Narrator voice: Except it isn't.

The Great Orange Caveman caves again - I wonder which far-right nut will stiffen his backbone this time...

Trump today: "I'll move forward on DACA if I get my money for my symbolic wall..."

Ingram/Limbaugh later today: "The President is supporting amnesty - this is the end of his Presidency..."

Trump tomorrow: "I never said I would support a DACA deal..."

This will throw the Repubs in Congress in turmoil - I don't see the immigrant haters in the Freedom Caucus buying this deal.

More "The Art of the Fail"...

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Hate always motivates the Dem base.

The irony is dripping off this statement.

5 ( +12 / -7 )

Hang on. Is this a proposal to Democrats, or an address to the nation? Because if it's an address to the nation, that is not how negotiations are performed. That is how reality TV keeps its viewership.

Nobody cares about what this lying Republican jerk has to say anymore.

Just stop messing with us.

United we stand.

5 ( +13 / -8 )

Trump is starting to buckle.

That said I still think he’s not going to fold for a long time. He’s hoping the democrats will buckle before his party turns on him, or the Mueller report gets released.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

This is no compromise as Trump didn't really give anything. The protection for DACA that Obama introduced and Trump tried to rescind is tied up in court now, so extending it would have no meaningful impact until the court's decision is handed down. Also, Trump has offered measly a three-year extension of what Obama wanted permanent; the court may provide better terms.

Trump thinks Dems will violate their values twice - the wall and selling DACA short - because that's what he would do.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Imagine: You were brought to the US as a child and know no other country. Now you're in your early 20s. When applying for a job or a mortgage, under Trump's proposal, you'd have to say, "Well, I may be deported in three years."

Stability brought by certainty is what the Dems want.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

we all can see its a scam, the same goes for border security, the Dems never cared since I was in my teens, they never talked about any plan for sealing off the border in any great detail, never done any work to show that they have done something about,

You constantly forget the two bipartisan bills on immigration reform that house republicans killed in 2013. ROFL! Smh. Oh my . . . LOL. Kudos! Unicornverse. HAR!

then it’s price worth paying if tha means we can finally and properly secure the border,

You are again forgetting that border crossings north to south outstrip south to north border crossings. Furthermore, you are forgetting that border crossing south to north have been on the decline for over a decade (thanks Obama).

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Politically this was a smart move by Trump. He offered nothing that could actually be used as the basis of a compromise, but it gave the appearance of having offered an olive branch, putting the ball back in the Democrats court. It will be interesting to see the Democrat response. I suspect it will be something just as unrealistic, but with the appearance that it is. Essentially playing Trump’s move against him. I think they should ask for gun control.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Rightly so.

Do you have a social security number? Do you have a passport? No? You are an illegal at this point.

Three years for deportation?

No, much sooner. Law is law.

This attitude is so... immoral. These people know no other country, no other life.

But their parents screwed up so too bad for them.

In a nation built on immigration.

It’s sad.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Illegals are treated better than our homeless American citizens, shameful.

Well treat your homeless citizens better then.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

She says the wall is immoral but a majority of polled US citizens says no

I don’t about the results of polls asking about the morality of the wall, but the polls I’ve seen show a majority of US citizens against the construction of a wall.

Surely that’s the key question.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Because it was another scam and never provided a permanent solution to soundly and securely build a strong wall, barricade or improved and increased border fencing

So the republicans that supported those two bills didn't care about border security either. Thanks for clarifying that. Smh. ROFL! Lol. Kudos! Unicornverse. HAR!

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Illegals are treated better than our homeless American citizens, shameful.

It's shameful then that your homeless American citizens are treated so badly. Shameless that the rest of you American citizens do nothing about it.

We would if the Democrats would put priority into it

You had two years with control of both the House and the Senate, and instead of using it to help American citizens down on their luck, you spent it trying to undo everything Obama had done, both at home and abroad. 'The Dems won't let us' holds no water.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The children of Angel Moms are real people. Every person that is a victim of the hundreds of thousands of crimes committed by illegal migrants are real people.

Wolf, you should know that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at a far lower rate than natives. The cause is obvious: riding your bike on the wrong side of the street could get you deported (this happened in my home town). Some stats are here. https://www.businessinsider.com/undocumented-aliens-violent-crime-murder-statistics-data-2018-8

And spare me the crocodile tears with that tripe moniker "angel moms." If conservatives were truly concerned about gun deaths, they'd go after the guns.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Just walls don't work without technology and personnel. All illegals need are ladders, shovels, steel cutters, jack hammers. Also they can just throw over the drugs with no border patrol around. A wall with no tech or personnel is really no wall

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Seeing donnie fiasco standing in front of a portrait of Washington just reminds me how far the states have fallen from grace, circling the bowl.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

I think Trump should do these every weekend. Just add more and more to show there is nothing Dems will accept. It’s political theater.

I agree. Imagine how much evidence Trump would give Mueller if Trump gave speeches every week! We all know Trump wouldn't be able to stay on point and couldn't resist mouthing off.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

just like the Dems want to give Trump less than half of the money he originally requested.

The difference is that democrats are trying to protect real people, while trump is trying to fulfill a campaign slogan. Why isn’t Mexico paying? It would solve all problems. It’s so easy but trump is too weak to make Mexico angry.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Do you have a social security number? Do you have a passport? No? You are an illegal at this point.

This is not how it's determined whether someone is an undocumented immigrant.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Taxpayers who pay for the welfare, healthcare, and make up for the income taxes not paid by illegal migrants are real people

You would benefit greatly from research.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Dreamers may stay in the country that they were brought to as babies for three more years, and then they have to get out. That is not a very appealing deal.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Democrats have a head start.

What do you mean? But No, it's Ann, Rush, and Hannity. They don't approve of any DACA deal

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Immigration judge teams, humanitarian assistance, TPS, DACA. Doesn’t matter what Ann Coulter says, Trump offered it.

Because "Donnie's backbone" won't let him - he'll cave just like he did before...

Moreover, its all temporary - you can't trust Donnie to keep his word.

Why don’t Dems take it? What else do you want?

Dems may take it, but the hard-line Repubs in the Senate won't - Mitch is in a pinch...

3 ( +3 / -0 )

You'll see Pelosi, Schumer and the rest of the social justice Democrats say no to this, which proves they never cared about the Dreamers.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Democrats put forward their own offer: $1.3bn in border security funding and hundreds of millions for immigration judges and improving ports of entry.

There's your deal Donnie - show us what a great negotiator you are... Open/fund the government and secure our air and seaports while negotiations are underway - or are you going to continue to leave our air and sea ports open to terrorists?

They also pointed out that the White House was not embracing a permanent solution for Dreamers, from whom Trump rescinded protections in 2017, but offering only three years in which they could obtain work permits and not fear deportation.

Absolutely true - you can't trust this serial liar. Especially when he's under the thumb of nuts like Ingram, Hannity, and Limbaugh...

2 ( +4 / -2 )

We would if the Democrats would put priority into it instead of just leaving them to wallow in their own urine and feces.

Why not just "we will" or "we are" without the need to blame the Democrats? It's because Republicans can't take responsibility. Trump even said he'd take responsibility for the shutdown but is still trying to blame the Democrats for it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It almost seems as if this is some kind of... how did you guys put it... payback "New York style". There was an actual REAL compromise offered which a lot of Republicans supported but Trump turned down flat. Everyone is being petty and it needs to change. The egos at the top of both sides need to be removed.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

*And Trumps proposal also addressed technology, hiring of human resources in the form of more border agents and addition of beds in the holding centers for asylum seekers. What else do you need?*

No, not going to work because Ann Coulter does not approve (see above). NO ILLEGALS PERIOD!!!

What else do you need?

Then why didn't Trump go for the previous deal? Look:

Trump seeks $25 billion for border wall, offers 'Dreamer' citizenship

(news source Jan 2018 - and when Repulicans were in charge) Oh, that's right- Rush, Ann, and Hannity said NO)

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If this gets 60 votes in the Senate, then what? Pelosi will still say no?

Conservatives whining and screeching because Dems are doing to Trump what Repubs did to Obama is comedic gold!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Doesn’t matter what Ann Coulter says

Yes, it does. It did last time. Trump was about to sign then Ann, Rush, and Hannity slammed Trump then Trump decided not to go for it (and and this was under Republican House control). It matters 100% now because it mattered 100% before. Ann Coulter is in control. Ann Coulter was the reason why the previous offer did not go through.

Why don’t Dems take it?

Well, how about.....

Trump seeks $25 billion for border wall, offers 'Dreamer' citizenship

(past news source of previous deal)

Why didn't Trump do this deal. It's 5x the amount for his wall. Please explain why this did not go through previously. Ann Coulter didn't want it then and she (and Rush and Hannity) don't want it now. They hate illegals and want them all out. No negotiation.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

When Obama and Clinton wanted money to secure the boarder the Democrats jumped without a problem Trump wants to fix the gaps the Democrats don't want to do anything - The Democrats whole argument has nothing to do with DACA, compassion or anything else they want to claim, its all about going against the President.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Black, I don't accept "talking points," but I do like data. Of interest this morning were two points: that both Texas and California, both border states, rank among the lowest in the country regarding opioid usage, and that that usage rate hasn't budged in a decade. Meanwhile, that in the northeast - a white bastion - has soared.

Illegal immigrant numbers have plunged, with a majority being visa overstayers. Drugs mostly arrive by ship. Let's try to be effective. These are not "talking points." These are data.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I am talking about the talking points as to why Dems can’t accept his proposal.

No, Ann Coulter does not agree (see her tweets)

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Are you simply declining everything you want to prevent Trump from getting a wall too?

Need to look at Ann Coulter for that. She wants 100% wall and no other component of the deal. Period. She wants all illegals out. PERIOD. When Ann Coulter speaks (and Hannity and Rush) Trump jumps. Trump was stupid to listen to her 12 months ago when he had the chance to have 25 BILLION dollars (5x). What was wrong with the deal 12 months ago? Why didn't Trump go for it then?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No one can tell me today other than it’s a good deal but they can’t accept it because Trunp gets a wall too.

(Sigh.) Okay, Black, three points:

Trump is conceding nothing that the courts will deliver anyway. (His negotiation skills are so transparent as to be laughable.)

Allowing Trump once to take a hostage in order to receive something will only encourage this type of behavior. (Repubs recognize this and know the next prez will be a Dem; that's why they're peeling off.)

The wall is ineffective, inefficient, and sends a terrible message about American values.

That's just off the top of my head. I'll read the talking points tomorrow.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If Ann Coulter doesn’t agree....

...then the deal is dead. Because Ann Coulter did not agree last time (for 25 billion - 5x the amount Trump wants). Trump could have had 25 billion 12 months ago and but Ann said no and Trump listened.

And why does Trump only want 5 billion instead of the chance of having 5 times that 12 month ago. Trump is a very bad negotiator.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If Ann Coulter doesn’t agree (a) who cares and

Trump cares - he caved after being humiliated by her last time...

(b) that means this proposal is a GREAT deal mostly benefiting Dems. Otherwise Ann wouldn’t hate it and I wouldn’t hate either.

More examples of binary thinking, "if its bad for me it has to be good for you"....ridiculous.

But Nancy doesn’t care about DACA or govt employees so still won’t take it.

She wont take it because a) it's only temporary, and b) you can never trust Trump to carry through with his side of the deal - he's a serial liar and swindler...

I'd love to see Donnie's face now - watching Fox on one TV and Limbaugh on another - and getting called a loser and "Jeb". His face is probably turning from orange to red...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It’s nice to see Trump crack and start offering concessions. Pelosi is working him over.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

backtracked

Is this deal really going to go through? Ann Coulter doesn't like it. Why didn't Trump go for the deal 12 months ago with 5x the money for border security?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

On the topic of illegals being receiving a better level of treatment than the homeless. It would really depend on the state the homeless are homeless.

Some states have some great homeless programs and assistance and aid, private sector and state funded.

Also, illegals caught and sent back in cases like Latinos. I would say their treatment would vary on what state they were caught coming in illegally.

If a Brit or an Australian was caught coming into the United States illegally would their treatment be any different than Latinos as well South Americans in general?  I would say yes. I would say there is a great deal of prejudices being put on Latinos and South Americans right now. And especially in today’s hostile political environment.

Could we all agree on this?

America needs to modernize and secure its borders on all fronts somehow some way.

America needs to overhaul the very outdated immigration system.

Non-biasedly. Walls seem to work to an extent in other countries. However, the United States is so vast. So big.  A wall can be compromised with a tall enough ladder. The wall update is just one piece of this soution possibly. I am not 100% sold on the idea. I also do not like the message it sends to Mexico.

It is enraging to no end to hear that police officer's life was taken by an illegal alien. Or a rape. Or a murder.

Those familes affected have a right to be unsettled and angry.

I could even say that illegals get better treatment than our veterans. Another system failing maybe to talk about on another day.

One thing is certain. The back and forth between Pelosi and Trump better stop. Nothing productive is getting done to further solutions on immigration and coming up with a viable soution. Stalemate. I casted a vote cause I wanted change and action. Not this. Not this shutdown.

Got to get something going. This shutdown is not helping.

URGENT UPDATE:

Ann Coulter Mocks Trump's Dreamers 'Amnesty,' Calls Him A Jeb

(news flash)

Trump's solution: Let's just amnesty them!

100 miles of border wall in exchange for amnestying millions of illegals. So if we grant citizenship to a BILLION foreigners, maybe we can finally get a full border wall.

Trump proposes amnesty. We voted for Trump and got Jeb!

(Ann Coulter Tweets)

Sorry, this is not going to work. There can only be the Trump wall and ONLY the Trump wall. Trump must rescind his deal. It is a failure. Coulter has ordered Trump to only build the wall with no DACA deal.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

And the humiliation begins again...

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/01/19/trump-shutdown-deal-republican-reaction-1116056

Who wants to bet Donnie will flip-flop once more....

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It’s so easy but trump is too weak to make Mexico angry.

What planet are you living on? The reason the Democrats are melting left and right is this TRUMP PHENOMENON is too strong and scary for the lefts agenda. When Trump nominates the next Supreme Court justice, it will all but be over for the left, as that will solidify the next 30 years of American policy. That’s what the Dems. Are really trying to stop.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Trump's base is in revolt.....what's Donnie going to do? Oh yea, we know....CAVE..

No poll states that, in fact, it went up not only with his base but with the Republican Party. If the Dems don’t want to fund the wall, work with this President, then the shutdown will continue and the people won’t get paid, but I know I will. Thank God for the private sector.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You will want permanent protection/citizenship for DACA and TPS but still no wall in return.

Yup. And that's what we'll get. Meanwhile, 1/3 of the government is shut down.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I’m personally overjoyed you won’t accept it as I didn’t want that deal offered.

So you arecfor the shutdown that is making the US less safe. Sweet.

How? Did she give concessions on the wall funding?

Nope, but Donny started offering concessions with DACA. It really isn't that hard to understand what Super said.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

No, I am for the Democrats funding the wall to make us safer, but if the Dems don’t care and want to put more peoples lives as well as allow for more illegal border crossings speaks volumes as to where these people stand.

You're so excited to comment, you don't even realize when you're commenting on a reply that wasn't meant for you. Calm down, skippy.

As to your rant about Democrats. It simply doesn't reflect reality. Additionally, there are far more effective ways to manage immigration than a wall, but you guys are so scared you can't see straight.

Yes and Pelosi rejected it....oh well, no DACA, No wall, No liberal progressive legislation going through the Senate, so be it.

Again, I wasn't speaking to you. It's good to see you showing your true colors though. You could care less about the safety of the US, you just want a Trump victory.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Why didn't Trump go for the deal 12 months ago with 5x the money for border security?

Bevause he's weak on border security. He wants open borders so he can cheaply staff his resorts.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

allow for more illegal border crossings

Reagan is the last person who inked millions amnesty and gave out millions of greencards. That is why Ann Coulter is calling Trump a traitor. 5 billion in not going to do much. He could have had 5x that 12 months ago

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Illegals are treated better than our homeless American citizens, shameful.

Nope.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Immigration hardliners on Saturday afternoon blasted President Donald Trump's proposed deal to end the government shutdown, attacking his offer of temporary protection for some undocumented immigrants in exchange for border wall funding.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) tweeted: "A Big Beautiful Concrete Border Wall will be a monument to the Rule of Law, the sovereignty of the USA, & @realDonaldTrump. If DACA Amnesty is traded for $5.7 billion(1/5 of a wall), wouldn’t be enough illegals left in America to trade for the remaining 4/5. NO AMNESTY 4 a wall!"

“Trump proposes amnesty. We voted for Trump and got Jeb!” Coulter added,

Tom Fitton, president of the right-wing activist group Judicial Watch, also denounced Trump’s proposal, tweeting that the overture to Democrats “will encourage more illegal immigration and undermine the rule of law.”

Roy Beck, president of the anti-immigration organization NumbersUSA, called the president’s offer “a loser for the forgotten American workers who were central to his campaign promises.”

“Trading amnesty for future promises of enforcement is always a bad deal,” said RJ Hauman, government relations director at the Federation for American Immigration Reform.

Trump's base is in revolt.....what's Donnie going to do? Oh yea, we know....CAVE.....

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Why don’t Dems quickly accept Trump’s generous offer that even his own base is attacking him for even offering?

Can’t you realize that his own people attacking him means this is the best deal you will ever get?

I love Sundays when liberals don’t have their talking points given to them yet. What is his offer lacking that you want? You can’t tell me what’s wrong with his offer because you haven’t been told yet.

Maybe that’s why Trump made the offer on a weekend?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

People earning the lowest wages. More democrats.

Low-wage earners are overwhelmingly conservative.

I would have rejected the offer too. People illegally in the USA needs to be held accountable. Life isn't fair and if anyone told you it was, they were a liar. No free pass.

Yes, and next time someone is speeding with their children in the care, cite the children also.

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

The Mueller investigation is "a complete hoax." Just as the southern border crisis is, to use Trump's own words, "a complete hoax." Do you remember a real C-R-I-S-I-S from back in 2008 -- the Global Financial Crisis? There was no "bipartisan support" forthcoming from the Republicans then -- they were perfectly satisfied to ignore the pleas from Americans, American families who had been forcibly thrown out of their homes and onto the street. There was no "bipartisan support" forthcoming then, and there shall be NONE forthcoming now. As Republicans sow, so shall they reap.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

You were brought to the US as a child and know no other country. Now you're in your early 20s. When applying for a job or a mortgage, under Trump's proposal, you'd have to say, "Well, I may be deported in three years."

Rightly so.

Do you have a social security number? Do you have a passport? No? You are an illegal at this point.

Three years for deportation?

No, much sooner. Law is law. If you cannot follow the laws of the land. You need to go. We do not need any more illegal voters for the Democrat base. (proven by the way) Thank you very much.

Meanwhile in Japan Kim, Lee, Park Choi, enter Japan waters and under the cover of darkness. They enter Japan in some wooden bedraggled boat. Find work in some road construction crew for some quick cash.

Park tries to apply for a JCB card. Get's asked for his alien card. Does not have one. Get's flagged by Japanese immigration. They raid taking Park and his friends into custody from the share house they all live in. He and his fellow North Korean's get sent home (deported) with a hot meal!

The rule of law requires not just obedience, but also fairness. Do the paper work, apply and follow the law.

We normally think that people should respect and obey the law in democracies, even when we don’t like what it says. That’s because the law provides each of us with a framework in which to live our lives.

However, just as it would be tyrannical for one citizen to decide on the law and impose it on everyone else, there is a moral problem with countries just deciding for themselves on immigration and imposing their rules on people who have no say in making them. A fairer system would be made up of international rules for migration and take account of the interests of both citizens and immigrants, insiders and outsiders, combined with a way a resolving disagreements. In a perfect world ne.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

This whole 'wall' thing is a bit confusing. No matter whose side you're on (Dem/Rep), both make good points. However, unfettered illegal immigration in such large numbers will not make ANY country stronger. The US has PLENTY of its own citizens who are in dire needs and with people's taxes going to support those in dire needs from neighboring countries does not and will not help The US, and only helps in weakening it at this point.

I think fix what's broken and put a hold on allowing so many to enter at this moment in time and once things are in better shape in our own home we can start helping our neighbors, too.

For now, $5.7 billion dollars doesn't seem like a valid reason for Ms. Pelosi to warrant her refusal to budge on this shutdown. Yes, President Trump is not a nice/easy person to deal with but she doesn't seem much nicer/easier, either.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

To your scenario, this person wouldnt be having this conversation because they should have been deported when found to be illegal.

you'd have to say, "Well, I may be deported in three years."

At the best, the conversation should "I was supposed to have been deported years ago. I am so grateful that due to Obamas unconstitutional DACA I was able to grow up safely in the USA while getting an education that now allows me to apply for jobs and mortgages.

Do people illegally in the country now have a right to jobs and mortgages?

Trumps proposal would give them some form of legal status that is constitutional, but Pelosi rejected it before she even heard what he proposed. So when the Supreme Court upholds DACA unconstitutionality, Pelosi is to blame for their immediate deportation.

Myself, I think the Dreamers should be able to stay, without citizenship or voting rights.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

@Laguna

“Imagine: You were brought to the US as a child and know no other country. Now you're in your early 20s. When applying for a job or a mortgage, under Trump's proposal, you'd have to say, "Well, I may be deported in three years."”

Why would someone brought legally to the US as a child have a worry about deportation?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The offer is on the table. Everything you ever wanted to get. You won’t take it because Trump gets something too?

The wall isn’t negative, it just doesn’t work, right? So it harms no one. So what’s the issue in letting him get it?

thats like I offer you a dream job for 1 million dollars per year. but you turn it down because I get a referral bonus when you get hired. You hate me so you can’t let that happen, so screw your own self because you can’t control your emotions.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

When Obama and Clinton wanted money to secure the boarder the Democrats jumped without a problem Trump wants to fix the gaps the Democrats don't want to do anything - The Democrats whole argument has nothing to do with DACA, compassion or anything else they want to claim, its all about going against the President.

That’s all it is, nothing more.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@Strangerland.

This attitude is so... immoral. These people know no other country, no other life.

Though you may feel my outlook is immoral. If I am in this person’s shoes. I would have got my paper work and documents and application done when I became aware, I was not legal. I would have taken steps to correct my parent’s decision to enter another country illegally. I would have done everything the law allowed me to do to protect my ability to keep my life going in the only country I knew. Now if I was uneducated then I have a different opinion or disabled.  Staying in a country illegally is far more immoral. Let me ask you. How would you feel if you were in the same situation in Japan? You became aware you’re not legal. But you had an opportunity to get legal. But you choose to go on taking no action. Please I do not need lecturing me in morals. My moral compass is just fine. And pointing North. I was once married to a Japanese dragon lady at a very young age here in Japan. I subsequently and unfortunately fell into divorce. I went to the Japanese immigration to inform them I had been divorced. I will never for get it. I went to Kokura immigration and was told I have 90 days to leave Japan. I asked what my options were. I could apply for this Visa or that Visa. I had no children with my X making the issue even harder. Luckily, I found a job teaching English where the employer sponsored my visa on the 85th day. Where there is a will there is a way to stay legally if you want it bad enough.

Now, I am usually with you on allot of your insights and comments and enjoy your perspectives and will continue to do so.

But on this. We can agree that we disagree.

Have a great day ahead sir.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

If this gets 60 votes in the Senate, then what? Pelosi will still say no?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Pelosi declined Trumps proposal before he even made it because it doesn’t include certain items. Yet everything she mentioned was lacking.....is in his proposal

https://www.speaker.gov/newsroom/11919/

thats what happens when you don’t even wait to hear it and make responses based on what you think will be said

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Trump's thrashing around trying to find a way out of another hole he dug himself into with his mouth.

Personally, I say give him the cash in exchange for the DACA recipients because the wall (barrier, whatever the hell you want to call it) won't be built until long after Trumpnis dead, if ever. Think of all the beautiful lawsuits that will have to inch their way through the courts before the wall can be built!

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

Yet another compromise. I don’t agree with thIs one. I didn’t vote for Trump to have this be the solution. But to get the wall, this might have to happen.

but strategically it’s a great move. everything Pelosi wanted other than “no wall”. Yet she rejected the offer before he even made it, so now she owns it.

-3 ( +8 / -11 )

Pelosi broke the filibuster record for over 8 hours on just the DACA issue. She says the wall is immoral but a majority of polled US citizens says no. People will get tired of her constant blocking and the shutdown.

I see an “Et tu, brute” moment in the future for the Speaker.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

The difference is that democrats are trying to protect real people, while trump is trying to fulfill a campaign slogan.

The children of Angel Moms are real people. Every person that is a victim of the hundreds of thousands of crimes committed by illegal migrants are real people. Taxpayers who pay for the welfare, healthcare, and make up for the income taxes not paid by illegal migrants are real people. But of course these people don't matter to the Democrat party.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Illegals are treated better than our homeless American citizens, shameful.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Democrats have a head start.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Immigration judge teams, humanitarian assistance, TPS, DACA. Doesn’t matter what Ann Coulter says, Trump offered it.

Why don’t Dems take it? What else do you want?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

again you are telling me why we don’t need a wall. Fine, great. Irrelevant.

But you DO need everything he is offering in his proposal. So why would you not accept it?

Are you simply declining everything you want to prevent Trump from getting a wall too? Sure looks like it.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

If Ann Coulter doesn’t agree (a) who cares and (b) that means this proposal is a GREAT deal mostly benefiting Dems. Otherwise Ann wouldn’t hate it and I wouldn’t hate either.

But Nancy doesn’t care about DACA or govt employees so still won’t take it.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Oh so you are counting on the courts to give you the DACA and TPS wins? Good luck when it’s 6-3, you do know Ginsburg is out soon, right?

No Repubs are peeling off, actually some moderate Dems in Repub states will need to vote with Trump. If the wall is all those things why are you so afraid of it being built? It’s harmless.

ok talk tomorrow once your marching orders are out. Probably 3 years of protection isn’t enough. You will want permanent protection/citizenship for DACA and TPS but still no wall in return.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

So you arecfor the shutdown that is making the US less safe. Sweet.

No, I am for the Democrats funding the wall to make us safer, but if the Dems don’t care and want to put more peoples lives as well as allow for more illegal border crossings speaks volumes as to where these people stand.

Nope, but Donny started offering concessions with DACA. It really isn't that hard to understand what Super said.

Yes and Pelosi rejected it....oh well, no DACA, No wall, No liberal progressive legislation going through the Senate, so be it.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Imagine: You were brought to the US as a child and know no other country. Now you're in your early 20s. When applying for a job or a mortgage, under Trump's proposal, you'd have to say, "Well, I may be deported in three years."

Imagine: Your parents brought you legally to the US as a child and you know no other country. Now in your early 20's you apply for a job or mortgage. If you are qualified, under US law and most all other nations of the world, you get the job and the mortgage. You will never be threatened with deportation In fact, you will be invited to become a citizen. Your parents cared about your future and respected their adopted country. It's a beautiful thing.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

You had two years with control of both the House and the Senate, and instead of using it to help American citizens down on their luck, you spent it trying to undo everything Obama had done, both at home and abroad. 'The Dems won't let us' holds no water.

No, the Democrats had 8 years to create programs to educate and to strengthen the private sector, lower the tax code, create incentives and to teach people and give them the tools to be self-reliant as well as to completely seal the border and they did none of it, the only thing they continue to do to these poor people is hand out more and more entitlements, so why would anyone want to get up and do anything? Why would the homeless feel that there’s any incentive waiting for them or taking a chance when they know the party of big government and entitlements can give them what they need, food, drugs, a temporary place to stay (if you’re lucky) why would these people want to do anything? So the problem continues to grow.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Illegals are treated better than our homeless American citizens, shameful.

Nope

Yep.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Thats fine, they just walk right back across. minor inconvenience. Even murderers have been deported multiple times, yet came right back.

The cause is obvious: riding your bike on the wrong side of the street could get you deported (this happened in my home town)

I dont get why no one cares that the proposal was rejected before Trump even spoke. That makes Dems look really bad and unreasonable.

Next time he should offer his tax returns. Would still be rejected, because they would already have said no before they knew he offered it.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

And Trumps proposal also addressed technology, hiring of human resources in the form of more border agents and addition of beds in the holding centers for asylum seekers. What else do you need?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

What does this data have to do with Trumps proposal? He also funded technology for drug detection, $800 million.

I am talking about the talking points as to why Dems can’t accept his proposal. His base hates it, yet it’s still not good for you? What’s missing or wrong? Everyone will have an answer tomorrow when the media tells you why you hate it.

No one can tell me today other than it’s a good deal but they can’t accept it because Trunp gets a wall too. That’s politics which negatively affects DACA and govt workers. So now Dems own those.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

your Coulter obsession makes no sense. If she hates this deal, you should love it.

We are mad at Trump for even offering this much. Yet you still won’t take it. So fine, we made you an over generous offer and that’s it. I’m personally overjoyed you won’t accept it as I didn’t want that deal offered.

On to more shutdown and national emergency.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Trump is conceding nothing that the courts will deliver anyway. (His negotiation skills are so transparent as to be laughable.)

At least he has them, what are Chuck and Nancy’s skill sets besides being standing mannequins?

Allowing Trump once to take a hostage in order to receive something will only encourage this type of behavior. (Repubs recognize this and know the next prez will be a Dem; that's why they're peeling off.)

You don’t know that and at this rate and as looney as the socialist wing of the Democrat socialist party reminds unhinges and out of control, you won’t see a Democrat in the WH for awhile.

The wall is ineffective, inefficient, and sends a terrible message about American values.

That's just off the top of my head. I'll read the talking points tomorrow.

Laguna, then you don’t have a door at your place? Where you grew up there were no fences or you took a plane, no doors? How about the bar you frequent or the woman that you’re with, no doors, no protection or privacy whatsoever, if Walls don’t work, why does Nancy and people like Madonna, Cher, Oprah and George Soros have them? Why is it they can have walls to protect them, but the rear of us can’t? If walls are ineffective (I know that’s the liberal talking point this week) why would Democrats support it? Why do Democrats lie and say they are for border security, but they actually aren’t? Why do they hate Americans so much, but love illegals more.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

How? Did she give concessions on the wall funding?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

More examples of binary thinking, "if its bad for me it has to be good for you"....ridiculous.

Why? Because liberals got checked mate again on the hypocrisy?

She wont take it because a) it's only temporary, and b) you can never trust Trump to carry through with his side of the deal - he's a serial liar and swindler...

I'd love to see Donnie's face now - watching Fox on one TV and Limbaugh on another - and getting called a loser and "Jeb". His face is probably turning from orange to red..

You can’t trust the Democrats on.......well, you just can’t trust them on anything. The Democrats have lied, backtracked, tried to actually cover up their lies when there’s videos that show the exact opposite, so far Pelosi got nothing and from the looks of it, won’t get nothing for a very long time. CNN must be shaking in their boots. Nancy, they’re taking a count, get up! Chuck the mannequin is looking to Nancy and to Joe and Mika for his next cue cards.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

so those of you who want to mock Trump saying he caved, that means he gave Pelosi what she wants.

others of you want to act as if she didn’t get what she wanted, so that wouldn’t be caving and caving still to come.

Which one is it?

I think Trump should do these every weekend. Just add more and more to show there is nothing Dems will accept. It’s political theater.

Good strategy but stupid proposal that we don’t want. Pelosi should accept it immediately, it’s best deal she will get.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Imagine: You were brought to the US as a child and know no other country. Now you're in your early 20s. When applying for a job or a mortgage, under Trump's proposal, you'd have to say, "Well, I may be deported in three years."

Stability brought by certainty is what the Dems want.

It’s a starter just like the Dems want to give Trump less than half of the money he originally requested. Things can be worked out later, Democrats want the President and Trump to trust them, well, now it’s flipped, they should trust the President, they can always negotiate a better deal later. The GOP want sound and proper security.

You constantly forget the two bipartisan bills on immigration reform that house republicans killed in 2013

Because it was another scam and never provided a permanent solution to soundly and securely build a strong wall, barricade or improved and increased border fencing. But now the Dems have the opportunity as the party now in power to change that perception that they are weak...and so far, still nothing.

You are again forgetting that border crossings north to south outstrip south to north border crossings. Furthermore, you are forgetting that border crossing south to north have been on the decline for over a decade (thanks Obama).

Chip, let’s keep it where the real and main problem is and always have been, South of the border.

Strategically, the proposal is brilliant. Ball is back to Nancy, she gets to be the one who once again denies the precious dreamers what they have been waiting for.

Government doesn’t need to reopen for her to take this deal. But when she accepts govt will reopen next day.

content of the proposal is bad for “my side”. We didn’t elect Trump to give amnesty. I am unsure if the proposal itself will pass the Senate and I’m not sure it should cause it’s a great plan for Dems.

But even if it does they already said the won’t pass it. So doesn’t really matter either way. Back to the shutdown, the national emergency.

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

Democrats groaning, scoffing, hecking and making lemon-biting faces all of the time here.

Word of caution Mrs. Nancy. Come to the table and do your job! Your refusals are getting old. Own it!

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

The difference is that democrats are trying to protect real people,

By throwing the DACA recipients under the bus? Interesting....

https://thehill.com/opinion/immigration/369780-the-democrats-daca-scam

while trump is trying to fulfill a campaign slogan.

Exactly, which every previous politician pretended to make and did nothing, so he should make that promise and slogan and Trump was critical about the border long before he became a politician as far back as the early 90’s.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

It's shameful then that your homeless American citizens are treated so badly. Shameless that the rest of you American citizens do nothing about it.

Yup, but being the liberal entitlement State that California has sadly become and since it’s litterally run by almost all Democrats besides jacking up real estate prices and getting the votes of these people, there’s nothing else that the Dems are willing to do, they don’t care and that is indeed sad, the party gets what it wants in votes and those that can’t afford anything are regulated to the streets and left to deal with whatever life deals them. So the only rational thing that the rest of us can do that can afford it is leave the sinking State, now if you have millions to spare then you can have the best life and never have to worry about living anywhere near the poor and be subjected to the sights and smells of the forgotten.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

You had two years with control of both the House and the Senate

Too may RINOS, cleo, plus zero Democrat support in getting anything done.

And spare me the crocodile tears with that tripe moniker "angel moms." If conservatives were truly concerned about gun deaths, they'd go after the guns.

Spare me the crocodile tears with that tripe moniker"gun deaths". If Democrats were truly concerned about U.S. citizens getting raped and killed by illegals, they would fund the wall.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Wolf, you should know that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at a far lower rate than natives.

That's a weak argument, for their numbers as illegals coming into this country proportionally they do commit higher crimes

http://fairus.org/issue/illegal-immigration/examples-serious-crimes-illegal-aliens

And spare me the crocodile tears with that tripe moniker "angel moms." If conservatives were truly concerned about gun deaths, they'd go after the guns.

Oh, it’s about the guns now? Maybe we need more guns down at the border if the Dems don’t want to do anything. I like how Democrats and liberals want to diss “Angel moms”, but are outraged when Trump confronts an obnoxious “Gold Star” parent. Oh, the hypocrisy.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Rejected offer. Let's see, $5B that would people on the southern border to work. Dems can't have that. People working is bad.

Helping people decide to enter the USA legally by making border crossings hard is bad. Who do the low-skilled people hurt when they come into the county illegally? People earning the lowest wages. More democrats.

I would have rejected the offer too. People illegally in the USA needs to be held accountable. Life isn't fair and if anyone told you it was, they were a liar. No free pass.

Lets have another 29 days.

I feel bad for the federal employees, but they can call their representatives and voice their desires. https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative - give them a call.

-7 ( +10 / -17 )

Wow, President Trump offered a reasonable compromise and is the mature one in this mature one in this standoff. Who would have guessed? Okay Dems step up to the plate and help to end the partial shutdown. Or perhaps they prefer to sit in their backsides and stoke more anger and division. My guess is they prefer the latter. Hate always motivates the Dem base.

-8 ( +8 / -16 )

This attitude is so... immoral. These people know no other country, no other life.

And?

But their parents screwed up so too bad for them.

In a nation built on immigration.

It’s sad

Yeah, well, I find thousand of Americans living in the street sad, immoral and a disgrace as to how we can treat our people like this and put foreigners especially illegals ahead of the citizens that were born in this country.

Well treat your homeless citizens better then.

We would if the Democrats would put priority into it instead of just leaving them to wallow in their own urine and feces.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

The irony is dripping off this statement.

The irony is that Dems say they believe in inclusion but espouse identity politics and the divisive Marxist white privilege hate ideology.

Because if it's an address to the nation, that is not how negotiations are performed. That is how reality TV keeps its viewership.

Pelosi refuses to negotiate so how else is President Trump supposed to make progress? Perhaps if Pelosi and her fellow Democrats would desist from their junkets to the beaches of Puerto Rico and to Europe and points beyond they could find some time to meet Trump halfway and open the government. It appears that she prefers stoking division and disinviting the President from the State of the Union over compromise. She will even give up the chance to help the people she purports to sympathize with, the children of illegal migrants, just to spite Trump. The Dems level of hatred has warped their minds to the point that they are willing to harm their interests. It is fascinating to see.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Well, that proves it, the Democrats are showing, really showing this is not about the DACA dreamers they conveniently lie about pretending to care about and fight for them, we all can see its a scam, the same goes for border security, the Dems never cared since I was in my teens, they never talked about any plan for sealing off the border in any great detail, never done any work to show that they have done something about, they just don’t want Trump to have a win, pure and simple, Pelosi won’t do it. Now, if the Dems would be honest just for once in their sinister lives, I could respect that, but speaking in forked tongues is a deception the Dems are so seriously known for. I can say this in all honesty, Trump should hold the line and if that means a bunch of mostly Union Democrat voters suffer, then so be it, if that means you have to struggle, then it’s price worth paying if tha means we can finally and properly secure the border, then quit and get a new line of work in the private sector, then you don’t have to worry about getting hit in a shutdown, unemployment is the lowest 40 years, you can find something and get paid better and have a better life overall. Glad the President is not going to capitulate, the Democrats don’t want to budget he shouldn’t either. I’m just glad I’m not a government worker. Oatmeal time.
