If they want to leave, sure. But if they are truly concerned about their staff's well-being they wouldn't ask them to return to the country most heavily affected by the virus. Literally any other country on the planet would be better.

The US are very close to hitting 1,000,000 covid related fatalities. China is by no means perfect but it's a shame the US choose to use this situation for political theatrics.

No question the USA is dealing with serious problems. But re 'any other country', could You show results from Russia, or could Russia even allow results to be shown? Or does the Kremlin have to first approve the number to ensure they are appropriate for more propaganda. It would be good for the world to see whether Sputnik or whatever Putin's calling his vaccine has been effective. It would be good for Russia to admit it's part of the world, not just another gas station.

Authoritarian states have rarely ever cared for their 'own' people. Authoritarians seem to think they 'own' people, and that seems to be what many people in those states want. And now many people even some living living in democracies are pushing for their nations to become more authoritarian, for example some are even supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine, hoping for further Russian expansion.

All of that information is publicly available, yes. Russia has had about 18M cases and 370,000 deaths. Pretty bad, one of the worst in the world actually. Their approach has not been particularly effective. Still better than the US, which was my point.

The only place we really don't have many details on is North Korea. Maybe they have the highest per capita rate of deaths in the world, we don't really know. It'd be surprising given how much more they have limited contact, even moreso than usual.

I keep bringing this up because I'm baffled how millions of unvaccinated (a dodgy 30% maybe vaccinated) have entered Europe and I know there's been an increase in infections (but nothing to write home about) deaths rates have remained more or less the same. Can anyone answer the question. Why have we not seen more catastrophic results coming out of Europe

Other than in Hubei, where the virus is claimed to emerged and early on in the pandemic, deaths attributed to COVID infection in China have been amazingly low. Albeit much reason to doubt American statistics, certainly we will hear from same how "untrustworthy" China is and how we cannot depend upon their honest reporting and America, with the most expensive system almost inaccessible to millions of people, with the highest COVID death count of all, ranking from between 18th and 39th, depending on the data source, in overall quality of care, risk of death, and favorable outcomes, and "Capitalist Healthcare" known to be responsible for ~250,000 deaths by medical error per year...my advice to these 'staff' by all available data: IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY, STAY IN SHANGHAI!

You have bad information. Of the 50 US states, California had the 15th lowest infection rate when measured by cases per 100,000 residents. For the most populous state in the US by a large margin it is a credible accomplishment.

Sigh. Half my family lives in Shanghai. When Mama is in the hospital the brothers their wives have to bring her food, change the sheets and such. We have to buy her medications no available to her in China and ship them there. It is often a struggle to get Mama health care. But this will frost your cookies. A couple of times I have been sick there and needed to use clinics and a hospital. Even in China, cash talks and no matter how full the waiting room was (there are no appointments for health care in China, everything is first come first served), if I had cash I went to the head of the line and was the doctor's next patient.

Btw, my sack still gets tight every time I replay the mental image of the children at the big Childrens Hospital of Fudan University having their blood drawn .... from their necks. Yeah, hold a toddler down and shove a needle in their neck while the child writhes and screams. I will never forget it.
