I'm not debating whether it was intelligent to send pallets of cash, I'm calling you out for labeling it as aid. No more, no less.
Chip Star
Wow. You support a socialist president in Venezuela.
Agreed about this congress not doing anything. The damn obstructionist pubs in the senate.
Chip Star
It is there money and it's not aid.
vic.M
The USA puts sanctions on Venezuela and then tries to send aid to show how good they are and how they care for the people of Venezuela.
Chip Star
Pallets of cash as aid? Whoever did that?

The contrast between the press coverage, certain governments posture, and those same governments responses, to the much hyped situation in Venezuela, and the very real situation in Haiti (humanitarian crisis, antigoverment protesters clogging the streets, brutal, deadly oppression by the police/military against the protests) is pretty compelling evidence that the claims of those governments that their postures, responses, and actions are motivated by humanitarian concerns are less believable than Trump's claims that his actions (The government shutdown, and the declaration of emergency) are motivated by facts.

Ah. So by your calculation, that would be 1% of the population. Doesn't seem to have made much of a dent, has it?
Chavez and Maduro have doomed the country by nationalizing the oil industry and then neglecting necessary investments while also neglecting to diversify industry. Their plight has nothing to do with socialism; it was caused by greed and mismanagement -the type that, for example, has so complicated American health care. So, no, Wc62six - you are quite incorrect.

Legally elected representatives have control over the Venezuelan money in the USA now.
BTW, most Venezuelan oil is heavy crude because they mis-managed their lite-sweet oil fields over the last 20 yrs.
The Venezuelan economy has been hurting for 20+ yrs. Sanctions on oil have been used only the last 2 yrs. Their economy was failing a long time, which their Russian, Chinese and Cuban friends haven't help to resolve. Nice work.
And Costa Rica is throwing out Maduro's diplomats. When was the last time CR did anything this political internationally? The Ticos think something terrible is up in Vz.
englisc aspyrgend
Maduro’s election was as fraudulent as you can get, as recognised by every government in the region, the legitimate legislature under the Venezuelan constitution elected a a pro them president until valid elections can be held, the only thing giving Madura any power in the country is the military, which as he has no valid constitutional authority makes him a dictator.
Chop Chop
Maduro was most stupid and idiotic socialist leader in the Latin America. He does not qualified for the President job.
Whole Venezuelans should show up at front of country Military HQ and demand military to open the blockage and allow foods and medical aid trucks into Venezuela.
Always the Generals are in the pocket of dictatorship because the dictatorship Government allows General and military officers to corrupt and involve in drug trafficking.
starpunk
Nothing wrong with relief whatsoever, but with Donny Douchebag sending it, he's got a price tag on it and he wants to stick his ugly face into matters that don't concern him and where he ain't welcome.
Chip Star
Tell that to your boy Trump.
Open Minded
Trump does not care about Venezuela people. He only needs the Venezuela heavy oil to balance its domestic crappy quality oil.
This "aid" is just a cheap psychological warfare.
englisc aspyrgend
Star punk, I assume you intend that Venezuela should continue to suffer the misery imposed on them by their economically illiterate and blindly dogmatic government without hope of relief?
kazetsukai
Good move..!
Better than financial aid... we cannot control the flow of money in other countries, especially there.
Instead a "direct" and "immediate" relief to those actually in need.
That is "action" and not rhetoric that needs to be commended.
I hope the relief materials do go to the actual people in need without enriching those who take advantage of such aid.
mukashiyokatta
And is there aid for Gaza, too?? And Yemen?? Eh? Why not??
starpunk
Leave Venezuela alone. Impeach the vuvuzela traitor Donny Douchebag Trump.
Blacklabel
Every article is basically how can we blame Trump even when humanitarian aid is being given. Not enough, too much, too early, too late. Just pick one every time.
A “thank you” would be the most appropriate response sometimes.
Blacklabel
Then why were Democrats mad if it was all legitimate?
Blacklabel
Your side seems to love flying in pallets of cash to our enemies and claiming it’s “their money”. Which they then use to buy missiles and weapons to fight against us.
so I am glad to see Trump being smart enough to send food and supplies not sending pallets of cash.
Wc62six
Send Ocasio Cortez there. Let her witness firsthand how she will doom the US with here relentless socialist agenda.
bass4funk
I agree, but don't expect this congress to do anything, that's asking a lot from them.
Blacklabel
Much better then pallets of cash.
