The MSM have chosen not to highlight this tip of the egregious iceberg of police corruption and cover- ups which (in every country) is SOP. Without the crucial evidence of a teenager's video posted online nobody would have heard of Mr Floyd who would have become just one more statistic in BL(don't)M. Every single one of those police complicit in this doctored report on George Floyd's arrest and death must be prosecuted and severely punished, not forgetting the two cops who stood back and stood by to watch a murder with malice aforethought.

Wait until the sentencing. Bet it will be light - under 10 yrs. I find it confusing that a single crime can be found guilty of basically the same charge - 2nd, 3rd, and manslaughter.

Nearly every police department needs to have the feds overseeing it. Training dollars need to be shifted from weapons to community policing. Police training needs to be more on the "protect and serve" than the "kill anyone who appears dangerous." Use non-lethal deterrents in all situations unless the cop or someone else is in mortal danger - like being run over by a car, being charged with a deadly weapon, etc.

In the Columbus, Ohio shooting, initial reports say the woman was attacking other women with the knife, so the cop had to do something. Don't know if Columbus police carry non-lethal deterrents.

I think there are pieces to the puzzle that aren't on the table yet regarding race in America. We're still stumbling through the conversation.

Initial reports? Even a blind man watching the video can see the knife in the teenager's hand while another man is repeatedly kicking another girl's face.

No doubt the police need better training, mandatory body cameras, and a general shift in police culture from the Us vs. Them mentailty that pervades. But none of these are, or need to be, racial issues. They are issues that impact all people in America. The police shoot and kill far too many PEOPLE, not just far too many black people.

The mistake IMHO is making this a race issue. That guarantees that a large portion of the population who would be sympathetic to the cause of criminal justice reform won't listen.

So Little Rock 9, Birmingham bus boycott; marching into packs of dogs and racist cops with batons, the voting act, the civil rights bill, affirmative action; MLK, Edgars, Malcom X; the sit-ins and the walkouts; the deaths. Theater? Of course, not. It's a legitimate response to a court case that has shown a policeman abusing his power to kill a man. Imagine anyone being scared by being pulled over by the police for any reason. The very thing that is supposed to protect you might kill you for no reason other than your skin color.

Justice has been served in this one case. But the case is a symptom of a much larger problem in law enforcement in Minnesota and many areas of the USA, which is the source...the disease...that creates this symptom of unnecessary killings of people who are not given proper treatment by the police. There is ample reason to investigate the on goings of systemic problems. And those problems are created by people who have racist tendency.

Yes, in a way, it is capitalism that keeps people marginalized and encourages a system that goes against the people in favour of profits.

But there is little doubt that the system is stacked against black people. I'd recommend Douglas A Blackmon's book Slavery by Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II, to get an idea of how the USA has reached this point.

This is what you would expect in a majority white country. However, black people are disproportionately more likely to be shot by police, when you control for population.

Lazarus; possibly. Latest stats show that, in 2019, 9 unarmed blacks were killed by police. 19 unarmed whites. Overall the police killed about 1,000 people, of whom about one quarter were black. So perhaps based on population there is a slight discrepancy. But when also taking into account the relative crime rates and number of police encounters, the discrepancy disappears.

And again, if your sole focus is one group you miss the bigger and IMHO more important picture.

The problem with the Left is that they see racism in everything, even when it's not there or not verified (ie mind reading). That weakens their voice in situations where racism is obvious and proven. Perhaps watch or read an interview with someone like Congressman Burgess Owens, who actually grew up in the deep south under Jim Crow laws. His father wasn't allowed to go to university in their home state. THAT is systemic racism. But to compare the genuine problems of the pre-civil rights era with today is disignenious at best. Just ask yourself- if you were African American, would you rather be alive in the MLK days or today?

Mass shootings of black churchgoers. Blacks out for a run shot dead by two white guys who pursued him. Black guy dragged along behind a truck. Serving black trooper stopped and threatened by cops in a traffic stop.

Another fact check for you to run up. 16% of homicides on White victim done by Black perpetrator. 8-9% White on Black.

This is true, a lot of dead officers as well and none of the liberal networks pay tributes to the people that try and uphold the law. The US is not perfect, but again, blacks could never reach the level of billionaire status in any other first world nation other than the United States and if whites were so racists every black prominent leader and celeb wouldn’t be where they are today.

It wasn’t overnight and Obama’s Presidency put that rant to sleep. Again, America is not perfect, and we do have problems with racial issues for example, in every major black city that votes for and supports Democrats have the lowest standard of living why is that? For over 60 years the Democrats have done nothing to better the lives of their largest voters and support base.

According to some because there are no racist laws or segregation there is no racism.

No one is claiming that. The problem is, liberals conflate the two. They link racial problems to racism and although not directly but indirectly implying that the US is a racist nation and it’s not.

Even the rich blacks still experience racism at times. They too are often judged by the color of their skin, not by the color of their skin.

There is also a lot of racism among blacks as well, between light and dark-skinned blacks and that’s another secret that the left refuses to talk about. These are deep topics that liberals and the black community will openly talk about.
