Crazy times. Too bad we don’t have a president capable of riding to the challenge.

Total infections are increasing by a third a day in the US. I wish everyone over there the best in fighting it, but I think it is out of control already - infections will top a hundred thousand before long.

At this rate it may even start approaching the season flu infections and deaths. Good news is that the news media are probably doing well with lots of commercial revenue.

You seem to be trying to minimize this virus. Why?

Crazy times. Too bad we don’t have a president capable of riding to the challenge.

Too bad the opposition party is more interested in winning the next election than saving lives. Rep Clyburn intends to use this crisis to push Dem legislative priorities. Dems in Senate blocking progress on immediate response. Crazy times.

You seem to be trying to minimize this virus. Why?

No, OnTheTrail seems to be providing perspective.

20% of the nation is under a stay-at-home directive, including in the three largest cities in the nation. This is mind-boggling! I feel like I'm living in a science fiction movie, except that unfortunately this is much too real.

If hoarders would stop buying more than they need so that we could cut our grocery store visits down to once or twice a week, we'd be doing much better.

There were many medical officials that had zero idea of the spread and intensity of the virus, none of them knew from the beginning we would all be at this injunction. Now that we are, everyone is scrambling to fight this thing because time is of the absolute essence and States like CA and NY have been hit the hardest need the most assistance.

You could count on an increase in Southern and East Coast State cases with all of the spring breakers returning from Florida.

That was just dumb, but young people think they’re invincible, every young person does.

Many “medical officials [ ] had zero idea of the spread and intensity of the virus”, but none of them “underestimated the power and rapid spread worldwide of this virus” or stood in front of the country and downplayed its significance. Competent people don’t do this.

The democratic controlled House passed a relief bill before the republicans controlled senate even thought about making a move. Then, the republicans controlled senate obstructed and started to play politics with this issue AFTER Donny kicked off playing politics with this issue. But, yeah, it’s the Dems whose highest priority is politics. Smh.

“We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”

It would have been a lot worse if Trump hadn't taken that early strong action. No one knew how much it had already spread at the time.

tRump said it would be down to "zero" in a few weeks.

Not only Trump, a lot of people even in the medical field underestimated the power and rapid spread worldwide of this virus,

I didn’t read any people in the medical field saying it would be down to zero in a few weeks. You must have links to them.

"This is going to be the greatest crisis, domestically, since the Great Depression and it's abundantly clear right now. That's why we need a full scale mobilization of the American military and we need the Congress to act like we're on the way to the next Great Depression. Do what Franklin Roosevelt did in the New Deal and actually put money in the hands of people and local governments and hospitals, not big corporations. Forget bailing out the airlines right now. Bail out the people, bail out the hospitals, bail out the cities and states and counties that are actually trying to provide for basic human need, That's what they should be doing. But the president just has to sign a document to actually mobilize the military. Sign a document ordering factories that could produce ventilators to a 24/7 production line and the military could distribute ventilators to where the need is greatest. There is no president Democrat or Republican in our history who would not have done this already."

Mayor Bill de Blasio, NYC

As long as everyone can put their differences aside that’s the only thing that matters.

Allow me to retort: The links have been posted many times already.

Dems in Senate blocking progress on immediate response. Crazy times.

because republicans are catering too much for big business and not enough support for the AMerican people, Democrats want to change this

anybody with half a brain could tell time was of the essence they just had to look at China and how fast it was spreading, but No Trump had to downplay it for 2 weeks, saying it was going to be at zero soon, like a miracle,. very strong response

Seems like god isn't listening to him

It’s quite obvious that someone finally got through to Donny and made him understand that he was tanking his re-election chances with his incompetent downplaying of this situation and spreading misinformation, which is why he has toned it down a bit.

Senate Democrats Sunday blocked a critical economic relief package worth more than $2 trillion, stalling plans to pass the bill by Monday and send it to the House.

Lawmakers and the Trump administration hoped to send a positive message to unstable stock markets and to those worried about the damage to the economy and the job losses caused by the spread of the virus.

The measure includes sending direct cash payments that would average about $3,000 per family and expanding unemployment insurance, as well as $350 billion in aid to struggling small businesses. It also provides $500 billion in loans to industries hurt by the economic slowdown.

This is optically not good, so now the Dems are in a bind, so what will they do? Interesting even in this crisis....wow.....

 Competent people don’t do this.

That may very well be the case, but I would need to see examples of what "competent" people have done so far before I could make that judgment. Apparently Trump's messaging at the beginning of this event is a major point of contention, but in the context of the warpspeed timeline of this pandemic that was a long time ago. And a lot of water has gone under the bridge. The question is; is Trump downplaying this now?
