Hawaii judge blocks latest version of Trump travel ban

Foreigners are not the same as citizens. These far Left judges know that but their ideology prevents them from following the Constitution and the law.

The problem with this radical judge (Obama appointee, go figure) is, they don’t realize they’re walking a very thin line, if for some benign and in a possible future the Dems pick up majorities or are back in power the conservative Judges will do the same thing, the libs set off a powder keg basically saying, we can defy a sitting presidents executive order. What comes around goes around and this has the potential of some very bad repercussions on the entire country.

I hear you, brah. So, you are in favor of the ban?

I'm not in favor of an outright ban but do see the prudence in a moratorium on countries where cooperation with the US vetting process is either limited or non-existent. I see the connection between the moratorium and the Muslim faith to be coincidental. If the main focus of the moratorium was to target individuals based on their adherence to Islam and not on their country of origin then the remaining 88% of Muslim majority countries would be on the list, too. The problem is not with Islam but with the governments of the countries in question. The fact that the majority of Muslim majority countries are not on the proposed moratorium list would indicate that it is not about Islam but about the level of intergovernmental cooperation in regards to immigrant VISA applications and vetting.

Ah, so Hawaii isn't burdened with these dangerous Muslim people so they have no place to talk?

They can talk all they want. But in light of the fact that Hawaii is possibly the state that would be the least impacted by the moratorium it is clear that the motivation behind these lawsuits is purely political. The only horse that Hawaii has in this race is called "Resistance" and it is jockeyed by political appointees in search of their own personal political capital.

Since 2010 Hawaii has accepted 20 refugees, that's 20 out of the around 530,000 refugees arriving in the US for that period of time. It something like .004% of the total.

Hawaii accepted 7 refugees in 2015, 5 from Burma, 1 from China and 1 from Ukraine. Hawaii accepted 0, as in nada, from any of the countries listed in the travel ban.

There are around 5000 Muslims in Hawaii, which puts them at about .035% of the population.

There is a community in the islands; this blocking should be welcomed as it shows the inclusivity of one of the most diverse states in the US.

In regards to ethnic and/or racial diversity Hawaii is #1 but the same cannot be said about political and ideological diversity. Hawaii is a bastion of the Democratic Party and the Party Line is the driving force behind just about every aspect of life there. I was born and raised in Hawaii and still make my home in the 50th State and based on my own life experiences I can say Judge Watson's actions are completely political. We have a local vernacular in Hawaii that draws on the contributions of the many different groups that have settled here, including the Japanese. It is one of those Japanese contributions that comes to mind when looking at Judge Watson's actions. It's all "shibai".

So we have to wait for someone from one of these countries to "make history" before we do anything?

This is within the power of the president to identify the countries that do not properly vet their citizens per our guidance and ban them from entry for national security reasons.

Libs should have left this alone and pretended they would have won had the Supreme Court ruled. Because now they will get a ruling and they won't like it.

The judge is saying that the counties banned have no history of terrorism in the US, so he's questioning why a ban is needed for these countries. It would be like banning entry of Japanese into the US....because of drug smuggling. While leaving Columbia off the list.

Obama's judge friend for the trifecta. Let's get this back on the Supreme Court docket so this can be decided once and for all. I find it really strange how the same judge got all 3 of these, are there no other judges in Hawaii who can look at this once?

I don't get it. With the first attempt, as I recall, Trump wanted a 90 day period to study the effects of immigration. And thereafter the administration was to craft an immigration policy based on fact. With my powers of math, I think we have overshot that 90 days by about 150 days. Surely by now, even this fact-challenged administration should have some objective data to share with us.
