To quell unrest, France's Macron speeds up tax cuts but vows no U-turn

The UK had Brexit, the US had Trump, now France has the Yellow Vests. Turning back globalism one country at a time.

This will become even more of a mess.

Macron is not even hiding : he still wants the rich to be richer and to destroy social services.

But the people of France fought a long time for all those benefits, and they will fight to keep them. If the government refuse to listen to the people, it will be overthrown, and that's it.

'Globalism' was a term used by the Germans in the 1940s to refer to a part of their population with a religion they demonized and tried to eliminate (as did Stalin's USSR).

It was also used to refer to Germany's partner (Molotov–Ribbentrop), later enemy, the USSR, a 'union' bent on expanding its beliefs beyond its borders.

Are you using the term the same way?

It's interesting to see that term used today with Russia now expanding its empire beyond current borders while advocating for other nations to become more nationalistic and separate from cooperative agreements, knowing that individual nations are easier to defeat than those united in cooperation.

Russia wants European nations to cooperate with them by controlling gas and oil supplies.

France will be Greece in a few years.

In 2013 Stiglitz pointed out that the rich of the world discuss how far they can squeeze the rest of the people before the people will revolt.

In France they reached that point.

This is not about one tax, or one comment or one measure. This is a wide movement reacting to policies that transfer wealth from bottom to top. 

Anyone , listening to any french media, can hear this from many , very different groups of people.

Unlike the quiet, peaceful 99% movement that US government pepper strayed and beaten to make sure no change would happen, and none happened, the french opt to be seen and heard.

Did you actually read the article you provided link to? Some guy from the Columbia university interpreted Nazi ideas using this word. So? Are seriously claiming that it were Nazis who concocted the word "global"?

Any supplier wants a bigger part of the market. Sure Russians want a greater piece of the European pie, so what? Qatar wants it, Algeria wants it, Caspian Sea countries want it, Americans want to sell its LNG. So? And what this conspiracy theory of yours has to do with the subject of the article?

Of course not. The Nazis used the term 'globalist' as a pejorative to designate an enemy, to unite and rile up their true believers, just like ultrarightists and Russians are using it today. The Nazis used the term 'globalist' to include members of the religious group they attacked (as did Stalin).

Interesting that in the 1930s it was Germany pushing nationalistic agendas, the USSR pushing for a worldwide (i.e. global) acceptance of their beliefs. Today it's Russia pushing the nationalistic agenda using a political structure not too dissimilar from 1930s Germany. Or maybe the czars', perhaps Stalin's.

To remind people that Hitler and Stalin were at one time partners. Of course they became enemies, but both remained similar in their attacks on certain ethnic groups. And in their political control.
