The companies that run these pipelines are incomprehensibly incompetent or monumentally negligent.
The IT systems that run these pipelines have no public facing component. They don't sell anything. They are not accepting uploads for submission, or validating credit cards. There is no door for hackers to enter, unless the company is dumb enough to open one.
And they still somehow get hacked. This is gross negligence.
Thank God that Cyber security is NOT part of infrastructure.
