McConnell said 'progressive', another pejorative used by Republicans and others who see 'progress' as one more thing their followers should be afraid of in the R's ongoing efforts to keep their base cowering. The R's have convinced their followers that their back to the good old days (that probably never were), back to the garden, back to when America was great myths are real. While the GOP 'elite' 'establishment' like McConnell get richer and so many of their followers suffer economically believing another myth, that some day they'll be trickled down on.

$4 trillion for Main Street in extra spending in one year isn’t enough? The money from the last three bloated debt bombs hasn’t even been spent yet. Just don’t ever complain about Trumps deficits after this. They haven’t even started talking about the trillions to be spent on infrastructure projects yet. Interest rates are already creeping up. Every fraction adds up to billions in interest that can not be spent on the needs of the people. Hundreds of billions are already going to bankers every year as it is.

“If this package was clearly about making sure that schools open, why is it that less than 5 percent of all spending for schools will only be spent this year?” said the top House Budget Committee Republican, Rep. Jason Smith of Missouri, at a Wednesday press conference.
The Congressional Budget Office estimates that 95 percent of the bill’s $129 billion for K-12 schools will be spent in 2022-2028, in part because much of the already appropriated $113 billion hasn’t been spent.
So why the rush?
Wouldn't be the first time California threw tax payer money out the window and again, more reason for the California exodus.

A vast majority of Americans support it, including a large chunk of Republicans. GOP Congressmen will pay a price for this and will gain nothing.
Why are they doing this? I dunno. Maybe the only card they know to play is to resist Dem legislation, twist it around in their media, and then tell the base they are saving then from doom.
Any other reasons you can think of?
