's not true. You are not aware of this?

Trump has been absolutely useless on North Korea.

Not as useless as Obama and he had eight years. hehe

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Superlib: Seems they were willing to put something on the table in 2016 to make the games stop:

bass: Which is not a bad thing.

And then Trump decided to give it away for free.

And Bolton is ready to further tighten and strangle the regime with more punishing sanctions.

But, before we do that, let's give them a free concession.

Trump has been absolutely useless on North Korea. They are continuing to expand their nuclear capabilities and we're still discovering new sites. All Trump has done is give photo ops and concessions.

When is this master negotiator going to deliver something?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

So much hate from the left - even to the point of seeing something dirty in a father holding his daughter’s hand. Rest assured, it speaks volumes about you sick people.

And as for the current rabid pileon, ever heard of diplomacy? Its ongoing between Trump and Kim, and like many presidents before him he is communicating to Kim through comments such as this one, as Kim is communicating with him through his latest move.

Progress is being made. I suspect that prospect terrifies the leftists, hence their desperate attacks on the president.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

In the eyes of Kim and his government, Trump is a real moron.

That feeling is mutual, ask John Bolton.

Before any meeting with Trump, Kim attentively listened to his advisors

And you believe that?

while Trump totally ignored serious warnings of Mike Pompeo and his team.

How would you know?

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

In the eyes of Kim and his government, Trump is a real moron.

Before any meeting with Trump, Kim attentively listened to his advisors while Trump totally ignored serious warnings of Mike Pompeo and his team.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The next notch up from, “That’s disappointing” is the dreaded, “That isn’t helpful.” Surely Kim will give in before.things escalate to that level.

And if Kim doesn't give in by "That isn't helpful," he surely will before it escalates back to "Little Rocket Man."

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I think only liberals and the Norwegians care about it.

You think wrong. His orangeness desperately wants one because Obama got one. Begging foreign leaders to nominate him. Narcissism with no bounds.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

After two years of talking like you guys had any clue about what NK was doing, you're finally looking at history, and seeing exactly what we've been telling you for two years:

No one said that. No one in the last previous administrations even attempted to talk to Kim, they just gave in the entire kitten liter of sanctions and that didn’t happen.

1) Your boy is nothing special, because:

I don’t think he’s special, but he’s got guts and the will to try something different than what the last Presidents didn’t attempt to try and do.

2) NK is playing him like they've played everyone else.

Maybe, but they didn’t get the most important thing that desperately wanted and need, a relief on those crippling sanctions and in fact, they try to go back to the old days of proliferation, then as both Bolton, Trump and Pompeo said, they’ll hit them with more sanctions.

And you guys were already saying he should be nominated for the Nobel.

I think only liberals and the Norwegians care about it.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

I'm afraid you're too pessimistic, to use a mild term. The fat lady hasn't sang on this one.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

We remember that it was Carter in 1994 who negotiated a sweetheart deal that gave NK 2 nuclear reactor s and Usd 5 billion in aid in return for its promise to stop seeking nukes.

That was Hillary's hubby Billy Boy Clinton.

I dont think this photo is creepy its his daughter...can anyone say she is not absolutely stunning?

Only those who need glasses! Gave you a thumbs-up for that one, Northern.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

As compared to war - yeah. This is the game NK plays, but as long as they are playing it, they aren't starting a war, so better to keep going in circles with them.

Well, we shall see how it goes, from Kim thinks these drills get him off of sanctions, I don’t know what the guy is smoking. He did look a bit thinner though. I’m going to get a burger.

I thought you said Dems were radical Marxist socialists. Which is it?

Of their Marxist history, sorry

True. I don't think the USA is, either. But then again...

But the difference is, our stuff works and if you can control the air and sea, you pretty much won the war not to mention, Trump doesn’t care.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

President Trump is trying to resolve an issue every President tried to address and failed. We remember that it was Carter in 1994 who negotiated a sweetheart deal that gave NK 2 nuclear reactor s and Usd 5 billion in aid in return for its promise to stop seeking nukes.

I glad the president can question America's intelligence agencies. They lied plenty of times to get us into war. Like wmds and babies in incubators thrown on the floor and the gulf of Tonkin. Just to name a few.

Babies in incubators on the floor.., asi recall had to do with with the firm Hill & Knowlton and congressional testimony by the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambasssdor to the US.

Gulf of Tonkin Maddox “incidents” more of an indictment of the Johnson administration than of the intelligence agencies.

Presidents shouldnt blindly trust the information you’re right about that. But what’s really scary is when the intelligence agencies start to be influenced in giving presidents what they want to hear rather than best available info. Case in point with the cherry picking of intelligence about Saddam’s WMD. That wasn’t a case of the Bush administration not questioning the intelligence but of bending it, misrepresenting it.

This president seeming to go beyond that and ignore altogether when he doesn’t like it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Dems are happy with the historical status quo.

As compared to war - yeah. This is the game NK plays, but as long as they are playing it, they aren't starting a war, so better to keep going in circles with them.

@bass sanctions have never worked never will North korea has been playing this game for too long.

Better to play this game than to go to war.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

As if NK would have been bounded by anything when they feel the need or the right to change and move the goalposts, just like with the Democrats, they will do that without the slightest compunction.

Why the need to reference the democrats?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I don’t think NK is suicidal, but then again, you never know.

True. I don't think the USA is, either. But then again...

Short memory. The intelligence agencies advised the Bush administration of their information, and that they did not feel it was dependable. The Bush administration ignored that so they could go to Iraq and finish Daddy-Bush's unfinished job.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Seems they were willing to put something on the table in 2016 to make the games stop:

Which is not a bad thing. Now Democrats would continue to kick the can, continue with the drills and nothing would change. My point made, Dems are happy with the historical status quo.

The report also said that North Korean soldiers are waiting for "an order of attack" to destroy its enemy, warning that the loudspeakers are "within the sight of the KPA's multiple rocket launchers and tactical and strategic rocket forces." In an unusual move, a senior North Korean military officer held a rare "emergency situation briefing" for diplomats and military attaches in Pyongyang to deliver its side of the crisis.

I don’t think NK is suicidal, but then again, you never know.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un last year threatened to wage nuclear war against the South and its U.S. backers over the exercises, sharpening tensions in the region with a declaration that Pyongyang was no longer bound by the 60-year-old truce that ended fighting in the Korean War.

As if NK would have been bounded by anything when they feel the need or the right to change and move the goalposts, just like with the Democrats, they will do that without the slightest compunction.

“If your side ignites a war of aggression by staging the reckless joint military exercises Key Resolve and Foal Eagle again under the cover of ‘defensive and annual ones’ at this dangerous time, from that moment your fate will be hung by a thread with every hour. You had better bear in mind that those igniting a war are destined to meet a miserable destruction.”

Yeah so Trump just went ahead and took that off the table for them. And it looks like they are building again. So we have that going for us.

And Bolton is ready to further tighten and strangle the regime with more punishing sanctions. Kim, hope it was worth it.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

They lied plenty of times to get us into war.

Are they lying now, about Kim? And if so, what is their motive and why would Yonhap be saying the same thing?

Is every single person, organisation, commentator, accuser, politician etc who disagrees with Trump, a liar... I wonder.

@bass I don’t think so.

Really? Because yesterday you claimed that liberals were emotional

I’m sorry, as usual liberals... as emotional as liberals are... you see me criticize liberals, right... the liberals moaned and groaned... Liberals don’t deal in facts, they either deal in emotion

And today, you're saying the opposite. You can't have it both ways, even if you frequently try to.

Kim did not ask for all sanctions to be removed.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

But in all honestly, Trump was probably in a no win situation (??) If he gave Kim what he wanted (total removing of scantions and only one site pulled down) no doubt NK would still continue to make/use nuclear weapons. After all, he never promised he would totally destroy all his stuff .....

so its damed if you do and damed if you don't!

Under those circumstances I think Trump did the right thing (not giving up the scantions)

Bolton and his NEOCON cronies filling the main stream media with more fear rhetoric. Fact, correct , the satellite images do show renewed structures at a launch site, alternative reason, the same model rocket and structure is needed to launch a satellite. Oh, maybe you thought the North Koreans couldn't launch a satellite, why not, all other countries with nuclear weapons launch satellites, also other countries who have tested Nuclear weapons have launched satellites. There is more space junk flying around the earth at the moment that we don't know the reason of. I've said it before North Korea isn't a threat, it's just using its ability to protect itself, from what North Korea sees as a threat from America. Some other countries don't have alternative ways of protecting themselves from US interference.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Seems they were willing to put something on the table in 2016 to make the games stop:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2016/07/28/north-korea-united-states-relations/87659264/

“Stop the nuclear war exercises in the Korean Peninsula, then we should also cease our nuclear tests,” said Ri in comments directed at Washington.

And it seems they were pretty spooked in 2015:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2015/08/21/north-korea-were-quasi-state-war/32101537/

And in 2015 they seemed to be bothered by it:

http://articles.latimes.com/2014/jan/16/world/la-fg-wn-north-south-korea-threats-war-games-20140116

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un last year threatened to wage nuclear war against the South and its U.S. backers over the exercises, sharpening tensions in the region with a declaration that Pyongyang was no longer bound by the 60-year-old truce that ended fighting in the Korean War.

And from 2013:

https://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/24/world/asia/north-korea-threatens-us-over-military-drill.html

“If your side ignites a war of aggression by staging the reckless joint military exercises Key Resolve and Foal Eagle again under the cover of ‘defensive and annual ones’ at this dangerous time, from that moment your fate will be hung by a thread with every hour. You had better bear in mind that those igniting a war are destined to meet a miserable destruction.”

not to be taken as overtly sexual or with some sort of pedophile intent

Trump's undeniable sexual attraction to Ivanka, as demonstrated by Risky's post, are incestious because Ivanka is far too old for pedophial to be involved. You see, words have meanings.

I don’t think so.

It's a creepy photo because of Trump's previous inappropriate comments about his daughter.

Well, that shows where the minds of liberals are. They were comments maybe not articulated in the wisest way, but not to be taken as overtly sexual or with some sort of pedophile intent. @K3PO Exactly.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

I'm very disappointed with all the negative and sarcastic comments, especially "Creepy photo." As if a father holding his daughter's hand is creepy. I bet no one at the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board meeting think it was creepy.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Creepy photo.

Sure, if you want it to be. That speaks more about your imagination than the picture taken.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Satellite images seen by 38 North, a Washington-based North Korea project, showed that structures on the Sohae launch pad had been rebuilt sometime between Feb 16 and March 2,

Classic North Korea. That homecoming parade by Kim and his henchman was also a sight to behold. Trump, you have been played , player!

To think you can have a meaningful relationship with a despot may have been a tad naive, tensions were subdued for a few moths that’s all. Initiate the next milking phase.

Kim, after his red carpet showcase to the world, “Well, that was fun! “

Creepy photo?

I forget liberals don’t like any affection or emotion of any kind. Guess under their new rules I can’t hug or kiss my daughter anymore. Smh..

Well, I hope the two can keep the dialogue going and that Kim will come to his senses and understand there is No real future for him unless he denuclearizes and if he doesn’t do it, John Bolton said, they will in fact increase the already crippling sanctions that are devastating to the entire country, if they launch and missile offensive over Japan or begin saber rattling, the war games will resume and any missile launches that could threaten the US you will see the virtual end of the nation.

-11 ( +6 / -17 )

How is that Nobel Peace Prize thing going?

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Creepy photo.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Oh, please, does anyone believe that Trump is that dumb? Of course Un lied. Like Trump, it is in his nature.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Trump already knew it was going to happen. He's trying to play the "unwitting moralist" to save face and appease his voter base.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

The answer is simple Donnie; just ask Kim to deny it, then state that you believe him, then discard your own intelligence agencies' reports and finally blame it on the fake media or Cohen. It sort of worked with Russian & Saudi Arabia.

16 ( +17 / -1 )

"There is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea."

Boy did they fool Trump.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

"I would be very disappointed if that were happening," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, when asked if North Korea was breaking a promise. “Well we’re going to see. It’s too early to see. ... It's a very early report. We're the ones that put it out. But I would be very, very disappointed in Chairman Kim, and I don't think I will be, but we'll see what happens. We'll take a look. It'll ultimately get solved."
