With or from? Distinguishing between them would alter the figures drastically.

And the deaths keep piling up under Biden, with the vaccine.

This pandemic extended for you by the “freedumb!” Caucus who cannot be bothered to wear a mask, won’t vaccinate and actually spread misinformation on proven safe and effective vaccines (there’s that phrase again! Why? Because it’s accurate and succinct.)

So, not quite 2 years in and in spite of an abundance of vaccine available at no cost out of pocket, we are averaging about 3 wide-body airliner crashes per day in deaths due to COVID (when you’re down to debating “due to” vs. “with”, you lose) the VAST Majority Of them unvaccinated.

"With or from? Distinguishing between them would alter the figures drastically."

The figures cannot be altered. They are dead. Only being vaccinated and behaving properly can stop more unnecessary deaths.

Think about it. Of course they're gone, but how many actually died of the disease, and how many died within 28 days of testing positive but of other causes? They're still marked as COVID deaths.

-11 ( +9 / -20 )

Its very tragic, my sympathy goes out to everyone who lost someone.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

So sad to see such toll. Behaving properly is important, vaccinated or not.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Here is the key sentence-

"The vast majority of the deaths have been among the unvaccinated."

Well, many died before vaccines were available... but I am sure that if one looks at the deaths carefully they would find that the vast majority of deaths were of people who were denied safe and effective early treatments.

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

And the deaths keep piling up under Biden, with the vaccine.

because the vast majority of unvaccinated are from red states along with the highest infection rate, 1 year after a safe effective vaccine available. The counties with the highest infection rates lowest vaccination rates are those that voted for Trump. Theyre now calling if Red covid

proven fact with the stats to back it up. strange how youll never get that info from FOX or other right wing conspiracy networks.

Readers, please leave politics out of this discussion.

“An enormous difference between America and Japan. 800,000 and 19,000. Why?”

@zichi. I think it’s people’s behavior.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

With or from? Distinguishing between them would alter the figures drastically.

Same with malnutrition, or immunodeficiency, or any other health problem that causes death as a main but indirect reason. If you take out for example deaths "with" malnutrition you get a much reduced figure, that of course do not mean the people stop dying, just that your invalid, artificial standard hides the problem.

Think about it. Of course they're gone, but how many actually died of the disease, and how many died within 28 days of testing positive but of other causes? They're still marked as COVID deaths.

If COVID is a well know cause that accelerate the death because of other reasons that is still perfectly valid, how many of the deaths do you think are completely unreleated to the infection?

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Not at all, people receive treatments that have been proved to be safe and effective as long as they have access to health services.

The treatments you keep trying to push (ivermectin and HCQ) are neither, so people are not worse by not being treated with demonstrately ineffective things, and they may even be better because they do not get the risks associated with those failed treatments.

... and obesity in the US, and probably higher vitamin D levels in Japan (higher fish consumption),....

And with a lot fewer people wearing masks, and with a lot more super spreader sports events, plus others, we will see a significant increase in the number of Flu cases, which are already starting to rise.

Look at all the freedom! Freedom to NOT wear a mask. Freedom to NOT get vaccinated. Freedom to choose oak, beech or pine.

3 ( +10 / -7 )

With or from? Distinguishing between them would alter the figures drastically.

It doesn’t matter. Data shows unvaccinated is 14 times more likely to die. That’s 14 out of 15 deaths from unvaccinated.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

we will see a significant increase in the number of Flu cases, which are already starting to rise.

That's really bad news, young kids are at a high risk of developing complications with flu.

Hoping those who say they are only against covid vaccines will get the flu vax at least

that data has not been updated since September. Wonder why?

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Zichi,

I get what you mean but comparing a percentage instead of numbers would be more accurate.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

the continuation of the deaths despite vaccinations at all time highs and continued mask wearing shows something else is needed to "shut down" the virus as was promised.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

The vast majority of the deaths have been among the unvaccinated.

According to official data, the risk of dying from COVID-19 was 14 times higher among people who had not been fully vaccinated, compared to those who had,

I hope no one among us has convinced even just one person to not get vaccinated deliberately.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

lol And what is that?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Daily average death rate from covid in the US is still 1200 per day. The total number will continue rise.

This is at minimum inaccurate. The NY TIMES updates it daily.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

The NY TIMES updates it daily.

Ok so in the NY Times today how many more times likely is an unvaccinated person to die from COVID than a vaccinated person?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Wonder why?

A lot of people have been using that phrase here recently. It usually means they have nothing to say so just suggest shadowy bogeyman instead.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Deflect and deny all you want, this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

There are 3 proven safe and effective vaccines available (effectiveness is waning under the new variant, but still very effective against severe illness.). These people just don’t take them.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Its like the 99% hospitalization of unvaccinated vs vaccinated. Then it was 95% then 90% then 84% now gone from the news. Same as this 14 to 1 thing that the article states has no new data/has not been updated since September.

Why? Because its not 14 to 1 anymore and the newer updated number would not suit the narrative.

A sports team had 10 of 15 people on the team get COVID. All double and triple vaxxed.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Around 450,000 of the deaths occurred in 2021

sure ruins the "but 2020" narrative doesnt it?

450 is more than half of 800, right?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Why? Because its not 14 to 1 anymore and the newer updated number would not suit the narrative.

What’s the new updated number then?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Lol Nope. Fully vaccinated people are still far, far less likely to be hospitalized or seriously ill than the un-vaccinated.

nothing in NY Times since September and even then it was down to 11 times already.

Unless someone has an actual link, lets go with 11 times and no update since then (per the article)

Unvaccinated Americans were 4.5 times more likely than vaccinated individuals to become infected with the coronavirus, and they were 10 times more likely to be hospitalized and 11 times more likely to die from it, according to one among a handful of studies highlighting the effectiveness of the shots.

So, you have nothing and are just going to imagine something to get upset about. Doesn’t seem like the best approach to me.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

If vaccinations are widely and continuously accepted in a population, at some point there will be more vaccinated who will be hospitalized and die if covid persists despite the vaccine.

Ideally the goal is all those who can be vaccinated will be vaccinated, at which point practically only the vaccinated will be infected

2 ( +4 / -2 )

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/11/world/the-cdc-reports-that-unvaccinated-americans-are-11-times-more-likely-to-die-if-infected-the-week-in-covid-news.html

right there. a link. from September.

According to official data, the risk of dying from COVID-19 was 14 times higher among people who had not been fully vaccinated, compared to those who had, in September, the latest month analyzed.

so even the article is wrong and there is no data since then. why not?

Do you not understand the difference between an article and a blog? Blogs are regularly updated. News stories typically are not, unless it is a breaking story and editors are adding or correcting information.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You tell me. You started this with your ominous “wonder why” statement.

Keep wondering and come back when you have something.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

so even the article is wrong and there is no data since then. why not?

Again this is false. It’s updated to October. Why not since THEN? Perhaps because the information is not yet calculated.

Russian inspired clap-trap

Nice word salad there.

But still no link, you said NYT reports this DAILY. so they dont actually?

No one was talking about Fox News or Redit by the way.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Nice word salad there.

Why is the onus on everyone else to provide sources?

Anti-vaxxers/maskers are so quick to trash the myriad links posted here, but never provide any of their own. Please, unshackle me from the shackles of ignorance, and tell me where I can get the real truth.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

the continuation of the deaths despite vaccinations at all time highs and continued mask wearing shows something else is needed to "shut down" the virus as was promised.

oh ok so what do the antivaxxers recommended,

no herd immunity isnt an option as the science clearly shows the death toll will be far higher than it currently is

4 ( +5 / -1 )

In USA - unlike Japan - many people have no medical insurance and treating themselves with cheap and useless drugs like cleaning fluids or veterinary drugs and even poisoning themselves with a huge overdose of vitamins but are refusing vaccination with strange conspiratorial arguments - and this - 800.000 deaths - is now the sad result.

In Japan, with only 1055 known covid19 patients today and with many provinces reporting new patients = zero, totally 18367 deaths since February 2020, a high vaccination rate and only 27 people in ICU, covid-19 is almost a part of the past.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

If America had the same death rate as Japan then the American deaths would be less than 57,000, not 800,000.

Zichi,

True.

They really messed up in that country.
