This GOP's response: What's racism?
lincolnman
Uh oh, better start packing your bags my friend - you just spoke the truth - that's not permitted in the Trump administration.....just ask Tillertson, McMaster, Cohn, Kelly, Mattis, Coats, etc....
Can't offend a majority of Donnie's base - you know, some of those "very fine people"....
SuperLib
But Tucker Carlson said it was all a hoax. Guess he was misinformed.
lincolnman
Sorry, no amount of 20 line contorted excuses is going to erase the fact that he said some Neo Nazis and White Supremacists are "very fine people" - its stuck to him like glue...
And the soon to depart DHS Chief speaks the truth...
Toasted Heretic
Good call. Unfortunately, the Trump base won't be having any of that. They will call it a hoax, and defend the racist PotUS to the hilt.
You can show them as much evidence as you like - the sick Birtherism movement, the support for neo nazis, his comments about Haiti and _hole countries etc.
It will be ignored, deflected or somehow blamed on the man's opponents.

This is a right wing bit of propaganda which was elegantly destroyed by YouTube's own Shaun:

Full stop. Period.
Bannon, Putin and other far right leaders know one of the best ways to further divide the long divided US is to ramp up racial tensions. Trump is doing more to divide than any politician since the 1950's when George Wallace, Orval Faubus and others used their political offices to push white supremacy. And some Trump supporters say 'we' (never defined) made amends'. Which faction of the US establishment stands to gain the most from Trump's divisions.

But what about humma humma...
Stuck, like in cement....

This is from Steve Cortes, and his Prager U video. It's a blatant lie. Trump's words were reported on by the media, and he only condemned Nazis and white nationalists after he was rebuked by his own party for specifically not condemning them days beforehand.
Finally, there were no fine people in the Unite the Right rally. Not one. It was advertised as a far-right rally, the speakers were all white nationalists or neo-Nazis, and they were all chanting "Jews will not replace us".
There were no fine people in that group.
lincolnman
My post contained an exact extract from the transcript - yours didn't.....
When asked by the reporter directly about Neo-Nazis, he said there were very fine people on both sides....
He tried to qualify that later, but that initial answer to that question on Neo Nazis still stands...
It will stick to him like cement...just like "grab 'em..."
Chip Star
Here’s where Trump is fundamentally wrong. He seems to think that the rally consisted of some neo-Nazis over here and some others over there who were simply there to protest the plans to move the Lee statue. That is simply not true. This was not some protest organized by history buffs who think that the statue should stay because that’s one way for us to understand the past. This was always an event organized by white nationalists.

Truth matters...
Reporter: "The neo-Nazis started this. They showed up in Charlottesville to protest --"
Trump: "Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves -- and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did.
Stuck like in cement....

You know, like those honest Trump associates that all lied under oath when brought in and asked about their meetings with Russians...
"Very fine people" is as stuck to Donnie as "grab 'em by the _____"...

The racist Proud Boys are getting ready to cause trouble in PDX:

President Trump in the exact same conversation without the selective cherry picking
“I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists because they should be condemned totally.”
bass4funk
Context does matter.
For any honest person, therefore, to conclude that the president somehow praised the very people he actually derided, reveals a blatant and blinding level of bias.

Tony Podesta lied as well, worked together with Manafort had and dealt with the same people and yet, he walks among us still. Also, let’s not forget: after the election, I’ll have more flexibility. So both Presidents are Russian agents I guess.

Wow you missed a part right in the URL.

This is the reason why no one believes the Democrats, the media and the reason why the Democrats won’t get the White House again, because of the continuous distortion of what the President said, but we get it, makes it sound better to distort the truth.
“Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. You had people in that group – excuse me, excuse me, I saw the same pictures you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.”
“I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists because they should be condemned totally.”
For any honest person, therefore, to conclude that the president somehow praised the very people he actually derided, reveals a blatant and blinding level of bias.
Nonetheless, countless so-called journalists have furthered this damnable lie. For example, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace responded that Trump had “given safe harbor to Nazis, to white supremacists.” Her NBC colleague Chuck Todd claimed Trump “gave me the wrong kind of chills. Honestly, I’m a bit shaken from what I just heard.” Not to be outdone, print also got in on the act, with the New York Times spewing the blatantly propagandist headline: “Trump Gives White Supremacists Unequivocal Boost.” How could the Times possibly reconcile that Trump, who admonished that the supremacists should be “condemned totally” somehow also delivered an “unequivocal boost” to those very same miscreants?
“Racism is evil, and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”

Been hearing that for the last 3 years. ROFL!

Sorry, no amount of 20 line contorted
Uhhhh...for partisans sake, I guess so.
For any honest person, therefore, to conclude that the president somehow praised the very people he actually derided, reveals a blatant and blinding level of bias.
Yup!
@sneezy
Sorry, thank God for the power of transcripts to debunking liberal falsehoods. Smh....
