Erdogan is a thug (witness his security details actions when he visited Trump) who is destroying Turkey, the Kurds are out best ally in the entire region. Turkey's desire is oppression of the Kurds. That has been Turkish policy for over a century, and it has only worsened under Erdogan as has freedom in general.

If the choice is based upon who has been most helpful to U.S. interests for the last several decades, the choice is easy, and it ain't Turkey.

The Syrian government has always maintained an internal understanding with Syrian Kurds. It is not in their interest to allow Turkey and the FSA to take away any more territory from Syria. For this reason I expect that they will allow the YPG to fight off the Turkish incursion, both in Afrin and Manbij. The YPG will be ready to fight, but if they have to pull out they will need to cross Syrian territory to get over for the defense of Manbij. In the meantime Turkey is playing a tricky hand. Ultimately Turkey say they want a buffer zone along the border between themselves and the Kurds., And the Syrian government probably want a Kurdish buffer between themselves and the Turks. The conflict must be between the ideal and the reality on the ground and the poor population caught in the middle.

Turkey is talking about a swift campaign and a quick solution, but they are already complaining about the weaponry they are coming up against.

Any Turkish air force flights over Syria should be shot down immediately, just as the Turks shot down the Russian fighter aircraft. Turkey should also be expelled from Nato.

Actually, the whole world is focusing not on Turkiye but on how the greatest super power Amerika will do.

Will Uncle Sam protect the loyal Kurdish YPG fighters against this Turkish onslaught?

Or abandon them like what Washington did to ally ROC-Taiwan and the Philippines when both were facing the PRC?

It seems the USA have a habit of double crossing ' allies' and even squat on their lands against their will just like in da-kine Okinawa which as a result of Amerikan occupation is now known as the Crimea of Asia.

The question now is will G. I. Joe act like a true ally to the sovereign Kurdish Nation and fight for them , or once again flee and totally abandon them?

The Kurdish YPG fighters must be asking themselves a question regarding their Amerikan ally.

With the full might of Turkiye's army now on their very doorsteps , they must be like my bad, will Trump turn into a Rambo and kick Erdogan's azz or instantly become escape artist Ran-bo?

The Crimea of Asia?

Now that's funny.

There's no question about Turkish President Erdogan is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity by crossing into another country and intend to slaughter or finish off Syrian Kurdish peoples. YPG fighters Kurdish peoples and they live in the villages. They are ordinary Kurdish peoples. The teachers, nurses, students and come from all levels of Kurdish society and they pick upa gun for defending themselves from slaughtered by ISIS Islamic Terrorist Death Cult. Turkish fighter jets bombing of Kurdish villages are illegal and war crimes. The Kurdish YPG fighters are defending themselves from ISIS. They are not hostile enemy of Turkey. The Turkish Government's full scale military operation against Turkish peoples and YPG is committing acts of war crimes and crimes against Humanity.

Where's the UN Secretary General and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights?

What are they doing?

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he had secured a go-ahead for the campaign from Russia, principal backer of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, long Turkey's foe.

So that confirms what a lot of people already theorize - that it has the tacit approval of Russia

Even though the Assad admin has announced they'd shoot down the Turkey planes that cross the border

Since I asked a question about this in an earlier news article, now we have the answer: Russia is going with Turkey here rather than Assad and even Iran

They can't - Afrin is controlled by Russian protection and apart from the parts of Syria with US forces presence

It's not a theory. It's in the news, just not on the corporate MSM because it is a huge failure for US MEast policy announced by Tillerson just last week.

Not that simple. Russia and Syria offered border protection to the Kurds. They declined and stayed with the US. This is when Turkish generals were invited to Russia for talks. Everyone wants the US out except for the Kurds. Turkey has the only military capable of securing the border since Syria and Russia are still battling US and Turkey proxy groups in Syria.

It's a mess.
