And yet in some countries there is a shortage of legal pure morphine for legitimate medical control of pain; maybe the whole distribution network should be re-examined, and some of the illegal sales re-directed to legal purchase for medical use.

So many better things at home that those tens of millions of dollars could be going towards. Such as stopping the flow of illegal drugs into America, instead of worrying about Europe, Russia, and Iran. Let them pay for their own vices.

I think the "Crusades" are less in the U.S. policy interests and I think they are not very helpful to the world. But at least you have identified that some peoples goals are based on a morality of vice and would like to base major security issues of terrorism on vice morality notions.

America has been fighting wars on two fronts. I don't take drugs or drink alcohol but I would prefer our resources be used to stop terrorism and not opium eradication. Sorry if I can't help but come to the conclusion that fighting drug wars is only so far removed from fighting wars to promote a faith. I think it would have been much wiser to have the drug lords on our side of the action and not an opposing force. But that is just the logical strategy that my experience in the military has led me to believe. I think many people might be appalled by the choices military intelligence officials would find acceptable to win a conflict. But many of those same people have not accepted the reality of war. It's a dirty business. It was never meant to be directed by a group of Priests and Ministers. The lack of permanent progress in Afghanistan has brought shame to America. We have devoted far too few resources to Afghanistan and now all these years later we have not made ample progress. We made a vow when terrorists took action on American soil on 09.11.2001. I think that vow should have taken priority. All these patriots on JT accept all these extraneous missions. We have been sidetracked from the actual mission of our nation's security.
