It would make for thrilling Tom Clancy spy novel.
CrazyJoe
This sounds like part of the effort to start a war with Iran which the right wingers like Bolton have been longing for.
Joel Tucci
Again the Saudis buying of Jared Kushner has paid off in spades.
bass4funk
Yeah, Bolton wakes up every morning and hoping we can fight, die and loves the smell of Napalm. It’s his life enduring dream to make war. Less emotion....Come on...lol
kurisupisu
The US has inflicted more death and destruction on the world than Iran ever has!
Yet, Iran is a ‘terrorist state’?
Don’t Americans learn history?
yamada1043
It’s all about the Jewish State of Israel ... at the detriment and expense of the rest of us.
SimondB
Not often I would agree with you but I think you are spot on with Bolton's mindset.
And Netanyahu has never seen a war he didn't want America to fight.
bass4funk
Yeah, sure. Lol
Wallace Fred
This is unprecedented in all known history. The blatant use of sanctions to further the whims of israel is the catalyst for the inevitable demise of merica which is going to happen the moment the saudis kick the dollar which they're planning on doing. Enough is truly enough.
Bintaro
Iran is getting more reasons to develop nuclear weapons. The US will then be "forced" to intervene because "good guys"...
The drums of war are beating.
lincolnman
I'm confused - maybe the Trumpers here can help me understand - during the campaign Trump said this;
One of the main organizers amd supporter of the Iraq war was John Bolton, Trump's National Security Adviser - who is now pushing Trump to do to Iran what Bush did to Iraq...
So why is Trump repeating that he called "the single worst decision ever made"?
PTownsend
Good question. Maybe Trump's making an opening bargain position ala 'Mexico's going to pay for my wall? Maybe he's waiting for someone to 'contribute' more to his legal defense funds? Maybe he's waiting to see who's going to offer Jared more for the rights to the Trump brand name? Maybe he's waiting for Hannity etal to tell him what to do? Maybe he's too busy playing golf? Maybe he's waiting for a report - less than 140 characters - he can understand?
Trump moves in mysterious ways, but usually if the money is followed, that will tell what he's going to do.
bass4funk
No one said we are going to go to war with Iran now, but given the horrendous Iranian deal that Obama created, it brought more uncertainty to the region, gave great concern to Israel and SA and it emboldened the Iranians and the mullahs and just because Trump got rid of that disastrous deal, the Iranians feel they are in the position to threaten us? So yes, Bolton is now watching and planning in the event Iran gets an embarrassing thought in their heads and decide to take on the US.
He’s not, but he and Bolton, Pompeo should take preliminary precautions.
commanteer
What? Were you hiding under the lampshade when they made this deal? Silly conspiracy stuff.
The truth is that the US loves war, hates regional powers that aren't 100% subservient to the US, and needs a constant stream of enemies. The Iranian govt are thugs and criminals, like many govts around the world. The people are good, though, and potential allies. Unfortunately, the US has a habit of going to war with potential allies if they don't come to heel quickly enough.
Eisenhower was right about the war machine. Too bad nobody listened.
Chip Star
Yes, everyone would be better off if Iran had been able to continue its march to get nuclear weapons because there would then be less uncertainty.
Sound "logic" there.
Toasted Heretic
The Great Satan, beating the drums of war, again.
lincolnman
Oh, you mean the Iran deal that kept the Iranians in check and under a microscope so they wouldn't pursue a nucelar weapon - the one Trump unilaterally pulled out of so he could follow Neocon Bolton's advice and start a war with Iran?
https://www.rand.org/blog/2017/10/why-the-iran-nuclear-deal-benefits-the-us.html
He's following the strongest Neocon advocate of the Iraq war and making the same plans as Bush did - he's repeating in his words "the single worst decision ever made."
Why?
bass4funk
Them if the Iranians don’t want the Great Satan to breath fire and fury on them the mullahs need to think very rationally about their future moves if they want their country to live and prosper or not.
No, not the liberal excuse, but the real reason
https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/06/iran-nuclear-deal-disaster-from-the-start/
To swing the deal, the Obama administration sent advisers around the banking world to facilitate Iranian efforts to convert their released embargoed funds into Great Satan currency — a warping of the American financial system that was ostensibly illegal at the time. In other words, the Obama administration for some strange reason more or less went beyond the requirements of the Iran deal and used the U.S. government to help undermine its own restrictions on facilitating Iranian commerce and banking — while keeping the entire sordid mess quiet as they hectored skeptics of the deal as naïve or conspiratorial. Such habitual Obama-administration deception and conniving may explain why former secretary of state John Kerry this May so publicly and nonchalantly met Iranian representatives overseas, apparently seeing nothing wrong in the attempt to undermine the very policies of his own president. Old habits die hard.
So yes, Bolton should put them on notice, we don’t want a war, but we will go to war if you go down that road.
Deadforgood
He is.
If they do, its going to be worse than Vietnam. Wait, Trump skipped that one, no experience, how is he supposed to command the US military in battle?
Toasted Heretic
And the same should apply to the Great Satan, in that case.
Toasted Heretic
Will you be signing up for the war effort?
Or will you be shedding crocodile tears as the bodybags come home?
Deadforgood
Obviously, Trump has absolutely no regard for the American people. If war with Iran happens, how many Americans will die so Trump can be elected again with the help of AIPAC? Trump works more for Israel on a daily basis than he does America.
Elmer Fudd
You really have to feel sorry for the US administration. They backed the wrong horse way back when they decided the Saudis would be regional leaders....
They then have two wars in Iraq and eventually overthrow Saddam, only to have him replaced by.... a political group started by Ayatollah Khomeini while under exile in Iraq.
Obama and Clinton instigated the Syrian “war” to weaken Iran and her Hezbollah allies in Lebanon... This backfired miserably. The US and Saudi funded jihadists were defeated with support from Russia.
so we are now where we are.... the US has funded the same groups responsible for 9/11, lost thousands of troops, killed hundreds of thousands of innocents, wasted billions of dollars all to give Iran more control in Syria, Lebanon and especially Iraq.
This is why Trump pulled out of the nuclear agreement (that the Iranians were sticking to) even the CIA said so! This is why more and more ridiculous sanctions are being place on Iran.
The US needs to look a little closer in the region to find the real problem nations... and end their blanket support for Israel and the Saudis.
Deadforgood
And give up all that oil and business for Trump hotels/resorts??? Are you mad?
lincolnman
Rand is a DoD-sponsored think tank - Liberal? Are you kidding?
What a bunch of wild conspiracy theory bunk, likely from Moscow. Are you sure the Martians aren't involved?
Bolton is a card-carrying Neocon who wants to goad Iran into a war just like Iraq - and Trump is following him like a good boy. Why would he even listen to this guy if he thought Iraq was the "single worst decision ever made?
You have savaged the Neocons in the past - why the change in tune, or should I say flip-flop?
Deadforgood
Its not flip-flopping, but rather complying with any decision Trump makeks. His opinions go whichever way Trump's toupee is blown.
plasticmonkey
How?
Deadforgood
Obama didn't create the "Iranian Nuclear Deal"...the UN did. I don't understand why you blame the world on Obama constantly.
CrazyJoe
Is it just me, or does this have the stink of Benjamin Netanyahu all over it?
bass4funk
Yeah, the Iranians know if they even think about attacking the US, they are taking on Israel and the Saudis. Again, I hope the mullahs make the right decision because Israel has zero problem wiping the country off the map, if Iran as large as it is were that much of a threat, Israel would have been wiped out a long time ago.
Liberals are always non-stop talking the Russian theme so....
As he should, as every President followed their NSA and the fact that liberals hate this man with a passion makes me love him more. So I trust Bolton and I do hope that Iran does the right thing and if they don’t, he should follow what Bolton says, but we don’t have to go to war right away, as with most predictions you were off, but I will say this, Israel can take care of Iran for the most part, so if Iran wants to pick a fight with them, then we know the mullahs are suicidal.
I have savaged Neocons in the past, but I’m not dumb and I see exactly where the Iranians want to go with this, so if they make a move towards posturing for a war, the US, Israel and the Saudis will do whatever it takes to neutralize that threat.
Toasted Heretic
Oh, so Israel and Saudi Arabia are going to do your dirty work for you? Bit of a change from your earlier stance.
Oh, so Iran isn't a threat after all?
Toasted Heretic
Astute political analysis. And right wing America wonders why its mocked and derided so much...
I don't hate Trump, I just look forward to his downfall and the re-emergence of common sense and an end to the lies, warmongering and racism that characterises this catastrophic presidency.
Sadly, the repercussions of it will last for generations. The elite administration hopefully, will be made pay for their brutalities on the world stage.
Realization
All Arms makers including USA has only one target, how to sell Arms.
That's it. Nothing else.
If no war then no business.
So, sometime democrat make the plots of wars , republican study and execute.
And sometime republican make the plots of wars , democrat study and execute.
War, genocide, death toll of innocent people.
What's new?
Chip Star
It's always the armchair generals frothing at the mouth for war.
commanteer
Exactly. Many of the people here wringing their hands about war with Iran will turn around talk about how we need to punish those evil Russians who are apparently controlling everyone's minds. When called on it, they make the same excuse we see here, "who's talking about war?"
As though actions don't have repercussions.
Which is why the US war machine works so well. It's always supported by whoever voted for the current president.
bass4funk
No, they’re going to make sure to neutralize any threat Iran will try to dish out. As long as the mullahs don’t make a stupid move, no war, no worry, but if they get stupid....
Meaning, Israel if their country is threatened and faced with the decision that there is no other choice, they’ll use their nukes with the added bonus of the Saudis.
Directly for the region, it is. For us, more indirectly, but still a threat.
lincolnman
This is what you get when you elect a failed reality TV star as President - he and his supporters talking about the deaths of millions of people, as if it were nothing. God help us.
Conservatives too - and Don Jr and Eric talk about it alot also - as in "that's where we get all our money"...
Thank you - Trumper hypocrisy on full display - when Trump was criticizing "real genius" Bush II for starting the Iraq War, and saying the Neocon's made the "single worst decision ever made", Trumpers were ranting that the Neocons were a danger to our country. Then the flip-flop - Trump hires Neocon #1 Bolton, starts down the same path Bush did, and all's just fine.
And millions of people will die, just like in Iraq, that Trump said was the "single worst decision ever".
But I have to disagree with the latter - the single worst decision ever was Repubs allowing a serial liar, pervert, and con-man to get elected President.
bass4funk
As if we or he cares. If I wanted someone popular, I would have voted for Jeb.
Excuse me?
What racism? He loves Israel, the ban doesn’t cover the largest Muslim country (Indonesia) in the world, had a black woman (Omarosa) reside in the WH....Yeah, that claim is just not working anymore. ROFL!
8 years of Afghanistan, will justice ever come for the warmongers? Only time will tell...
Chip Star
You're happy to have another war in the Middle East.
Warmongers neber go away until their arses are in the front lines.
You're giddy because a nuclear war may occur. Foul.
Iraq and Syria completely disagree with you. Since those countries are in the region, they know more than you. (I got this "logic" from you constantly mouthing off about how peopke in the border region of the US know the most about illegal border crossings.)
Chip Star
Only for low-information individuals in complete denial is Trump not racist.
The Afghan war has been going on for 18 years and was started by one of your guys. It's hilarious to witness you attempting to revise history and bend time to put the blame for republican repugnance and incompetence on Obama.
pointofview
The Dems want war the most.
Chip Star
The evidence for this is found st the following link:
Goodlucktoyou
If Iran declears us military as a terriorist organization, which technically it is if you listen to people like @zichi, Iran has the right to kill any us soldier on sight and execute any captured us military personnel. This proves that trump cares more about backing Israeli politicians than the lives of American
s who fight for America.
Serrano
concerns about retaliatory attacks on U.S. forces
Have U.S. forces attacked Iran? Any attacks on U.S. forces would be unwise in the extreme.
This is more 4D chess by Trump. Pile on the pressure to stop the Iranians from developing nukes. They are closer than ever. Trump is not dropping bombs on Iran, something his major opponent in the 2016 election and certain politicians in both major parties would likely do if they were in charge.
Serrano
If what Pompeo is saying here is true, Trump is right to do this:
US labels Iran's Revolutionary Guard a terrorist group
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWnp74MiynI
Chip Star
Thanks, Trump.
I thought the Dems were soft on Iran. Which is it, Sorrena?
bass4funk
No, but asking the Iranians politely to stop won’t probably work either.
And cowards allow our allies to be annexed.
No, but I believe in supporting our ally and the only true democracy in the ME.
Not more than Israel or the Saudis, so I say, Israel and given its history in the region should do whatever it takes to safeguard its citizens and to see their once foe now come together and to allow them to use their airspace and bases to launch air assaults is something I would have never imagined a few years ago.
bass4funk
Saying he’s a racist is like saying Bernie Sander is a capitalist of the highest order.
And then the last President removed the troops from Iraq and said, we are fighting the wrong war, the real war and enemy are in Afghanistan, so Justice never came for the warmongers of one of the largest wars we’ve ever fought in.
I don’t need to revise history, I have a TV, access to books and papers and I know who was President 8 years ago, pretty simple actually.
Chip Star
Except completely different because Trump is a racist.
So getting out of Iraq was bad but bieng in Afghanistan is also bad? I get it, when you said it's good, it's good.
Okay. Why do you try to revise history and bend time to blame Obama for republican incompetence and repugnance?
lincolnman
Pardon me while I bust a gut for a good 30 minutes...Trump and 4D chess - that's the funniest thing I've heard all week.
Trump doesn't even know the difference between origins and oranges...
https://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/donald-trump-concerned-about-oranges-of-mueller-investigation-1470370371536
You mean pull out of the Nuc Treaty that capped their production and research, pile on more sanctions, try to goad them into a incident so we can start the Neocons newest dream war in the Middle East? You know, just like the last war which he said was "the single worst mistake we ever made."
Toasted Heretic
That's the trouble. Making excuses for the hawks who are pushing for conflict.
Are you signing up for duty?
SuperLib
Bibi must think of Trump as the biggest pushover he's ever met.
bass4funk
All the more reason for Iran to be beyond nuts to try something so stupid.
Ok and? He wasn’t the first...
If Israel thought so, they would have been silent on the Obama/Iranian deal.
I agree, no arguments here, but we need them for a multitude of reasons, bu believe me, I’m not a fan of the Saudis.....at all.
bass4funk
So Bernie is a Capitalist then? Why is he promoting socialism? Interesting....
The previous president didn’t even know the difference between Marine Corps and corpse. Smh.....
But Obama said, our forces need to go there because that’s where the real fight is, warmonger!
I don’t, I leave that for Democrats to do and they do a crappy job of it.
SuperLib
Lots of Obama talk from Trump fans mean they can't support Trump on the issue.
bass4funk
So what are the excuses of the cowards that refuse to help our allies....Crimea wasn’t THAT long ago, y’all forgot already....
I did my time already.
beentofivecontinents
All Arms makers including USA has only one target, how to sell Arms.
There will be a bad place for those in Hell who start wars for profit.
