Drip, drip, drip.... the slow build up to another US war of choice in the Middle East.  Probably timed to kick off just before the 2020 elections.

Simon: I hope younare incorrect, but I'm not confident at all that you are.

The headline got cut off, this part is missing:

"... at Israel's request"

Could be. It could be at Trump's favorite McDonald's cashier's request. Isn't speculating fun?

The Trump administration is preparing to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard a "foreign terrorist organization,"

Given Trump's history with shady businessmen linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, and given the fact he's too busy playing golf, tweeting, looking out for his family's investments and the reality that he doesn't like to read anything longer than 140 characters, I wonder if he really has read what his 'admin' has prepared.

the Trump Administration has not sanctioned an Iranian firm with ties to both the Revolutionary Guard and to one of the Trump Organization’s business partners.

John Bolton is getting closer to have his war...

But contrary to Iraq, it would be surprising if the US has any ally this time, as Trump managed to piss off all of them.

Was on some conspiracy theory site last week, I'm a little behind. Anyway, they claimed that in 2001, the US planned out 7 wars since fewer things get the voters behind a President and help the economy more than a war and weapon sales overseas. A war with Iran was in the list. At the time, they thought willing 1 war per year was possible. Clearly they weren't the sharpest tacks in the box and didn't care much about human lives.

I hoped it was all crazy talk.

I fear it wasn't.

Hasn’t the US been dubbed ‘the Great Satan’ in the past?

That designation can’t be beat....

I dunno... Axis of Evil set a pretty good bar.

Hasn’t the US been dubbed ‘the Great Satan’ in the past?

Very much so. It was at its zenith in the 80s but recently the narrative from Washington has brought about a timely revival.

This latest move by the hawks and PNAC crowd will undoubtedly play to the fan base but it's a foolish move.

Did Trump have another crash course in history from the warmongers Bolton and Pompeo?

Did Trump have another crash course in history from the warmongers Bolton and Pompeo?

I heard he's meeting with Ben Affleck later to thank him for the wonderful job he did getting Americans out of Iran.

Trump must think that every great leader commanded in battle. Coward, doesn't want to go to war unless he gets to sit on the sideline while other Americans die.

Simon Israel says, Jump! Trump says, how high? Sheldon says, how much money do you need for your reelection campaign?

@BigYen,

Have you been to the US?

The thing is that Iran has made it clear that the response to the politically based labelling of the IRGC as a terrorist organization is going to be a fact based labelling of the American military as a terrorist organization. And, unlike the US, Iran can offer to let any member of the American military they capture be tried in the Hague as long as the Americans do the same with any Iranians they capture.

Anyway, they claimed that in 2001, the US planned out 7 wars since fewer things get the voters behind a President and help the economy more than a war and weapon sales overseas. A war with Iran was in the list.

Yeah, Retired General Wesley Clark mentioned a classified memo that describes "how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.”

Considering how it is widely accepted that other countries on that list were taken out with wars started on "faulty intelligence" (lies), I suspect they are following the same MO for Iran.

Another US designated terrorist organisation. Surely, the US can place more sanctions on some nations today.

The so-called Western Powers ( US puppets) and NATO will follow US orders and go to another war so that the US can maintain its global economic, military and political dictatorship. When will the world stand up and put an end to US imperialism?

Investigation would be carried out by AIPAC. No collusion. Move on.

When will the world stand up and put an end to US imperialism?

Unfortunately with someone like Trump in charge, that would mean massive all out war...

The U.S. military follows orders from the political leadership in Washington. They know that is their role.

It is the people at the top choosing which regimes to impact with the US Military.

The US Military is about applying force when politics isn't working. When that decision is made by the political leadership, the military makes suggestions and provides options. They are good at breaking things and killing people. That is their job.

That is the job of every state's military in the world.

It would be better if the politicians were better at negotiating solutions so militaries aren't needed. War is a political failure.

@BigYen,

No. No plans either. Go there and then insult the leader and see how that goes.
