It calls for more money for high-tech surveillance equipment, stronger measures at U.S. ports of entry, more Border Patrol and customs agents and letting National Guard personnel help with aviation and intelligence support on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Which is a lot smarter and cost effective than a wall.

He had promised as a candidate to deport all of the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States, and said a border wall would be built, paid for by Mexico

And anyone who had a brain laughed. Those with that odd kind of emotional attachment to Trump actually believed him.

"It looks to me like he's preparing to keep Hillary Clinton's campaign promise rather than his own," Republican Representative Steve King told CNN

Ouch.

Moderate GOPers allowed themselves to be rolled before because raising the debt ceiling was a must-do and the bill contained hurricane relief for Texas - also, really, a must-do.

DACA is not, for a large number of GOPers, a must-do.

Trump cannot get this through congress without at least some GOP support. Let the elephant infighting begin.

Oh, how deceptive and methodical our media is and they wonder why so many people don't trust them. I know a lot of Trump supporters, lots of them and I don't know of a single person with the exception of Ann Coulter that ever believed Trump would kick out 11 million illegal aliens. I just wanted him to fixit that 11 more won't come in illegally.

Trump's team talking to the Russians - NO problem for Repubs.

Trump talking to Dems to solve DACA - BIG problem for Repubs.

The wall was always a joke and was never going to be built. No idea what is going on inside the tiny mind of the Donald, if anything, but long may it continue, whatever it is! Annoying people that he can't afford to annoy is a very positive development for the world.

So, you agree that Trump's promises are lies. That's a start, I guess. And SuperLib's comment about those with a brain laughing are spot on; don't forget most Trump supporters are uneducated white people. Probably many of those you speak of, matter of fact.

For those worried about 11 more immigrants, try rounding your estimates by 100. Then you will have 89 fewer than expected. I would offer a similarly creative service with Trump's or anybody else's taxes but that is probably illegal (i.e. felony, not misdemeanor overstaying your visa or no visa charges given to the 'aliens.')

Ah yes, race based, elitist, classism. The favorite fall back position of the American left.

The media is deceptive because Trump said he'd kick out the 11 million illegal aliens and won't, so they're being scrupulous because they didn't interpret him properly? Nah, they're just repeating what he's said. He said, in his first townhall meeting, 'day 1 of my presidency, illegal immigrants are getting out and getting out fast'. Ann Coulter, whom the Trump supporters loved, and perhaps still do, except the fact she is calling out Trump for being incapable of keeping his promises, is now singled out by you as not being smart enough to not believe him? LOL. I'm sure all your Trump supporters you know also didn't expect him to build the wall with Mexican money, either.

What a difference a reality check makes. The watchword and template for this most un-Republican, Republicrat of presidents is compromise. People are slowly (belatedly) cottoning on to the strategy; bluster and bombast to appease the base, the true-believers, then full on Art of the Deal Appeasement of the assorted gang of One Worlders and their useful idiots all performing to a we know that they know that we know script. The cynicism is palpable, reminiscent of that scene in Lawrence of Arabia where the water works flies an Arab flag but wouldn't be operable without Brit technical support.

There won't be a deal. He's just trying to get the GOP to stop blocking his foolish ideas.

Deporting all illegal immigrants is want hard liners want. Nobody thinks it will happen, but an attempt at following the current laws would be nice. Doesn't matter where they came from.

A virtual wall would be nice. I'd be inclined to privatize the effort and pay a bounty for capture and deport efforts for registered agents. Especially by people who own property on the borders with Canada and Mexico.

DACA is less of a concern to me personally, but they are breaking US laws. That's the bottom line. The parents are 100% at fault for putting their children at risk group and cutting them off from their family and culture. Child abuse?

So, you agree that Trump's promises are lies.

No, not at all, I knew that was never possible, I just want him to allow congress to come up with proper and legal legislation for DACA and to make sure something like this NEVER happens again.

And SuperLib's comment about those with a brain laughing are spot on;

Again, with the exception of Ann Coulter, the majority of Trump supporters knew he would never kick out 11 million. We all just want to make sure that illegals come into this ountry legally.

don't forget most Trump supporters are uneducated white people.

And most liberals don't have a clue about governing otherwise they'd be in power, all that education and nothing to show.

Probably many of those you speak of, matter of fact.

Yup!

Heh, real Trump supporters (as opposed to the many games here) are losing the faith in the Führer after this latest flip-flop.

Even Ann Coulter is calling for his impeachment and sharing videos of the formerly faithful burning their red MAGA baseball caps.

"Amnesty Don" according to Breitbart.

Lol....

Doubt it,  only the few unreasonable conservatives that have unrealistic expectations that 11 million people will be rounded up.

Even Ann Coulter is calling for his impeachment and sharing videos of the formerly faithful burning their red MAGA baseball caps.

She did not, she's saying if he doesn't keep his promise, then it's hello president Pence. I like Coulter, but sometimes she can wander off way out in the woods.

bass4funk: "Doubt it"

Doubt it all you like, as you often do with facts instead of alternative facts, it's still fact. You hear DAILY about many Conservatives who regret their vote, and how many people have left the administration again?
