If Trump was anyone else, in any other position, no one would listen nor give a damn about what he says or what he thinks, and would dismiss him as an idiot.

16 ( +17 / -1 )

The current occupant of the White House in Washington, DC is clueless not unfit to be POTUS ... day in and day out.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Trump said he had spoken with "a few" Democrats on Tuesday about the administration's proposals and added, "they're changing their minds."

Imaginary Democrats, imagined like the thousands of Muslims he saw dancing after 911?Not one word Trump says can be believed by anyone able to reason beyond 7 word slogans, that is by those outside his base.

U.S. President Donald Trump took a step back

How's healthcare coming along? Didn't Trump say... Again, nothing he says can be trusted.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Close the border. The immigration system is dysfunctional with one political party actively seeking to sabotage every effort to thwart the removal of incentives to illegal immigration, sex and drug trafficking, and gang activity.

-14 ( +3 / -17 )

If the number of migrants continues to grow I think he will do it. The White House is just looking at options to exempt commercial traffic and put together the logistics of how to make it happen operationally on the ground, which could be an even greater challenge than managing the economic fallout.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

"Closing down the border would have potentially catastrophic economic impact on our country and I would hope we would not be doing that sort of thing,"

Here's a way to minimize it: admit that it was a stupid idea put forward by a president without any research or forethought. Everyone will believe that and be happy we dodged an economic bullet.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

My comment from last week:

"Everyone knows it's an empty threat. Trump really doesn't know what to do."

He will threaten one more time in a tweet, then will walk back again. I can't imagine anyone except for bubble dwellers would fall for this stunt.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Here's a way to minimize it: admit that it was a stupid idea put forward by a president without any research or forethought.

Not at all, it was a brilliant idea because guess what? We’re here talking about it, it’s front main news today, got everyone talking, nervous as heck, has Mexico on edge, so much so that it has the leadership scrambling to try and bring some order to the madness coming from the influx of thousands of illegal aliens and now that they know this President is not bluffing let’s see if Congress and the Democrats are really serious. Look, I love avocados and mangoes like you wouldn’t believe, but I’ll hold off and eat domestic ones if it means we can bring this nonsense crisis under control.

Everyone will believe that and be happy we dodged an economic bullet.

We shall see.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

Dimwit backtracking after making an ignorant comment and his boot-lickers claiming it was a brilliant idea?! What a shocker. Wake me when Dimwit does something newsworthy like tell the truth.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

When Trump briefly closed the border American business lost $5 million. Threw the border areas into chaos.

Exactly!

Trump too has postponed dealing with Obamacare until after the next election.

Exactly.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Zichi, I'd read about Trump's healthcare debacle. Trump brought the subject up, and the reaction from the GOP senate was "Great. What is it?" Even they have been played so many times by this president that they will not fall for it anymore - he exposing them to political danger, blaming them when they fail, claiming all success when they (rarely) succeed, like Lucy and the football. But bullies are easily frightened. Two major climbdowns over a span of days is impressive, even for Trump.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Trump backsteps on literally almost every policy he proposes. Healtcare, border security, syria, the list goes on and on... Of course he's not going to close the border...he's loaded his gun and aimed it at his head, he's just not ready to pull the trigger yet.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Of course he's not going to close the border...he's loaded his gun and aimed it at his head, he's just not ready to pull the trigger yet.

He will if Mexico, the Democrats or Congress won’t do anything about the border, but it looks like by the way Mexico is panicking, he won’t need to do it.....yet.

Threats do work.

he's loaded his gun and aimed it at his head, he's just not ready to pull the trigger yet.

Exactly...yet.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

First he delays killing Obamacare, now he goes back on closing the border.

Our 'Winning President' loses a lot.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Now the Mexican leadership are scrambling to try see if they can curtail the situation.

According to Trump.

In other words, BS.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

I love this, the best news of the day where liberals think there’s no news is actually making a lot of news, let’s hope the President doesn’t have to close the border, but if Mexico doesn’t want to bring order to the illegal alien crisis, then by all means he should close the border, shut it down, then I’ll just eat homegrown domestic avocados.

Gee, even former Obama DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson thinks we are in a serious crisis! Wow! Finally, a Democrat that sees reality through a realistic perspective and not a political skewed prism.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2019/03/29/obama_dhs_secretary_jeh_johnson_we_are_truly_in_a_crisis_on_southern_border.html

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Mexican leadership are scrambling to try see if they can curtail the situation. Threats actually do get people jogging.

Trump backed off because business leaders and his own party made it clear that closing the border would be a very damaging thing to do. The only source for your claim about the "panicking" Mexicans is Trump. And we know how reliable his word is. (And please spare us the "I could say the same about Democrats" line.)

8 ( +8 / -0 )

@bas4 I love this, the best news of the day where liberals think

When 'troll the libs' is the best support GoTrumpers have for their idol and 'someone else id bad, too', it's clear they're no longer able to find anything positive to say about him. Yet they flip-flop along with him and continue to claim his toxic Kool-Aid tastes great.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Trump is probably panicking because every policy change he tries to do is called idiotic by his own party and team (outside Mulvaney, who is a brickhead as well).

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Anyone else notice how Fox etc refuse to report on the border and healthcare topics today, as its all damaging to Trump's image and shows what an unprepared loser he is?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I love the narrative that Mexico is panicking. Too bad it is utterly inaccurate:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.philly.com/news/nation-world/mexico-says-it-will-not-react-to-trump-threats-over-border-20190330.html%3foutputType=amp

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump backed off because business leaders and his own party made it clear that closing the border would be a very damaging thing to do.

Yeah, but we all know Trump is the President and does what he wants so there goes that analogy.

The only source for your claim about the "panicking" Mexicans is Trump. And we know how reliable his word is. (And please spare us the "I could say the same about Democrats" line.)

Sorry, No spare. You know I call on hypocrisy especially the liberal ones, but in all honesty, Trump is absolutely right. No one wants to see the border closed, but they can’t stop him and the Democrats won’t do anything, Mexico won’t do anything, Trump said so, but he will do it to show he’s not fooling around, this is very concerning for Congress, so this will make them get off their fat rear ends and take some serious and aggressive action. If former Democrat and DHS Jeh Johnson agrees with Trump then you know you’re in some serious crap!

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Yeah, but we all know Trump is the President and does what he wants so there goes that analogy.

How do you know this? He's followed orders many times. Here he is following orders again, and on healthcare as well! Lol

If former Democrat and DHS Jeh Johnsonagrees with Trump then you know you’re in some serious crap!

Trump is fooling around, or he would have done it already. Sorry, but if Congress were concerned, they would have done something already.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Sorry, No spare. You know I call on hypocrisy especially the liberal ones, but in all honesty, Trump is absolutely right. Hahahahahahaha. Loss aversion at its finest.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

This would not be necessary if Congress would just do their job and FUND THE WALL ALREADY! SHEESH!

Amazing how we got plenty of money for foreign aid and drone strikes but can't seem to get even $5B toward a decent physical barrier.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Don’t know what you were watching, but I saw it. They were talking about it all day.

What a shock that you watch Fox "News" all day. We couldn't have guessed that by you constantly repeating what they tell you to say.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

This would not be necessary if Congress would just do their job and FUND THE WALL ALREADY! SHEESH!

Why? The so called "crisis" is at ports of entry, not unmanned borderline.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Surely Trump can come up with a better solution that doesn't include destroying American border businesses.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

This would not be necessary if Congress would just do their job and FUND THE WALL ALREADY! SHEESH!

It simply isn't necessary. Trump's just keeping that ignorance driven fear alive in his base.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Surely Trump can come up with a better solution that doesn't include destroying American border businesses.

That would require a measurable amount of intelligence and sophistication.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How do you know this? He's followed orders many times.

And he also didn’t many more times. He stopped the aid, so....

Here he is following orders again, and on healthcare as well! Lol

Not following orders, but instead of being a trigger happy Democrat rushing to judgment, he’s at least put it out there and is waiting to see what Congress is doing and the same goes for Mexico, give it a few days and then act, seems perfectly reasonable, rational and logical to me, as for healthcare, that’s a completely different story, the best thing for him is to wait until he’s in his 2nd term to deal with healthcare.

Trump is fooling around, or he would have done it already.

He can’t as long as the sneaky Democrats are running the House, but back in 2013 and over the last 8 years Democrats could have done something and they didn’t and won’t. But they care...talk about an oxymoron...

Sorry, but if Congress were concerned, they would have done something already.

That’s the problem. They should then shut up if he then chooses to shut down the border.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Glad to see someone dropped the incorrect "Mexico is panicking" narrative and switched to "but the Dems!" line of "reasoning."

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Not following orders, but instead of being a trigger happy Democrat rushing to judgment, he’s at least put it out there and is waiting to see what Congress is doing and the same goes for Mexico, give it a few days and then act, seems perfectly reasonable, rational and logical to me,

LOL, not a trigger happy democrat, because he's a trigger happy republican. Do you not remember all the wild crap he pulled without discussing with anyone? I think even Pompeo almost had a heart attack when he said he was withdrawing the military from Syria.

as for healthcare, that’s a completely different story, the best thing for him is to wait until he’s in his 2nd term to deal with healthcare.

Because that's exactly what McConnell told him to do...lol. We know you watch fox, and I'm sure that's the only thing they covered. Thanks for reverberating it to us.

He can’t as long as the sneaky Democrats are running the House, but back in 2013 and over the last 8 years Democrats could have done something and they didn’t and won’t. But they care...talk about an oxymoron...

He can fool around, and he is. You don't spend more days golfing than you do governing when your the PotUS...

That’s the problem. They should then shut up if he then chooses to shut down the border.

Why should they shut up, isn't Trump and your entire argument for shutting down the border to push congress into doing what you want them to do? That would be completely backwards and destructive to America. "Shut down the border and don't do anything else!" Lol, you crack me up.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

How can Trump close the border if he wants to build a wall. Which is it?

He wants to shut down the border because he hopes the immigrants will actually try to cross at areas outside the ports of entry so he can justify his wall. Because the majority aren't crossing outside ports of entry currently....

4 ( +4 / -0 )

This would not be necessary if Congress would just do their job and FUND THE WALL ALREADY!

The Mexicans would just self fund ladders or shovels. Or just hiking shoes (to walk around the short wall)

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Trump's tiny immature brain doesn't understand how international commerce works. It's like dealing with a 12 year-old when explaining how the world works

5 ( +5 / -0 )

--Trump backed off because business leaders and his own party made it clear that closing the border would be a very damaging thing to do.

 there goes that analogy.

That's not an "analogy".

Here's how this particular snake-oil-salesman trick goes. Manufacture a fake "crisis" by conflating asylum seekers with criminal aliens, threaten drastic action (shutting off all trans-border trade), then call off drastic action by manufacturing a fake response by the "panicking" Mexican government. Trumpsters are impressed by this con game. They think Trump & Friends are on the ball.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The wall should will build by just stacking bricks.

Will be easier for Mexican to steal part of it to build their homes.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

LOL, not a trigger happy democrat, because he's a trigger happy republican. Do you not remember all the wild crap he pulled without discussing with anyone? I think even Pompeo almost had a heart attack when he said he was withdrawing the military from Syria.

Naw, I’m sure both Pompeo and Bolton deeply discused this in great detail as to which is the best way to handle this andcat this point, there aren’t really a lot of options as it relates to the border.

Because that's exactly what McConnell told him to do...lol. We know you watch fox, and I'm sure that's the only thing they covered. Thanks for reverberating it to us.

Yes, proud of it as well as other conservative to middle of the road news outlets, but no I can tell you since you don’t watch or read other conservative sites, so it’s been in ever show and is the topic, so healthcare is covered, but since Trump will wait until his 2nd term he doesn’t have to discuss this and there’s no need to drive it home, it’s over until then.

He can fool around, and he is. You don't spend more days golfing than you do governing when your the PotUS...

I or you don’t know what he does or what he eats in the morning, he could be watching and laughing at Maddow or Don Lemon, I sure do.

Why should they shut up, isn't Trump and your entire argument for shutting down the border to push congress into doing what you want them to do? That would be completely backwards and destructive to America. "Shut down the border and don't do anything else!" Lol, you crack me up.

Gee, it’s doom and gloom for the US of A if the border is shut, that’s the exact same nonsense crap the same people were saying of we shut down the government. Last I was there a few weeks ago, everything looked normal to me, closing the border will be painful, however America will recover and if that’s what it takes to get Congress into action and stop or significantly slow the flow of illegal aliens coming to this country, then I support it 100%!

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Chinese female spy caught inside Trump's Florida club carrying a flash drive loaded with virus. How did she cross the border?

Trump got her a work visa. He loves employing foreign labor at his clubs even when there is an excess amount of available American labor.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Trump just said he will shut it if Congress doesn’t act. Like I said....one more threat....

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Naw, I’m sure both Pompeo and Bolton deeply discused this in great detail as to which is the best way to handle this andcat this point, there aren’t really a lot of options as it relates to the border.

You're probably correct despite the mountain of evidence to the contrary.

It's simply amazing how ardently you defend Trump.

What's it like to have no integrity?

I or you don’t know what he does or what he eats in the morning, he could be watching and laughing at Maddow or Don Lemon, I sure do.

Funny how you magically know everything until you are trying to demonstrate how a liberal is incorrect.

We do know what he eats in the morning - fast food because he's a disgusting glutton - and we do know what he watches - Fox "News" because he's too stupid to think for himself.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Last I was there a few weeks ago, everything looked normal to me,

So there is no crisis at the border. Thanks for finally admitting that.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Naw, I’m sure both Pompeo and Bolton deeply discused this in great detail as to which is the best way to handle this andcat this point, there aren’t really a lot of options as it relates to the border.

How are you sure? It seems like they both freaked out cause they were in the middle east when he announced it and are on record telling him to wait....He also when on to say the military would remain, contradicting Trump.

Trump will wait until his 2nd term he doesn’t have to discuss this and there’s no need to drive it home, it’s over until then.

He won't have a 2nd term if he can't propose a better healthcare plan.

I or you don’t know what he does or what he eats in the morning, he could be watching and laughing at Maddow or Don Lemon, I sure do.

Right, but when government paid golf trips happen, we know. And he does it a lot.

Last I was there a few weeks ago, everything looked normal to me, closing the border will be painful, however America will recover and if that’s what it takes to get Congress into action and stop or significantly slow the flow of illegal aliens coming to this country, then I support it 100%!

I'm sure you were at the border a few weeks ago...lol

You agree with destroying American business and ruining American's lives to close the border? What a nice person you must be.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

According to Pompeo it's the Will of God!

It's like they believe that God hates immigrants.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Chinese female spy caught inside Trump's Florida club carrying a flash drive loaded with virus. How did she cross the border.

Maybe she wouldn’t have been able to close the border if the Democrats and congress did their job....

So there is no crisis at the border. Thanks for finally admitting that

So Jeh, Johnson is lying? Wow! So now we have a former Obama DHS loyalist lying.

We have more than 100.000 appreciations in March, could hit about 1 million this year, but it’s not a crisis. Yup, it’s now certain, the Dems will never take the WH in 2020 at this rate.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Maybe she wouldn’t have been able to close the border if the Democrats and congress did their job....

I don't think she closed the border.

So Jeh, Johnson is lying? Wow! So now we have a former Obama DHS loyalist lying.

You were at the border and you said it looked normal. So I guess he must be lying, or you are lying. Which is it?

We have more than 100.000 appreciations in March, could hit about 1 million this year, but it’s not a crisis. Yup, it’s now certain, the Dems will never take the WH in 2020 at this rate.

Whose appreciating what?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How are you sure? It seems like they both freaked out cause they were in the middle east when he announced it and are on record telling him to wait....

So now you guys have a 7th sense to perceive what others are thinking? Good, so do I and see he’s not bluffing about the border, he didn’t bluff about the ban as well.

He also when on to say the military would remain, contradicting Trump.

But already started a slow pullback

He won't have a 2nd term if he can't propose a better healthcare plan.

Yes and you guys also predicted he won’t get elected and the Billy Bush tapes will sink him, the attack on Khan and McCain will sink him, Stormy would sink him, Mueller would have him marched off to the gallows....Yeah...so anyway, into his 2nd term, it would be better for him to deal with healthcare then.

You agree with destroying American business and ruining American's lives to close the border? What a nice person you must be.

I agree with the safety and security of America, that’s why I’m for closing the border, I know it will be painful, but they’ll recover just like with the shutdown.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

I agree with the safety and security of America, that’s why I’m for closing the border, I know it will be painful, but they’ll recover just like with the shutdown.

The shutdown affected furloughed government employees, who were paid back. A closed border will affect private citizens who will not be reimbursed. You are wrong.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

"What appreciations?”

Besides, conservative News, I do read what the CBP and ICE are putting out there. I wish liberals would do the same, it would be a new step towards ending the DTS.

Says the guy that constantly tells us what liberals do and don't think, along with Trump. It's hilarious watching you bob and weave all over the shop.

But already started a slow pullback

Grasping at straws.

I agree with the safety and security of America, that’s why I’m for closing the border, I know it will be painful, but they’ll recover just like with the shutdown

If everything was normal at the border, as you alleged having seen, why would it need to be closed for the safety and security of the US?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The Mexicans would just self fund ladders or shovels

Yeah, you keep saying that, as if a physical barrier wouldn't prevent any of these people from coming in, which is just a figment of your imagination. It would stop a lot of them.

"We decide who comes into this country, and the circumstances in which they come"

John Howard, former Australian Prime Minister. This slogan got him re-elected.

LOLOLOL Australia, an island that is in support of liberal immigration policies. I don't see them building a wall and closing their borders either. LOL!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Yeah, you keep saying that, as if a physical barrier wouldn't prevent any of these people from coming in, which is just a figment of your imagination. It would stop a lot of them.

Employing more border patrol agents and technology would also stop a lot of the undocumented immigrants, so . . .

What is your plan for preventing the majority of undocumented immigrants? We know the majority enter the country legally and overstay, but you and the other Trumpophiles haven't addressed this issue.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Says the guy that constantly tells us what liberals do and don't think, along with Trump. It's hilarious watching you bob and weave all over the shop.

I guess Democrats would know a thing or two about that.

Grasping at straws.

But the same people cheer the Iranian deal...smh...

If everything was normal at the border,

”If” but it isn’t, that’s the problem.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

It was a stupid threat in the first place. At least someone who has his ear has gotten it through to him for a few hours at least. Of course, being Trump he may flip flop the second he hears the Fox pundit's take on it.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

”If” but it isn’t, that’s the problem.

You said it was though... lol Direct quote below...

Last I was there a few weeks ago, everything looked normal to me,

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Employing more border patrol agents and technology

What technology is that, please tell me because not a single liberal on this planet has given precise detail as to what that is and don’t say drones, drones don’t catch people. So again, what technology are we talking about that would stop illegal aliens?

What is your plan for preventing the majority of undocumented immigrants?

I would erect the wall and not give any illegal alien asylum, End it for the next foreseeable future, cut off aid to the 3 countries responsible for this, but their leadership on notice, threaten them if they won’t solve their problems with the gangs then we will solve it for them, I would shut the border and make sure it stays closed until Mexico and the 3 before mentioned countries and congress as well until they take immediate action.

We know the majority enter the country legally and overstay,

They need to go as well

but you and the other Trumpophiles haven't addressed this issue.

No, it’s been addressed, but the Democrats won’t do anything about Visa overstayers, they won’t budge on ending catch and release as well as birthright citizenship

Current Headline on Fox:

DHS boss compares migrant surge at border to 'Cat 5 hurricane disaster'

Invasions, prayer rugs, fake drug stories, hurricane disasters yadda yadda yada. At this point it will be endless headlines to drive fear, and fear will make a GOP base more readily accept radical policy.

The good news is that no matter how worked up they get themselves, it won't change the fact that they are in the minority. You guys are just going to have to take it on the chin.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Employing more border patrol agents and technology would also stop a lot of the undocumented immigrants, so . .

So, border patrol agents say they need a wall to help them do their job.

The migrant crisis at the southern border has reached a breaking point

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

bass: don’t say drones, drones don’t catch people.

So to be clear, you want nearly 2,000 miles of wall to be staffed with eyes on all parts.

I would shut the border and make sure it stays closed until Mexico and the 3 before mentioned countries and congress as well until they take immediate action.

Translation: The border closing couldn't possibly impact me so go ahead and do it because others will the ones who will pay the price. I'm a strong, brave man when I'm burning money in other people's wallets.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Sad, we have the most powerful military in the world, yet we can’t secure our borders.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

DHS boss compares migrant surge at border to 'Cat 5 hurricane disaster'

I think he’s being a bit too formal about that comment.

Invasions, prayer rugs, fake drug stories, hurricane disasters yadda yadda yada.

What?

At this point it will be endless headlines to drive fear, and fear will make a GOP base more readily accept radical policy.

Like the Dems with their healthcare doom and gloom scenarios. The GOP wants to throw granny off a cliff and want to see people die in the streets. Lol

The good news is that no matter how worked up they get themselves, it won't change the fact that they are in the minority.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that as the 9th circuit is also coming to a slow end for Democrats.

You guys are just going to have to take it on the chin.

When Trump closes the border, I agree. You’ll live.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

In order to corner China, we need to manufacture Japanese goods more in Mexico, Egypt, Vietnam and other developing countries.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

It's not about political views at all, just to develop other countries and lower costs, plus other countries have strong raw materials such as Africa and Latin America

2 ( +2 / -0 )

What we see here is incentive upon incentive  to migrate illegally, with no end in sight...at least until these Central American countries empty out.   Then the Lefties can start crying about how overcrowded the public school system has become. Yet the deniers continue with the false narrative of a “manufactured” crisis at the border.  Stand up and take a bow, border wall opponents.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

These linked graph show the numbers of illegals entering has steadily fallen since 2000 when the numbers were more than 1.5 million down to less than 300,000 in 2017.

I don’t care what NPR says, I only care what the people at the border or ICE say.

Thats the only thing that matters, I could care less what any media outlets think.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Serrano: So, border patrol agents say they need a wall to help them do their job.

Sure. From 2012 until January 2019, when some Trump supporting nut was put in charge, this was the union’s position about walls:

“Walls and fences are temporary solutions that focus on the symptom (illegal immigration) rather than the problem (employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens).”

Boy, some of those talking points sound familiar:

https://video-images.vice.com/_uncategorized/1547241985714-wall.png?resize=814:*

And get this. He even goes more nutball and says that they changed their position a long time ago but never removed the page because, “the union didn’t want to hide from its earlier stance. But because it continually gets brought up we made the decision to take it down.”

Yep. Apparently people were actually bringing up their 100% different stance which was clearly on their website so they finally decided heck, let’s just take it down to avoid confusion since people might actually believe us on our own website. So they removed it. The day after meeting with Trump.

Bass: I only care what the people at the border say

OK, from the top: The Reps from all districts on the border are against the wall...the majority of people in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas are against the wall. The majority of.....

Yeah, all those things are still true.

I would erect the wall and not give any illegal alien asylum,

How would these measures stop people overstaying their visas?

And FYI, under law, aliens applying for asylum are by definition not “illegal”.

The only way to have a productive discussion about immigration is by recognizing the differences between manned border crossings, unfenced border, and ports of entry like airports. Also the differences between asylum seekers, illegal border crossers, visa violators, and MS13.

Trump and his people like to conflate these things because it’s easier to reduce the discourse to a fight between “seal the border” patriots and “open border” leftist socialist Dems.

Close the border and deposit the current "asylum seekers" in this country on the doorsteps of the every politician and the leaders/lobbyists of the Chamber of Commerce who think unfettered, unvented illegal invasion is a great thing to do. Watch how fast they change their tune.

So you think we should close the border and let all the asylum seekers into the country immediately?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

the leaders/lobbyists of the Chamber of Commerce who think unfettered, unvented illegal invasion is a great thing to do.

You mean the leaders/lobbyists who got Trump to backtrack on his threat?

Doesn't Trump employ illegal immigrants to come to his doorstep, make his bed, and clean house every morning?

As I have said on many occasions, the US is only as powerful as its allies allow it to be. On its own, the US is just another nation and o more. Its time the US was told that its days of dictatorship are over.

In a sad way it might be better if there was nobody around Trump applying safety breaks to his recklessness. Then everybody (hopefully his base too) could see how utterly stupid and dangerous the man truly is. Putin must be laughing his butt off. The Ruskies have succeeded in smashing form.

It would stop a lot of them

It doesn't stop them now. There are already tunnels (This was shown to Trump) and drugs and people going over the existing walls. The wall will have to be 2,000 miles by 50ft and it will take decades to build.

Sad, we have the most powerful military in the world [With Trump as commander-in-chief], yet we can’t secure our borders.

It shoes Trump is the open border president.

I love this, the best news of the day where liberals think there’s no news is actually making a lot of news

Is Mexico still footings the bill, that's what I want to know...

Also, why build a wall if you can just close the borders?

Give Texas back to the Mexicans and deport all the gringo scum, since we're being nonsensical and offensive today.

Trump eases up on border shutdown threat

(news source)

Trump is weak, It means green light for more illegals. No wall and no border shut down. Also, no snatching kids. They are walking all over Trump (This happened last time with Reagan when he gave out 3M green cards back in the 80s)

Yeah, you keep saying that,

Gotcha, and Home Depot keeps selling ladders and shovels. Also, Shoe stores sell hiking boots to walk around Trump's lame short wall (in that case they don't even need ladders or shovels)

I don’t care what NPR says, I only care what the people at the border or ICE say.

Thats the only thing that matters, I could care less what any media outlets think.

Statistics and facts are more important than opinions when it comes to formulating policy.

In other words, Republicans: facts don't care about your feelings.

Shut the border; that will get the attention of Congress to do something. Or in my experience M18A1s also work very well...

Shut the border; that will get the attention of Congress to do something. Or in my experience M18A1s also work very well...

The nutters have arrived! Proposing this sort of violence is absolute insanity. Do you really think families living on the border will be happy when their 10 year old child steps on a landmine planted by the US government and is evaporated?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I expect the border to be closed next week. Better buy your avocados now.

I think he might do it to. Maybe he doesn't want to be president anymore.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yep. Apparently people were actually bringing up their 100% different stance which was clearly on their website so they finally decided heck, let’s just take it down to avoid confusion since people might actually believe us on our own website. So they removed it. The day after meeting with Trump.

Everything here is manufactured by people who lie through their teeth.

Apprehensions close to 100,000 people a day and hearing please from the very people that run the border and immigration CBP and ICE, calling it manufactured is an understatement. Again, even Jeh Johnson Obama loyalist former DHS considers this an emergency, he put down his political hack hat for a moment and woke up to reality.

Once again, I’ll go by the people that live it and work it and the heck with the liberal pundits that believe in using hypnosis to try and get everyone t think that they’re dumb. These Democrats are insulting.

How would these measures stop people overstaying their visas?

Depending on the severity of the violation, if they are repeat offenders, then they get locked up for a very long time as well as having to pay a hefty fine and then once they served their time, deported and if they do it again, repeat the process and extend the length of the sentence with each violation.

And FYI, under law, aliens applying for asylum are by definition not “illegal”.

They are illegal until they are legalized.

The only way to have a productive discussion about immigration is by recognizing the differences between manned border crossings, unfenced border, and ports of entry like airports. Also the differences between asylum seekers, illegal border crossers, visa violators, and MS13.

We had that, Democrats didn’t listen for over 30 years and here we are...

Trump and his people like to conflate

Liberals and their surrogate media lap dogs want to conflate that illegal aliens crossing into the border is perfectly acceptable. Now I get why the Dems want to abolish the EC, makes perfect sense now.

these things because it’s easier to reduce the discourse to a fight between “seal the border” patriots and “open border” leftist socialist Dems.

Well, the Dems do;t want tyou talk or do anything that remotely halts immigration and as long as they do that, Trump will get more and more support to shut the border down. Even Jeh Johnson.....wow!

100,000 people a day

Its 100k a month... And actually, if you read Johnson's full opinion on the border, the so called "crisis" is a Trump manufactured one by cutting funding for south/central America, proposing an "immigration czar", and shutting down the border. It's less about the immigrating people, and more about Trump's terrible leadership.

Which is No chump change.

And actually, if you read Johnson's full opinion on the border, the so called "crisis"

is a Trump manufactured

Sorry, but I saw the interview

"We are truly in a crisis," Johnson told MSNBC "Morning Joe" host Mika Brzezinski.

"On Tuesday there were 4,000 apprehensions. I know that 1,000 [apprehensions] overwhelms the system and I cannot begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like," he said.

CBP Chief Operating Officer John Sanders told attendees of the Border Security Expo this week a major reason for the recent surge in border apprehensions is due to large numbers of people illegally crossing together, rather than a handful at a time.

Ok, you can believe that, I don’t.

bass4funk: "Ok, you can believe that, I don’t."

Yes, well you have stated you that believe in alternative facts, so that's not saying much, my friend.

In any case, another example of Trump jumping the gun and getting a smackdown by even his own party. But you would be for him shutting down the border despite the economic costs?

What?

In any case, another example of Trump jumping the gun and getting a smackdown by even his own party.

He didn’t get a smack down ,he’s going to wait and see. Liberals were saying he wasn’t going to ever go through with a ban and he did, so without a doubt this guy is not playing given the circumstances, because as you guys say, he’s crazy and unpredictable.

But you would be for him shutting down the border despite the economic costs?

For this situation? 110%!
