Like I said earlier, it's time to ask who is radicalizing our incels.

That's not a sarcastic question either. Someone is teaching boys that they are so entitled to sexual relationships of their choosing that they deserve to murder people when they don't get them. We should know who.

From what's on the net, it would appear this guy admired Elliot Rodger, and was also what's called an "incel" (involuntary celibate, a new word to me). Basically, he couldn't find a girl who liked him. So he decided in his horribly misogynistic mind that it is women's and society's fault (not his) and therefore he should go out and murder innocent folks in protest.

What's sad is that a lot of comments on Canadian news websites were from very ignorant folks instantly blaming Muslims, immigration, and Trudeau. This was without anyone even knowing who the murderer was.

Interestingly enough, all those folks totally disappeared from the comments boards as soon as it was known the murderer was a white man of Armenian descent, and the cause was not what their Rebel Media (Canadian equivalent to Breitbart) keeps telling them is the source of all of their ills (i.e. "non-White immigrants"). It's not as bad as it is here in the States, but it's still very sad to know there are that many crazies over in Canada too.

Hopefully the full weight of the law will be used to very publicly crush this upstart. The incels must be reminded of their place in society.

Not necessarily. This may very well be a case of group-think. They may be radicalizing each other by respecting guys like [name left out] who go off and kill people, creating an environment where some of them psych themselves up enough to follow in his footsteps, earning respect from the rest of his disaffected kin. For someone who gets no respect from the 'Chads and Staceys', who they consider to be the world at large, respect from the only people they feel any affinity with (other guys who can't get any) is a very tempting carrot.

This is a difficult situation to fix. Society has become so hypersexualized, that you end up with a group of people who are going crazy because they see it everywhere, yet can't even get a tiny taste of it. The problem is that the type of people in this situation are generally people who are socially inept, which makes the people around them less likely to want to help them, in turn making them more creepy, in a vicious circle.

A few years ago, there was the pick-up artist movement. It took a lot of criticism, some of it valid, but I was always of the opinion that teaching guys how to effectively socialize with girls (and guys for that matter) is a necessity for some people, who aren't able to figure it out on their own. In pretty much every other aspect of life, we encourage people to go out and learn more when they want to get better at something. Learn, practice, improve. Yet suddenly, when it came to meeting women, it was just be yourself, which let's face it, for some people is about the worst advice you could give.

The only way we can deal with these 'incels' (new word for me too) is to deal with their disaffection from society. Teaching them how to effectively interact with the rest of society would be a good step in this direction.

Nothing cryptic about the messsage at all. He's a misogynist who is too emotionally inadequate to see that women aren't interested in him due to his own shortcomings, not theirs.

So 10 people dead so I can learn a new word? What a sick world we live in.

I suspect that his main priority in his actions wasn't for you to learn a new word.

Wasn't the guy who murdered all those people in Akihabara a few back one of these incel types? He worked in a factory and couldn't get a girl friend so he went on a rampage. This is scary stuff; these people can't manage normal relationships with women so they go on murder sprees. Why on earth is this happening?

That's 'a' solution. Another one is to tell them that there is no such thing as 'society' i.e. we human beings are both individuals & members of 'groups' of ppl.

My point is, ppl may be 'incels' in a given society/community and 'popular with the ladies' in another social environment. ( reckon there are plenty of former incels -am talking about westerners- who are doing ok in japan)

I am surprised the Canadian police did not kill him when he pointed a pistol to the police, he is a very lucky guy!

Not necessarily. This may very well be a case of group-think.

In that case, someone is still teaching it. We need to know who and why.

It sounds like a lot of people here are new to the incel community, but do a little digging and you realize they are screwed up. One incel community on reddit famously had a member pose as a woman in order to ask for legal advice about how rapists generally get caught and how a woman who was drugged and raped would be advised to identify her rapist, in order to learn how not to get caught committing such a rape.

But the even creepier thing is when you compare their community rhetoric with that of other communities, like red pillers or MRAs or PUAs or MGTOWs, the world view expressed across these groups with respect to women is startlingly similar. In all groups, women are inherently untrustworthy sex-objects who shouldn't be allowed to make decisions for themselves. The only difference is that incels see themselves as having failed their goal to be PUAs.

Lucky that they did not do what he requested? Perhaps they were aware of the store and the people behind him.

It's definitely an ego problem. Some grow up to be sociopathic assaulters one or another. Look at Adolf Hitler's youth history. He was a control freak with a serious GF and she committed suicide. He 'disciplined' himself by becoming a vegetarian and 'went on' to become the most horrible war criminal in history. He eventually did get married - on the day he and his bride killed themselves.
