"Sooner or later, I'm assuming she's going to send them over," he said. "It seems to me a rather absurd position to say, after you've impeached the president, you won't send the papers over to the Senate for the impeachment trial mandated by the Constitution."
Even Moscow recognizes Donny has been impeached. He’s number 3!

Mitch must know his Heidelberg Catechism well:
Q: What is Thy only comfort in life and death?
A: That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong unto my faithful Savior Donald J. Trump; who, with his precious electoral victory in 2016, hath fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the restraints of moral integrity.

Pelosi withholding the transfer of the articles of impeachment is a stroke of genius. GOP isn't used to being on the receiving end. Democrats are fighting for what is right.

Trump doesn't sound very proud. He sounds like a whiny, overgrown 8 year-old.
(Cue for some chronically unfunny person to write "just like liberals, lol.")
bass4funk
Funny, in 1998 Schumer was dead set against calling anymore witnesses after the trial and now he demands lol?
The Dems had their chance.
if the Democrats have nothing to hide and are really honest in their endeavor to find the truth then Pelosi should send the articles over to the Senate. But they know that they really don’t have a strong case and this is the reason why they’re holding onto this as long as they can.
Tell that to the goalpost moving Democrats, please!
Boy, do they have short memories...

15 polls in the last week at RCP. 3 of them above 48% approval. Polls that used to always be 40% are 45 or 46.
Dems are losing the public with this nonsense impeachment and the delays.
Blacklabel
Oh Hunter Biden is speaking too? Nothing to hide, right?

As pointed out many, many times... the House doesn't hold a 'trial.' It holds investigations akin to a grand jury.
It is in the Senate that a trial happens. So saying 'witnesses after the trial' would literally mean witnesses after Clinton was not removed from office and the whole proceedings were over.
Blacklabel
They were talking today to the judge about adding more articles of impeachment (to not send to the Senate). “We impeached him twice!”
bass4funk
No, the Senate is theoretically the Jury, they can convict and remove the President based on the articles that were given to them by the investigative House Democrats. It passed the House, the Judiciary and now it’s in the Republicans hands and the Dems don’t have the right or power to impose anything on the Senate.
In Clinton’s trial pretty much on the day of the trial both sides came together to iron out their differences to get the witness that they needed to move forward, it was quick and it was behind closed doors.

Why do the Republicans support foreign meddling in U.S. elections?
And why would any Americans (regardless of party) support an American president who quite openly seeks help from foreign adversaries?
Reagan must be rolling over in his grave.

Impeach him 10 more times. Nobody cares until it’s sent to the Senate for acquittal. Being impeached only by your partisan enemies means nothing any just cheapens impeachment as a tool.
Strangerland
haha I’m sure your team would like to believe that. But the fact is his name is forever associated with impeachment. It’s his well deserved legacy.
SuperLib
LOL yes, you've ruled out witnesses. You are giving false information to your undereducated base to sound tough. A trial would be a liability so you are best off having no trial.
SuperLib
Because it benefits their party.
The end.
CrazyJoe
Don't send the inquiry to the Senate. Impeach him and send to the Senate at a later date. Don't send until the Senate agrees to a real trial. According to Lawrence Tribe, there is nothing in the Constitution that says the House has to refer the inquiry to the Senate for a trial. Just vote to impeach and wait. I guarantee this would drive Trump crazy and he would commit more offenses.
Numan
It has begun.....
So far I see this, can anyone add anything else to the list:
Russia attacks democratic emails of Hillary Clinton,
Trump asked Russia to find the emails on air during debate.
Hired Manafort who had strong ties to Russia
Manafort, Trump Jr meet with Russian Lawyer who promises dirt on Hillary

While talking with Russian officials he says the pressure is off him now that Comey is gone
Michael Cohen who had contact with Russia and denied it only to say it was true
National Security Adviser Michael Flynn meeting with Russian officials in DC, he lied about then said it was true
Trump has gone to great lengths to conceal detail of meeting with Putin, he even took the notes from the interrupter
Trump after being told by security advisors Russia was behind the hack, he goes on stage with Putin and says he believes Putin
Gave their polling data to Russian oligarchy, this is collusion by any definition
Bribery type of conspiracy to hush money for indiscretions
quid pro quo accepting something of value from a foreign country
Rudy Giuliani now saying "I never said there was no collusion

Trump has not been impeached if it doesn't move to the senate. All lip service. The dumbocrats deserve Pelosi.
Blacklabel
So basically stalling for time so that the liberal media can create more things that will be excluded from the actual articles of impeachment.
Blacklabel
Maybe you should have gotten all your witnesses and gathered all your supposed evidence before rushing through an impeachment vote?
gonna look even more ridiculous when you try to impeach him again.

Pelosi wouldn't know what the Constitution, which she continually talks about, was if it hit her on the head.
The longer she holds onto those articles of Impeachment Lite, the more foolish she looks.
Pelosi withholding the transfer of the articles of impeachment is a stroke of genius.

Pelosi is a boss. She totally schooled the entire Republican Party, and half her own party, with the whole impeachment pushback after the Mueller report, then with her doing it properly when Trump clearly broke the law beyond any reasonable doubt. And finally, holding the impeachment papers to expose the publican abandonment of ethics is a stroke of genius.
“I call her Nancy”.
He should call her “boss”.

Trump is not a bull in a China shop, he's a matador and the Democrats are the bull focused on the red cape.

Before House vote: Are the Democrats hateful and nuts enough to impeach the best president we've ever had?
After House vote: Well, they're hateful and nuts enough, but they ain't got the balls to send us their articles of Impeachment Lite in line with the Constitution. Jeez...
bass4funk
I recall in 1998 the Democrats did exactly that.
...or maybe..
https://edition.cnn.com/2019/12/18/politics/impeachment-polling-donald-trump/index.html
Not really. Because McConnell can’t wait to kill this ASAP!
Numan
Here is why McConnell 'blinked'.
Yesterday under the freedom of information act many of us just learned today that an official from the White House budget office directed the Defense Department to “hold off” on sending military aid to Ukraine less than two hours after President Trump’s controversial phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to internal emails.
As more evidence surfaces it makes the Senate vote to acquit much more challenging before the American people.
bass4funk
Ok, so Dems don’t just want to blow up the constitution they want scorched Earth...wow!
Now you do know that Pelosi is being played right now by McConnell. So many judges have been confirmed in the lower appellate courts over 80 that cements the Republicans strongholds and the Democrats are worried about flimsy impeachment that will go nowhere.
Why should the Senate do what the House wants? You guys...ROFL!
there is nothing in the constitution that says the Senate has to follow what the houses or that they even have to take this up for a trial, they can to miss this entire farce whenever they want.
Either way Trump gets a second lease on life thanks to the Democrats, well played.
bass4funk
But it will happen and no amount of circus political leftist shenanigans will change that outcome, he won’t be convicted or removed. It just won’t happen.
-sorry....

Article I, Section 2, Clause 5 provides:
The House of Representatives . . . shall have the sole power of impeachment.
Article I, Section 3, Clauses 6 and 7 provide:
The Senate shall have sole power to try all impeachments.
Article II, Section 4 provides:
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
Notice the distinct lack of requirement that the House transmit the articles of impeachment before the president is impeached?
Serrano
Pelosi is committing abuse of power by not sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate. Not sending the articles of iImpeachment to the Senate is in violation of the Constitution. That's not a small matter. And since she is not sending them, that's obstruction. The two exact same things they are trying to get Trump on.
Trump being a great president who actually has been keeping promises made is one way of being re-elected. The fact the Democrats have shown they're far more concerned with illegals than Americans is the other. Trump should win a historical landslide victory this election.

Senate leaders also have the power to not hold a trial especially if the impeachment is politically partisan in nature.
Which there aren’t any that meet that definition. If Clinton wouldn’t get removed for having sex with an intern or lying in his deposition which is a very serious crime, not to mention 11 indictments, then there’s zero hope of Trump getting removed from office over a stupid phone call. Won’t happen.
Ok, so no crime, let’s charge the guy with something and pray it works. Nope, but on the other side, it’s politically making Trump stronger, so I won’t stand in the Dems way of giving us the President for another term.
plasticmonkey
So you're OK with a president holding up congressionally appropriated military aid in exchange for a foreign government helping dig up dirt on that president's political rival and not telling congress about it?
Or that didn't happen?
Which?
bass4funk
They got the aid, nothing was kept or withheld. When Zelenskiy says there was no quid pro quo Dems could care less what he says, let’s just impeach him anyway on what, we will just make it up as we go. As far as Biden is concerned, yeah, I’m very concerned about that. I was also concerned about the last president only giving the Ukrainians rations and blankets.
bass4funk
Oh, you mean the never Trumper Republicans, the old rhinos that could never win an election, ever? Even with all the brainpower that they have combined, they still could never win an election. Kasich and the Krystol’s are from a long ago extinct era.
