At the very least the borders should be the 1967 borders. Really the borders should return to the UN Partition Plan of 1947.

Sorry goodDonkey but the Israelis won't set themselves up for failure like that. They won the territory fair and square so tough luck to get that to happen.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

My prediction; Israel takes the offer and delays negotiating until the time constraint included in the offer expires.

I agree somewhat with goodDonkey. But even the 1947 partition plan seems like it was designed to split the Palestinians. I think the best solution would be a one-state solution, with the right of return and everyone having equal rights.

Anyway, Israel is going down fast. If they do not settle this quickly, they will lose it all.

The major players in the Israeli government know they can't hold onto the settlements in the West Bank and get peace also. They will hand it over eventually. Of course they will destroy the buildings before they leave. 1967 borders will be the final border solution.

Oh and mikehuntez, the Israelis will lose the land fair and square in the world political arena. Setting themselves up for failure or not it will be the 1967 UN borders that prevail.

Why do the Palestinians want East Jerusalem? Get a clue...build a new capital some place if if you can, and seeing the mess they create wherever they are, I doubt they could pull it off.

Why do the Palestinians want East Jerusalem?

It belongs to them, according to international law and the entire world.

Get a clue...build a new capital some place if if you can, and seeing the mess they create wherever they are, I doubt they could pull it off.

Palestine was doing fine until the zionists messed it up. It is not the Palestinians who are messing things up. Get a clue, indeed.

sabiwabi, lose what? They are in no danger of losing in a military conflict. If they want to they can take the capitals of all of the nations surrounding them. If they "lose" they can make their enemies suffer using their stockpile of nukes. A one nation solution would be nice but the Muslims want all of the Jews DEAD, look at their "tolerance" regarding religion. They have none and soon all of the Christians and Jews in their lands will be dead or driven out. Israel is a refuge to the Jews, in a world hostile to them.

war-won land

it's Israeli land. period.

what??? LOL! what are you talking about?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I just cannot see any point to offering a 3-month deal without any extensions being requested. Good PR opportunity for Israel I guess, but nothing will happen in the ways of negotiations. What an unbelievable culture of violence that has been created. Anybody talking non-hatred is so completely ignored. We have all turned into monsters.

But 90 days seems to be very short time to achieve what Israeli and Palestinian negotiators have failed to do in nearly two decades of intermittent talks.....

But you finally has someone who will make you listen and come to terms.

I wish Hillary would run in 2012. < :-)

it's Israeli land. period.

Why cause the bible tells you so? LMAO! The entire West Bank and Gaza Strip will be the Palestinian State.

Israel has not proceeded honorably. It is precisely men (I use the term loosely) like Netanyahu that have been a detriment to the peace process. In his prior role as PM he destroyed the chances for peace for many years. Israel has squandered many opportunities for true peace.

There will never be peace as long as Israel either builds new settlements or allows the existing settlements to remain in the West Bank.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Anybody talking non-hatred is so completely ignored.

Wrong. Palestinian terrorism is being completely ignored.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well let's hope that something positive will come of it. But at some point we still have to worry about the Hamas neanderthals and their Iranian backers who have made it clear that they are against any deals that involve peace.

Why cause the bible tells you so? LMAO!

wow, Donkey, you really are a Christian-hater! lol...

It's Israeli because they won it in a war forced on them by Muslim aggression. There is no Palestine. The Palestinians should instead try to be peaceful people and stop blowing themselves up.

If the Pals quit trying to hang on to East Jerusalem, Israel will pull out of the West Bank completely. The fact is that the Pals are not interested in peace. Israel did a unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, and where did that leave everybody? If Israel concedes, the Pals with just make more demands. One state is a good idea with the right to housing, but not return. The right to return is not even a practical solution even if Israel did not exist.

Israel did a unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, and where did that leave everybody?

Unilateral? You make it sound like they gave up so much. They simply left land that they had been illegally occupying. But they didn't really withdraw, they never gave up control of Gaza.

As for the ceasefire they had negotiated with the Palestinians, the Israelis were supposed to let in a certain amount of goods into Gaza. The Gazans followed their end of the deal, but the Israelis never followed theirs, only letting a tiny fraction of the agreed goods to enter Gaza. The ceasefire was then broken by Israel when they killed a number of Gazans, eventually leading to about 1400 dead Gazans, many of them women and children.

If Israel concedes, the Pals with just make more demands.

No, the Palestinians only want what is historically and legally theirs, and which the entire world agrees is theirs. The Israelis just want more and more of the land that never belonged to them and to which they are in no way entitled to.

The right to return is not even a practical solution even if Israel did not exist.

No, the right of refugees to return to land that belongs to them and from which they were brutally and illegally evicted from by terror is a basic right. Not only is it practical, its the only solution.

Israel turned desert green. What have the Palestinians done? Absolutely nothing except increase their population.

What the US should do is tell Israel to move to its pre-1967 border and start obeying international law and principles of common human decency or else they will stop all financial and military aid. That is what the US SHOULD do, but they won't because of AIPAC and the power of the corporations (MIC) that are making money from death.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not that I don"t care, I do care. But for as long as I can remember these "discussions" are broken records...Anyone have anything new to say?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why can't anyone provide a valid reason why Israelis should be allowed to continue to illegally occupy other people's land, instead of attacking the messenger using deception.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

illegally occupy other people's land" Are you referring to the pre1967 borders or the entire area of Israel?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I have something real to say, if its not censored, Real Muslims are more Righteous than Real Christians than Real Jews than straight up Alienists, Evolutionists, Atheists. Historical fossils have never 'evolved', only disfunctionally mutated, like the theory of darwinism itself. If you actually read, as opposed to chat or gossip or rumor, you might not go in circles anymore, but its not my problem as much as it is yours. So think about.

"it's Israeli land. period."

What a crock. That's not the way it works, or there would be so many problems that it would always and only resort to 'might is right'. In other words, manfromamerica, you would agree it were Taliban-land if they took back Afghanistan. You should probably have kept in the usual racist 'if it's not Muslim*' in your argument before you left yourself so open.

Anyway, Israel won't buy it -- they will wait for a future US government which ensures its rampant racism and slaughter continue uninhibited, and their methods are condoned carte blanche.

smithinjapan: they will wait for a future US government which ensures its rampant racism and slaughter continue uninhibited, and their methods are condoned carte blanche.

It's been interesting to listen to you turn up the rhetoric on this issue over the years. Now you've reached the point where you obviously feel comfortable just thinking of the most outlandish comments and stating them as fact. I guess that makes you a soldier in the war now, marching on to beat the Jews, which they no doubt deserve. You don't even bother throwing in the token "I'm no anti-semite" disclaimer anymore. If sabi were with you now he'd give you a big pat on the back.

We are discussing Israel, and how they have stolen land by force with the help of the US. The whole world is saying the land belongs to the Palestinians and is telling Israel to give the land back (pre-1967 border). But not only is Israel not getting well-deserved sanctions, they continue to receive massive financial and military aid and now Obama wants to give them more aid in exchange for Israel slowing down their land theft for a few months.

sabiwabi: But not only is Israel not getting well-deserved sanctions, they continue to receive massive financial and military aid and now Obama wants to give them more aid in exchange for Israel slowing down their land theft for a few months.

But not everyone wears your blinders. It's silly to make your claim against Israel when Palestine is a terrorist state receiving money from the US and Europe and weapons from Iran. Would you recommend the US and US stop all aid to Palestine until they stop killing Israelis and themselves? Of course you wouldn't. The notion of Palestinians doing anything less than angelic simply doesn't exist in your mind.

I doubt any of this will have any good effect on Palestinians plight. Gazans should just look to Egypt to annex them and become a province of that country. Ask the Egyptians to get rid of Hamas who have been keeping the strip in a constant state of war for their own misguided purposes. Under Egypt Gaza could prosper but they have to get rid of the terrorists first. That's been the only setback for Palestinians for the past few decades.

What an excitable, silly post

"In other words, manfromamerica, you would agree it were Taliban-land if they took back Afghanistan. You should probably have kept in the usual racist 'if it's not Muslim*' in your argument before you left yourself so open."

Smithinjapan believes we have a new race on earth.

Talibanese? Talibanos? Talibanics?

But not everyone wears your blinders.

A few years ago, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said: "The whole world is demanding that Israel withdraw [from occupied Palestinian territories]. I don't think the whole world ... can be wrong."

In other words, if someone has blinders on, it’s you! Israel should not use the UN to legitimize its “creation” and then spit in the UN’s face when they demand that they respect the laws of nations.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The UN is demanding both sides act with respect. Maybe you should get the religion out of your eyes and you can see this.
