In spite of the spin by this article’s author, this isn’t President Trump’s fault. The Democrats won’t give him the money he needs to take care of the border situation.
Norman Goodman
Bad enough that that evil business can ruin your career and legacy and even lose you friends, but at this point we cannot be surprised if someone gets shot over it. Most Americans are full of strong talk when it comes to protecting children, and the months of news about this horror going on proves how its mostly talk. But some people who actually care are boiling over. Trump is walking on dangerous ground and anyone following him in a position of responsibility for this is a fool.
Bintaro
I saw a video yesterday of a White House lawyer arguing in front of judges that it was not essential to provide these kids with soap and toothbrushes.
Remember that next time Republicans talk of "family values" or call themselves "the good guys" and the "greatest nation on Earth".
bass4funk
Wait a minute, none of this would happen if the Democrats would have went along with this President and rallied for strong border security instead of trying to block this President at every turn. It’s not the fault of the kids, but these people cannot think that we are a country that HAS to allow people to come in, if they so choose whenever they want. They need to follow the law and come in legally. These facilities were designed for 100 or less, not for a few thousand, so it’s not a surprise that they are all in squander and appalling conditions, it shouldn’t be, so if Democrats don’t like it, then do something, work with this President and come up with comprehensive immigration reform, ending any chain migration any permanent asylum seeking ending catch and release. If Democrats care about anything remotely close to family values they would support that.
Shep is an idiot, he knows full well, this has nothing to do with the President. I heard CNN is hiring, he should move there.
CrazyJoe
The Trump administration is over it’s head. Babies and children are being abused and neglected. I would feel better if Amnesty International came in to oversee the care of these innocent babies.
I hope no one will accept this job as long as trump is committed to maintaining inhumane conditions as an administration policy for deterrence.

Call immigrant detention centers what they really are: concentration camps

Obama had fewer come in and he deported more. Much more effective than Trump.
Toasted Heretic
It is immoral and disgusting. Kids are being caged, abused and some of them are dying.
How can anyone support this?
Norman Goodman
Are you sick or trolling? We are talking about little children here. Some of them can't even talk yet. They don't understand the law. Hell, most adults are not even clear on the law. So what is your idea? Punish small children with illness and death to teach the world a lesson?
Plenty, if not most of those kids were separated from their family at points of entry.
None of this would happen if ICE simply did nothing. None of this would happen if the Trump administration handled it correctly. None of this would happen if Congress had actual balls and decency, both being required in a case like this.
bass4funk
So what are the Democrats going to do about this? How will they come to their senses and start to push for heavy border security?
You are joking right?
Good, if more liberals think like you, this situation will continue.
bass4funk
They had the same problem, but the media chose to keep a quiet lid on it.
theFu
130,000 uninvited people show up at your door and demand to be fed, clothed, washed, medical attention, and somehow this is the fault of the US govt?
Unaccompanied minors cannot be released until there is someone to accept them. Would you have them walking around on the streets?
It isn't about compassion. It is about practical limitations.
Wayfair employees decided that shipping $200K in beds wasn't a good idea. Guess where the kids will be sleeping now? On the floor. Nice Wayfair. You have some of the blame.
Congress gets a bunch of the blame too for not solving the issues that encourage illegal immigration.
Trumps gets some of the blame for being too stupid to work with Congress to create a solution that removes the carrot so fewer immigrants will die attempting to cross the border illegally.
All the illegal immigrants already inside the USA get most of the blame for writing home, calling home, sending money home making the USA sound better than it really is. They think they are making their families not worry about them and the conditions for their work and homes, but they are encouraging people to come and potentially die. Nice.
theFu
of their idiot parents.
Norman Goodman
"It isn't about compassion. It is about practical limitations."
There seemed to be few when they were actively separating children from parents, and shipping them by jet to hundreds of miles away separately where now they need to be cared for by employees of the state.
Some of these people involved are so rich they make me look like a homeless bum. And they have access to government cash too. They can't get soap and toothbrushes for them? Forgive me if I downplay your plea to "practical limitations".
SuperLib
Under Obama fewer people entered and he deported more than Trump. He was just better at it.
Sneezy
The next steps are really very simple.
Abolish ICE, end the concentration camps at the US border, reunite families, prosecute everyone involved in the imprisonment, torture and murder of children.
bass4funk
When you have a media that keeps things quiet, so from the illusion, it would seem so. If the media were as quiet as by Obama and gave him as much love, we would have never known about this issue, that’s why he was better at it.
Sneezy
bass, even Trump said that Obama had deported more people than any President before him. Are you saying Trump lied to you?
bass4funk
So what should they do? Enlarge the detention centers so that they can accommodate 50,000? These facilities are not designed to hold thousands of people, we just don’t have the resources and if the Dems hate the current situation so much, then work with the President and come up with a proper immigration.
How are they doing that? They told the illegals to come by the thousands? They told them that if they come, they’ll be allowed to just wander and stay in this country or that we have to accept illegals? I don’t recall Republicans advocating for that, but if you can find it, I would appreciate it.
bass4funk
Why is it liberals never listen. Relax please...I never disputed Trump deported more illegals, I said, the situation was bad as well and the media didn’t cover the chaos back then or to an in-depth level as they are doing with this President otherwise, we would have known about how bad it was.
bass4funk
And the Democrats failed even longer
Yes, they are. They are not citizens, they were not born in this country.
No, but we can and the President can and now thankfully will.
No, I’m just a realist and refuse to be driven by emotion kids or not.
bass4funk
I worry about them a lot more and as American citizens I want them to have the highest priority over any non-citizens.
You’re not a conservative either.
I never said that either
Uhhhh...lol....not me.
Sneezy
Bass, 2:18pm:
Bass, 2:01pm:
Your outright denial of reality is bizarre. Now answer the question: did Trump lie to you?
Yes, you. You don't understand how English grammar works, you're incapable of gleaning the subject of a sentence, you don't understand American euphemisms, sayings or expressions, and - oh yeah! - you can't spell.
It's not a bad thing to struggle with English - most people in the world do! - but on an English language message board it is helpful to have more than a passing familiarity.
bass4funk
They are still illegal, fault or no fault of their own, they are not citizens.
That’s your definition, that’s not the definition of literally any other country including the US.
Yes, i am glad you pointed that out, you made my case for me, we have our own problems with hungry and disposed and neglected children, they should get first priority of any illegal that enters willingly or unwillingly into the US.
bass4funk
The feeling is mutual.
Ditto
.
bass4funk
And the Democrats despite haven’t done anything to curb illegal immigration or even stop it, stop the flow of illegals coming in, building a wall or barrier or anything impregnable to stop or at least bring the massive influx down, nothing on stopping chain migration, catch and release, ending birthright citizenship, arresting repeat offenders, blocking ICE from doing its job, many counties won’t allow the police to pull over, verify or arrest these people and allow to have them processed, some counties are now allowing illegals to drive and to vote, Democrats cannot say with a straight face they have done all they could to fix the immigration problem, they haven’t, in fact, they are the main reason for us being in this mess.
Sneezy
Scathing comeback.
Now answer the question.
Toasted Heretic
It's not one or the other, you do realise this? Anyway, yet another example of an important topic being derailed by some people failing to understand the wider spectrum of politics. And here's the thing - this is so far beyond what political leanings one has. This is children being treated worse than animals, dying, even.
These would be the same marginalised, poverty-stricken or homeless you regularly fail to comprehend why they haven't progressed in life like those born with silver spoons, connections and pleasant environments?
There's room to be compassionate and show humanity to all those less fortunate. They're not mutually exclusive.
bass4funk
Yup.
I don’t add the illegals.
I don’t like to see any child suffering, but I worry more about my countrymen, not the illegals, their families are the ones that made the choice and the Democrats refuse to do anything about and they have the nerve to cry outrage?! Give me a break!
Sneezy
We won't give you - or any Republican - a break. You are pro-concentration camp. Pro-child torture. Pro-child murder. It is disgusting. You ought to be ashamed.
bass4funk
I never said the Republicans were innocent, but don’t tell me that the Dems have their hands clean, they don’t, never did. We know the Dems care only about votes.
Actually, it really is.
Sorry, it has everything to do with politics, sad that liberals never want to acknowledge that realistic fact.
Sad, so I hope the Dems can work with this President and come up with a binding solution and not an executive order. It might cut the Dems lifeline, but oh, well, they need to ask themselves what is more important these illegal children or votes.
That doesn’t mean, I want my countrymen to starve, I am very compassionate. I want to help them and I want to teach them about self-reliance and to never depend on big government.
Toasted Heretic
It's about human decency, human rights and not treating them like animals. Nothing to do with one's political leanings. As for liberals - there's a big, wide spectrum of political views, not just liberal/conservative, must this be pointed out to you ad infinitum?
If the capitalist system is against the weak and marginalised from the start, just how will that work? The rich make profit and the poor suffer - it cannot continue as it is.
bass4funk
And Trump won’t give the Democrats a break, the clock is ticking, what will they do?
in 14 days, the deportation raids will begin.
Even that loser DeBlasio thinks making that kind of a comparison is ludicrous....we’re tasking about one of the worst mayors in NYC since Dinkin’s and he doesn’t believe that. No one is being tortured, forced to work or sent to a final solution, no one believes that.
No, I’m not, as I said, I’m against all of this, I want to save the kids, but it should done legislatively and the kids and their families should be sent back. As I said, I worry, but I worry more about American children.
bass4funk
I have outlined that so many times...good grief!
Yes.
Again, the Democrats didn’t bring anything that even remotely solves the problem as in comprehensive immigration reform and putting a bandage won’t fix that. So it’s back to the drawing board for the Democrats. Again as the NYT reported, the Democrats worry more about giving Trump a win than actually solving this problem. Now that is sad, disgusting and repugnant.
bass4funk
Don’t give me that, if that were true, the Democrats would have helped Trump on this since he became President and States like California and New York wouldn’t be the growing third world of the nation with its massive illegal population and sanctuary cities.
Ok, you can believe that garbage, I don’t, not for a second, I know it has everything to do with politics.
But it will and the only way to break those chains of government dependency which is the cancer that needs to be rooted out.
Sneezy
Yes they are.
None of these are required for it to be a concentration camp. Which is what they are. And you are in favor of them.
bass doesn't like black politician shocker.
No you don't. Earlier, you said:
You think it's good for this to continue. You think it's good for children to be denied their human rights. You think it's good for them to get sick and die in concentration camps. "Good". Your word, not mine. You are a disgrace to the US.
Toasted Heretic
What exactly is garbage?
Compassion and human rights transcend politics.
Or, if you are referring to my pointing out that there are more than just liberal/conservative voices, perhaps you need to take a closer look at the spectrum, rather than just label everyone as one or the other.
In the meantime, children are dying.
Toasted Heretic
I imagine this is an example of those chains of government dependency being broken. That's how capitalism essentially works, making profit out of the misery of others.
bass4funk
Really? So Give straight details of how they are being tortured like in the Nazi concentration camps.
They are not concentration camps, I know the talking points on the liberal media keeps trying to pound that in, but again, if you see the forced labor and ovens, I will agree with you, but a kid sitting in filth is far from it, they are not slaves meant for one single purpose. Again, no one outside of reality believes that.
I Love Larry Elder, Kevin Jackson, Allan West, Colin Powell, Ben Carson, Roy Innes.
So much for that fabrication...
.
No, I want it to stop, but apparently the Democrats don’t care, they just are afraid of giving Trump a win. This was from the pages of the NYT not mine, but everyone knows this, so do they care about these kids? Time will tell.
I don’t think it’s good for any parent to bring their kids to ANY foreign country without weighing the risks of the country they are trying to get in.
You think it’s good that the Democrats don’t help this President on the border issue. Some liberals claim it’s not about politics, if that is the case then they could put an end to this, but the Democrats won’t.
Not me, sorry, I care about my country.
bass4funk
I think that it should, but sadly it doesn’t.
But generally speaking the two largest voices on the planet are liberal and conservative and everything else falls between the cracks.
Again, let’s see what the Democrats will do so that all of this can stop. Either way this is not looking good for them for 2020.
