Despite his apparent strength, the former president has been indicted four times since he was last a candidate and is preparing for the potential collapse of his business empire in his native New York in a civil fraud trial.

I am of the camp that Trump was sliding into being discredited and obscure post 2021 as his rigged election claims were found lacking and all this action on the legal front pre-primary/caucus is the thing that has boosted his prospects.

Biden is expected to comfortably defeat self-help author Marianne Williamson and Minnesota congressman Dean Phillips.

Blue collar Americans and small town folk are tired of Biden's wars, bloated socialist government and insane woke ideology.

Nonsense. The uneducated youth never voted and democrats have no problem with his economic policies.

America is becoming dysfunctional and the voters will send a message to the establishment by choosing Trump.

Could be worse: we could be losing multiple vietnams worth of people on wars of aggression.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

Working class Americans and folk of all variations are tired of the corporatocracy 's,wars, bloated crony capitalist socialism for the rich government and insane prosperity gospel ideology.

Fixed the usual suspect propagandizing that comes in on these posts for accuracy.

Yes I believe I encompassed that when I referred to uneducated youth. I don't know about minority youth but white youth are not going to switch to "grab 'em by the genitals" Trump.

The youth what we would normally call un-indoctrinated

Yeah, that wasn’t a racist comment at all.

Blue collar Americans and small town folk are tired of Biden's wars,

Biden's wars? The US is not currently at war with anyone. Absurd.

bloated socialist government

lol The US is far, far from being a socialist government. This too is absurd.

and insane woke ideology.

Ditto here. Being respectful of people from different backgrounds isn't "insane woke ideology."

Dan Marburger, the principal at Perry High School, has died after protecting students from the shooter.

I wonder how may Iowan voters will remember Mr. Trump's comments about the need to "get over it". Perhaps Mr. Trump should have taken his own advice....

America is becoming dysfunctional and the voters will send a message to the establishment by choosing Trump.

The US government was dysfunctional under Trump. And he tried to make democracy dysfunctional.

Trump 2024!

Amen brother, Trump needs to get in to the Whitehouse so he can milk it for all it's worth.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

nah that nonsense doesn’t work anymore, neither does the editing of his comments to misrepresent what he said.

joe Biden has 33% approval and is unwanted by the American people.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

nah that nonsense doesn’t work anymore

Nah, it's not nonsense. Trump used his time in the Whitehouse to line his own pockets. And it's really important to me that we get corrupt politicians like Trump back in office.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Weather will likely help those candidates who have the most passionate support. Most believe that's Trump.

Seems people in Iowa are very tired of HIGH prices and the growing global chaos in Europe, Middle East etc. Sounds like voters all across world, including Japan!

Every vote counts so let's protect democracy and count votes correctly!

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

FYI Trumps 'poll of poll', average consensus support, some 61.5% as of year-end.

Never in history from either party, has candidate with above polling at year-end prior to election year, failed to secure nomination if 40% or higher = it's Trumps.

Trump's above # highest in HISTORY of such polling.

Betting markets today have Trump as heavy favorite to win general election in 2024, about 2:1 vs, Biden.

Just the numbers, and they'll 'adjust' after Iowa results.

how so? Any convictions or just liberal media accusations?

thats what I thought.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

way down from the historic highs under Biden.

how’s it look compared to Trump? Double? And don’t even start talking about prices.

Blacklabel - the Chinese presence on this forum agrees wholeheartedly with you. Why is that?

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Luckily, inflation is way down, thanks to Biden

Rate of inflation is slowing, but when average rental costs, food costs and energy costs are up some 30% in just 3 years = UNPRECEDENTED increase in prices.

People feel it every day, recent 3.4% CPI print matters not, VERY high prices still going higher. Everyone BLAMES Biden's money printing if you believe polling.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

The US government was dysfunctional under Trump. And he tried to make democracy dysfunctional.

Not a single poll says this. Lol

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

but when average rental costs, food costs

Is that Biden's fault, or that fault of greedy private equity funds, which oddly enough back Trump, that bought up a bunch of residential real estate?

https://www.texastribune.org/2017/06/12/profiting-pain-trump-confidant-cashed-housing-crisis/

energy costs are up some 30% in just 3 years =

Yes, energy prices, and thus demand go up when the economy is strong.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Inflation the #1 issue in Iowa, followed by failed border policies and Ukraine/Middle East Wars.

Any wonder Trump's doing so well. Keep in mind Barack Obama won Iowa twice, so hardly a partisan state, rather highly educated, low crime and low unemployment etc.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

CCP is 0-1 in foreign elections this year. Let's not give them a win in our own countries' elections this year. Let's give the CCP an 'oh-for' in foreign elections this year!

7 ( +9 / -2 )

inflation is way down

way down from the historic highs under Biden.

Hardly historic highs (15% is the 80's). Inflation was global and due supply chain disruption by Covid and the Ukraine war. It wasn't caused by Biden.

And don’t even start talking about prices.

With inflation down, prices won't rise, so all good.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Is that Biden's fault

Biden’s fault. He congratulated himself that he supposedly saved us 16 cents on our 4th of July BBQ. So he is in control of price, driven by his policies.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Biden’s fault.

lol No it wasn't. I guess you're also going to tell me it's Biden's fault we have inflation in around the world as well?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Not talking about “around the world”. Poor deflection attempt.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Not talking about “around the world”. Poor deflection attempt.

Not a deflection at all. If you're going to blame Biden for inflation, then explain why inflation rates are up globally. Kind of seems like something bigger than Biden is at play.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

With inflation down, prices won't rise, so all good.

oh really?

“Consumer prices rose 0.3% in December, higher than expected, pushing the annual rate to 3.4%”

Better get Trump in jail by first week March. No one is able to jail the main political opposition, especially once they have the nomination.

30% is not the average, inflation only peaked at ~9%

People feel it every day, recent 3.4% CPI print matters not, VERY high prices still going higher.

Yes, but with inflation down, the price rises have been stemmed.

Everyone BLAMES Biden's money printing if you believe polling.

Polling does not equal facts. Inflation was global, not Biden's doing.

Other measure like unemployment at a 5 year low are looking good.

3.4% inflation is low.

American voters in Iowa and elsewhere deeply familiar with Biden's American Rescue Plan, Inflation Reduction Act, Chips Act, unspent Covid monies being redirected currently etc. Many $trillions in money printing.

Americans per polling blame Biden, including in Iowa for inflation. It was just 1.4% when he took office in Jan 2021.

If US economy so great, why +30% more people in poll after poll view their economic situation as WORSE vs. Better? Iowa's no different.

Betting markets get it = Voters HATE High Prices

Great policies for Americans and not the cause for inflation.

Sure. Wrong, but it's a very partisan world these days.

If US economy so great, why +30% more people in poll after poll view their economic situation as WORSE vs. Better? Iowa's no different.

From the Economist:

Opinion polling and sentiment surveys may have a negative bias. Profound partisan hostility is undoubtedly one factor. In their study Messrs Cummings and Mahoney calculated that Republican antipathy towards a Democrat-controlled White House may account for about 30% of the sentiment gap today.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

3.4% inflation is low.

Then you must have loved the trump inflation rate that was 50-60% less! Or nah?

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Then you must have loved the trump inflation rate that was 50-60% less! Or nah?

No, but I did love the part where he made $8 million dollars while in the Whitehouse.

Hey, how many millions more do you think he'll make the second time around?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

3.4% inflation is low.

It's lower but it's still high historically. But you're missing real point. High prices are embedded in the economy.

Some renting, eating, buying insurance, using energy, etc., it's all gone THRU the ROOF.

It's slowing now, but still increasing. Food and Shelter for example in above recent 3.4% inflation, still well above 5% annualized. Gas and car price increases have moderated, but prices remain HIGH relative to Jan 2021.

Inflation's what those in Iowa & US attribute to Biden = historical expansion of Govt. Spending. People don't care about fuzzing questionable Govt. CPI numbers, their Consumer EYES are not LYING to THEM.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Hmm..It's almost like the country was just breaking out of the pandemic.

Also, inflation around the world is up. Is that Biden's fault too? We both know this is nonsense.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

No, but I did love the part where he made $8 million dollars

Well darn, all that was thrown out years ago. Too bad.

Correct, Biden's inflation numbers tell story that plays out every day with US consumer in Iowa and elsewhere. No amount of Spin/Lies will change this reality.

People also hate being trapped in expensive and unable to buy a home due to high rates due to inflation FYI.

Plus, there's no easy inflation fix for Biden, as global inflation's being fueled now in Middle East. Biden likely steps aside ahead of Aug DNC, question is when?

Most d's in polling do not want Biden to run in 24.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

In 2023? nope.

In 2021 when it was at it's highest? Yes. It's gone down every year since then, even by your own sources.

Additionally, inflation higher in the EU than it is in the US. So, it doesn't seem like Biden has "caused" inflation. Again, this is a nonsense argument.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Repeat high prices are embedded.

If you're renter, avg. cost almost 30% more than Jan 21

Ditto food, energy, services, etc. Crushing, sure rate of change has slowed, but still high historically, prices still going UP.

Finally, people trapped in expensive rentals, as high inflation has caused mortgage rates to skyrocket. American dream is in big trouble for most.

People in Iowa and elsewhere feel high prices every day, Biden's a dead duck because above especially, but also border failure and global wars etc, in particular.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

The rental rates are coming down and with inflation coming down, interest rates will follow.

People in Iowa and elsewhere feel high prices every day, Biden's a dead duck because above especially, but also border failure and global wars etc, in particular.

But they feel it getting better. This will improve over time.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Would add people of Iowa, good predictor of non-partisan middle, independents especially. Most do not know only 27% voters registered democrats, 27% republicans.

These are the voters who'll decide 24 election, and inflation's TOP of MIND.

It's a bit disturbing when they openly confess to admiring the way he trolls "the left" and riles the MSM. As if those are the only job requirements they actually care about, although I'd far prefer a president who could reach across the divide, persuade "the left" with rational arguments and get at least some of them on board with his agenda.

100% mostly true.

It is highly likely Biden isn't even the disoriented Democratic party's candidate.

At the end of the day, this Biden administration is the most corrupt the US has ever seen.

Really important for people to understand, housing costs in Dec CPI report, annualized +5%., food as well. Auto, energy & services doing better but prices still elevated.

Plus, high interest rates make buying homes, cars, anything MUCH more expensive, not captured with inflation #s. First time home buyer = Mission Impossible, car payments brutal etc.

People of Iowa Trust Their Consumer "Inflation" Eyes
