Learn a little more about the situation (beyond the lazy popular narrative) before commenting (i.e. 1948 Jeju Massacre) or else you will remain the essence of this remark.

Gee, an uprising on an island nowhere near North Korea. Still NK's stupid war, for which they won the stupid prize.

This clearly demonstrates how little you know about the historical situation which led to the outbreak of the Korean war.

@Project 5150 Numbskull so does your thought includes the little midget shooting firecrackers into the sky as being a light show and it has not achieved anything but starving his people to death.

Love the US 'Show of Force.'

Only they can do it and it is very reassuring indeed.

You watch too many movies.

The show of force hasn't worked out since WW2.

It's just for show and the purpose isn't achieving anything positive.

" So this is part of de-escalating tensions, not escalating them."

Absolutely...when US does it it's about de-escalating, when others do it it's escalation.

The US didn't hold live fire exercises around Taiwan. Simple as.

Imagine how wonderful it would be if Korea had a reunification moment like Germany had?...little fat boy and his 666'd sister go live on some island off the coast...the peoples of N. Korea would have a manifold rise in their standard of living...moneys spent of rockets and nukes re-directed to peaceful development of their society...of course little fat boy and his sister would rather remain in power at the cost to their society/people...the presence of the subs is irrelevant...likely they were in position anyhow - this way it sends a message...the north was been developing rockets with longer and longer range...what the hell else were the US going to do?

USA way how to promote a "peace"... how this will deescalate situation here in our corner?

Its up to the US to de escalate? Why? DPRK provoking, constantly, no matter what the US does but having the US run away simply makes DPRK think they can try to dominate their neighbor with the help of China.

Showing weakness or inaction does not de escalate, it enables those with an agenda of domination and intimidation. The US rightly reminds of its strength to defend the freedoms of its allies in the region. Exactly the right move. Now if the US launched missiles over NK territory, that would be the US provoking. Right now the only side doing such things is NK itself launching over Japan and its territory.

But some have nothing else to say than tension must be America's fault. This becomes as tiresome as it is inaccurate.

Don't forget to count all the retired / ex-military members living in the Pacific area.

This approach is why the North worked to acquire nukes in the first place, and why they continue to test fire missiles.

Not to mention the US has already carpet-bombed the North before and caused massive destruction and suffering.

Start stupid wars, win stupid prizes. NK had two nuclear states backing it. They had no legitimate need to go for nukes.

There is no excuse for behaving like a bully,

I agree. Tell the dictator cabal this. Ukraine is suffering.

and we all know Iraq and Afghanistan are still in shambles, yet of course no one amongst the neocon crowd is courageous and honest enough to admit it.

Iraq is pumping more gas today than under Saddam Hussein. Hardly in shambles. And Afghanistan is returned to the way it was before the US got there...

More threat = de-escalation, yeah right.

Thoughtless preceding comments notwithstanding, the open presence of US boomers in SK is to assure them that the US nuclear umbrella is alive and kicking and there is no need for SKorea to "go nuclear" in the face of the NKorean nuclear threat. It is a "show of force", since US boomers can hit NKorea anytime from undisclosed locations anywhere. So this is part of de-escalating tensions, not escalating them.

Agree. Little Kim and his berserk sister know exactly what this US-sK show of force means...

The Kentucky carries 20 Trident II D5 missiles each with 8 Independently Retargetable Reentry Vehicles, i.e., warheads. That's 160 targets in nK - with just one sub - and we can be sure there are more lurking underneath the Pacific within range of the peninsula.

It means the end of nK and the Kim dynasty should they get stupid.

Yet another nuclear sub lol

In addition to the thousands of soldiers, other heavy weaponry, and multiple military bases and installations.

No question who is raising tension and initiating conflict in the region.

NK has a million soldiers and nukes. They'll be alright provided they don't start something.
