Jesus.. So the passenger who died was sucked out the hole and fell to their death..? I can't imagine what sort of hell that must have been to the other passengers in there waiting to see if they would die too..

I wish teleportation was possible, hearing about incidents like this make me not want to get on an airplane regardless of how safe they claim flying is these days.

The pilot, Tammie Jo Shults was not allowed to enlist in the Air Force, but did enlist in the Navy and was one of the first female fighter pilots in the Navy, first to fly F-18. Of course, she wasn't allowed in combat so became an instructor....

Thanks to the crew for getting the plane safely down....listening to the ATC recording, so calm and matter of fact.

So sorry that one passenger lost her life. My thoughts to her family and friends.

1 death in 9 yrs. That's an amazing safety record.

Cowlings are designed to contain flying compressor blades. A cowling coming off isn't good.

As we all know from statistics, driving to the airport is about 10,000,000x more dangerous than flying on a commercial jet in the USA.

The FAA and NTSB and US airlines have an incredible safety record. Every accident is researched, root cause is determined, and either mechanical checks or training are modified.
