In spite of the spin by this article’s author, this isn’t President Trump’s fault. The Democrats won’t give him the money he needs to take care of the border situation.

Bad enough that that evil business can ruin your career and legacy and even lose you friends, but at this point we cannot be surprised if someone gets shot over it. Most Americans are full of strong talk when it comes to protecting children, and the months of news about this horror going on proves how its mostly talk. But some people who actually care are boiling over. Trump is walking on dangerous ground and anyone following him in a position of responsibility for this is a fool.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

"cla68",

then how about this article (I know some of those folks out there will call it again "fake press", but in my opinion, that's really what it looks like!!):

https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/melania-trump-be-best-twitter-reax-073718936.html

Where has humanity, where has dignity gone with this president? Guess he doesn't even know the meaning of these words.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

The inhuman treatment of the detained children, some as young as two can only be described has barbaric and a shameful disgrace against the country. There are no justifications to allow this to happen. Some have been in detention for a year without understanding what has happened to them.

All of the children are victims.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

I saw a video yesterday of a White House lawyer arguing in front of judges that it was not essential to provide these kids with soap and toothbrushes.

Remember that next time Republicans talk of "family values" or call themselves "the good guys" and the "greatest nation on Earth".

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Fox's Shep Smith torches Trump with "we treat migrant children worse than prisoners of war". Withholding toothbrushes and soap would be a violation of the Geneva Convention.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

"Blacklabel",

wrong answer (once again, I guess).

How about this:

https://shareblue.com/trump-team-jailed-kids-no-soap-toothbrush/

To make it short, just one sentence (quoted): "Trump's lawyer disagreed, claiming kids detained by the federal government may not need those things depending on the length of their stay."

But, yup, you're right, it wasn't a White House lawyer, but even worse, Trump's lawyer!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Oh, and maybe it would help to "google" or "yahoo for this:

Flores Settlement Agreement’.

Another agreement broken by deDonnie and his administration, guess!

Wait a minute, none of this would happen if the Democrats would have went along with this President and rallied for strong border security instead of trying to block this President at every turn. It’s not the fault of the kids, but these people cannot think that we are a country that HAS to allow people to come in, if they so choose whenever they want. They need to follow the law and come in legally. These facilities were designed for 100 or less, not for a few thousand, so it’s not a surprise that they are all in squander and appalling conditions, it shouldn’t be, so if Democrats don’t like it, then do something, work with this President and come up with comprehensive immigration reform, ending any chain migration any permanent asylum seeking ending catch and release. If Democrats care about anything remotely close to family values they would support that.

Fox's Shep Smith torches Trump with "we treat migrant children worse than prisoners of war". Withholding toothbrushes and soap would be a violation of the Geneva Convention.

Shep is an idiot, he knows full well, this has nothing to do with the President. I heard CNN is hiring, he should move there.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

The Trump administration is over it’s head. Babies and children are being abused and neglected. I would feel better if Amnesty International came in to oversee the care of these innocent babies.

I hope no one will accept this job as long as trump is committed to maintaining inhumane conditions as an administration policy for deterrence.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Wait a minute, none of this would happen if the Democrats would have went along with this President and rallied for strong border security instead of trying to block this President at every turn.

And what happened when the republicans were in control of the house-nothing actually.

Shep is an idiot, he knows full well, this has nothing to do with the President. I heard CNN is hiring, he should move there.

His statement is 100% correct, go to the back of the class and repeat after me.....

Really, there can't be a single real excuse form any side of the isle why this was allowed to happen. It's a national disgrace.

Call immigrant detention centers what they really are: concentration camps

https://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-katz-immigrant-concentration-camps-20190609-story.html

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Obama had fewer come in and he deported more. Much more effective than Trump.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

It is immoral and disgusting. Kids are being caged, abused and some of them are dying.

How can anyone support this?

6 ( +9 / -3 )

"They need to follow the law and come in legally."

Are you sick or trolling? We are talking about little children here. Some of them can't even talk yet. They don't understand the law. Hell, most adults are not even clear on the law. So what is your idea? Punish small children with illness and death to teach the world a lesson?

Wait a minute, none of this would happen if the Democrats would have went along with this President and rallied for strong border security

Plenty, if not most of those kids were separated from their family at points of entry.

None of this would happen if ICE simply did nothing. None of this would happen if the Trump administration handled it correctly. None of this would happen if Congress had actual balls and decency, both being required in a case like this.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Many of these children were detained and separated from their families when the congress was still controlled by the republicans.

So first try to blame the victims, the children and five of them are dead. When that does not work blame the democrats.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The Trump administration is over it’s head. Babies and children are being abused and neglected.

So what are the Democrats going to do about this? How will they come to their senses and start to push for heavy border security?

I would feel better if Amnesty International came in to oversee the care of these innocent babies.

You are joking right?

I hope no one will accept this job as long as trump is committed to maintaining inhumane conditions as an administration policy for deterrence.

Good, if more liberals think like you, this situation will continue.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Obama had fewer come in and he deported more. Much more effective than Trump

They had the same problem, but the media chose to keep a quiet lid on it.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

130,000 uninvited people show up at your door and demand to be fed, clothed, washed, medical attention, and somehow this is the fault of the US govt?

Unaccompanied minors cannot be released until there is someone to accept them. Would you have them walking around on the streets?

It isn't about compassion. It is about practical limitations.

Wayfair employees decided that shipping $200K in beds wasn't a good idea. Guess where the kids will be sleeping now? On the floor. Nice Wayfair. You have some of the blame.

Congress gets a bunch of the blame too for not solving the issues that encourage illegal immigration.

Trumps gets some of the blame for being too stupid to work with Congress to create a solution that removes the carrot so fewer immigrants will die attempting to cross the border illegally.

All the illegal immigrants already inside the USA get most of the blame for writing home, calling home, sending money home making the USA sound better than it really is. They think they are making their families not worry about them and the conditions for their work and homes, but they are encouraging people to come and potentially die. Nice.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

All of the children are victims.

of their idiot parents.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

All the children are victims. It stops there. They are innocent of everything. Some as young as 2 years. They haven't committed any crimes.

If they were animals treated with the same unhealthy dangerous conditions and five are dead, there would be a national outcry.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

It does not matter about blame or politics, or the politics of blame.

What matters is that something must be done urgently today to change the situation of these desperate little children.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

"It isn't about compassion. It is about practical limitations."

There seemed to be few when they were actively separating children from parents, and shipping them by jet to hundreds of miles away separately where now they need to be cared for by employees of the state.

Some of these people involved are so rich they make me look like a homeless bum. And they have access to government cash too. They can't get soap and toothbrushes for them? Forgive me if I downplay your plea to "practical limitations".

3 ( +3 / -0 )

bass4funk: They had the same problem, but the media chose to keep a quiet lid on it.

Under Obama fewer people entered and he deported more than Trump. He was just better at it.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The next steps are really very simple.

Abolish ICE, end the concentration camps at the US border, reunite families, prosecute everyone involved in the imprisonment, torture and murder of children.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Under the terms of US law — and especially the 1997 Flores settlement, which governs the treatment of children in immigration custody — immigration agents are obligated to get unaccompanied children out of immigration detention as quickly as possible, and to keep them in the least restrictive conditions possible while they’re there. Barring emergencies, children aren’t supposed to be in Border Patrol custody for more than 72 hours before being sent to HHS

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The Trump admin is paying $775 per child per day to keep them locked in inhuman conditions.

Even more criminal and don't seem to cover the costs of diapers, toothpaste soaps, proper beds.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Under Obama fewer people entered and he deported more than Trump. He was just better at it.

When you have a media that keeps things quiet, so from the illusion, it would seem so. If the media were as quiet as by Obama and gave him as much love, we would have never known about this issue, that’s why he was better at it.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

bass, even Trump said that Obama had deported more people than any President before him. Are you saying Trump lied to you?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump isn't matching Obama deportation numbers

https://www.axios.com/immigration-ice-deportation-trump-obama-a72a0a44-540d-46bc-a671-cd65cf72f4b1.html

Trump needs massive migrant problems to justify building his wall.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Republicans always whine about government waste and misusing taxpayer money. Here, private companies are stealing tens of thousands of dollars EVERY DAY from tax payers to do almost nothing... but they think it's fine,

So what should they do? Enlarge the detention centers so that they can accommodate 50,000? These facilities are not designed to hold thousands of people, we just don’t have the resources and if the Dems hate the current situation so much, then work with the President and come up with a proper immigration.

because they're torturing foreign children. Despicable.

How are they doing that? They told the illegals to come by the thousands? They told them that if they come, they’ll be allowed to just wander and stay in this country or that we have to accept illegals? I don’t recall Republicans advocating for that, but if you can find it, I would appreciate it.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

even Trump said that Obama had deported more people than any President before him. Are you saying Trump lied to you?

Why is it liberals never listen. Relax please...I never disputed Trump deported more illegals, I said, the situation was bad as well and the media didn’t cover the chaos back then or to an in-depth level as they are doing with this President otherwise, we would have known about how bad it was.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

and come up with a proper immigration.

The Republican Party have failed to do that for years.

The children are not illegals because they are all too young to be guilty of a crime. They don't have a choose of what was happening in their lives. They are not adults. Your thinking is seriously warped on the issue of children.

There are more than 400,000 America orphans in homes. The numbers of detained children is less than 5,000.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I never disputed Trump deported more illegals

But he hasn't

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The Republican Party have failed to do that for years.

And the Democrats failed even longer

The children are not illegals

Yes, they are. They are not citizens, they were not born in this country.

They don't have a choose of what was happening in their lives.

No, but we can and the President can and now thankfully will.

Your thinking is seriously warped on the issue of children.

No, I’m just a realist and refuse to be driven by emotion kids or not.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

There are more than 400,000 America orphans in homes.

I worry about them a lot more and as American citizens I want them to have the highest priority over any non-citizens.

I'm not a liberal,

You’re not a conservative either.

and I never said Trump deported more people.

I never said that either

I know you have trouble with English,

Uhhhh...lol....not me.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

I never said that either

but you did

bass4funkToday  02:01 pm JST

Why is it liberals never listen. Relax please...I never disputed Trump deported more illegals, I

The children if illegals then would be criminals. Since they are too young to be criminals then they can't be illegals. They are not citizens.

You said it was too difficult and lack of resources to care basic care of the children so I pointed out to you 400,000 orphans are taken care of every day.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Bass, 2:18pm:

and I never said Trump deported more people.

I never said that either

Bass, 2:01pm:

Relax please...I never disputed Trump deported more illegals

Your outright denial of reality is bizarre. Now answer the question: did Trump lie to you?

I know you have trouble with English,

Uhhhh...lol....not me.

Yes, you. You don't understand how English grammar works, you're incapable of gleaning the subject of a sentence, you don't understand American euphemisms, sayings or expressions, and - oh yeah! - you can't spell.

It's not a bad thing to struggle with English - most people in the world do! - but on an English language message board it is helpful to have more than a passing familiarity.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

And the Democrats failed even longer

Since the year 200o, the republican have ruled the senate for 8 years and the house of representatives 7 years. The democrats ruled the senate for 4 years and the house of representatives for 3 years.

Totals. Republicans 15 years. Democrats 7 years.

And still the republicans failed.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The children if illegals then would be criminals.

They are still illegal, fault or no fault of their own, they are not citizens.

Since they are too young to be criminals then they can't be illegals.

That’s your definition, that’s not the definition of literally any other country including the US.

You said it was too difficult and lack of resources to care basic care of the children so I pointed out to you 400,000 orphans are taken care of every day.

Yes, i am glad you pointed that out, you made my case for me, we have our own problems with hungry and disposed and neglected children, they should get first priority of any illegal that enters willingly or unwillingly into the US.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Your outright denial of reality is bizarre.

The feeling is mutual.

Yes, you. You don't understand how English grammar works, you're incapable of gleaning the subject of a sentence, you don't understand American euphemisms, sayings or expressions, and - oh yeah! - you can't spell.

Ditto

.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Since the year 200o, the republican have ruled the senate for 8 years and the house of representatives 7 years. The democrats ruled the senate for 4 years and the house of representatives for 3 years.

Totals. Republicans 15 years. Democrats 7 years.

And still the republicans failed.

And the Democrats despite haven’t done anything to curb illegal immigration or even stop it, stop the flow of illegals coming in, building a wall or barrier or anything impregnable to stop or at least bring the massive influx down, nothing on stopping chain migration, catch and release, ending birthright citizenship, arresting repeat offenders, blocking ICE from doing its job, many counties won’t allow the police to pull over, verify or arrest these people and allow to have them processed, some counties are now allowing illegals to drive and to vote, Democrats cannot say with a straight face they have done all they could to fix the immigration problem, they haven’t, in fact, they are the main reason for us being in this mess.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Scathing comeback.

Now answer the question.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Yes, i am glad you pointed that out, you made my case for me, we have our own problems with hungry and disposed and neglected children, they should get first priority of any illegal that enters willingly or unwillingly into the US.

So when you add together, the prison and orphan population, there are three million displaced Americans.

30,000 orphans every year reaching adult age without adoption.

So I guess you couldn't care less about the treatment of all children in detention.

I didn't realise that under the Trump presidency the country had become so poor it can't provide the basic needs for these children. So what I read about less poverty, less food stamps, less unemployment are all fake news.

I have an idea. How about Trump taking a few million of the Pentagon money and using it to take care of the kids.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

And the Democrats despite haven’t done anything to curb illegal immigration or even stop it,

Well considering the republican have been in power for twice as many years as the democrats since 2000 what did the republicans actually do?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

You’re not a conservative either.

It's not one or the other, you do realise this? Anyway, yet another example of an important topic being derailed by some people failing to understand the wider spectrum of politics. And here's the thing - this is so far beyond what political leanings one has. This is children being treated worse than animals, dying, even.

we have our own problems with hungry and disposed and neglected children, they should get first priority of any illegal that enters willingly or unwillingly into the US.

These would be the same marginalised, poverty-stricken or homeless you regularly fail to comprehend why they haven't progressed in life like those born with silver spoons, connections and pleasant environments?

There's room to be compassionate and show humanity to all those less fortunate. They're not mutually exclusive.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Over 100 children have been returned to the Texas center because of the lack of bed space and lack of funding at other centers. The chaos has paralyzed Washington. The House will vote on a $4.5 billion emergency funding bill which would appropriate $935.5 million for "processing facilities, food, water, sanitary items, blankets, medical services, safe transport.

Trump has even threatened to VETO the bill.

Those children will continue to suffer physically, mentally and psychologically. Some will grow up hating the country which hurt them so much.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Scathing comeback

Yup.

So when you add together,

I don’t add the illegals.

the prison and orphan population, there are three million displaced Americans.

30,000 orphans every year reaching adult age without adoption.

lol So I guess you couldn't care less about the treatment of all children in detention.

I don’t like to see any child suffering, but I worry more about my countrymen, not the illegals, their families are the ones that made the choice and the Democrats refuse to do anything about and they have the nerve to cry outrage?! Give me a break!

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

We won't give you - or any Republican - a break. You are pro-concentration camp. Pro-child torture. Pro-child murder. It is disgusting. You ought to be ashamed.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Well considering the republican have been in power for twice as many years as the democrats since 2000 what did the republicans actually do?

I never said the Republicans were innocent, but don’t tell me that the Dems have their hands clean, they don’t, never did. We know the Dems care only about votes.

It's not one or the other,

Actually, it really is.

yet another example of an important topic being derailed by some people failing to understand the wider spectrum of politics. And here's the thing - this is so far beyond what political leanings one has.

Sorry, it has everything to do with politics, sad that liberals never want to acknowledge that realistic fact.

This is children being treated worse than animals, dying, even.

Sad, so I hope the Dems can work with this President and come up with a binding solution and not an executive order. It might cut the Dems lifeline, but oh, well, they need to ask themselves what is more important these illegal children or votes.

These would be the same marginalised, poverty-stricken or homeless you regularly fail to comprehend why they haven't progressed in life like those born with silver spoons, connections and pleasant environments?

That doesn’t mean, I want my countrymen to starve, I am very compassionate. I want to help them and I want to teach them about self-reliance and to never depend on big government.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Democrats refuse to do anything about and they have the nerve to cry outrage?! Give me a break!

You didn't actually tell what the republican have achieved on migrants since 2000 and have held the power for the majority of the time.

The house wants to pass a $4.5 billion emergency bill but Trump might VETO it.

Seems like you have offered nothing except blame the democrats and even denied Obama deported more migrants than Trump. Suffering from heat. Please drink some water and take care. Typhoon tonight.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Sorry, it has everything to do with politics, sad that liberals never want to acknowledge that realistic fact.

It's about human decency, human rights and not treating them like animals. Nothing to do with one's political leanings. As for liberals - there's a big, wide spectrum of political views, not just liberal/conservative, must this be pointed out to you ad infinitum?

That doesn’t mean, I want my countrymen to starve, I am very compassionate. I want to help them and I want to teach them about self-reliance and to never depend on big government.

If the capitalist system is against the weak and marginalised from the start, just how will that work? The rich make profit and the poor suffer - it cannot continue as it is.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I never said the Republicans were innocent, but don’t tell me that the Dems have their hands clean, they don’t, never did. We know the Dems care only about votes.

I didn't mention what the democrats achieved. I don't support them or the republicans. They both only care about their own agendas.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

We won't give you - or any Republican - a break.

And Trump won’t give the Democrats a break, the clock is ticking, what will they do?

in 14 days, the deportation raids will begin.

You are pro-concentration camp.

Even that loser DeBlasio thinks making that kind of a comparison is ludicrous....we’re tasking about one of the worst mayors in NYC since Dinkin’s and he doesn’t believe that. No one is being tortured, forced to work or sent to a final solution, no one believes that.

Pro-child torture. Pro-child murder. It is disgusting. You ought to be ashamed.

No, I’m not, as I said, I’m against all of this, I want to save the kids, but it should done legislatively and the kids and their families should be sent back. As I said, I worry, but I worry more about American children.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

You didn't actually tell what the republican have achieved on migrants since 2000 and have held the power for the majority of the time.

I have outlined that so many times...good grief!

The house wants to pass a $4.5 billion emergency bill but Trump might VETO it.

Yes.

Seems like you have offered nothing except blame the democrats and even denied Obama deported more migrants than Trump. Suffering from heat. Please drink some water and take care. Typhoon tonight.

Again, the Democrats didn’t bring anything that even remotely solves the problem as in comprehensive immigration reform and putting a bandage won’t fix that. So it’s back to the drawing board for the Democrats. Again as the NYT reported, the Democrats worry more about giving Trump a win than actually solving this problem. Now that is sad, disgusting and repugnant.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

It's about human decency,

Don’t give me that, if that were true, the Democrats would have helped Trump on this since he became President and States like California and New York wouldn’t be the growing third world of the nation with its massive illegal population and sanctuary cities.

human rights and not treating them like animals. Nothing to do with one's political leanings. As for liberals - there's a big, wide spectrum of political views, not just liberal/conservative, must this be pointed out to you ad infinitum?

Ok, you can believe that garbage, I don’t, not for a second, I know it has everything to do with politics.

If the capitalist system is against the weak and marginalised from the start, just how will that work? The rich make profit and the poor suffer - it cannot continue as it is.

But it will and the only way to break those chains of government dependency which is the cancer that needs to be rooted out.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

No one is being tortured

Yes they are.

forced to work or sent to a final solution, no one believes that.

None of these are required for it to be a concentration camp. Which is what they are. And you are in favor of them.

we’re tasking about one of the worst mayors in NYC since Dinkin’s

bass doesn't like black politician shocker.

I’m against all of this, I want to save the kids,

No you don't. Earlier, you said:

Good, if more liberals think like you, this situation will continue.

You think it's good for this to continue. You think it's good for children to be denied their human rights. You think it's good for them to get sick and die in concentration camps. "Good". Your word, not mine. You are a disgrace to the US.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Ok, you can believe that garbage, I don’t, not for a second, I know it has everything to do with politics.

What exactly is garbage?

Compassion and human rights transcend politics.

Or, if you are referring to my pointing out that there are more than just liberal/conservative voices, perhaps you need to take a closer look at the spectrum, rather than just label everyone as one or the other.

In the meantime, children are dying.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

At $700 per child per day, someone is getting very rich from this very tragic episode of America.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

At $700 per child per day, someone is getting very rich from this very tragic episode of America.

I imagine this is an example of those chains of government dependency being broken. That's how capitalism essentially works, making profit out of the misery of others.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Yes they are.

Really? So Give straight details of how they are being tortured like in the Nazi concentration camps.

None of these are required for it to be a concentration camp. Which is what they are. And you are in favor of them.

They are not concentration camps, I know the talking points on the liberal media keeps trying to pound that in, but again, if you see the forced labor and ovens, I will agree with you, but a kid sitting in filth is far from it, they are not slaves meant for one single purpose. Again, no one outside of reality believes that.

bass doesn't like black politician shocker.

I Love Larry Elder, Kevin Jackson, Allan West, Colin Powell, Ben Carson, Roy Innes.

So much for that fabrication...

.

You think it's good for this to continue.

No, I want it to stop, but apparently the Democrats don’t care, they just are afraid of giving Trump a win. This was from the pages of the NYT not mine, but everyone knows this, so do they care about these kids? Time will tell.

You think it's good for children to be denied their human rights.

I don’t think it’s good for any parent to bring their kids to ANY foreign country without weighing the risks of the country they are trying to get in.

You think it's good for them to get sick and die in concentration camps.

You think it’s good that the Democrats don’t help this President on the border issue. Some liberals claim it’s not about politics, if that is the case then they could put an end to this, but the Democrats won’t.

"Good". Your word, not mine. You are a disgrace to the US.

Not me, sorry, I care about my country.

Compassion and human rights transcend politics.

I think that it should, but sadly it doesn’t.

Or, if you are referring to my pointing out that there are more than just liberal/conservative voices, perhaps you need to take a closer look at the spectrum, rather than just label everyone as one or the other.

But generally speaking the two largest voices on the planet are liberal and conservative and everything else falls between the cracks.

In the meantime, children are dying.

Again, let’s see what the Democrats will do so that all of this can stop. Either way this is not looking good for them for 2020.
