There is absolutely no reason to put an /american face on this. Let France take the lead, seeing as how they already jumped the gun, and officially recognized the rebel government. NATO is very capable of handling a "No Fly Zone" contingency, and it can be done with the air power of other NATO countries besides the U.S.

Obama, Clinton, and the "international community" are going to sit back and watch Gadhafi's slaughter from the comfort of their posh mansions and embassies.

LOL... Why were only Clinton's, and Obama's names used? Exactly what are they supposed to do?

If its fine for American forces to be slaughtering Iraqis and Afghans, why shouldn't Gadhafi not be allowed to do the same?

sabiwabi,

"If its fine for American forces to be slaughtering Iraqis and Afghans, why shouldn't Gadhafi not be allowed to do the same?" just like its fine for radical muslims and arabs to be slaughtering Jews, and anyone else they like.

If the US or western countries went into Libya you would cry foul and if they dont you complain WHAT DO YOU WANT?

Sabiwabi,

By the way your sweeping statement "If its fine for American forces to be slaughtering Iraqis and Afghans" you do realise that more Afghan civilians have been killed by the Taliban than by the US (NATO powers). And before you start with you MSM comments it came from Al Jazeera

AdamB,

"If the US or western countries went into Libya you would cry foul and if they dont you complain WHAT DO YOU WANT?"

Isn't that the truth. I think a lot of these people just want to have a poor excuse to piss and moan about the U.S.

US and Europe stay out of Libya because it is a civil war not a peaceful demontration. The previous monarchy was ousted by Gadhafi and these remaining monarchs are now trying to wrestle back their control..and yes by using violence. Egypt succeeded because the people peacefully and without fear fought for what they believe, Libya is another. Both sides hold machine guns, bombs, tanks, mortars and othe weapons of war and are busy killing each other.

@mikihouse

Well, to a certain extent. The Libyan forces loyal to Qaddafi do have air superiority as they are the only ones in the conflict with an air force. Fortunately for the rebels, their pilots have very poor aim. That is why the rebel forces have been asking for Western/Foreign air power.

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

I want the fighting to stop and for the Libyan people to benefit from the country's resources. The US has a very long history of bullying/bribing leaders to let them take the resources, with the general population getting shafted. The US (and friends) have never had a valid reason to attack and occupy Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sabi, last I checked the West isn't doing much of anything with Libya right now. Without the use of force that means there's a criticism vacuum that needs to be filled and it looks like the only way to do that is through conspiracy theories. Shouldn't you be getting to work right about now? You have no invasion to point to, gotta make something up, I suppose. I'll check back with you in a few days to see how you're doing.

I think you have the US confused with China. The US doesn't "take the resources", US companies pay a fair price for the resources and also build hospitals, schools and other infrastructure and provide various aid. China on the hand cuts deals with corrupt warlords in Africa, runs over people in the streets with their trucks, builds nothing for the people and provides no aid.

sabiwabi,

"I want the fighting to stop" Yet you continually support Iran which is linked to sponsoring terrorism that conducts attacks against civilians.

So what you are really saying is you want Arabs to stop fighting Arabs and concentrate on fighting US (West) and Israel isnt that what your really saying.

Oh my! Do you really believe that? Check out John Perkins' writings, you'll learn something.

@American Bengoshi

Have you ever wonder the term " banana republic " comes about ? If i am not mistaken, it's United Fruits " running " those S. American countries, controlling/buying their resources very very cheap............. those days are gone, but it happened.

Sabiwabi,

Just out of curiosity is this the same John Perkins' who was described as a "a vainglorious peddler of nonsense" and as for his books the following comments have been made "a lack of documentary or testimonial evidence to corroborate the claim".

Im not suggesting you read MSM but every author or journalist you quote is a conspiracy nutjob at best.

Libya is none of our business. Let them fight it out themselves.

Not sure which way to go on this. The US supported the Afghans to oust the Taliban after their proxy, bin Laden, attacked the US. Qaddafi has attacked the US twice and France at least once - all terrorist attacks sponsored by Qaddafi. Is that the same thing? I'm sure the US and EU would like to see Qaddafi gone. We'll see where the diplomats go with this one.

@americanbengoshi You are a typical american who is one sided an knows nothing about other countries.Just google and see the aid,roads,hospitals,schools,malls,dams etc Chima has given to many African countries over the past decade for the same resources the West has robbed many countries of in the name of capitalism.

Libyans will sort themselves out.when did the west become the gods on earth?

We aren't necessarily Gods, we just aren't quite as ass-backwards as the rest of the world.

Superlib The rest of the world is backwards?funny isn't it or should I say ethnocentric.The last time I checked many countries are doing well than most western countries .I will say the West is now backwards.Opem your eyes.Anyway you are enjoying and earning your daily bread in a backwards country,so why dont you leave.

@AdamB

Excellent rebuttal. I agree with you totally.

Fance should more concentrate on ousting Idriss Dembe in Chad. Oh wait...France controls the oil there so that dicktator is ok. This is the hypocrisy of the West. Will Germany also freeze BILLIONS of Bahrain's money? The MAJORITY Shia population is getting screwed there. Oh, but the US 5th Fleet is parked at Bahrain's port. More double speak.

What will happen to all these BILLION$ of Libyan dollar$ that has been frozen?? Who decides when to unfreeze them? What conditions must be met? This is sheer arrogance & manipulation! When will other countries FREEZE American assets for their illegal wars?? That would be a telling story.
