U.S., Taiwan to launch formal trade talks in autumn

The more US/Taiwan trade and investment increases, the less likely that the US will remain silent if China chooses to invade. All for it.

US really is looking to piss China off.

This has nothing to do with China. Why should the largest economy with the most powerful military, give a damn about China getting it's knickers in a knot?

So winter, Ukraine will lose, so autumn they start a new war in Taiwan.

Neither China nor America is involved in, or responsible for Ukraine, that is Russia alone causing that. If China wants to start a war in Taiwan it will do so regardless of anyone else. But I agree China is looking to start a new war in Taiwan.

Taiwan and the US already trade and have done for decades. This long standing arrangement is simply getting updated. So nothing essentially is changing.

As with all things Taiwan, China needs to butt out and mind it's own business. Taiwan is not China's business.

Good. And send them some weapons so they can defend themselves.

Taiwan's largest trading partner by far remains China.

Last year some 42 percent of Taiwan's exports went to China and Hong Kong compared to 15 percent for the United States.

Watch how things change. Ask Russia if it is possible.

The USA has done many things, but Democracy and apple pie aren't US inventions. The Greeks had a democracy in 430 B.C. I suppose the US might be parsed out as a "modern democracy", but at the national level, it is a republic. Democracy in the US really ends at state lines.

Apples are not native to the Americas. They are from Asia and Europe. The Americas have something called a "crab apple", which is native and about 10x smaller, less sweet, but used for jams, jellies, and other fruity things. Very tart. Apples were imported mainly to create Apple Cider - alcohol. I understand some are native to the Island while others are of Chinese ancestry and still others emigrated to Taiwan from around the planet.

No, I have not. But then I have not read my own nations constitution either.

Taiwan has many investments and business dealings with the one China.

As does the rest of the world. This is an issue between the US and Taiwan and as such China is not involved and should mind it's own business.

Formal trade talks aside, US incitement is prompting Japanese lawmakers to inflame Taiwan Straits tensions.

'Japan is slavishly imitating & blindly following the steps of the US', says China.

Piercingly correct, say it again louder.

No, this has nothing to do with China at all !

Look how close Taiwan is to China.

India is closer to China than Taiwan is.

And China is the largest economy and rapidly becoming the largest military.

The US has the largest economy and the strongest military and the US has numerous allies.

This still has nothing to do with US/ Taiwan trade deals. China has it's own trade deals with both the US and with Taiwan but it has nothing to do with US/Taiwan trade.

USA is not dependable source of security for Taiwan or Japan for that matter.

That again has nothing to do with China attempting to interfere in Taiwan/US dealings.

Ask the people of Taiwan who they trust more and I guarantee you they will chose America over China every day of the week.

After US-sponsored Chiang Kai-shek got his behind shellacked by Mao in China, Shanghai mafia-affiliated Chiang was whisked away and installed by the US in Taiwan, where he proceeded to displace the original inhabitants, so that the US would have a base from which to agitate China.

As part of this project to provoke China from Taiwan, the CIA sponsored an invasion of China, which was thwarted.

The government of Burma had lodged a formal complaint to the UN against Taiwan in March 1953 over the continued KMT presence. Over the next several months the US, Taiwan, Thailand, and Burma negotiated a withdrawal.

USA don’t care about anyone but themselves as long as they can make some cash they don’t think about the repercussions. Just look at the messes they’ve left around the world .

Depends on part of the Middle East you refer, but a large part of the problem are the terrorist governments running several of those countries and areas.

Amazing that Israel, the only democracy in the region, is able to fight off the enemies that surround it.
