"America makes a sinister and cynical deliberate confusion between visiting and trespassing."

OgieDoggie: Why doesn't NK just open itself up to tourism and cash in on it?

"Why doesn't NK just open itself up to tourism and cash in on it?"

Yeah, because NK has the most interesting and beautiful ( ) of any place in the world! Now I just wonder that goes in that blank. If someone figures that out, tell the NK government so they can destroy it.

Bah! Anyone stupid enough to illegally enter NK deserves to serve the full sentence if caught. We have to stop mollycoddling these brain-dead activists.

"We only have a handful of former presidents.”

Yes, not to mention Dubya's become a bit shoe-shy since his last visit to Iraq.

That's cheeky all right.

"Now that speaks volumes, doesn't it?"

Not really.

Nice Molenir. You are a man after my own heart. I also recommend that during that gunplay, humming the theme song to MASH would make it doubly meaningful for anyone interested.

Anyone who wants to visit North Korea. I strongly recommend going there by GOOGLE EARTH. It is an eye opener and it will make you think.... "Holy smokes, what was I thinking about?" Look at the DMZ, a few palaces, and a few denuded mountains. Border areas are ALL interesting and revealing. Get some popcorn, because it can be riveting and addictive. Oh, and look at some places for contrast too. Look at the suburbs of Pyonyang, and then those of Seoul. Try to find any place in NK that looks like Disneyland...even a little bit. Bet you can't. My favorite is playing "condo or gulag?" There are lots of games you can play.

The problem is, this might help North Korea's position - by constantly 'showing favour' towards America by releasing these idiots, it may give them leverage when negotiating

Uh, not only does the US gov't warn against visiting NK, on my passport it says it is not valid for travel to Cuba, NK, & Libya. If Americans want to go there without heeding the advice of their own government, they should be left there to rot!

Well dangit, there goes my Silver Week vacation plans. Heard there are rooms available in that 105 story empty Ryugyong Hotel...

Carter’s trip means that the only living former presidents not to have rescued Americans imprisoned in North Korea are George H.W. Bush and his son, George W Bush.

Now that speaks volumes, doesn't it?

The State Department warns against traveling to North Korea. Why the urge to feed more wood into the fire? Hello...lights on, but no one home?! Classical case of a chess game - in for the give and take. North Korea loves having a joy ride on our expense account. For the purposes of fairness, when tax payers money is rendered to free despite the violation (rescue mission?, please!), then tax payers money must be implemented to incarcerate (domestically) for such violation.

There are lots of countries that are on the US Gov's "do not travel" list due to either hostilities between the US and that country or violence and internal strife happening in that country. NK is no different.

"there are not too many former U.S. presidents left available for rescue missions."

Former President Obama will be available in a few years.

Yes please. If you're an American and thinking about visiting NK, or the border, or anywhere near the border. Please, just get a gun, and shoot yourself in the head. It will save everyone else a lot of headaches, and remove a few of the 'stupid' genes from the pool. This will be better for humanity in the long run.
