Pakistani soldiers fired at the two U.S. helicopters prior to the attack, a move the investigation team said was likely meant to notify the aircraft of their presence after they passed into Pakistani airspace several times.

Hell of a way to let some know your presence, shoot at them.

Then they get killed?? Well if you are an idiot, like these Pakistani soldiers were, of course you will get killed sooner or later.

If they knew they were American helicopters, they could have stood up and waved and gone about their business. Shooting at them got them what they deserved.

The only helis around there are Pakistani or NATO. No Taliban choppers, I would guess.

America had just had a series of official warnings about border intrusions. In this case they do not have a leg to stand on, even if they were fired upon first. The only question is why the apology took so long in coming.

Yes, we understand the whole thing about terrorists, and bravo. We are fighting them ourselves. But you ignored our public warnings, and your pilots can sometimes get too darned trigger-happy.

Now, what was it you were requesting about the border gates?

Stupid Americans, they fell for the ruse. Pakistan now has a valid reason to deny access for supply routes, knee-capping the whole theater. They've given the Taliban time to regroup and recover. For the price of 3 grunts, they can save entire companies of terrorists on both sides of the border.

Read the news about intelligence reports which said that numerous Taliban commanders have claimed that Pakistan is pushing the terrorist forces in Afghanistan not to surrender and to keep fighting the Americans. It's a serious allegation and there appears to be some truth to their words!

@ jason6...yeah, right...stupid Americans....Maybe the stupid Americans will cut off Pakistan from all aid and assistance. If the Taliban keep fighting, more of them will die. It's not a bad thing...

Apologies become meaningless for people who are dead.

Most people don't realize this, but we are all immortal. Anyone who disagrees, ironically does so, because they believe they came from monkies, which if you think about doesn't make sense. But its not for me to waste my time arguing about it with people who think they are monkies.

Shoot first, ask questions later.

About time America has apologized for something they've done wrong....Never heard any apology about Vietnam....I guess they are still chasing the Commies...

They were returning fire, what do you expect them to do? The Pakistani soldiers really killed themselves, maybe it was the plan all along. Usually it is ok to defend oneself.

I love Yuri s comments! It is true, these idiot Pakistani soldiers really killed themselves. America needs to kill our enemies ASAP and not wait for another 9/11 terrorist attack as nandakanda thinks, we should just wait, cross our fingers and hope that all the fool terrorists around the world just give up and take basket weaving. No, I am sure they want our blood, our heads to put up on the internet as they scream out loud god is great, etc..

Words are cheap. US should pay some cash in compensation to the families.

Americans are still disillusioned about the real reasons for this war. USA is there to control the Afghan drug market. USA with it's financial collapse and bankruptcy it is more important than ever to find a new source of income from drug trade. Since the invasion the drug trade has flourished and US military personell and allies are now guarding and protecting opium fields and trade.

By invading Afghanistan, US gets the chance to build new military bases. They are not there to fight Al Qaeda or to fight Taleban. They are there because Afghanistan is in a geo politically strategic area where the pipeline will run through. Afghanistan is surrounded by oil rich nations in the north and west and lies between China and Russia.

The Taleban too is an exaggerated media creation. Most of these so-called fighters are for the most part local farmers who want to rid their land from occupier armies as they did in the 1980′s against the Russians.

USA with it's bankrupt economy is acting on the basis of self-survival. They rule tyrannically and as despots, that is why they have already lost this war just as in Iraq and Afghanistan and where ever they set foot.

Right. Da pipeline! They will use slave labor to build it. The Taliban, who blow up schools and hospitals, will let it stand, even though it will traverse the length of that God-forsaken country.

Europe buys most of Afghanistan's drugs. Europe supports terror.
