Saudi Arabia is an enemy not a friend. They have done everything possible to fan the flames of sectarian violence in the Middle East and their human rights record is among the worst in the world including spurious convictions on manufactured evidence and mass executions and treating their women like cattle along with medieval punishments for minor offenses by amputation and torture.

In addition they have helped arm and finance terrorists worldwide such as in 911 and radical Islamic groups such as ISIS, Al Qaeda, and Intifada.

"We urge the government of Saudi Arabia,

to continue buying weapons from US big war industries because big war industries are an essential part of the US economy. Pompeo and the other hawks and neo-cons in Trump's admin know the only thing Trump's got going for him and his regime is the solid economy he inherited from President Obama. If the economy weakens, Trump's even more vulnerable. If Trump's more vulnerable, so are the neo-cons. Trump and the neo-cons need the Saudis to continue buying weapons.

Trump and the neo-cons' ongoing support for big oil (and gas) and their opposition to alternatives to burning so much oil and gas keep the Saudis and other oil states powerful. And the big war industries rich and powerful.

Asked about the executions, the State Department said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has raised human rights with Saudi leaders in "every instance" when there were concerns.

He hasn't been every convincing then.

"We urge the government of Saudi Arabia, and all governments, to respect and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms, ensure fair trial guarantees, transparency, freedom from arbitrary and extrajudicial detention, and freedom of religion and belief," a State Department spokeswoman said.

That's a weak statement if I ever saw one.

Saudi Arabia?

Crucifixions, beheadings, stonings, amputations, executions of children and a leader that orders his enemies to be literally ripped apart!

Who would deal with such a callous barbaric retrograde society?

Well what do you expect? Crown prince ordered the chopping up of someone who hurt his feelings. Was there any cumupence.? A mere massacre with heads on stakes...that's totally medieval. What on earth can you do with people who order, participated in such acts. Buy their oil? Sell them weapons or as they call them fire sticks. Best to avoid these underdeveloped people.

The spending power associated with Saudi Arabian arms sales has in effect brought the silence of the present US administration.

The numbers are truly mind boggling

The beheading and then crucifixion of the headless body is monstrously barbaric. I understand one of the executed was just 16 years old at the time of his arrest.

When a states citizens have to flee to enjoy even basic human rights there is a problem. When that same state massacres its own citizens and proudly display heads on a pike, that's a decent into state endorsed evil.

But these are our "allies". Besides, the Saudis teach their children that shia muslims are heretics who must be killed, so why the surprise when their bloodthirsty dictators do just that?

Since when does the United States dictate what another country can do within their own justice/legal system?

Just look at the naiveté on display here.

You've been sleeping for the past 60 years ?

Since when the US doesn't dictate to other countries ?

Republicans, the people, are outraged by beheading too. Unfortunately, our representatives aren't showing it.

I'm not against the death penalty in all situations, but if you aren't a mass murderer, it shouldn't apply.

Pardon me zichi, I unintentionally echoed one of your comments.

Many past US presidents have been complicit and have aided Saudi Arabia, the richest dictatorship in the ME!

If President Trump were to voice opposition and jeopardize US arm sales then how would he end up?

Like jFK?

Trump isn’t as dumb at playing the game as many of you think......

Sure, just blame Trump and the U.S. for doing business with the Saudis, as China, Japan, India and S.Korea buy more oil from them than the U.S. does.

Iran? Isn't that the same country which your military navy shot down a commercial airliner killing all 272 on board?

Between 1982 and 1986, there were 36 suicide attacks in Lebanon directed against American, French and Israeli forces by 41 individuals, killing 659 Hezbollah denies involvement in some of these attacks, though it has been accused of being involved or linked to some or all of these attacks: Wiki

Since when does the United States dictate what another country can do within their own justice/legal system?

If this werent a potential political attack point, the same people here would be calling the USA arrogant and tell them to mind their own business and focus on their own country. No?

As did Iran with Hamas and Hezbollah and backing Assad, that doesn’t bother you?

Trump's got going for him and his regime is the solid economy he inherited from President Obama.

Absolutely not true.

If the economy weakens, Trump's even more vulnerable.

So far, it looks like it’s on full blast. So how can Democrats combat that? What do they propose? More regulations? More taxation? More robbing Paul to give to Peter?

If Trump's more vulnerable, so are the neo-cons. Trump and the neo-cons need the Saudis to continue buying weapons.

...and we need their oil as well.

Trump and the neo-cons' ongoing support for big oil (and gas) and their opposition to alternatives to burning so much oil and gas keep the Saudis and other oil states powerful. And the big war industries rich and powerful.

Yup, that’s why we need to become more energy dependent and we are on our way, but limiting cars or airplanes and changing building structures is not the answer.
