We all know to wear masks when around other people from outside our household. We don't need a law to mandate it, but some people do need that law.

I don't understand why some people consider masks as a violation of their freedom and refuse to wear them. The difference was that these countries took the necessary measures in the first place, and when the virus was under control, they then began graduated opening programs.

The US never took the necessary measures in the first place, and decided while the virus was still rampant that it was time to open up.

Just look at Canada or Europe where the leadership hasn’t buried its head in the sand and allowed the virus to destroy their countries. Their kids are safely going back to schools. Their businesses are safely reopening. Their economies aren’t being destroyed.

There are very few parts of the country where the outbreak is minimal, especially Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Texas, etc. So what he’s saying is do not reopen in those and other States where the infection is spiking.

As an educator I agree with you that we should follow Fauchi’s advice which was, basically, that Trump is wrong to threaten States that don’t reopen and the majority of the country should postpone any reopening until the infections are under control and minimal and it’s safe to reopen.

It seems to me Americans misunderstand something about face mask, not wear it forever, maybe for a couple of years at most. No violation of freedom. After vaccine is made, no need of face mask any more. Evidence is more masks they are wearing, less virus is spreading for each other. Mask is a better prevention. Why not wear it? Look at France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and others.
