Have the inauguration tomorrow - get Biden and his team of experts in to run the show and start saving lives....

Trump has given up - other than golfing, all he does is walk around the White House in a daze and tweet kooky "its rigged" messages...

While no country was prepared for Covid19 and we all suffered losses, had the US been run by a President who didn't call the Coronavirus a "hoax" and politicized it, I am sure the US would not have been the world leader in cases and deaths.

There are at least another 100,000 more deaths predicted before everyone is vaccinated.

The total will equal the number of Americans killed in WWII.

Now add the 100,000 deaths have been undercounted.

Just staggering numbers. Hard to wrap your head around it.

The Washington Post had a fascinating article about Operation Warp Speed. Apparently Pfizer gambled on a new technology that some thought was too risky to spend time on. In the end, it paid off and they hit the bullseye.

"Pfizer and Moderna gambled on a promising but unproved technology that relied on messenger RNA, spurring criticism for taking that approach at a time when a vaccine was desperately needed.

In one meeting in late April, Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus task force coordinator, expressed frustration that the leading vaccine candidates were not relying on tried-and-true technologies, according to four current and former senior administration officials."

Without that gamble we'd still be searching for a vaccine.

What a suprise that the numbers are being reported to go up just as a vaccine rolls out.

The idea that numbers would go up in the cooler weather, an idea shared by every expert in the field I’ve read, cuts no ice with you, eh?

“To think now we can just absorb in our country 3,000 deaths a day as though it were just business as usual, it just represents a moral failing,"

'A moral failing'. One more epithet for the Trump era. And the millions unable to reason beyond 'nobody can tell me to respect the health of other people'.

And not a peep about this from the wanna be president and his cult.

If US has 100,000 to 200,000 deaths, we’ve done a ‘good job’

Well?

Monty, even being vaccinated is not a guarantee, you will be infected

To those living in certain echo chambers everything they see or touch is tainted by conspiracy. But then a lot of them hang on every word of 2000 year old Middle Eastern fairy tales. STEM was never their strength in school it seems.

The failure of leadership in The States is unimaginable and shameful.

Looking at the comments, and the number of deaths from Covid-19 has already exceeded the number of combat deaths of the USA in World War II.

Over 300,000 dead, in excess of 3000 more dying every day and we still have people refusing to wear a face mask, social distance, avoid large gatherings, consider taking a vaccine and some even still stubbornly say the whole thing is a fraud. At the end of December rent and mortgage moratoriums end and there will be mass evictions and mass foreclosures. Tens of millions of people could be outdoors with no place to live on New Year's day.

The US is approaching the number of deaths experienced by Union soldiers in the Civil War.

Well, mRNA vaccines have been around for animals since about 1990. There have also been mRNA vaccines developed for some human diseases like rabies, Zika, CMV and even influenza but no commercial application of these yet.

On the discussion of mRNA technology, I too am one of those who had never heard of it, but my son-in-law tells me that his business has been relying on it for years, and that the business has made a lot of customers very happy.

Meanwhile, a sea change in Washington is fast approaching after an election that was, in large part, a referendum on the Trump administration’s handling of the virus. President-elect Joe Biden has made clear that his first priority will be a comprehensive and disciplined effort to defeat the outbreak.

I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the new approach.

Joe's speech a moment ago was a bit worrying though.  constant coughing and missing his words.  Hope the Rona doesn't get him before he gets it.......

20 million people could be immunized by month’s end.

Good to hear!

It is time to bring this pandemic to an end, so that people can again focus on important things in life.
