Where did you get the idea that you know anything about Australia? That Australia have universal healthcare system and some stronger laws in other areas than some other countries does not make it a Socialist country akin to the USSR.
State paternalism has played a central role in Australian society since before Federation. This is an extention of this historical factor, not a prelude to the 'Union of Australasian Socialist States' as some insecure right wing ranters would have us all believe. Besides, will this list make much of a difference? It is already extremely hard to police, and any new powers in regards to internet censorship, no matter how sweeping will be invariably difficult to police.

Australia is not a democratic society, wherever did you get that idea?
And things like this goes to show how a socialist society can easily change to a dictatorship.

This is the Trojan horse explanation the censors always use when they want to censor the Internet. The reality is they want to block politically incorrect sites that may be anti-democratic, anti-equalitarian, anti-semetic, anti-immigration, anti-Big Brother, anti-New World Order, etc. Anything site that might offer information to the public that interferes with the machinations of the powers that be.
Certain groups have been trying to find ways to censor the Internet for over a decade without it looking like it is the censorship it is. The easiest appeal is to claim the censorship is to protect children. In reality, these are the very same people who try to sexualize as early as possible through the media and advertising.
If they were just censoring porn sites, they wouldn't be afraid to release the full list of who they actually want to ban from the Internet.

Must have been a picture of a drill entering a cavity.

We have to stop these decadent dental sites.

I understand a lot of sites are child porn sites, but filters also block a lot of good stuff, too. < :-)
