err, really? I remember the media and even health officials being fully onboard with mass gatherings with zero social distancing, as long as it was about BLM and Antifa. The press is addressing a readerhip with the attention span of a garden slug.

Not only do you remember incorrectly, but your post seems to have nothing to do with the text that you quote. It's states "some Americans are hesitant...".

One of the best things about having such a wide variety of media outlets to choose from is individuals are able to interpret what's been reported from so many different perspectives.

I hope the pandemic deniers and other far rightists around the globe don't once again try to claim isn't it swell deaths are down, and say anyway those deaths are OK because the people dying are expendable and they're not people I know.
Rot starts at the top. The USA gets weaker every day Trump/barr push the country faster down the slippery slope toward becoming just another banana republic. Worrying that it'll be a banana republic with almost as many nukes as Russia.
Toasted Heretic
I doubt it, judging by the amounts of Fox clips and various YouTube vids posted here.
That's no way to speak about the Fox followers. Some of whom regurgitate Tucker's narrative on a daily basis.

It's easy to forget that when Trump fans talk about the media, they don't mean the flagship news channel of the world's biggest media organization.

Thank God the markets have a lot of confidence in this administration...
https://youtu.be/l5C0AiT6FEc
None of the markets are showing anything near as dire, when they start selling off like crazy, there might be a need for concern, but for now, everything looks veeeery good.
No, the markets tend to panic and worry if they feel a Biden presidency has a chance because if it does, the US economy is at that point done, it’ll never revive if the Dems start instituting regulations and massive tax hikes. So if the markets are confident that despite the rising numbers and that the deaths are decreasing it definitely works to Trump’s advantage.

While the press is hyperventilating about "infections", hoping that the economy gets shut down, the CDC confirms that death rates are falling and will soon be below the level where this is considered an epidemic.

Ah so
I remember very correctly. Do you remember any media worry about Corona during the BLM riots? I do not. I do remember that 2000 NY health professionals signed a paper saying that protesting for BLM is more important than any infection.
The Corona scare came back to the media when Trump had his rally.
It is all politics ueber alles.

The markets are of particular value to Wall Street and the country's elite.
Main Street, on the other hand is being smacked.

NYC banned all large public gatherings..,,,,.except BLM protests.

And without it, the country is pretty much dead meat. But if you can show me poor people handing out jobs or payroll, please show me.
And they always will as long as the Democrat party continues to rape them on taxes, destroy incentives for small businesses, restrict growth, punish job creators.

These protests would be banned....iPhone autocorrect is nonsense sometimes.
yes they should be banned. Isn’t painting the slogan all over the street enough?

Want to know what these four states have in common? Each has a Repub Governor and opened early at Trump's urging... Result: Massive surges in infections and deaths, and more shutdowns harming the economy...due to their negligence.
Five months we've been at war with the virus, and we now have the largest single day number of infections to date - that's LOSING the war...
"Don't be afraid" - Sure Governor DeSantis - due to your incompetence the virus is surging across Florida - up over 1,000%! You're supposed to protect your citizens, not kill them...
More infections - more people dying - and your President wants you to sacrifice your children by sending them back to school...
And we know how that worked out for all those Trump supporters that showed up for his Tulsa rally...

No, deaths remain low.
https://prospect.org/coronavirus/unsanitized-deaths-may-not-spike-despite-rising-cases/
Take a look at the death counts, however, which have definitively slowed. Sunday we saw only 297 deaths, very low even when accounting for a slow reporting day. The seven-day rolling average is under 600 and headed down in a fairly linear fashion.
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/16/trump-florida-coronavirus-321600
On Friday, when DeSantis first spoke to reporters about the GOP convention moving to Florida in August, the state was setting new records for the number of coronavirus cases reported each day. But he downplayed the severity of coronavirus’s spread, partly because hospitalization and death rates remained relatively low and stable.
So basically since young people are recovering, less people are dying and DeSantis is not panicking as he shouldn’t it just ticks off the left like nothing else.
But Democrats want our kids to remain home even though they beat us all over the head to listen to the experts and their favorite savior Dr. Fauci also agrees since this virus is not as deadly for kids, they should be able to go back to school, if they don’t then that means many parents will have to stay at home, which also means they can’t work, which also means that economy will suffer, liberals listen to Dr. Fauci, the expert.
6.7 viewers is a lot of people, not quite sure how liberals are mathematically off but....

No, not true. Look at today's Tallahassee Reports. Confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths are all increasing. The death rate took a huge spike upwards yesterday. The other rates have been climbing for the past week or more

As usual, the media is playing fast and loose with the facts. Listen carefully to what they talk about and how they play "hide the pea". Cases, infections, hospitalizations, deaths.... all are very different stats and need to be treated differently.
Of course discovered infections will go up as testing increases. IF the number of deaths/hospitalizations doesn't follow, that means that the virus is less lethal than feared.
Similarly, when you hear that hospital ICUs are flooded, that actually means that the separate proportion of ICU beds set aside for Covid are filling up. The actual ICU is not. Most hospitals set aside 20-40% of space for Covid, so hearing "90% of capacity" actually means from 18-30% of total capacity. Hospitals have a financial interest in keeping Covid wards full, instead of having unused capacity going to waste.

"These protests would be banned"
The US Constitution guarantees the right to protest. To quote Thomas Jefferson:
"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Unsuccessful rebellions indeed generally establish the incroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions, as not to discourage them too much. It is a medecine necessary for the sound health of government."

We have a boy who will turn 6 in September and my wife and I agonize over sending him back to school under the current circumstances. While the flu like part of Covid-19 is often mild for kids they can bring it home to mamma and papa and get them very sick. In addition the inflammatory disease some very young kids get from Covid-19, the one that shows up much later, is genuinely scary. Don't be flippant about the seriousness of the decisions parents are being forced to make. Distance learning is a huge burden. We know that first hand. But we would never forgive ourselves if he became seriously sick, and since our little boy is a late life surprise him getting either of us sick could end in tragedy.

One of my relatives in Texas was telling me that she was having her groceries bagged and delivered to her in the parking lot so she didn't even have to get out of her car.
I feel quite lucky that I can still go to the local Japanese supermarket and walk around.

Why are you posting links which are well out of date? Why not just post links from March 2019 and tell us that coronavirus doesn't exist?

PTownsend; ironically, it is the left leaning folks who are the authoritarians here. THEY want social controls, closed businesses, no socializing, all done at the end of a government gun. THEY are willing to use violence to enforce these restrictions.
The right wants liberty.

erode hopes of economic revival
Great news for the Democrats!
If it were true. Nah, we're going to have the economic revival and it's going to start before the end of the year.

Just give people a choice. Stay home or go out. Ones who stay home may get depression or domestic violence, those that go out may kill themselves or their loved ones.
its all down to the word “may”.

Many of us knew this would happened and tried to warn others.
Of course it fell on deaf ears.

Would Washington not want to take a serious note about this?

None of the social distancing and closed businesses are new. In the late 1800s and early 1900s the US had numerous epidemics, diseases like typhus and smallpox. Closing businesses, even requiring populations to get vaccinated, were normal public policy measures to contain these epidemics. As far back as 1905 the US Supreme Court ruled states could enforce compulsory vaccinations of its citizens during an epidemic, see Jacobson v Massachusetts 197 U.S. 11 (1905). To quote that ruling "Real liberty for all cannot exist if each individual is allowed to act without regard to the injury that his or her actions might cause others; liberty is constrained by law."
To quote Thomas Jefferson: "Every man is under the natural duty of contributing to the necessities of the society; and this is all the laws should enforce on him."
