This was obvious on Feb 24th. I'm sure Putin would have loved all of Ukraine. but with the unexpectedly high level of resistance and Western assistance, both sides will end up settling for a split Western/Eastern Ukraine. Putin must have been seriously traumatized watching the Berlin Wall go down 33 years ago.

All the turrets are falling off the Russian tanks. Must be a design flaw.

The Russian soldiers and many of their commanders don't have their heart in the fight against their brothers and sisters of Ukraine. It's time for a several Russian divisions to change sides and end this.

The use of conscripts in order to fight a totally unnecessary and unjustifiable war has a lot to do with Russia's failure.

Russia plans to annex all of Ukraine and then Europe

Easy tiger! He's clearly as mad as a bag of cut snakes, but I don't think he's mad enough to think he can overrun all of Europe. Especially when the abject performance of his military is revealed to him.

Russia can try to annex eastern Ukraine but the west will continue to "up arm" Ukraine forces to take it all back.

Russia needs to be booted from the UN for going against its rules.

The consequences for theft of territory under arms must be enough to discourage it from ever happening again. Wars of expansion must bring with it a total economic embargo by all nations in the UN. This barbarity is unacceptable in a world that needs to work together to save our species and planet and to secure our oasis for all future generations to enjoy a long, safe and secure future.

Opening up international embassies already in Kyiv is a bad idea.

What happened to the helicopters that Biden promised to send Ukraine ?

Is Russia really failing ?

Seems like Putin is slowly achieving his goal.

Its truly difficult to know what information isn't disinformation.

Don't try to say i support putin because i Don't !

Russian conscripts are not permitted to serve outside the country or in combat situations. There may be some on duty in Ukraine but they will be volunteers and few in number. The Russian military has long been a professional army. There is very little the conscripts can do with their one year service.

The quoted US official must be a genius. Yes, of course Russia is going to annex the south and east. They have been saying so themselves.

Russia can say what it likes, but Ukrainian is the Ukrainian if people living in those areas want Russian rule fine! Go live in Russia it’s not that far away. Problem solved no bombs no attacks, just pack up and **** off.

I still don't get why Russia is so obsessed with the lands. The move is against all odds, at the expense of almost everything. They will end up giving away Crimea to Ukraine, and Northern Territories to Japan. Putin will be brought to The Hague or hell...

This is NATO sponsored political erotica.

Putin is "obsessed" with those lands because Russians who have lived in those lands forever are once again victims of fascist aggression and no Russian leader who wants to remain alive can let that pass without striking back.

Right? What sort of maniac looks at a map of Russia and thinks, "Hmm, needs to be bigger"?

Ok, now USA is on the move, which country will you ruin now? Relax, this is just a fight between big guys, everyone else is of little importance....

The US aren't fighting this war. If you haven't been paying attention, Russia invaded Ukraine. Not the US.

And so the atrocities, horror, and misery continue unabated, as encapsulated in the series of attached photos - for how much longer can this happen?

Last week, a valuable opportunity was lost by the hopelessly inadequate Sec-Gen of the UN - him and his team had finally left their Ivory Tower in NYC and half-heartedly ventured into the fray. His first mistake was to visit The War Criminal-in-Chief Putin first, instead of visiting Ukraine and the actual scene of the crimes which he has committed; there he could have taken a hundred photos of the extent of the horrendous terror caused, bodies in the streets and being exhumed from beneath crushed apartment blocks, and then laid them out neatly on Putin's long-table to confront him with the reality, and to ask him if he's pleased with his work, if these are the actions of a normal human-being.

But no, he meekly sat there listening to the pathetic lies and platitudes of the madman, thus achieving absolutely zero.

Time for the UN to be abolished and a new dynamic and proactively anti-war movement to be established, one that will actually stop any war before it breaks out. The UN is totally incapable of this, and yet all the taxpayers of the world are paying their vast salaries and expense-accounts, for what ??

Russia still benefit more in the long run. They gain more control of the Black Sea, gain large fertile lands to produce grain( this means more countries would need to do business with them) and that region has a large reserve of natural gas. West sanction won't able to hurt them for long. As long Russia resume the grain, oil and gas production, they hold immense leverage over a large number of countries.

Is still their victory if they annex the whole region. While Ukraine on the other hand need billions of support every month from the west to even survive the coming months or their economy will crumble. I don't think the US and EU can keep this up much longer. Just yesterday the US announce that this whole war is putting strain on their stockpile of weapons.

Ukraine want to be a part of the EU,no person with good sense, would entertain this idea, unless all Ukraine border are into the Ukrainlan federation

To the poster who stated "you don't know your numbers either"

Well, perhaps not.

Let's here from someone who most likely does, shall we?

"Where is the rest of Russia’s army?"
