As the law stands now, the Texas law is clearly unconstitutional.

Here’s the part where Amy Three-names, Brett Brah, Scalito, Thomas and Neil forget their Senate confirmation testimony, their alleged respect for precedent, and claims of being non-partisan and decide to overturn Roe.

The Justice Department had asked the court to block the law known as Senate Bill 8 (SB8) but the panel declined to do so for now and instead agreed to hold an unusually expedited hearing of the case.

I hope this has nothing to do with the outcome in the case. It would have been just as appropriate for them to put a hold on the vigilante law as well!

They are pro-life, but their version of birth-control and sex education are totally different from what the majority of the civilized world thinks!

Birth control to them means abstinence or have the babies! Sex education for them is simple too, wait till your married, or keep your legs shut, and keep it in your pants. THAT is the GOP!

Sadly I think it means overturning Roe. Not because women don’t have a constitutional right. Not because circumstances have changed which make the price moot (as was the case in Brown vs. the board of education). No, a bunch of religious nuts have decided that they don’t like it so we shouldn’t have that right and appointed a group of like-minded nutters who know what they were appointed to do.

There are two main reasons:

The GOPs far-right support of controlling women's body stem from the Christian church's beliefs (many religions) that having babies mean having more and more followers which means more potential donations.

The other source is the racist beliefs on the far-right (any far-right group regardless of country) that there is a race war (ironically, in the West their side started...the global racism, colonization, and genocide).

All the reasons lead back to strength in numbers.

(Ironically, the only time that abortion is mentioned in the Bible is when it is allowable by men as a punishment on women, but there is no prohibition on women undertaking abortion - the view on abortion is a modern insertion that has no biblical basis)

That's your rationale of the argument, the other side is, who is going to think and fight for the side of the voiceless and unborn? The way out left and in particular pro-choice people want and will fight for trans-rights, animal rights, but the unborn, nope.

Globe? Well, that is one side of the argument from the pro-choice people, on the opposite side the pro-life people men and particularly women want to prevent the unnecessary killing of a life except in the case of incest, rape or the life of either the mother or child is threatened because of a life and death situation. Neither side will persuade the other and this is why the Supreme Court doesn’t want to get involved with this issue. So it remains to be seen where this will go.

No, completely different, as adults every individual can decide what they want injected in their bodies and a lot of people can’t for medical reasons. With the unborn, they don’t have a choice. Again, if it’s in the case of rape, incest of the life of the mother is threatened that is totally and completely different.

That is not true, I live in Texas, the overwhelming majority of Texans with the exceptions of the ones living in Austin (that many are against it) are for this bill and that’s why it was passed.

One Texan lawmaker wanted to introduce the death penalty for women who have an abortion.

Lawmakers often introduce bills that are just dumb and get zero traction on both sides. Just like paying slavery reparations to every single black person, it’s not going to happen.

This abortion law needs to be aborted by the SC. Do the right thing.

I hope the SC turns down the Texas Bill and preserves RvsW, but from a purely political perspective there is no other issue that resonates with women (and a lot of men) than the government trying to control their bodies and their medical decisions...especially in cases of rape and incest....

If the court overturns RvsW it will cause a huge surge in Dem voters - and a lock on both the Senate and House in 2022, and another loss for the Pubs in 2024....

How many posts have we seen from the Repubs here saying "My Body, My Choice" and "it's a decision between me and my doctor" when it comes to the vaccine and masks. Utter hypocrites...

Nothing would make me happier if you and 2020 are right and I am wrong. But I fear I am not. There was a reason that the court was packed with Catholic zealots from the Federalist society (Full Disclosure: I went to Catholic High School so I know a Catholic zealot when I see one), and degrading environmental regulations wasn’t it.

They were out in place to overturn Roe precedent, public opinion and no state religion be damned (pun intended).
