Welcome to the good ole US of A.

Damn good reason not to visit.

What a sad incident, but the sadder thing is that I've become numb to such incident happening in USA...

10 ( +13 / -3 )

It's been a long period of peace since the last one. A good ten or so days I think.

It would be easier to remember the amount of time if I could even remember which incident was the last one.

NOW is it OK for doctors and nurses to speak out against gun violence without the NRA imperiously telling them to shut up?

Nah, didn't think so.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Awful, sad.

NRA may now suggest that doctors be armed as well..? And and while we're at it how about the patients, too.

This never ending cycle of violence/shootings is really not a laughing matter but a disgrace.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

"Stay in your lane", said the NRA to the concerened and distressed doctors. What will they say this time around?

10 ( +12 / -2 )

If doctors feel they need to be armed, who are you to say they can't be? I am all for free choice. Give people the choice to do what they feel is necessary to ensure their safety.

Hospitals, schools, and places of worship are some of the areas you'd think you're safe. There's something a bit more sickening to me when such things happen in these places, although anywhere else is bad enough. And just think, the hospital is where patients get treated and healed, so for this to happen...

Also, this incident happened to be another example of how a law enforcement official got killed in the process. So for those people who advocate arming doctors and nurses with guns (or school teachers, or pastors, etc), who are not as trained as police are, just imagine how stupid your proposals are.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Not even safe in a hospital!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

It would be a tragedy in any most countries, but in the US it is just the deadliest of 27 shooting incidents that happened that day...

https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/last-72-hours

November 19th, 323rd day of the year, 316 mass shootings.

The US should just LEAVE their flags at half-staff permanently.

RIP to innocent lives lost. Again.

I'll echo other posters wondering how the NRA will respond to a doctor being murdered by another gun nut. Or will the NRA nabobs slink off to their safe rooms filled with weapons only armies and police departments should have, or at least should have in a reasonable nation that cares about the safety of its citizenry.

Unlike the US where the gun industry, gun hobbyists and the terminally afraid, those so weak they need weapons to match the police and military, care jack nothing for the majority of their fellow citizens who do not own guns.

The NRA and the guns industry in general are smiling today thinking gun and ammo stores across the US will probably see a jump in sales, which typically happens after each gun slaughter.

The already frightened gun owners get even more frightened thinking other people may have guns more powerful than theirs and go out and buy more.

And the cycle downward accelerates. What a sick, sick culture.

Thank you Japan for having such strict gun laws.

When will these politicians EVER take responsibility for their failed political policies and actions, Orange County, prepare for your future.

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

Yes, guns don’t kill people! People [with guns] kill people.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

A day in the life of USA.

"In a sign of the random nature of the rampage, the pharmacy assistant shot by the gunman just happened to be getting off an elevator, Johnson said. Her name has not been released."

Random nature of the rampage in anywhere besides the US, because of guns. As such, it is anything but random, it is just another day in Mer'ka.

bass4funk: "When will these politicians EVER take responsibility for their failed political policies and actions, Orange County, prepare for your future."

Agree, bass... the Second Amendment is and has always been a failure. You need to own it and give up your 24 guns. Until then, you're just part of why this happens every day.

Like the ones that allow disgruntled former fiances easy access to firearms so they can live out their revenge fantasies in hospitals?

Disgusting.

If you want to vote for NRA, keep it on the streets and Walmart. Not hospitals.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

@ kawabegawa

Seriously? Why don’t you arm every Tom, Dick and Harry while you’re at it.?

“Welcome to the good ole US of A.

Damn good reason not to visit.”

Yup. Makes me wonder why the caravans keep coming & coming. Knowing darn well they might get shot up in whichever democratic city they end up in.

But yet, everyone keeps moving to the USA.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Wc62six:

Makes me wonder why the caravans keep coming & coming.

I do not wonder. The top three countries of highest murder rates are (1) El Salvador (2) Honduras (3) Venezuela. The murder rates in those countries exceed 50 per 100,000 population a year. In comparison, US is 90th with rate 5.3. So US is relatively "safe". It is, however, still very high comparing countries like Japan, which is 219th with rate 0.28.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If gun owners are not part of the solution, they are part of the problem.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

If gun owners are not part of the solution, they are part of the problem.

And the Democrats controlling these cities aren't helping either.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

Considering the nature of the shooting and who the shooter was. It's quite obvious the shooter was a legal gun owner. So how will the NRA and cronies try and spin this? The good old "mental illness" rehash. Yeah, this is going to blow up in the NRA's face. But they also lobbied to help put laws in place to avoid any effective research on shootings that could support anti-gun or more restrictive laws on gun ownership.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

We take our guns to the toilet with us, to the attic, the basement, when we take the trash out.

Yes

if nra gun supporters love guns so much why do they keep coming to Japan

Weird. Just like the NRA doesn't allow guns at their rallies. What a cult! They don't allow guns at their own events.

condemn the NRA and not the attacker

They promote the ownership of military grade weaponry and fully auto machine guns.

Should we ban smartphones?

I'd rather be assaulted with a smatphone than a Milkor MGL. Good point, I'd rather have machine guns banned. At least I have a good chance of dodging a smartphone if it's thrown at me.

Maybe gun ownwers don't carry guns on them 24/7 and use then for pillows at night

Maybe they do

Maybe they follow the rules and leave their guns at home when they go to the airport

Then how will you protect yourself if you are attacked on the way to the airport? Happens all the time

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Proof?

We take our guns to the toilet with us, to the attic, the basement, when we take the trash out.

Your quote. It's what you and your TrumpNRA2A friends when you go back to the USA as you confirmed.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I'd rather be assaulted with a smatphone than a Milkor MGL

Oh god, not this again.

Yeah, sure you can buy one of the FIVE Milkor MGLs available for sale to civilians (yes, just five) with a proper NFA destructive device stamp if you have the 20 THOUSAND dollars to buy one AND $200 for the tax stamp for EACH 40mm round. I'm pretty sure you aren't going to be assaulted on the street with one of them.

Stop fear mongering and at least try to stick to reality.

@bintaro

https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/last-72-hours

So the very first incident listed as 'gun violence' wasn't even a shooting, it was somebody stealing a gun. I don't think that really counts as 'gun violence'... I'm not going to bother clicking on any more.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

You'd think gun supporting politicians would have created a mental health action plan by now.

But my guess is there is nothing at all.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

You'd think gun supporting politicians would have created a mental health action plan by now.

Nah, that's just a tag line they have figured out they can put out there, and since it's impossible to action upon, they can use it forever and pretend they care about the shootings.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

You'd think gun supporting politicians would have created a mental health action plan by now.

And the Dems Strike it down every time, looks like Chicago with its already strict gun laws will continue to see the gangs and violence continue.

But my guess is there is nothing at all.

Yup.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Funny you say that sarcastically--you mean to say getting attacked at airport

No, on the way to the airport. Carjacking, for example

with a proper NFA destructive device stamp

But that's against TrumpNRA2A. It's an infringement and a restriction. I have a right to defend myself and I have a right to buy the gun I see fit to defend myself. An AR is not enough these days.

So to confirm with America's NRATrump2A freedoms I am able to buy a Kord Machine Gun (with a 2ANRA Trump NFA destructive device stamp)

it was somebody stealing a gun.

What if I have a Heckler & Koch MG4 (purchased with a 2ANRA Trump NFA destructive device stamp) and someone steals it?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Not from the US,  clueless on what gun ownership means, but I can see that the interpretation of it is so diverse, cluttered and links to so many ends. If there is an institution that supposedly represents gun ownership, isn't that entity responsible for crimes committed from the cause they promote?

@nishikat

I see you are up to the same old antics of throwing out random military weapons that you actually know nothing about, but discovered on Google so you can try to make your argument sound scary.

Uneducated, inflammatory people like you are the reason that the pro- and anti- gun crowds waste all their time fighting each other instead of trying to work together to solve problems. The folks on the fringe left (you) and the fringe right just scream nonsense at each other and any remotely reasonable people who actually want to even attempt to solve anything just get drowned out by all the incomprehensible screeching.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

bass: And the Dems Strike it down every time

I said that gun supporting politicians should have created a mental health plan by now. If they have, and they've put it to vote, and Democrats voted against it, I'd like to see more information if you have it.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

For all of you saying the NRA is innocent of anything involving these problems. And then saying you want "proof" and "research"... look up the Dickey Amendment. Pushed for by the NRA, gun manufacturers lobbying for it.

This is how BS US politics are where people /corporate entities with lots of money control the government, and not allowing it to be controlled by the people. The very opposite of democracy that we like to tout.

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2018/03/23/596413510/proposed-budget-allows-cdc-to-study-gun-violence-researchers-skeptical

So, yeah... they have to get rid of that 'rider" they installed so we can probably move forward on better and more effective gun control/licensing requirements etc.
