Cruz should have stayed in Cancun whilst his constituents were dying.

No, criticizing Israel is not anti-Semitic no matter how loudly Zionists scream to the contrary.

38 ( +44 / -6 )

Asked whether he'd rule out running for president, Cruz demurred, replying that the 2016 campaign was “the most fun I've ever had in my life."

Having his wife's looks disparaged and having his father be linked to the Kennedy assasination by the 2016 "winner" Trump was the most fun he'd ever had? Cruz has always been spineless on every issue.

22 ( +25 / -3 )

Is this the same Cancun Cruz who just got told to shove it by the defense secretary who was a former general in Iraq for re-tweeting Russian propaganda?

Cancun Ted can drop 50 lbs, shave that marmot off his non-existent chin (it doesn’t his your lack of chin, Ted - it only draws attention to it.), get a decent haircut (Um, a mullet, seriously?) and stand a post.

Otherwise shut up. You look like an idiot.

26 ( +28 / -2 )

All these morons do not see a whole nation population,Palestine, incarcerated in refugee camps daily humiliated by occupying forces... And more asking that this tragedy be financed by US tax payers.

25 ( +27 / -2 )

Rather rich for Cruz to accuse anyone of being "soft."

28 ( +29 / -1 )

If there’s one thing we should’ve learned about Ted Cruz by now it’s that he speaks on behalf of people that fill his pockets with incentives.

28 ( +29 / -1 )

such amazing comments from all of U that I can only concur wholeheartedly. Nothing left for me to say.

20 ( +22 / -2 )

He said the U.S. owes Palestinians no humanitarian aid as long as there's a danger of that money flowing to Hamas.

Sounds like an obvious policy.

Anti-zionist/anti-semites though will still look for support in the destruction if Israel.

“Appeasing terrorists doesn't produce peace,"

Well said Ted.

-36 ( +3 / -39 )

I only have this this to say to Ted, you need to find other ways to gather VOTES because the Israeli narrative is NOT working anymore and the Jewish vote is loosing ground in America very quickly.

So how about siding with the TRUTH for a change.

20 ( +21 / -1 )

Anti-zionist/anti-semites though will still look for support in the destruction if Israel.

Anti-Zionists and anti-Semites are not the same thing. You do live conflating any criticism of anything Jewish with anti-Semitism. It’s almost as if you do it intentionally.

28 ( +30 / -2 )

“Great to be with good friends in Tel Aviv!” Pompeo tweeted.

The US picked the right ally in the Middle East. Those strong words are important to protect innocent lives in Israel.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. put it this way when he was approached by a student who attacked Zionism,  When people criticize Zionists,King said, they mean Jews. You're talking anti-Semitism.

-30 ( +1 / -31 )

When people criticize Zionists,King said, they mean Jews. You're talking anti-Semitism.

Um, no. No, they are not. For example, I personally vigorously defend the right of the state of Israel to exist. It is a democracy and Jews need a place to exist free from anti-semitism.

At the same time, I vigorously oppose its policies on the West Bank and its Arpartide- like isolation of Gazans, because its fundamentally wrong and self-defeating.

one can be pro-Israel and anti-Zionist.

The fighting erupted May 10 when Hamas launched a barrage of rockets at Jerusalem after weeks of protests and clashes over Israel’s policing of a flashpoint holy site.

As usual, not accurate!

The recent violence erupted when Israel attempted to evict Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem.

Israel has lost it's Equilibrium it it ever had any, and it is lashing out at the Palestinians killing over 250 people including 60 children in 11 days using war jets and laser guided missiles on civilians.

If Israel wants peace with the Palestinians it needs to End It's Occupation of Palestine, dismantle it's Apartheid system, release the thousands of prisoners including children from it's jails, then Israel can start talking PEACE.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

I'm really tired of politicians who judge everything on whether so and so is tough enough. Really, how tough is Ted Cruz? He looks like an old, tired circus performer.

Whether or not one is tough enough or not tough enough, the US position on Israel will be a complex problem. A rational person will try to support some ideas and oppose other ideas, seeing what ideas are workable for the people and situation involved. Not everything can be beaten by the same blunt hammer of toughness, especially if you are wearing a flashy blue show jacket.

18 ( +18 / -0 )

Cruz is the fakest politician in the GOP. He kisses all the butts in the GOP for what? For acceptance? for money? Latinos sell their soul to the GOP and its sad. His neighbors put up Biden sigs in his own street. No one can stand him except for those who would infiltrate the capital lol.

17 ( +17 / -0 )

I hope he keeps cruising fast to oblivion.

19 ( +19 / -0 )

Biden clearly isn't tough enough to do photo-ops, exchange love letters, and defend foreign dictators against accusations made by American intelligence agencies.

Weak. Pathetic.

19 ( +20 / -1 )

The world knows now the difference between being Jewish and a Zionist, Jews DO NOT kill women and children, steal land, beat up children for resisting the Occupation, cut off water food and medicine supplies from Gaza, ZIONISTS DO.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

“Appeasing terrorists doesn't produce peace,"

...and killing innocent children does?

16 ( +17 / -1 )

Cruz, Graham, Pompeo and Hagerty should not be supporting the brutal occupation of the Palestinians by the ruthless Israeli government! Nobody should support this evil! May God have mercy on the poor Palestinians.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Exactly.

He said the U.S. owes Palestinians no humanitarian aid as long as there's a danger of that money flowing to Hamas.

-22 ( +0 / -22 )

The Good Old Israeli Anti-Semite line that is wearing off fast, and by the way criticizing Occupation, or and Apartheid, is NOT anti- Semitic, it is what it is. In fact Arabs, Hebrews, Akkadians, and Phoenicians, are all Semite not only Jews.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Why do so many US politicians disparage and ignore the plight of the Palestinians?

9 ( +11 / -2 )

I am always left wondering at how much the american politics has to be involved with the middle east.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I always thought the only good thing about Trump getting to be President was that Cruz didn't.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Cruz is bought and paid for by AIPAC.

The greatest thing that will come out of this tragic war crime is that at this stage netanyahoo is out and will soon be in jail! That will be one of the best things to happen for peace in Palestine and the ME in general for a very long time

Judaism is a religion...Semites are a race or group of people speaking semetic languages which includes but is not limited to Palestinians and Jews of ME decent. I think the reason that the jewish lobby uses the anti-semetic scare campaign is they want to be classified as a race not a religion which then fits in with the narrative of being a bigot and racist to question the zionist ideology. It is interesting and telling that they don't use anti-jewish. Being for peace and justice should not be labeled as being anti anything except anti-death and suffering.

BDS

12 ( +12 / -0 )

@Burning Bush

Why do so many US politicians disparage and ignore the plight of the Palestinians?

Because they are funded by Jewish businesspersons, and afraid of largely Jewish owned and controlled US media, that's why. It's not an anti-Semitic line, it's a fact and it would be true no matter what ethnicity of people was involved.

Ted Cancruz is showing everyone what his Senate and House colleagues have known for years - as John Boehner said, "he's a lunatic"...

I mean really, Cruz calling someone "soft" when he grovels at the feet of the guy that called his wife ugly and his Dad a terrorist... And he calls himself a Texan?

Ted Cruz criticizing someone for being soft is like Trump criticizing someone for marital infidelity...

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Go back to Cancun, you coward. Absolute spineless. Sucked up to the person who called his wife ugly and said his father killed JFK. Then threw his children under the bus by blaming them for taking the whole family to Cancun. This guy would stab his own mother in the back if it would further his career.

No wonder his daughter was repelled from him when he tried to kiss her during his presidential run.

Republicans are soft on America's enemies.

Because the Republicans are America's enemies.

After cancelling Keystone pipeline, a key pipeline to ensure U.S. Energy independence, Biden began importing oil from Iran, for the first time since 1991.

But don’t worry, America and Israel, he has our backs!

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

I love how the first comments on this discussion were almost exclusively cheap personal attacks and disparaging comments about Senator Cruz. It says a lot about the intellectual maturity of those who posted them.

As for the issue at hand, there is nothing wrong with supporting Israel. Even if, as some have stated, the actual cause of the violence was the eviction of 4 Palestinian families from their homes, that is not an excuse for Hamas to launch thousands of rockets with the sole purpose of murdering innocent civilians.

Israel is the only functioning multi-ethnic and multi-religious democracy in the area. For that reason alone they deserve support and protection. Don't fall into the trap of there being any moral equivalency between Israel and the terrorists- there is none. The Palestinians are actually interested in a one state solution- a Jew free state from the river to the sea, as they so often say. Israel is the only side that actually wants to live with their neighbors, not slaughter them.

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

After cancelling Keystone pipeline, a key pipeline to ensure U.S. Energy independence,

The Keystone pipline was an ecological nightmare and wouldn't even have helped US oil independence :

However, an independent study conducted by the Cornell ILR Global Labor Institute refers to some studies according to which "a good portion of the oil that will gush down the KXL will probably end up being finally consumed beyond the territorial United States". It also states that the project will increase the heavy crude oil price in the Midwestern United States by diverting oil sands oil from the Midwest refineries to the Gulf Coast and export markets.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keystone_Pipeline#Issues

Cancelling it was a very good idea.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Google top USA figures religion. Biden’s children included.

Why do so many US politicians disparage and ignore the plight of the Palestinians?

Google

most important thing for people to know is that Jewish and Zionist are totally different. Unfortunately Jews are forced into military service where torturing Palestinian children is par for the course, so, the line is becoming increasing blurred.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

That old-fashioned belligerent pseudo-Christian rhetoric against those who think different is typical of the pathetic republilosers.

Among them, Cruz, one of the main clown bosses of the pathetic Trumpist circus..

Let's see how much the GOP is ruining a country..

8 ( +9 / -1 )

The Palestinians are actually interested in a one state solution- a Jew free state from the river to the sea, as they so often say. Israel is the only side that actually wants to live with their neighbors, not slaughter them.

This is extremely simplistic and of course also completely wrong. There are equally a lot isreali extremists dreaming of an Isreal without any palestinians, and palestinians who wish nothing more than to live in peace with their jewish neighbours. There is no good or bad in this conflict, only very complicated problems that are, at this point in time, absolutely not helped by the governing bodies of either side.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

BTW. Israel’s aggressiveness to poor Gaza is about the masses of gas reserves off the coast of Gaza, which Israel wants to steal at all cost.

Not mentioned on MSM

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Israel is the only side that actually wants to live with their neighbors, not slaughter them.

Actions speak louder than words. The current Israeli government needs to go, and its apartheid policies abolished.

Um, the subject of this thread is Cacun Cruz and his moronic comments. Do try to keep up.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

U.S. Sen Ted Cruz would and is aware of United Nations Resolution 242.

This dates back to the 60's

Yet Cruz seems to be oblivious to what has dropped in his lap.

Yet Cruz is outing Biden? on this issue?

Also unconnected a salad might come in handy.

JT take that down. there is a gap

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Happy Day

After cancelling Keystone pipeline, a key pipeline to ensure U.S. Energy independence, Biden began importing oil from Iran, for the first time since 1991.

The Keystone Pipeline was to supply oil and gas from another country. Not very independent.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Cosplay Ted can get his staff to film another deep fake video. Showing how brave he was when he was being taunted by flahlight waving cartel members. Cruz might have some credibility with some 45 R's especially those who have accepted the big lies pushed by 45 etal. Reasonable people will not believe a word Cruz says, but then Cruz does not aim his fake videos and messages at reasonable people. He lets the Tucker Carlsons and hannities speak for him

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Zichi yes, you are right. The pipline was to supply oil from Canada. A democratic neighbour and ally. Better than buying it from the head hacking mullahs, don't you think? But I guess kissing thousands of jobs 'goodbye' was OK as long as it was a thumb in the eye to the former president...

Buying oil and gas from another country is not being independent. There is already a working pipeline. Biden did not cancel the construction of the new pipeline, only off federal lands. In 2016, Trump promised the coal miners he would take care of their jobs. But he didn't and many lost them. More than 20,000.

America imports its oil from Saudi, about 11%.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Cruz is cruising and trying to get the feel of what it might be like to be a president or VP. Pipeline dreams.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

I don't understand why anyone would care what Ted Cruz says or does, let alone write about it. Strange times we live in.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

But I guess kissing thousands of jobs 'goodbye' was OK as long as it was a thumb in the eye to the former president..

Seeing that the idea for the Keystone Pipeline dates back to March 2008, the previous president has really absolutely nothing to do with it whatsoever.

Also : https://www.statesman.com/story/news/politics/politifact/2021/01/22/keystone-pipeline-jobs-lost-joe-biden-executive-order-cancel-fact-check/6673822002/

But both TC Energy and the State Department have said the majority of those jobs would be temporary. A 2014 report found that the company would need only 50 employees to maintain the Keystone XL pipeline once it’s finished, 35 of them permanent.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Cruz is right, appeasing terrorists doesn't produce peace, but like Trump, he'smanaged to invert reality because the terrorists are the Israeli regime's militants.

And it is worthy of note that when the neighboring country was fighting terrorists (and this is a group both the US and Iran considers terrorists, so they definitely aren't freedom fighters) there were zero statements from Cruz or Biden or Trump or Obama that Syria had the right to self defence, despite, unlike in the case of Israel (an occupying power DOESN'T have the right to defend itself from the people it's occupying, the occupied people have the Geneva Conventions recognized right to try and free themselves from occupation and have pretty wide allowance to use less than perfect weapons in such an effort)

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

@Atilla

cheap personal attacks and disparaging comments about Senator Cruz.

I agree with that part. Cruz's appearance is irrelevant to the discussion.

However, Cruz deserves every ounce of criticism he is receiving for his one-sided, simplistic platitudes about Israel and the Palestinians. For a Senator to make foreign policy statements that run counter to the policies of the executive while in a foreign country runs counter to established behavior for a reason. It's destabilizing. In a region that is unstable enough. And Cruz is doing it for political benefit, like his buddies Lindsay and Bibi.

there is nothing wrong with supporting Israel.

Of course, but that's not what Cruz's comments are about.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Israel is the only functioning multi-ethnic and multi-religious democracy in the area. For that reason alone they deserve support and protection. Well said.

And any argument otherwise is anti-semitic by definition.

What is interesting, is the fallacious argument that Israel is "occupying" land. The land that the Palestinian Arabs rejected in the first place? Israel fought a war against 5 Arab countries, and now administers lands that were annexed and occupied by Jordan. What is the Palestinian Arabs claim to that land, which was occupied by Jordan for almost 20 years?

Anyone who promotes the appeasing of terrorists over the security of their country would be called a traitor. Here, it is pure anti-semitism, no matter how much people try and deny it.

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

I always find it interesting that members of Trump's Insurrectionist Party try to out-do each other being pro-Israeli....when so any members of their base; KKK, white nationalists, Proud Boys, Minutemen Militias, Neo-Nazis, etc., are all anti-Semites...

And someone needs to ask Cruz if he believes what his cohort Marjory Taylor Greene said about "Jewish-funded space lasers causing forest fires"....

https://www.vox.com/22256258/marjorie-taylor-greene-jewish-space-laser-anti-semitism-conspiracy-theories

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Here, it is pure anti-semitism, no matter how much people try and deny it.

Conflating the country of Israel with Jews around the world is actually antisemitic, just as an FYI.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

I guess Cruz plans to go down the same road George Wallace did. He'd also had his political ambitions thwarted by someone further right than him, and, to prevent that happening again gave voice to a cry of absolute loyalty and support for a racist type of government because it was popular with the right, and not, at the time he said it and a long time before, not offensive to the general electorate. And the tactic worked, his poll numbers went up and stayed there until they crashed, along with the notion that Segregation was anything but naked, unrefined racism.

I like Texas. And I like Texans. Strong people. Had some good times there, especially Dallas and Houston. And if ever in a combat situation, I wouldn't mind a Texan right next to me.

But this Ted Cruz guy isn't that. He's just this squishy blob of an opportunist, a guy who will lie to your face and feel nothing, even when he knows you know he's lying.

He's pretty much the opposite of my opinion of Texas.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Ever such wise words spoken.

When I hear that from the left and dripping with that much vitriol, he’s definitely doing a very good thing. When the left start agreeing with the establishment, I get nervous.

He's pretty much the opposite of my opinion of Texas

Great, he’s a fighter and that’s what we like and want, not the weak establishment Washington sellouts.

Fighter? What a joke. He didn't have the guts to stand up for his family, or fight for his constituents when the lights went off...he ran away...

Do you believe Jewish-funded space lasers cause forest fires? Yes or no...

4 ( +4 / -0 )

he’s a fighter

Nah.

If Cruz were a fighter he would have stuck to his guns and continued to call out Trump for what he is, a pathological liar, con man, and unstable bully.

And he wouldn't have hightailed it to Cancun while his constituents in Texas were freezing to death. And then tried to blame it on his own daughters.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

You can't call anyone that kisses the ass of someone who criticized their dad, tough. That's about as weak as it gets.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Cruz is a scumbag who has no right to open his mouth!

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The real problem behind is more of a general kind. The U.S. always let draw themselves into far away conflicts and then are expected to take a side. Israel-Palestine, SaudiArabia-Iran, Afghanistan-Taliban, South Korea-North Korea and the list goes on, you’ll find other similar ones in all areas of the globe. That is the real reason why that costs so many resources, money, political efforts, military engagements and so on, that all diminishes the own strength and resources for the own country and population. And in fact, you get no thank you and of course all the conflicts also continue. It’s completely useless and has no final results, neither wished nor unwanted ones.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

bass: Great, he’s a fighter and that’s what we like and want, not the weak establishment Washington sellouts.

My guess is that if I insulted a Texan's wife and father I'd get punched in the face. But not that Cruz guy. He might put up a little resistance at first, then give up, then kiss my rear.

Now that I think about it, didn't you insult Trump when he ran, too? Ahhhh....maybe that's why you like Cruz so much. Same leash attached to the same hand. And a short one at that.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Ted Cruz , no morals, no courage, can stoop to any level for personal gain.

The poster boy of the GOP!!!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Oh, how I wish I could take a Cruz to Cancun and leave him there forever.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Nah.

Oh, he sure is.

If Cruz were a fighter he would have stuck to his guns and continued to call out Trump for what he is, a pathological liar, con man, and unstable bully.

Then he would be a coward beholden to the establishment, glad he didn’t give up his principles to appease the Trump hating base.

And he wouldn't have hightailed it to Cancun while his constituents in Texas were freezing to death. And then tried to blame it on his own daughters.

I could name a bunch of Dems that have made screwed up comments and your point.

Name three who went on vacation as their states suffered a powercut leaving millions without heat, light, or food, then blamed their daughters for abdicating their responsibilities. Thanks in advance.
