Great News!

Best news of the day. And wishing the 4 Thai SEALs and ALL the rescue divers come out safely as well.

Respect to the Thai diver who gave his life that others may live.

Very happy about this!!!

News the whole world has waited on tenterhooks for. A wonderful example of international cooperation to pull off a cutting-edge rescue mission. To the courageous divers and boys, Chapeau! And thoughts and prayers for the family of the Thai diver who, sadly, died a hero.

Excellent work. Best possible outcome for the kids.

Well done. The thought of being trapped for days in confined spaces sounds pretty terrifying to me.

Thoughts for the diver that perished.

Wonderful news- but when the buzz dies down, boy, is that coach in trouble.

Wonderful news- but when the buzz dies down, boy, is that coach in trouble.

It's Thailand, not USA, the parents already forgave him

The situation was they had entered before it rained and were then trapped seeking safety.

Great stuff.

Hope these lads are in good enough shape to get to Russia for the World Cup final.

Great stuff.

Hope these lads are in good enough shape to get to Russia for the World Cup final.

BBC reporting that they'll all be in hospital for a week or so thus they'll miss it.

Unbelievable! Everyone said the rescue was not possible. There were Buddhist priests praying a vigil at cave entry non-stop for a week. The prayer has realized the miracle!!

The Thai seals are heroes, and the boys will become celebrity in the World. I hope they come on a Japan tour when they are well, to meet the Samurai Blue, and maybe play some friendly matches against junior Japan national team.

Such a wonderful news. Congrats to all involved, best thoughts to the hero diver.

I think we are all starved for good news like this; a wonderful example of people using their incredible capacity for humanitarian purposes. At the same time we remember, with sadness, the sacrifice of the Thai Navy Seal.

People underestimated that the boys definitely could do it sooner than later!

Crazy: "I think we are all starved for good news like this; a wonderful example of people using their incredible capacity for humanitarian purposes. At the same time we remember, with sadness, the sacrifice of the Thai Navy Seal."

For once, totally agree with Crazy.

Hakman: "Plenty of reason to celebrate!

But let's remember to keep the Thai diver who died in our thoughts & prayers.

And for the love of God, don't ever let anyone go into that cave ever again.'

Totally agree.

Jimizo: Hope these lads are in good enough shape to get to Russia for the World Cup final.

sf2k: "BBC reporting that they'll all be in hospital for a week or so thus they'll miss it."

No problem, lol.

Some perspective: Dozens of divers and support crew, also supplying medical aid, refilled tanks, placing tanks all along the way for each set of rescues and then replacing each of those tanks for the next set, over three days. (RIP Saman Gunan who was placing tanks). Swimming in for 5 hours, then against the current on exit for 6 hours. This may have been reduced with a reduction in water levels from pumping. Two divers for each kid to bring them out. Mild sedatives used to keep everyone calm and focused so they wouldn't panic. Medical aid stayed with them, were at a base camp in the tunnel, at the end of the tunnel, then ambulances and choppers to hospital.

This was a full emergency logistics operation, no small thing.

Nice to see actions to the rescue being stronger than the "thoughts and prayers" drek. Real people helping others. That's what it's all about.

Here's the BBC link: https://www.bbc.com/news/live/44755093 Click the Red Arrow for the video explaining the situation and just how dangerous it was and a sense of the level of divers and equipment used to make the impossible, possible

doesn't matter that the Thai coach was a nice guy he screwed up this time

WOW There is a God. My life changed today. Because of what these boys have achieved makes me as a individual more able to connect with the world, with my emotions and my own power.

I can achieve, I can respond to difficult situations, I CAN BE A WINNER IN LIFE.

i AM 63. Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

The coach recklessly endangered the lives of everyone, cost taxpayers millions of dollars, tied of hundreds of rescue workers from other jobs, cost the life of one fine Thai diver all because of his stupidity, he must face justice.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

@macv - read the articles regarding the incident, your view of the incident is totally incorrect. The coach had nothing to do with the kids entering the cave. It was a local initiation rite. When the children did not come home, the parents asked him to find them. It was he who entered the cave first to look for them, and led them to a safe refuge when the cave flooded. He kept them safe for 9 days. He should be lauded for keeping them alive, not condemned.
