The US might, through offering prizes and cash incentives, get to somewhere just over 70% vaccination rate nationwide, but it will take a while.
And between their poor public health care system, the large number of people who can't afford to take a day off of any of the multiple part time zero hour zero benefits jobs they scrape by on, and a legal system that ignores individual responsibilities but pays excessive attention to individual 'rights' and that blanket vaccination tends not to end the cycle of outbreaks of a virus, I'm sorry to say that a 'wave' is in our (the global north's) future with the first hints coming in mid November, a 'shutdown' being needed in mid December but mostly not happening until January.

So many people around the world are begging for vaccines, meanwhile ***** Americans have to be begged to take it. This country is a pathetic mess on so many fronts.

Idiots morons and fools. That’s who is keeping us from putting this behind us.
Bob Fosse
Can’t blame Joe for that. There’s no cure for idiocy, those people were never going to get vaccinated. Still, they’re usually pretty vocal and tend to stand out so are easily avoided.
Kaerimashita
C’mon Joe. You were supposed to fix this. Offer them ice cream.

There is some logic in vaccine hesitancy. First, remember that the 'vaccine' really isn't a vaccine yet- it is an experimental treatment that is being administered on an emergency waiver. It may (and probably will) be proven safe and effective given more study and data, but for the moment it is still experimental.
Also, people who have already had Covid and survived have natural immunity. No need for them to get vaccinated as well.
Lastly, people are simply willing to risk it. The chance of dying from Covid if you are young and healthy is vanishingly small. People under 45 years of age account for less than 3% of covid deaths, so naturally they don't feel the urgency.

Logic doesn’t work in a time of government stoked mass hysteria. It’s vaccinate everyone or nothing. And those who don’t need or don’t want the vaccine [need to be blamed for the ongoing silliness and treated like pariahs.
Bob Fosse
So why did the ex President get vaccinated?
He never had Covid? Your assertion about natural immunity is untrue? He didn’t get the vaccine? His doctors gave him bad advice? Got to be one of them.
Blacklabel
because the CDC recommended to do so. "the science".

I don't really understand the hysteria about the unvaccinated. If you want the vaccine, great! Go get it, then you are protected. Why do you then continue to castigate those who choose not to? It has nothing to do with you if you have had the jab. Anyone who wants a vaccine can get one today- at least in the US.
Personally speaking, if I were elderly or in a high risk category, I would probably take it. But each person has their own risk tolerance and can make their own decisions. Ditto for continuing mask mandates. There is no point to them.

Because deep down they are scared about what they have allowed to be put into their bodies, and therefore to help ease their anxiety they want everyone else to do the same.

Hmmmm..... The CDC didn't recommend HCQ but Trump took it because HE said it would prevent COVID....he got it anyway...the science.
The CDC recommended no large gatherings but Trump still held them in the Rose Garden and at his rallies....and they turned into super-spreader events where many got COVID....the science....
The CDC didn't recommend injecting disinfectant or inserting blue lights, but Trump says those should be "looked in to".....the science....

The 8-lane, mass vaccination site for my county is shutting down in 10 days. They've had walk-in and appointment vaccinations for over a month there.
Was in a grocery store a few days ago. The pharmacy there had a post-vaccine waiting area with 4 chairs. 1 person was sitting down. No appointment needed. Nobody else there, except workers behind the pharmacy window. Announcement on the store speaker system was that fully vaccinated people didn't need to wear masks and that everyone else should. Perhaps 20% of shoppers wore masks - the numbers here are 37% are fully vaccinated, so 60% of the shoppers really should have been wearing masks. The huge sheets of plexiglass to protect the workers were gone too.
The massive drop in drop in COVID cases over the last 14 days makes it appear this is almost done here. There were 80 new cases 13 days ago. Yesterday, there were 19 new cases. That's just in the suburban county with just under 700K residents. Seems under control, until school starts up again in the fall.
President Biden's goal won't be happening. Can't believe that vaccination was so politicized. We know who to thank for that, but I don't want to mention THAT name here.
ulysses
donald took the vaccine in cowardly secrecy leading his not so bright followers on the Covid denial path.
It's not a surprise that the red states are lagging and the ones where ignorance runs high are even more behind.
Bob Fosse
So why can’t his supporters follow the same ‘science’ rather than spreading misinformation about natural immunity which simply is not true?
I feel the same way about those who don’t want it but persist in spreading lies about it and loudly telling everyone again and again and again that they won’t take it. Fine, don’t take it and move along.
Blacklabel
then let me not take it and let me move along.
you arent letting us move on. You dont have to take it, you say.....but dont plan on going to the grocery store. or work, or school. or a concert. or a sporting event. or travelling.
because "we who know best for you" are making plans to prevent you from doing all that and more if you dont.
Bob Fosse
You are imagining things that I haven’t said but feel free to quote me.
