They dump on our healthcare, but flee their wown and deeply enjoy our capitalist system.

No they don't.

A minuscule percentage of their population moves to the US. Roughly 2% of the population of Canada are Canadians living in America (783,000 vs 37.59 million). 98% of them don't 'flee' their own, they stay in theirs, and enjoy their own socialist democratic system. And if you've ever been a non-American living in Canada (I have), you know that very few of them express any interest in living in America whatsoever.

Keeping it safe....

Who wants to attack Canada? That's daft.

we also gave thousands of them jobs in the arts, television, movies, music.

Those are jobs in your country. That's not helping Canada, that's siphoning off their talent for your own benefit.

I disagree we are an ally

No, America has clearly shown in the past few years that Canada is just another country, same as all the rest. A week ago Trump was poised to arm the border. Now he's blocking medical supplies. This is not something allies do.

I seriously doubt that Canada (were they in the exact same peril position) with as many deaths as we are now having in the States would just hand over masks to help us when their own people desperately need them.

Then you clearly don't understand Canadians. They would share, because that's what they do.

Does anyone know how many Canadians have lost their healthcare coverage since the pandemic began?

Healthcare is free in Canada. People don't lose it for losing their jobs.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has noted Canada supplies the U.S. with many supplies, including pulp for surgical-grade N95 masks, test kits and gloves. Canadian nurses also work in the U.S.

Canada is and for centuries has been the best neighbo(u)r any country could have.

Same goes for the U.S.

Honest question, what has the US ever done for Canada? I don’t know enough of the relations of the two countries to know the answer, so it’s not a loaded question. I’m honestly curious.

The US is most definitely not an ally of Canada now - they were ready to position troops at the Canadian border just last week - but have they ever been anything to the Canadians other than a neighbor that needs to be appeased?

Check my previous posts on that, already covered that and you will find the answers.

A mild 'but it wasn't really his fault', along with deflections to Gov Cuomo, some doctor and the D's

The Surgeon General was pushing at first not to wear masks? Also....

Do you think massive, uncontrolled human trials of medicine is equivalent to not wearing a mask?

If he didn’t, I would indeed excoriate him, but I don’t see it at all. I think he’s absolutely right.

He failed to protect Americans at the beginning by downplaying this and continues to fail Americans by push unproven drugs. However, you continue to sing his praise and try to deflect from his incompetence by attacking people not in his administration and not advising him.

Canada keeps itself save by not telling the world what to do. They, however, should be thankful for the entertainment industry jobs they wouldn’t enjoy without Uncle Sam.

I deeply fault the president for having downplayed the seriousness of this virus and continuing to contradict the experts, which is in no way protecting Americans.

Does anyone know how many Canadians have lost their healthcare coverage since the pandemic began? I recently read over 3,000,000 Americans have lost theirs. To be added to those who never had coverage. To be added to those who'll soon lose theirs.

A few Orcas?..

Those are jobs in your country. That's not helping Canada, that's siphoning off their talent for your own benefit.

Then they can stay, they don’t have to come, but they want to, if Canada WERE that great...

No, America has clearly shown in the past few years that Canada is just another country, same as all the rest. A week ago Trump was poised to arm the border. Now he's blocking medical supplies. This is not something allies do.

It is another country and I for one am Happy that the President chose to put Americans before taking care of other nations. .

Then you clearly don't understand Canadians.

I don’t really want to nor need to.

Until they move to the States, but still they love to involve themselves in US elections as if they were Americans, people like David Frum.

They, however, should be thankful for the entertainment industry jobs they wouldn’t enjoy without Uncle Sam.

Not a lot of people watch these shows anymore. But yes, they should be thankful to get a job in the US that pays well. They dump on our healthcare, but flee their own and deeply enjoy our capitalist system.

I deeply fault the president for having downplayed the seriousness of this virus and continuing to contradict the experts, which is in no way protecting Americans.

Duly noted, but I hope Canada finds a way to make masks for their citizens.

Love this article.

For many Canadians, our universal health care system is a source of national pride. But the head of a government-funded health care improvement organization says Canada’s system barely ranks above that of the U.S. and lags far behind systems in Europe, where taxpayers get more care for their money.

Yup...

That relationship goes both ways, look at how many Canadians became mega wealthy living in the States. This is a very different situation, we don’t have enough masks for our citizens, but we have have to send them to other nations. Imagine if Trump would’ve done that, we would never hear the end of it from Pelosi and Schumer.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Canada was there immediately following 9/11. Short memories

Not at all, but we have a shortage of masks, but we have to give it to our neighbor because they don’t have any over the millions in our nation that don’t have any? Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Like I said, had Trump sent Canada thousands of makelst, there is NO WAY the Democrats would have praises Trump for doing that. You think Pelosi, Schumer of Schiff would say, “Great job Mr. President?” No they would not have, you know it and I know it, he would have gotten so hammered and rightfully so had he’d done that. Canada has to find a way, they’re not a poor nation, let them become resourceful.
