McConnell is supposed to represent the people of Kentucky, which is one of the poorest states in the country. Instead in typical Republican fashion he represents Wall Street and the nation's 1%. While keeping his connections to Chinese and Russian oligarchs intact.

McConnell had been a willing lackey for Trump. It will be interesting to watch which directions McConnell spins while Trump divides the Republican Party. And further divides the country.

23 ( +29 / -6 )

Now he is insulting his own party members. Sure took him long enough.

9 ( +16 / -7 )

And let's not forget the current investigation into his wife's alleged personal financial gain from her cabinet position as Secretary of Transportation. By sheer coincidence, her family owns one of the largest shipping companies (that's kinda like transportation, right?) of freight from China to the US.

Somehow, McConnell's net wealth has increased by $30,000,000 on his annual salary of $192,000.

Trickle down money quickly disappears into foreign tax shelters, savings accounts, and driving up stock prices with no underlying economic activity to justify their market valuations.

Put the money in people’s hands. It’ll soon be used for food and rent.

22 ( +22 / -0 )

Trump was just trying to boost his failing Presidency, they overroad his veto on Defense

0 ( +7 / -7 )

Trump is correct about his own party. It is weak and tired.

Time for Georgia MAGA heads to vote for Warnock and Ossoff. Perdue and Loeffler are deep state elitists who need to be purged from the farm.

11 ( +16 / -5 )

Finally Trump made great victory for the people of USA.. Thank you Trump!!!

Read the news " Stimulus checks would rise to $2,000 under new House vote ...""

Search it

Even fake media reported that House approved $ 2000 bill.

Who asked to increase it?

ONLY ONE MAN TRUMP

Aren't we going to get $2000 from Trump's hard work or $ 600 from Nancy's team???

Even in that bill They are paying $500 million to Jordan to make border wall with Syria. But Nancy and demos opposed a border wall for USA.. What a joke?????

-20 ( +11 / -31 )

"Republican leadership only wants the path of least resistance. Our leaders (not me, of course!) are pathetic. They only know how to lose!" he wrote without mentioning any party leader by name.

If the reports are true that Trump is going to launch his own TV channel, I would suggest it be focused on comedy. This guy is comedy gold

"Republican leadership only wants the path of least resistance. Our leaders (not me, of course!) are pathetic.

Neoliberals are like this everywhere, like in 2008 it is easier for them to shovel money into banks and corporate welfare.

But where is President-elect Biden on this?

His economic advisor, Lawrence Summers, architect of financial deregulation and bank bailouts over saving home owners from foreclosure in 2008, has come out this time, surprise surprise, against direct stimulus payments.

It's Republicans who baulk at $2000 - too socialist for their liking. Trump has discovered a new love for redistributive policies in his final dies. Of course, the money is all borrowed and will need to be repaid by tax payers in the future.

What would Trump care about the future? Or tax - he doesn't pay tax.

8 ( +15 / -7 )

I get the spending, don’t like it one bit, but the GOP need to worry about earmarks and the budget once the economy is stable (whenever that is) but at this point and time, just prioritize and help the people and stop putting politics ahead of principle, it’s not like it’s not screwed up already, so just help the people first and later worry about the spending and earmarks, grow a spine and stop being weak for once.

-9 ( +8 / -17 )

Wow ! I can’t believe it but Trump is right on the money.

I’ve been a taxpayer since I was 14 yrs old. Also, if you want include the time I was a 8year old newspaper boy home delivering newspapers, especially the truly heavy Sunday Papers which I had to assemble in my home ) I joined the military to defend the country and the world. The one time I need financial assistance from the government they fail their own tax payers.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Trump is like a chicken running around without its head. It’s pathetic. Thank you for all the uneducated Americans who know nothing of geopolitics or the economy for voting against your own self interests and putting this nut job in power. Bravo!

4 ( +12 / -8 )

His supporters will suddenly embrace socialism because Trump did,

This is just utter garbage, when we talk about socialism we are talking about it in terms of completely replacing the capitalist model that has always been the system in this nation and as long as that doesn’t happen from cradle to grave we are not a socialist nation even if the people gave out government aid, which is essentially OUR to begin with. It’s not about Trump, it’s about Congress doing something which frankly didn’t have to happen, but since these Democrat leaders put millions in an impossible situation, they have to help these people and the GOP have to this time just go with it.

-16 ( +6 / -22 )

I hope in the future ALL voters wether democrat or republican make sure this idiots especially McConnell get term limits. If you have been a senator for 3 decades and haven’t done nothing but bicker it’s time to get rid of the fat and get out of office.

15 ( +15 / -0 )

Trump has been the GOP led senate's lapdog and sometimes it's been the other way around. Now Trump is trying to sound like the champion for the common man? Gimme a break! If Trump had tried to pass a 2 trillion dollar tax cut for the richest 1%, even now, this senate led by Sen. McConnell would've been salivating at the mouth.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

This is just utter garbage, when we talk about socialism we are talking about it in terms of completely replacing the capitalist model

It's good you know what socialism actually is, I just can't understand why conservatives want to label Democrats as Socialists, when that couldn't be further from the truth.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

McConnell, the top Republican in the Senate, on Tuesday blocked immediate consideration of a measure to increase COVID-19 relief payments, suggesting instead that the Senate would begin to examine the issue along with two others Trump has raised - the integrity of elections and limits on big technology companies.

If there is any population that need some human-centered, democratic socialism in the form of a basic income it is the people of Kentucky (or maybe West Virginia).

Instead the ghoul McConnell will serve them up the usual recipes of God and guns.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

I hope in the future ALL voters wether democrat or republican make sure this idiots especially McConnell get term limits. If you have been a senator for 3 decades and haven’t done nothing but bicker it’s time to get rid of the fat and get out of office

We have 2 of them in Cali, Nancy Pelosi and Diane Feinstein who have done nothing but drive California into the ground. People are moving out of California in droves to Nevada, Arizona, Texas and etc. Yet those uneducated people are taking their Democrat vote with them and turning those States Blue as they did with Oregon and Washington in the past.

-12 ( +4 / -16 )

Look out yanks, that’s socialism right there that they’re arguing about. Which socialism is better, the $600 socialism, or the $1200 socialism?

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Oh my. What a turn up. Maybe they’ll make a movie of this someday.

trump protested so much about Pelosi, he was really just hiding his admiration for her. What a team! I guess that means he secretly has the hots for Bette Midler too.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

Even fake media reported that House approved $ 2000 bill.

Yeah: "The Democratic-led House of Representatives approved the increase in direct payments to $2,000 on Monday. The House also overrode Trump's veto on the defense bill."

Who asked to increase it?

Nacy Pelosi and the democrats, right from the start. This is not a victory for Trump, but for the democrats (and for all american people, who would really benefit from 2000$).

The problem is of course that even if the House approved the bill, McConnell is now blocking the vote. Which is the whole point of this article.

McConnell is really one of the absolute worst politicians in American history. Trump is simply a dangerous idiot and a buffoon, but McConnell is pure capitalist evil.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

This shows again what kind of a party GOP is... He just crippled his own party!

It's good you know what socialism actually is, I just can't understand why conservatives want to label Democrats as Socialists,

When that just couldn't be further from the truth. In need of a governmental package for “short term” is far different from an implement it and standardized, socialized system that is a blanket across the country and shoveling out entitlements from cradle to grave and for every person, that’s not what we’re talking about and that’s not something that Republicans support now or in the future.

-19 ( +1 / -20 )

This kind of spending is a necessary evil.

It's targeted for people making less than $75,000 a year, so it's not like they are going to use the money to pad their stock portfolio or grow their 401K. The money they get will be handed over to local businesses like their landlord, the grocery store, the auto mechanic, etc. They real recipients of the aid will be the businesses while the average person gets a little more time and little more breathing room.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

that’s not something that Republicans support now or in the future.

Looks like Republican times are a’ changin.

Maybe trump will become a Democrat again for his 2024 run. He’s quite fond of sudden reversals. Will you still support him?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Trump calls Republican leaders 'weak' and 'tired'

Well, he did warn us that we'd get "tired of winning"

Not to worry though, Biden's "socialism" is coming over the hill to the rescue of the desperate 14+ million Americans whose daily needs have been ignored by the uncaring, "comfortably numb" Retrumplicans. Lol!

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Hey, you know what? This is not coming out of McConnell's or any of the Republican Congresscritter's pocket. This is the money of the people.

Japan was supposed to sink into the ocean from all of the debt. I've been hearing that for 30 years. I heard the US was going to sink and a cup of coffee was going to cost $50, oil would be $20/gallon and blah, blah, blah.

Hasn't happened and won't happen.

The old ideas of fiscal policy and economic laws are crap. They were wrong and continue to be wrong. The economy simply does not operate as the economist theorists theorize.

And these disgraceful thugs like Rand Paul with their ridiculous ideas that Americans don't deserve the money are evil.

We can spend trillions of dollars on endless wars, but Americans don't deserve $600 for "free."

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Calling someone’s post utter garbage is impolite and vulgar.

I never did and wouldn’t attack anyone personally, but my and other conservative posters and our posts are always attacked does that apply as well?

Few people in US politics endorse cradle to grave

Yes, But that’s not stopping the Dems from pushing to implement it.

-17 ( +0 / -17 )

And the big unanswered question - if Trump was for the $2/4K amount, why didn't he say that back in May when the Dems passed the CARES Act with that amount? Why didn't he tell Mnuchin who he sent to negotiate the bill for six months? Why did he concur with the $600 all during the the election period, and only change after he lost the election and after McConnell acknowledged Biden's won?

Hmmmm......

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Republicans constantly support cradle to grave entitlements

They don’t and if they did they would support Newsom, Cuomo, DeBlasio and Whitmer, they would support heavy taxation, regulations, taking away tax incentives for small businesses and support lockdowns and raising the corporate tax code. If they did, the economy wouldn’t have been on steroids as it was until the virus was unleashed.

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

When that just couldn't be further from the truth. In need of a governmental package for “short term” is far different from an implement it and standardized, socialized system that is a blanket across the country and shoveling out entitlements from cradle to grave and for every person, that’s not what we’re talking about and that’s not something that Republicans support now or in the future.

Sure it's true, no Democratic leader is calling upon the Government to seize the means of production. Yet time and time again, Republicans paint things like stimulus checks or medicare for all as Socialists, as I'd enacting these policies would somehow make us a Socialist state like Venezuela, and that couldn't be further from the truth.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Trump turns on everyone eventually once they are no longer useful to him. This should be blindinhly obvious for all. It's only a matter of time. Senate R's are just the next ones in line.

What a nightmare for Repubs...

They made their pact with the Devil in 2016, rejecting all the values that were core to the party; fiscal discipline, free trade, strong alliances, family values... They're now a party based only on hate and perceived grievance...

And the Devil they made their pact with, who has the emotional capacity of a two-year old, has turned on them....and is now invoking his revenge, forcing them to even further humiliate themselves.

The big question now is, where does the party go moving forward - stay with Trump, move on to far-right nuts like Ted Cruz, or maybe back to the party it once was with moderates like Nikki Haley...

I have to say, I haven't the faintest idea...

7 ( +7 / -0 )

*when we talk about socialism we are talking about it in terms of completely replacing the capitalist model that has always been the system in this nation and as long as that doesn’t happen from cradle to grave we are not a socialist nation even if the people gave out government aid, which is essentially OUR to begin with. **

According to Gallup, younger Americans are embracing socialism as a better system than capitalism in higher numbers than before. Decades of shrinking social mobility, wealth being concentrated at the top, voodoo economics etc look like it might be facing a serious backlash.

Remember you used to argue that a ballooning debt will handicap this generation further before Trump went berserk with the credit card? You can go back to this argument in about 3 weeks, but this generation is justifiably annoyed.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

and shoveling out entitlements from cradle to grave and for every person

If you are so opposed to "cradle to grave" entitlements, then you must support a very high estate and inheritance tax. Because there is no worse entitlement on this earth than inheriting millions that you never actually earned. Donald Trump himself was apparently a millionaire at age 8 thanks to his father's trust fund. Money he of course never worked for. It's the epitome of entitlement.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

As peeved as Trump is with his party for not supporting his baseless fraud claims, I'm waiting for him to make a video with Nancy, Bernie, AOC, and Omar - with all five on the screen imploring Miserly Mitch and his band of parsimonious Pubs to stand up for the American people and vote for the $2K bill....

"I'm Donald Trump and I stand with Nancy, Bernie, and The Squad..."

What would Trump supporters do then...

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The Dems had wanted the amount to be much more than $600 months ago but the Republicans rejected that idea. Now Trump is trying to get credit for saying it should be $2,000? What a joke he and the GOP is.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Loeffler was forced to take a position on the $2,000 checks when asked Tuesday during an interview with “Fox & Friends” whether she supported the higher payments. “I’ve stood by the president 100% of the time,” Loeffler said. “I’m proud to do that and I’ve said absolutely, we need to get relief to Americans now and I will support that.”

Later Tuesday, Perdue tweeted that Trump is “right.” “I support this push for $2,000 in direct relief for the American people,” he wrote.

This is what humiliation looks like. For months Perdie and Loeffler criticized these stimulus payments, and only recently gave their support to the $600 bill. All the while ranting and railing against their "radical socialist" Dem opponents...

So what does Trump do? Forces them to accept the same amount as their radical socialist opponents have been saying all along...

Oh the humiliation....

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Trump and the Republicans and their supporters have succeeded in making terms like "radical socialist" and "Marxist" devoid of meaning. They have the same weight as when religious fundamentalists shout "blasphemy".

Democratic socialism like Einstein supported and is practiced in several Scandinavian countries encompasses practical proposals such as:

Making sure any business entities receiving corporate welfare pay their fair share of taxes and do not hide their assets by incorporating in foreign tax havens.

Taking into account corporate profits earned from publicly funded property ( Amazon's disproportionate use of publicly funded infrastructure and tech companies use of university publicly funded research in patents) to fund a social safety net.

Reducing the primacy of financialization and the corporate shareholder value model in society.

Hopefully we can move past political and social polarization to adopt proposals guaranteed to create a more just society such as these.

Under Trump Presidency the average salary increased . The unemployment is in all time low in the US history. Companies are paying 1000 to 2000 minimum BONUS this year end.

Because of Trump we have enough money in the treasury to pay out $ 2000 each.

I remember well that in the past you called Trump “socialism lite”. Before he got the nomination and you jumped on the bandwagon.

Do you still think that Trump is a bit of a socialist?

The unemployment is in all time low in the US history.

Lol no, unemployment isn't at record lows.

Companies are paying 1000 to 2000 minimum BONUS this year end.

Maybe some, but they're the exception to the rule. The majority of Americans are struggling.

Because of Trump we have enough money in the treasury to pay out $ 2000 each.

1) No, we have less, not more money in the treasury.

2) If the economy is so good, we wouldn't need the stimulus.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

@Reckless

Despite the name, Trump really is an independent.

I hope trump runs as an independent in 2024! It will most definitely guarantee a Democrat victory!

Apparenty not.

Companies are paying 1000 to 2000 minimum BONUS this year end.

Oh yeah, this year has been a complete boon for the economy, for sure! Especially all the restaurants, the entertainement industry, all the bars and clubs... They're paying thousands of dollars of bonuses!

...Oh no wait, they're all closing down because Trump completely bungled the Covid crisis.

And the farming industry was on the brink of an unprecedented crisis because of Trump's stupid trade war with China, and has only been saved by government subsidies (= socialism).

Because of Trump we have enough money in the treasury to pay out $ 2000 each.

Trump added about $3.9 trillion to american deficits. So, no.

This is the socialism what Trump made.

We both agree that this is mostly trump's fault! LOL!!!

By sheer coincidence, her family owns one of the largest shipping companies (that's kinda like transportation, right?) of freight from China to the US.

Their company doesn't haul freight to the US. Their ships are dry bulk carriers and their business is hauling bauxite and iron ore from Australia and Brazil to China. But, yes, Elaine Chao'a dad makes a small fortune feeding Chinese industry and buys all their ships from the big state owned shipyards using loans from the Bank of China. And obtw, Elaine Chao's sister sits on the Boards of Directors of the same state owned shipyard and of the Bank of China. Their father has given millions of dollars to Mitch McConnell's political causes and his wife, who is a former high school classmate and personal friend of Jiang Jimen, travels to China to christen ships for the family company at a yard in her old hometown, Shanghai.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

Let's not forget California with one of the highest rate of homelessness in the USA and highest among U.S. veterans because of Pelosi.

Nancy Pelosi isn't a state legislator. She is a member of Congress and has been for a very long time. The US Congress doesn't write California laws or determine their economic policies. The US Congress certainly doesn't determine property values in California, which is the crux of the problem you mention. The techies who make California's economy so strong make so much money they are pricing lower wage Californian's out of the housing market. That is not such an easy problem to overcome. Some will say build more homes but as fast as you can build them their price skyrockets due to demand. Most new homes are not aimed at low wage workers but at the very well paid tech sector that drives the California economy. Builders, you know private industry, strongly resists calls to build homes for low wage workers because those are less profitable than half a million dollar to million dollar tract homes aimed at higher paid workers.
