Republicans are finally working with Democrats to address this issue, finally. It only took republicans and Donny how many weeks to start taking this issue seriously?
Republicans are going full throat socialist here. Of course, some posters will claim that these government handouts aren’t socialist because they are temporary. Okay, but that means the temporary assistance that Dems want for the needy is also not socialism. (Dems don’t want cradle to grave entitlements no matter how many times conservatives scream they do.)

Given the Trump/GOP income redistribution efforts to date in which the richest get rewarded the most through getting the biggest tax breaks, among other government sponsored 'perks', I think this 'massive relief package' will just be more of the same. The primary beneficiaries will most likely once again be Trump's fellow 'elites'. The income gap under the so-called leadership of Trump/his fellow RINOs has widened. Why any CEO should make more than 1,000 more than his employees shows how screwed up things are. Why any CEO should be paid bonuses for cutting corporate expenses by laying off workers shows how screwed up things are. Why any CEO should be paid more because he cut costs by moving production to a country like China while eliminating jobs for Americans shows how screwed up things are. Why a president and his family continue to have their manufacturing for their businesses done in China and elsewhere outside the US shows how screwed up things are. Vote out the pols who are predatory capitalists using their positions to support other predatory capitalists.

BINGO!

According to the latest analysis, basic reproduction number for the US is 2 to 6. The numbers are significantly high and risky (2 or more suggests virus transition at exponential rate; below 1 means outbreak decline).
Temporal variation in transmission during the COVID-19 outbreak

Unless the crisis is handled properly and swiftly, the US could become a new epicentre, shifting from Europe.

There's a funny meme going around:
What does it take to turn a Republican into a socialist? About $1,000.
bass4funk
As if Democrats have a say in this. I would say the other way around more specifically, but it is a very good thing that they are coming together and hopefully the Dems can stop politicizing the issue for the time being and once this is all over they can get back to their usual political bickering.
Here we go again. Honestly, where do you guys get this garbage from? Lol
bass4funk
Especially in the bluest of States with the highest tax brackets, no wonder so many are leaving. It’s no surprise that the highest cases are in NY and California....not in the
least surprised.
Why not? They are the job providers. How much for you guys do you think a CEO should make? What is the idea of the income redistribution crowd?
Chip Star
Yes, Dems do have a say in this given they control the House. That said, it’s nice that repubs are finally taking this seriously instead of downplaying it and politicizing it, when they aren’t using their positions for insider trading. Smh.
Chip Star
Red states would have an income gap if there were any conservatives that were adept at business. Instead, the red states leech off the blue states. Conservatives sure love socialism. ROFL!
CEOs should not make 1,000 times more than the average employee at their companies. If you want to ask the income redistribution crowd, you’ll have to ask Donny.
CrazyJoe
Remember when Kudlow didn’t want any government funds used after the 2008 meltdown?
This won't pass until Trump and his crime family figure out the best way to skim a few billion off for themselves.
bass4funk
Yes and Trump can always, veto anything the House or Senate bring to his table as head of the Executive Branch.
But not like in the bluest and richest of where ironically the outbreaks are the highest and with all the wealth that these two States have, this shouldn’t be happening on the scale that it has been. But when you have large clusters of people and particularly homeless congregating in mass numbers, something bad will eventually happen. This is why so many people are leaving, Democrats take more, the party of heavy taxes, robbing Paul to give to Peter and the people namely the middle class have had it, this is what income redistribution does and the reason for the exodus out of these States.
Chip Star
Glad you admitted you were incorrect that Dems don’t have a say.
For the millionth time, people are leaving California and New York mainly because of property prices, which is your beloved free market at work.
Conservatives sure love income redistribution when it’s taking from the have nots and giving to the wealthy. Dear lord.
SuperLib
Oh I figured it was because of population density. Do you have something to backup your claim that the homeless are the reason why the infections are spreading in large cities or did you just make it up because you like the way it sounded?
It times like these it's better to have accurate information.
bass4funk
So where are the majority of the infections occurring in the States? Name the two main ones. It’s not hard to figure out why? It has absolutely nothing to do with liking the sound. If you want to talk about accurate information, the only people right now that have accurate information when it comes to “battling” this disease are the people working on finding a cure and away to slow the progression down.
Chip Star
It’s always nice when conservatives post nonsense, refuse to provide cites to support that nonsense, and then claim, “it just makes sense.” Smh.
bass4funk
Liberals don’t need to listen, they’re in the minority so it really doesn’t matter. The President is driving the agenda and the Democrats can work with this President on helping to save lives and work with his medical team or not, but it looks like at least some Democrat leaders are doing the right thing.
Chip Star
Donny is driving the agenda? God help us all given his utter incompetence. His medical team? Not the government’s?
How many weeks did it take for Donny to start doing the right thing? But, yeah, it’s the Dems.

Many reasons, primarily the US - all states - had been ill-prepared for this. Even though experts have long warned one like it could happen. Even though US intelligence agencies (I know - alt rightists trust the Kremlin, not their own government) gave early warnings about this one. But the main reason this thing has become a monster is the 'leader' of the US was more worried about his re-election and his, his family's and their fellow 'elites' stock prices. Plus health care for the general public has long been low priority. How's Trumpcare coming along?
Busby
And more purely partisan, fantasy-land conspiracy theories - now its the "homeless" that are causing the virus to spread.
Gee, maybe it's the President and his State TV network Fox News telling their mostly over 50 year-old viewers that its all a "hoax" and to "go to work".
Trump was briefed in Jan by both the Intel agencies and the CDC experts on the dangers of Corona - and worried about what it would do to his re-election chances, deliberately ignored it.
Americans are paying the price in the 401Ks and with their health...
He can claim no responsibility all he wants - everyone knows this is all on him.
bass4funk
Amazing how States like California and NY have some of the richest people In the country and then have some of the highest poverty and homelessness in these States. Cuomo and Newsom praise the President even though a lot of their policies put a lot of lives in danger.
They were warned and told about the growing possibility of these squalor areas becoming breeding grounds for a possible outbreak and that has now finally come to pass.
Jake Barnes
Chip Star there may be money for Americans, but that could pale in comparison to the massive socialist bailout being worked out on behalf of corporations:

Hmm, didn't I see this poster urging us to "come together" the other day? Another flip-flop...
Well, let's look at the US states with the highest poverty rates;
Arkansas - Repub Governor
West Virginia - Repub Governor
Mississippi - Repub Governor
Talk about putting people's lives in danger...its these Repub Governors and their incompetent Repub President...
Vote them all out in Nov...

Readers, once again, we ask that you put aside your political differences in discussing this crisis. If you are unable to do so, then please don't post here. There will be no bickering or acrimony permitted.
bass4funk
Anyway, this massive package relief is a great thing, sadly as this disease progresses, I’m not sure it’s enough to handle the growing needy in the hardest hitting States like CA and NY, but it’s a start and I believe this won’t be the last financial package that will be administered. We will beat this thing.
Chip Star
Too right.
Agreed.
Absolutely.
PTownsend
Because the US has been so slow to address the virus and is still ill-prepared for dealing with it, the problems will be felt in every state. The states with the largest number of people living below the poverty level will probably get hit hardest.

Bezos is helping a lot also:
In the letter, Bezos notes that the company is hiring 100,000 workers and says Amazon is taking steps to protect essential personnel that can't work remotely.
He encourages those who have been laid off as a result of the pandemic to consider working for Amazon.

Back on topic please.

...or the States with highest of amount of poverty in the city areas like CA and NY that have some of the largest population of homeless where the financial disparity gaps are visually and socially evident. As long as the administration can offer and prioritize every possible medical and financial resources to help these two states that is a fighting plus.
