"They should have never let this happen," Trump said.

Nor should Trump have waited so long to get the feds involved in dealing with the virus. The virus started in China, but Trump and his media forces are continuing to say 'I'm not responsible'.

"So I make a great trade deal

Hurting American farmers and making taxpayers provide moneys to further subsidize big agriculture was a great deal - for whom?

he appears to be seeking to deflect attention from criticism over his response to the crisis.

Bingo. In a nutshell.

15 ( +23 / -8 )

"There are many things we could do. We could do things. We could cut off the whole relationship," he replied.

Would cutting off the 'whole relationship' affect the trademarks Ivanka Inc arranged with members of the Chinese Communist Party? Jared Kushner's visa arrangements with China? Trump's clothing manufacturing deals with China?

Hurting American farmers and making taxpayers provide moneys to further subsidize big agriculture was a great deal - for whom?

Newsflash - It's a trade war. There are going to be casualties on both sides. What, don't put tariffs on Chinese goods and let things continue as they were with the Chinese ripping us off? The tariffs are what got their attention and were instrumental in the much improved trade deal.

-14 ( +7 / -21 )

Such a fool. Everyone knows he's not going to cut ties with China, completely. Teddy Roosevelt said 'speak softly and carry a big stick'. In Trump's case it's 'spew loudly and whiff'.

9 ( +17 / -8 )

There are many things we could do.

We could do things.

Sounds like a Dr Seuss book.

What’s next?

“Things without end we could do, me and you.

Such things that the future shall bring....”

Go back a few months to January or thereabouts and while here in Japan we were all concerned in the US Trump was downplaying concerns as if in complete denial of what could happen.

He is the one who screwed up biggest by not taking it seriously from the outset and now he’s scapegoating the Chinese.

14 ( +21 / -7 )

The current occupant of the White House has been a disaster for the United States of America and its people. What he has done, and mainly what he has failed to do, has set the country back several decades.

”And we’ll see what happens”, is not policy making, but utter lunacy. We know what has happened since the country has been under an undeclared state of emergency begin- ning on November 8, 2016, also known as “Another date that will live in infamy”.

The latest attacks on China are part and parcel of exciting his political base during the nonstop reelection campaign.

Ideally, November 3, 2020 will not be another date that will live in infamy.

I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down said Mr Trump (not understanding the damage cutting ties to China would do to his own house)....

Jan. 31 When just the 7th case in the U.S. was confirmed Trump issued an executive order blocking entry to the U.S. from anyone who has been in China in the last 14 days.

Pesky fact, I know. Unless you can refute it, you have to walk back your comment. And Trump's not scapegoating the Chinese, he's criticizing them, like a lot of people in a lot of countries are.

-11 ( +7 / -18 )

I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down said Mr Trump...

You just pulled an Adam Schiff there. Sure, just make up stuff and post it. Jeez....

... (not understanding the damage cutting ties to China would do to his own house)

You don't understand 4D chess. Don't worry, Trump does.

You really think Biden or Cuomo, who might replace him in Nov. would do any better in dealing with China? Give me a break.

-13 ( +5 / -18 )

And Trump's not scapegoating the Chinese, he's criticizing them, like a lot of people in a lot of countries are.

China is not transparent and many would like China to be more open, especially at this time concerning the coronavirus. Trump has blamed them for the US outbreak and called it the China virus and said to a reporter asking a question to him, 'Go ask China'.

He does scapegoat China. He never takes full responsibility nor blame for anything. He scapegoats pretty much ubiquitously, and this is one more example.

5 ( +12 / -7 )

You really think Biden or Cuomo, who might replace him in Nov. would do any better in dealing with China? Give me a break.

I think my Labrador would do a better job than Trump.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Just blah blah, nothing more. November is still 6 months away we haven't heard the loudest logorrhea yet.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

In related news, trump’s sweatshops are already churning out new red caps for over-confident trump fans to purchase. They are emblazoned with the phrase Trump wins another term, shortened to an acronym.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

Nor should Trump have waited so long to get the feds involved in dealing with the virus.

And China should have been more transparent.

The virus started in China, but Trump and his media forces are continuing to say 'I'm not responsible'.

Maybe if China would have been transparent and urgent in telling the world how deadly this virus is, the administration would have taken it as seriously as they are now.

Hurting American farmers and making taxpayers provide moneys to further subsidize big agriculture was a great deal - for whom?

Ask the CCP.

Jan. 31 When just the 7th case in the U.S. was confirmed Trump issued an executive order blocking entry to the U.S. from anyone who has been in China in the last 14 days.

Pity it didn't really help at all and he didn't take any other steps that could have have stopped it.

25,000 new cases in the USA today.

China claims to be the victim of the Covid-19

2 ( +3 / -1 )

No, I think he’s dead on. China needs to be kicked to the curb or at least neutered.

Maybe, but Trump throwing a hissy fit isn’t going to accomplish that. Trump’s “America Alone” approach to everything is just opening up opportunities for China to slide into America’s place in a lot of areas where the US used to be a leader, while at the same time giving US allies little choice but to turn even more to China. He is making China stronger, not weaker, and even if he follows through on this idiotic threat it won’t change that.

I’m not happy with this, I’m too old to be learning Chinese and much preferred a world led by a country I felt shared a lot of my values.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

U.S. President Donald Trump signaled a further deterioration of his relationship with China over the novel coronavirus, saying he has no interest in speaking to President Xi Jinping right now and going so far as to suggest he could even cut ties with the world's second largest economy.

Pure theater - reality TV actually...

We'll know when Trump is serious about China when he stops giving them millions of dollars to make his Trump Collection clothing line in cheap Chinese sweatshop factories. When he cancels those and gives that work to higher paid American textile workers, then we'll know he's serious...

Until then, it's just a typical two-year old Trump tantrum...

5 ( +8 / -3 )

The tariffs are what got their attention and were instrumental in the much improved trade deal

Actually the trade deal only managed to get things back to the way they were before the trade war for now. It hasn't improved anything, on the contrary it gave an advantage to China. The only "positive" thing it gave was something for Trump to proudly announce he made. Which of course is absolutely useless to consumers.

Winner: Donald Trump

Winner: President Xi Jinping

Loser: American companies and consumers

Loser: Farmers and manufacturers

And.......all liberals now love china again. What coronavirus?

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

What do those of you who are serving, or ex, US military think of Trump throwing up a salute?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And.......all liberals now love china again

Who has said that they "loved China"? Or hated it, for that matter? Who is "all liberals"? What are you talking about?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Trump should just hire an ex British spy and pay him to talk to people involved in the Biden business deals in China.

Then capture any dirt and use it to get FISA warrants to spy on anyone connected to the Biden campaign. Also unmask any phone calls made and leak the names to the media.

cause that’s perfectly fine to do, right? China is our number one national security threat. No need to talk to them right now.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

@Serrano Pesky fact, I know. Unless you can refute it, you have to walk back your comment...

Just another Pesky fact for you.... In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command, including the White House management infrastructure..

Newsflash - It's a trade war. There are going to be casualties on both sides. What, don't put tariffs on Chinese goods and let things continue as they were with the Chinese ripping us off?

A trade war that the American people are paying for dont you remember trade war for dummies book...I did try to teach you how trade wars work after you claimed China is paying tariffs on items imported to the US...oh well so its just back to tee hee har Trump on baby Trump on...

1 ( +5 / -4 )

China needs to be kicked to the curb or at least neutered.

You claimed a few days ago Trump was in constant communication with China, "asking them questions" about what happened with Covid-19. Any comment now that it transpired Trump doesn't talk to Xi at all?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Maybe, but Trump throwing a hissy fit isn’t going to accomplish that.

Liberals sucking up to China won’t help either.

Trump’s “America Alone” approach to everything is just opening up opportunities for China to slide into America’s place in a lot of areas where the US used to be a leader, while at the same time giving US allies little choice but to turn even more to China.

As America's largest trading partner and to add what recently has happened, the world has had enough of China and a lot of countries like Germany want compensation, they already sent a bill and are re-thinking their business relations with the Chinese as well as others, so I wouldn’t toot the horn of China just yet.

He is making China stronger, not weaker,

Not quite...

http://www.asianews.it/news-en/(East-Asia,China,Japan,South-Korea,Oceania)-OECD:-China’s-weakening-GDP-to-affect-global-economy-49447.html

and even if he follows through on this idiotic threat it won’t change that.

In light of what is happening, I definitely think it will.

I’m not happy with this, I’m too old to be learning Chinese and much preferred a world led by a country I felt shared a lot of my values

Well, to a certain extent, I won’t quibble on that statement.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Newsflash - It's a trade war.

Hey Trump people, do you realize that this is a Trump tax on Americans? That's nice since everyone else in the world is not getting taxed by Trump. China's trade with US is 20% of their exports.

What coronavirus?

China is beating US in the CV fight since TrumpCare is so bad.

Trump wins another term

Good work, Alistair. Can't underestimate next tactics.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

In an interview with Fox Business Network broadcast on Thursday, Trump said he was very disappointed with China's failure to contain the disease and that the pandemic had cast a pall over his January trade deal with Beijing, which he has previously hailed as a major achievement.

Trump's latest remark is totally contradicting to what he praised Xi Jinping fifteen times in January this year. Specifically, Trump tweeted to his supporters on Jan. 24:

“China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!”

How could Trump prematurely and repeatedly praised Xi who is responsible for the global catastrophe as we see today?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Trump should just hire an ex British spy and pay him to talk to people involved in the Biden business deals in China.

That's OK, he already asked a foreign power to invent dirt on Biden in exchange for aid. Which was illegal. He was even impeached for it, remember?

China is our number one national security threat.

Russia is too. Don't forget about Russia.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

We need someone to be President who is strong on China.

Yet everytime China is brought up, some people just want to talk about neckties.

While totally avoiding that the only other choice for President's son has had multimillion dollar financial deals with China and is still on the board of a China based company. family money, the management fees alone were millions.

How can anyone in that type of financial gain position be counted on to be tough on China? Especially if you claim a few ties impacts the current President's actions?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Another thoughtless remark that will soon disappear into the ether. The only consolation one can take is that he's too feeble-minded to remember what he's said, unless he's denying he ever said it. The US has become a global laughingstock thanks to this syphilitic imbecile.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Liberals sucking up to China won’t help either.

Please post sources of "liberals sucking up to China".

If you need an example of soemone "sucking up to China", by the way, here's a great one:

Would that include Trump whose personal businesses and whose family businesses have strong business relations with China?

Why is Trump for China and against America. SMH

How can anyone in that type of financial gain position be counted on to be tough on China?

Good point. I'll go even further : how can anyone with any sort of external financial gain be counted on to unbiasedly lead the country? You just put your finger on the whole problem with Trump's various dealings in Russia, China, the UAE...

How could you possibly trust Trump on Russia or China when his sons are at the head of his company and are doing business with these countries?

Or has that now conveniently changed to China, just for todays article?

I would like to know what business that the Trump have in China that is more than the Biden interests.

I would like to know what business that the Trump have in China that is more than the Biden interests.

https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/security/news/2017/06/14/433915/trumps-conflicts-interest-china/

In February, in its first major real estate transaction after Trump’s inauguration, the Trump Organization sold a $15.8 million penthouse apartment in Trump Tower to Chinese-American business executive Xiao Yan Chen, who also goes by the name Angela Chen and has been directly linked to a front group for Chinese military intelligence through the misleadingly innocuous-sounding China Arts Foundation.

Please read it all, it's fascinating and contains MANY examples of big businees dealings and conflicts of interest.

Also the same for UAE

The United States, along with all other allied and non-allied nations need to rethink their relationship with China. That is a fact, it's already starting to happen globally and has nothing to do with US politics.

Unfortunately we have a Trump in office who having deteriorated US global credibility for the last 4 years eagerly aiming to win the November US election. And he is using the anti-China stance as a major part of his campaign. Which means he will paint his democratic competitior as "China friendly". Democrats need to counter this "Beijing Biden" calls quickly and effectively as possible. Back ion 2016 China was more afraid of a possible President Hillary Clinton than a President Trump.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Trump showing what a stable genius he is....

"Hey all you American farmers in the swing states, I just insulted your No. 1 customer - you know, the one I put tariffs on so you would all go bankrupt, except for the billions I gave you in socialist subsides. But those won't last, and now I'm going to cut relations so you can't sell your product any more. That'll drive a real stake n your farms. And I'm not doing this based on any facts, I'm doing it in a hopeless effort to help my sinking re-election chances. You go down, so I go up...

Of course, I still get my products made in China since that slave labor is so cheap - only costs me 25 cents to make a tie I can sell for $20.... Winning!

That's how the game works when you play with Trump baby - I win, you lose - suckers"...

0 ( +3 / -3 )

At least Trump and his family are (and have been for decades) businessmen or woman. That would explain all the business that was done, most of it prior to his election. Sold some real estate, made and sold some apparel, etc.

Now do Biden, he has been in public service since the early 1970s. Why would he and his family have all these financial business deals directly with banks and have family on Board of Directors of companies? Why did all of these happen while he was Vice President?

So sure, do Trump and his supposed conflicts with the business run by his sons now. Plus all his pre-2016 business. why not?

But dont forget about Biden, as you are apt to do here. If the American people cared, they wouldnt have elected a businessman. But Biden, hes not a businessman. He has always gotten a check from the taxpayers yet has active financial ties to China.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

this who did more business stuff could go on all day, so I will stop.

My only question is, who do we think China wants to win the US election. And why?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

I would like to know what business that the Trump have in China

Google/Yandex: Ivanka trademarks China; Kushner wealthy investor visa China; Trump clothing brands China

Whether they're 'more than Biden's' is your frame this time. Last time it was China or America. Re the latter, China or America, it's pretty clear the Trump's do business and have done business with China for years, and have also got yuuuuge loans from there. I won't hold my breath waiting to hear a Trump follower say Trump and family should drop their business dealings with China and invest more in the US..

Why is Trump for China and against America. SMH

Hopefully posters will see how ridiculous binary framing is.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

We'll know when Trump is serious about China when he stops giving them millions of dollars to make his Trump Collection clothing line in cheap Chinese sweatshop factories

Speaking of millions, Lincolnman did you get your check? I got mine. Never got anything from Obama, Bush, etc. I remember during the Fukushima disaster, being told to listen to the GOJ for updates, all the while probably getting my life time dose of Cesium and Plutonium when it rained. All the while, other countries getting their citizens the hell of dodge. It got so bad, that we were offered a "you must pay it back" one way ticket to HK, weeks later. Despicable. Bush never gave out any checks to me either, during the financial crisis of 2007. I remember all those dark days, and the incompetent leadership.

Actions speak for me, Lincolnman. You get on here and blah blah, but did you get a check? Nobody had to give that to us. If you hate Trump so much, why not send it back?

Im sold, Lincolnman. Trump 2020. I dont care about these intangible blah blah you and other post. I like these actions, these tangible things. Wont you join me? Its the least you can do to show your gratitude. Could you imagine Biden doing the same? He cant even remember what day of the week it is.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

My only question is, who do we think China wants to win the US election. And why?

I'll play: of course China wants Trump Inc to win. China know how easily Trump folds. And that Trump wants to keep doing business in China, just like the majority of his fellow 'elite' do. China's made the US 'elite', including Trump and family even richer.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Never got anything from Obama, Bush, etc. I remember during the Fukushima disaster, being told to listen to the GOJ for updates, all the while probably getting my life time dose of Cesium and Plutonium when it rained.

Speaking of tangents unrelated to this thread, what do you think about the Yankees in 2021? Or were you just attacking another poster

1 ( +3 / -2 )

You do realize when I say Trump, I mean Donald J. Trump, right? not his daughter and her husband who as business people have no "conflict of interest" as they dont set US foreign policy.

Is Trump even making ties in China anymore? I find it curious that this is a problem, but Nike sweatshops in China never come up. Mainly because of the money that the NBA needs to make from there. All the liberal NBA stars are scared to death to even mention the word "China".

I do believe that Nike sells more China made product in a day than Trump would have ever sold ties in years.

Google/Yandex: Ivanka trademarks China; Kushner wealthy investor visa China; Trump clothing brands China

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

@Serrano That's why the Trump"s tariffs got their attention and resulted in a better trade deal assuming they hold up their end of the bargain. If they don't, they will be sorry....Now that is a lie that needs to be retracted..

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Trump says he doesn't want to talk to Xi right now; could even cut China ties

Phone call tonight at the White House...

"Mr President, President Xi is on the phone....

I don't want to talk to him....

But he's says it's important...

Tough, tell him I'm busy...

He says it's critical....

Who cares....

He says he's considering cancelling all your clothing contracts with Chinese sweatshop factories so you'll have to find others and pay more....

WHAT? Gimme that phone. Mr President, it's such an honor to talk to you - thank you so much for calling me. First, let me congratulate you on your superb leadership on the Corona virus - what genius! How's the wife?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

lincolnman, how about that check?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

So sure, do Trump and his supposed conflicts with the business run by his sons now. Plus all his pre-2016 business. why not?

Because it's illegal. He should have entirely cut ties with his own company once he became president, and he just put his sons in his place, swearing he would not talk to them about his business anymore. Which is of course a blatant lie. And it's one of the subjects of the next set of trials he will be put on.

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/14/appeals-court-green-lights-emoluments-suit-against-trump-257884

It's scary how intolerant you are of people's supposed crimes all the while being completely OK with Trump's proven ones.

But dont forget about Biden,

https://www.factcheck.org/2019/10/trumps-claims-about-hunter-biden-in-china/

"But while Trump has called on China to open an investigation, there has been no evidence presented to date that suggests either Biden did anything illegal."

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I'll play: of course China wants Trump Inc to win.

No, they do not.

China know how easily Trump folds.

He didn’t, he called them out and ticked them off, massively and that’s why they would prefer a puppet like Biden.

And that Trump wants to keep doing business in China, just like the majority of his fellow 'elite' do. China's made the US 'elite', including Trump and family even richer.

So all of the richest people in the world (or liberals) are now in Trump’s pocket? Odd....

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

lincolnman, how about that check?

Which one? The one Trump gives to the CCP to make his ties and shirts or the one for the illegal payoff to Stormy that the NYSD Attorney is holding as evidence?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

neckties seem to still be a problem where billion dollar deals with banks made while flying with Daddy on taxpayer funded overseas trips arent. cause orangemanbad kids sold a condo, or something.

Tells me all I need to know about the "narrative" being pushed.

can we at least agree that Hunter shouldnt be on the board at a Chinese company still? especially considering he promised the liberal media he would quit 6 months ago?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Trump should just hire an ex British spy and pay him to talk to people involved in the Biden business deals in China.

Then capture any dirt and use it to get FISA warrants

At least you’re finally admitting there was dirt there. Dirt is bad right? Or was this dirt the bestest cleanest bigly kind of dirt?

Oh, and maybe you already forgot because your puppet master keeps trying to distract you every 20 minutes, but Trump has already tried to ‘hire’ people in the Ukraine to fabricate ‘dirt’ on Biden. He was literally impeached for doing so.

The people he tried to hire weren’t ‘ex-British spies’ who had been the head of the Russia desk in MI6, now working for a private investigative firm. No, Trump tried to bribe the government of Ukraine by not releasing payment of a congressionally mandated $400 million military aid package. Oh and he didn’t do that ‘officially’, or via congress, or the senate, or the US Ambassador in the Ukraine - he sent his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani on a secret mission.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I got mine. Never got anything from Obama, Bush, etc.

The whole world was never on lockdown during any of their presidencies. That might explain why you didn't get a check. Otherwise it would be the highest form os socialism.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Which one? The one Trump gives to the CCP to make his ties and shirts or the one for the illegal payoff to Stormy that the NYSD Attorney is holding as evidence?

You catch a case of the "Biden"? Slow on the draw? still processing?

No, buddy, the check that the prez sent out to all US citizens

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Otherwise it would be the highest form os socialism

I see. So what about Trumps actions and the Diamond Princess. Socialism? or just genuine care for his citizens?

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

so you took the check?

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

So what about Trumps actions and the Diamond Princess.

You're talking about the boat that was docked and quarantined in Yokohama. What does that have to do with Trump?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

At least Trump and his family are (and have been for decades) businessmen or woman. That would explain all the business that was done, most of it prior to his election.

It takes a certain kind of businessman to bankrupt a casino.

It also takes a certain kind of businessman to make screwing over his contractors his modus operandi.

For example, before his Taj Mahal casino went bankrupt, he still owed $70m to 253 contractors. When contractors complained about delays in pay, Trump said he needed to complete audits.

Now where have we heard that excuse before?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

I mean its not like the neckties arent even made anymore and havent been for a few years now, or anything like that.

To mock Trump, WaPo helpfully told us what happened to each and every Trump brand that isnt being sold anymore. So while there were Trump shirts and ties at Macys in 2004, that is irrelevant now. Things that arent made at all, cant be made in China. But its a fun liberal story still, somehow.

Whatever happened to Trump neckties? They’re over. So is most of Trump’s merchandising empire.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/whatever-happened-to-trump-ties-theyre-over-so-is-most-of-trumps-merchandising-empire/2018/04/13/2c32378a-369c-11e8-acd5-35eac230e514_story.html

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

whats that sound? whoosh? its all going over your head?

tangible things Lincolnman. We should be grateful to be from the country we are from, and a Prez who cares.

Have a nice day!

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

the check that the prez sent out to all US citizens

Actually the american governement sent the checks. Trump insisted to sign his name on it (because he's a narcissist), but the checks would have never been written was it not for the work of the whole congress too. Furthermore, most democracies in the world have resorted to a smiliar mean of handing out money because of the lockdown, so it doesn't make the Trump presidency exceptional in any way.

"But while Trump has called on China to open an investigation, there has been no evidence presented to date that suggests either Biden did anything illegal."

I see, so just like with Trump.

I mean its not like the neckties arent even made anymore and havent been for a few years now, or anything like that.

A vast majority of the MAGA merchandising for his Trump brand as a president is still made in, amongst other sweatshop-friendly countries, China.

I really dont get the flip flop.

One minute it is Trump is such a successful businessman that he is making so many billions of dollars that he needs to be sued for the emoluments clause. We need to see his taxes so we can see that all these billions are coming from Russia and China and (insert other country of todays news, Ukraine, Saudi, etc). Foreign financial interest own Trump. He wouldnt dare anger them to negatively impact all the money rolling in.

Then then next minute, it is that he is a total failure as a businessman, he isnt even a billionaire and we need to see his taxes to prove he is barely a millionaire. He has sold nothing to no one since the Apprentice ended and he is incompetent in business and politics. Trump steaks with Trump vodka, anyone?

At some point, you have to pick one.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

yes, the non official items that are what are called "knockoffs", yes.

The official items are made in the USA.

No different than the guys with the table outside the concerts in Japan. Inside, official merchandise. Outside, China sweatshop items at a discount. Trump isnt responsible for those, as the "vendors" in this article verify.

https://abcnews4.com/news/local/where-is-maga-merchandise-made

However, the official Trump gear sold on the campaign website is made in America by American workers.

A vast majority of the MAGA merchandising for his Trump brand as a president is still made in, amongst other sweatshop-friendly countries, China.

so I guess we can stop hearing about Trump shirts and neckties being made in China in 2004 for Macys.

its 2020 now and they are no longer being made or sold, other than as relics of the past on auction sites.

Liberals sucking up to China won’t help either.

Liberals aren't President. If they were and were sucking up to China I'd be willing to entertain criticism of that.

As America's largest trading partner and to add what recently has happened, the world has had enough of China and a lot of countries like Germany want compensation, they already sent a bill and are re-thinking their business relations with the Chinese as well as others, so I wouldn’t toot the horn of China just yet.

Germany hasn't sent a bill, but yes, I agree that most of the rest of the world is mad at China and wants nothing to do with it. But the international system abhors a vacuum at the top, which is what Trump has created. China isn't strong enough to completely replace the US, in part because the rest of the world doesn't trust it, but the US turning its back on the world has created an opportunity for China which it is actively exploiting. Other countries though they might not like it aren't in a position to change that.

This is not tooting the horn of China, I do not like China and do not at all want this to happen. Its just a description of what is actually happening.

Not quite...

http://www.asianews.it/news-en/(East-Asia,China,Japan,South-Korea,Oceania)-OECD:-China’s-weakening-GDP-to-affect-global-economy-49447.html

Did you actually read that article? It says China's GDP is going to grow at a rate of 4.9% this year, a bit less than usual due to coronavirus. That is insanely trivial in comparison to the decline the shutdown is imposing on the US economy, which looks like it is going to contract by double digits this quarter.

I'm not tooting China, but the data is very clear: its economy is not being as hard hit by this as the US or Europe is. Also, this is the effect of the Coronavirus we are talking about, not anything Trump has done.

Any way you slice it, China is coming out of this in a stronger position relative to the US than it was before, despite the fact that it too is being hurt by it and will suffer some long term damage as American companies move their supply chains elsewhere. Not all of that is Trump's fault, but a lot is: his preference for tarrifs and protectionist policies against China only inflict short term economic pain on the latter, while at the same time his poliicies in other areas more than make up for what China loses there. His policies are a shambles and I'm not happy about it because, like I said, I actually prefer a world order in which a country that shares a lot of my values is #1. I don't want China to be the new international leader but Trump is making that happen despite his hamfisted efforts to the contrary.

What is that word soup supposed to mean? Trump is in the real estate business, not "ties and shirts". Where some souvenirs for his campaign are made is hardly anything he is personally involved in. And what does "Stormy" whoever that is have to do with anything?

Fact is, Trump 100% correct in reducing the export of manufacturing to China and to put pressure on Xi to come clean about the CCP coverup of this virus they gave to the world.

Trump is not in the "ties and shirts" business? You don't know your Sainted Leader very well do you...you ought to visit his website more often...

Hats, shirts, even a Trump teddy bear...

https://www.trumpstore.com/collections/men

And the ties are right here - and I had the price wrong - they're $125 for one....

https://www.trumpstore.com/collections/men-accessories

So, since you were clearly incorrect, can we get your apology now?

Why is President Trump’s helicopter called“Marine One" instead of "Navy One"? Isn't it because the Marines are an independent service of the Navy?

At any rate, Trump's behavior is like that of a crying baby as usual, crying out loud until his demand is satisfied.

Currently, the U.S. owes China $112 trillion in the form of U.S. national bonds, whereby the two countries are mutually closely intertwined, economically, I assume. Does Trump want to disarray all this?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

and where does it indicate made in China? hear that sound? its the goalposts as they move.....

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

@blacklaebso I guess we can stop hearing about Trump shirts and neckties being made in China in 2004 for Macys

You bring up a good point: because Trump has NOT released his latest tax info, who knows which businesses around the world he does business with. The best way for him to get people to stop saying he's still connected with China is for him to show that through showing his taxes.

re his sons running his businesses, who knows which countries they do business with. Though they have admitted to dealing with Russia.

Given Jared and Ivanka are White House employees, it's hard to remove them from a connection with Trump. And reports have been written saying both are getting richer while Trump's in office.

Associated Press:

https://apnews.com/afs:Content:6391630154

CLAIM: Trump’s “Make America Great Again” caps are made in China, not the U.S.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The hats are made by a manufacturer in California.

Trump’s official campaign store website states that “All of our products are 100% proudly made in the USA.”

Guess that puts this to rest, so we dont need to hear about this on every single article about China anymore.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

And I couldn't believe it when I saw it, but scroll down and you can see a pair of Trump Flip-flop sandals for sale - just $40....

Flip-flops - what could be more Trump....

So, all the Trump supporters here today that said Trump wasn't in the clothing business, and that he no longer sold ties, when can we expect your mea culpa?

I think the situation in Ukraine shows how Trump puts himself before country. It wouldn't be surprising to see him do that with China.

The good news for him is that his supporters will look the other way.

You might want to take a look too.

I put Breitbart next to National Enquirer and other tabloid outlets as ones marketing their publications to the intellectually challenged and ever-fearful.

Of course they have the right to print their opinions. Just like RT, infowars and others. Freedom of the press is great. I'm glad I don't live in a place where the state controls, or as in Russia 'partially' controls media.

Then then next minute, it is that he is a total failure as a businessman, he isnt even a billionaire and we need to see his taxes...

The fact that you don’t understand this very simple situation, means everything you spout in defence of Trump is irrelevant.

Most of his companies end up going bankrupt owing millions of dollars to employees and contractors who never see a cent. He has used questionable accounting practices to undervalue and then overvalue assets when dealing with banks and tax assessors.

Trump clearly has money, so the tax returns will prove where that money comes from. If it’s ‘legitimate’ then we’ll see how fairly he has screwed his employees, contractors, and the tax authorities to acquire it. If it’s ‘illegitimate’, then we’ll see to whom he’s indebted.

Thats the simple take. The more advanced take, which I’m sure you have no interest in hearing, encompasses a whole lot more possible criminality. It’s nothing political at all.

You seem uninterested in how much Hunter made and is making from his Daddy in CHINA.

So I have no interest in if or how Trump's daughter's husband makes money or not until it becomes an interest on both sides, not just one.

Also Son and son-in-law isnt really the same relationship, you know?

How much money will Jared make through his roles on whichever virus groups he's been assigned to by big daddy.

Earlier posted that insider trading by politicians, regardless party, is wrong. Insider trading by WH employees, including those related to Trump, is also wrong. in-law or not.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

insider trading, yes that is illegal. But that is not what I am referring to when I say "make money" no more than it is when I ask how why Hunter Biden is "making money" in China. Hunter is being paid a salary by a Chinese company and his family getting management fees, not insider trading.

No one has implied that is what is going on with Kushner. Is it? he is doing insider trading now?

Insider trading by WH employees, including those related to Trump, is also wrong. in-law or not.

I think the situation in Ukraine shows how Trump puts himself before country.

If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money. - Joe Biden

Chinese Private Equity Firm:

https://nypost.com/2020/04/15/hunter-biden-still-listed-as-board-member-of-chinese-company-report/

In November 2013, the three signed contracts setting up their fund, named BHR Partners. Hunter became an unpaid member of the fund’s board, but declined to take an equity stake in the company until after his father left the White House, the magazine reported.

Since then, the firm has invested at least $2.5 billion on behalf of its clients in automotive, energy, mining and technology deals, according to the Wall Street Journal.

After his father left office, Biden took a 10% equity share in BHR Partners, but when he announced his departure from the board, he did not say whether his equity stake would be sold.

But lets keep talking about some Macys ties from 2004-2012, that havent been made in China since at least 2015 when the Macys deal was over.

Im good, enjoy your day.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

So what illegal or criminal actions did Hunter Biden make over the Chinese equity company?

I guess companies like Microsoft and Apple make tens of billions from their Chinese tradings.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I really dont get the flip flop.

It's because there is no flip-flop.

Someone can at the same time sell real estate for hundreds of millions of dollars (through shady deals) and be a failure as a businessman because he will have invested those hunderd of millions in projects that end in bankrupcy and therefore make him a billionaire only in name. There is absolutely no paradox between the two. The best recent example of this is Jared Kushner's real estate deal in New York, which on paper and to the uninitiated reads like a huge deal, but is known to be one of the dumbest real estate decisions in history. That is how you can at the same time churn millions and be a failure. That is also how people are led to abuse their position of power to make further shady deals:

https://www.justsecurity.org/69094/timeline-on-jared-kushner-qatar-666-fifth-avenue-and-white-house-policy/

yes, the non official items that are what are called "knockoffs", yes.

You did not read the article I posted.

"Only 15% of the products in the Trump store are made in the US."

The products sold on the Trump store are not "knock-offs". I mean uless you're telling me they are.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

It isn't.

Put Trump in front of a camera and hand him a microphone, and he rambles incoherent gibberish. And his followers with cheers as they eat it up. I do not understand this. What happened to Americans' down-to-earth, pragmatic, sensible, get-things-done approach to challenges? Now they just scream obscenities and fling brickbats at each other.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Trump does not defend US democracy from the ruinous consequences of conspiracy thinking. Instead, he embraces such thinking. A conspiracy theory—birtherism—was his pathway to power, and, in office, he warns of the threat of the “deep state” with the ferocity of a QAnon disciple. He has even begun to question the official coronavirus death toll, which he sees as evidence of a dark plot against him. How is he different from Alex Jones, from the conspiracy manufacturers of Russia and the Middle East? He lives in the White House.

This improbable question—how did a person with a weakness for conspiratorial thinking achieve the presidency?—might be among the most consequential of the coming election, which is not merely a political contest, but a referendum on Enlightenment values and on reality itself.

Nonsense is nonsense, except when it kills. And conspiracy thinking, especially when advanced by the president of the United States, is an existential threat.

What a perfect timing for President Trump to cut diplomatic ties with the PROC!

President English Tsai of the democratic and 'like minded', ' friend and ally ' Taiwan, ROC or ROC, Taiwan will be inaugurated for her second term this May 20!

Go for it Donald! Such a move will right the wrongs that America did !

Re-establishing ties with the freedom loving democratic Island Republic will make you the greatest US President of all time and make you the da-kine 'Time Man of the Century!

Go for it President Trump!

You should make the announcement while attending the inauguration of President Tsai in Taipei!

Bravo!

The ink was barely dry and the plague came over. And it doesn't feel the same to me.

Sure is trying to push that anti-Chinese narrative, isn't it?

Nobody called the virus of 09 a plague or the American virus. And rightly so.

Yet this damaged and dangerous individual, who somehow became President, is stirring up bigotry, as usual.

This could result in further attacks on East Asians or Americans of Asian heritage. Lives could be lost.

And for what?

To deflect from the appalling way in which the pandemic has been handled by the current administration.

Neither did your post about liberals.

Liberals are the ones defending China’s actions..

China didn't do anything to the world.

Where is the CCP? Who are they? What’s the name of the country of origin where this virus came from? China

The Xi government tried to silence medical experts,

They are Chinese and the country they live in is called: China.

The American people shouldn't let the Trump administration get away for what it did to them.

They don’t and they aren’t blaming him, if they did, he’d be in the 20’s and his popularity wouldn’t be gaining.
