U.S. lawmakers head home amid impasse over Trump impeachment trial

Pelosi invited Trump, only the 3rd President to be impeached in the history of the United States, to be represented at the impeachment hearings. Trump declined.

This has all been 100% political. Trump is guilty of far worse things, but proving any of those hasn't been possible.

The Senate process won't be seeking truth any more than the House process did. US politics as usual the last 25 yrs.

America has a very reasonable jury system for courts, but that has nothing to do with this trial.

Reverend Billy Graham died in 2018. Clearly, he didn't come back to say anything about any politician.

Read today that over 600 Pro-Trump accounts with almost 600 facebook groups that link to Pro-Trump pages off facebook were removed and banned by FB. The accounts claimed to be Americans and were updated by people in the US and Vietnam. The organization behind everything was based in China. The Chinese govt has been after the organization, so there do not appear to be any Govt ties from Xi in support of Trump.

Which makes the global elite establishment backing Trump smile knowing that as long as he's in the While House, even though he's been impeached, they'll be able to get even richer and more powerful. Among Trump's base are those who want a full-on authoritarian system, which isn't new to American politics. Since the beginning of the country there have been people wanting a king-like leader. Remember, many Americans supported both Hitler and Stalin.

Today many in Trump's base have such disdain for the bits remaining of the democratic system established by the US Constitution that they see their fellow countrymen (I’m only referring to the ‘American’ GoTrumpers, not their ‘global’ backers) as the ‘enemy’. They wear shirts saying ‘I’d rather be Russian than Democrat’. The only positive is the Trump supporters no longer claim to be patriotic. To the US, at least.

What Pelosi can do is delay a vote on the second resolution to name impeachment managers (the folks who will essentially try the case in the Senate) for however long she wants. She has control right now. Particularly considering that McConnell has said he is fully coordinating with the White House (um, since when are jurors allowed to coordinate with the lawyers for the defense?) and he won’t even consider allowing witnesses to speak at the trial, I’m glad to know that the House doesn’t have to relinquish the process completely to the Senate.

Nancy Pelosi is obviously one sharp cookie. She's been dealt a losing hand by the Senate, thanks in large part to Moscow Mitch, and she's going to take her own sweet time with it. In the meantime, Trump is going bonkers and demanding a fair trial, even though he's been stonewalling all investigations and denying key witnesses from testifying.
